Hi guys, i just got my pixel 2 today. I don't like to use the power button as much as possible when turning the screen off. I'm wondering if you there is an app for screen off which is compatible with the fingerprint unlock. I've tried several on the playstore but when i unlock the device it asks for my pin rather than going straight to the home screen.

If your rooted you can use a Nova launcher gesture. I also use this app to lock the screen and boot into whatever :good:

Just to add that Nova Launcher screen off gesture works if you're not rooted too.

True. But ya gotta wait for that time out thing
Hi all. New on this phone, I've searched for this but could not find, so maybe someone here could help me. Is there a gesture to quickly turn off screen (had a gesture on my old nexus that was double tapping home button)?
Thanks in advance!
You could try 'Edge sense plus' (check the play store) to use the squeeze function to turn off the screen instead of launching the assistant. Personally I use nova launcher and swipe up to turn off the screen.
I'm sure there are other alternatives as well, but that's my 2 cents
I use the app called edge gestures on the play store. Works very well for me!

Is that the app that costs 1,77? Wich are the possible gestures for screen off?
Do you have the possibility to use the fingerprint sensor to turn screen off?
Thanks!
Yeah it does cost some money but I can't remember exactly how much. There is a native screen lock option for Android 9+ and I don't think there is any fingerprint gesture. It's primarily for the edges of your screen.

You could try turning on accessibility menu in the accessibility settings if you don't mind having a small icon to the right of the pill at the bottom of the screen. When you click it, there are several options given and lock screen is one. It's not a simple gesture swipe or a simple double tap but it may be an option.

Tried that, and it works, it appears a person button, and when you press it, it gives a lot of options, and the lock screen is one of them. I will keep using until a easier solution if found. I can not believe android will not include a gesture option for this by default.
I hate to have to press a button to lock the screen, they end up breaking/wearing so fast.
Thanks all for your responses, and other solutions are welcome. Cheers! :good:

Forgot to mention though that with it, when you open the camera app, you'll get this '5 second burst' label on the screen that some find annoying but I, for one, don't mind it.
Oh and when you're down and feeling blue, that small person icon seems to be ready to give a hug so just look at your phone. Hahaha

I think it's part of turning on accessibility so it's not a bug

Yes now thinking it could be a accesibility info. I really do not like it. Will keep searching for other options... Don't mind to have a extra menu, but would preffer a native app and not a installed one. :good:

It's swiping/tapping from either the left, right, or bottom of the screen.
I use Wakeup touch Nexus, which, apart from letting you wake the screen using the proximity sensor, also allows you to turn off the screen by touching an icon on the desktop https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wolandsoft.wtn

I found this very useful, i mean... not the app but it moved me to find the right one... and i found it!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.redmanit.lockscreen
This one can create a toggle in quick settings... (the padlock) its great!, you can use fingerprint to unlock, and all working fine (no root required).
:highfive:

Thanks, but looking for gestures apps or ways to lock the screen.
Check this widget out. It is invisible and adds double tap to lock functionality to any launcher.

Works without root in Android P or with root in Oreo and lower. In both cases, fingerprint unlocking works afterwards.

I'm an iPhone user, looking to make the switch to android. Simplest but one great feature iphone has is lift to wake. Does the OnePlus 7T have this feature? Thank you!

Thanks! But this only turns the ambient display on. I'd like the screen to turn on like the iphone. Such a simple thing but really loved that feature
Oh I see. You can do double tap to wake setting. Otherwise, Im not sure if there is a way to do it in its stock state.

it doesn't have this feature for the lock screen, it has double tap to wake. honestly it's more useful in the long run because lift to wake would waste so much of your battery . try using the ambient display for a bit. Apple doesn't have this feature and i honestly find it pretty useful
You can have this feature if you have no security on the phone ( pin , fingerprint, face,) and pick up to show turned on. Should work just fine
check this out https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7t/themes/root-finally-app-to-enable-native-lift-t4070097 I think it's what your looking for.
Its a pain to swipe down from the top to see all notifications on the such a big phone. Is there a way to swipe down from anywhere on the home screen to see all notifications? Just like in samsung phones?
.

Thanks. But is there any way to do this with an app or in 20x's settings?
.
As far as I know, no such option in stock launcher's settings or general settings.
I find it most convenient to just swipe down on the finger print sensor.

It's under the Fingerprint ID section in Biometrics and passwords. Huawei gives you a lot of options with the sensor, you can select which ones you want to turn on.
