Wi-fi battery drain in my g4 - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
i have a battery drain when my g4 is "idle" with wi-fi on;
it drain 2/3 % in one hour!
Battery drain appears in my battery stats, under the voice: "phone idle"
I have already turned off the "wifi scan" and "bluetooth scan" in the location settings
How can i fix this?

6.0 on N7 2013 LTE battery drain

Hi,
to make sure I have a "clean" system, I reset my KK to factory and flashed the full 6.0 image via adb.
Now after doing my peronal settings I experience serious problem with battery drain during sleep ~2%/h related to WiFi.
I tried "keep WiFi on during sleep" at "always", "only when connected" and "never" which makes no difference.
On the battery graph I can see that WiFi is constantly on, allthough it is reported with 2% only.
Only if I switch to flight mode I can see that WiFi is off and the battery drain comes to an expected low level.
I checked with GSam Battery Monitor that there are no wakelocks and in generall it looks like MM just ignores the WiFi setting, still I can't image what uses the WiFi so extensively during sleep. On my Lenovo I have to keep the WiFi active to not get extensive battery drain and still have only 6%/day battery drain in sleep.
Anyone with similar resuts? Hints? Tips?

25% battery consumption overnight...

Hi everyone
hope this is a good place for this. I just bought a brand new P2 and yesterday I was doing some configuring for it and updated it to 7.0 (S244 stock). I did wipe it after all the updates according to instructions on this forums. Before going to sleep I charged it to 100%, unplugged the charger and left the phone with all connectivity (wifi, lte, bt, nfc etc.) turned off. I expected 2-5% battery drop but when I woke up in the morning it went down by 25% (!). Also my wallpaper changed to black colour(?). Something's definitely wrong What can I do about this?
Power manager shows the system as the main source of battery drain.
Another thing I noticed is that the video (YouTube, VLC) and alarm sounds are stuttered, there is like 0.5 sec lag every 10-15 secs...
Please someone tell me if this is normal and what can I do? Should I do factory reset once again or maybe flash the firmware? Can that help?
UPDATE:
I have found that the cause of the baterry drain problem is the CPU, it does not go to deep sleep at all and CPU-Z shows that it constantly jumps beetwen 652Mhz and 1401 or 1689Mhz on all 8 cores (even with no apps in the background and all connectivity turned off). Please have a look at my screenshots from GSam Battery Monitor:

https://photos.app.goo.gl/HwZqMuQFPHLK9C2D3

Clearly something is wrong, any suggestions? Please guys tell me something.
Is nobody else experiencing this? Does no one have ANY suggestions for me whatsoever? I did a factory reset, phone is still losing 1-2% battery per hour with all connectivity and screen OFF. So basically it loses per hour what it should lose during whole night.
Are you on Nougat or Lollipop?
Can you post up the system battery stats from the phone.
Which apps have you installed?
Try these...

Obviously the deep sleep is not happening in your unit. Let's see what is the root of this problem:
1) Settings > WLAN > cog-wheel icon > Keep WLAN on during sleep = Never.
2) Settings > Power manager > Battery saver > On.
3) Settings > Data usage > Data saver > On. Ensure zero apps is allowed to use unrestricted data when Data Saver is on.
4) Charge the device till 100% (do it before bedtime).
5) Turn on Airplane mode.
6) See the per hour drain the next morning. It should be between 0.1% to 0.3% per hour in the GSam Battery Monitor app (assuming you slept for 8 hours).
If the above result is true, meaning, there is / are 3rd party apps that trigger the wake lock activity. But which app(s) to be blamed? Please list down the apps list for us to test in our unit.
@Treboeth, Nougat (s244) as I wrote in the first post. Battery stats after the night attached below.
@azeemzuhair Thank you for your input. Im going to describe what I did. Yesterday I did the factory reset, I didnt install ANY new applications (except for Alarmy but I needed it and phone was losing same amount of energy without it). So the only apps that drain the phone are the system apps themself. Before going to sleep I charged the device to 100%. As for points 1-3 from your post both WiFi and Data were OFF as well as bluetooth and NFC. I left it for the night with screen OFF. These are results after the night (SoT 1 min., standby 9 hours, 22% of battery gone, so that gives approximately 2% discharge rate per hour). This is clearly terrible. Any ideas what next?

Airplane vs active SIM stand-by drain...
Airplane mode stand-by drain @ 0.1% per hour:
Single SIM Active mode stand-by drain @ 0.5% per hour:
Ok, so I left it in Airplane mode for the night and the discharge rate was 0.2%, that is some progress. After that I charged it to 100%, unplugged, disabled the Airplane mode and left it for 5 hours. Battery drain is due to SIM card and phone although they were not used and the signal was good. Everything can be seen in these screenshots:

My hypothesis is that the "Alarmy" app caused the wakelock. By judging at the Airplane mode, Alarmy still wakes the "CPU". You may try to uninstall it and monitor the energy consumption for the next 3 days...

Try "Network Reset"
Still the same? Wipe cache partition in the stock Lenovo Recovery.
Finally, hard reset is the last resort.
Thank your for your reply. Removing SD card fixed the SIM management drain but the "Phone Services" still drain the battery. I did the network settings reset and will see if it helps. As for cache wipe and factory reset I'd like to remind that the whole troubleshooting process started with factory reset so I dont know if that can help.

Cell Standby Drain - is there a fix?

Currently my phone is at 30% from 100% - 21 % of that is cell standby (mobile radio active for 16m it says), and only 18% of that is screen on (4.5 hours~). I tried turning off "keep mobile data active even on wifi" but that did nothing. Is there a known fix? I thought maybe turning off VoLTE would do it, but it just switches itself back on.
Strange. Last night for me the battery drop over 7 hours was zero. So I can't complain on standby battery drain.
Give some context to this maybe? Like how long was your phone on for? For instance, my battery is at 55% at 12hrs on battery with cell standby at the highest with 7% and my Screen using 2% with 2hrs SoT. Cause if your standby drain is over a full day, maybe you just have bad signal where you are?

Volte drains very little amount of battery. Do you have other things enabled like WiFi, NFC, Bluetooth, GPS, auto sync etc. which could keep the phone awake ? Download Devcheck from play store and check if your device is going to deep sleep.

Gps is on as well as wifi.
However as i have posted the battery usage per service. Only cell standby seems to be hogging most of the battery...
I am only left with resetting my device as a last alternative.
Checked via devcheck, it's a no go for deep sleep.

Android battery usage data can be unreliable. To check if cell standby is what actually draining battery try this-
Before you go to Bed, open Devcheck app on your phone and take a screenshot of deep sleep time after that leave your phone alone. Next morning open the app again and check the Deep sleep time. If all those hours are added to deep sleep, then cell standby is the actual cause of the battery drain. If the deep sleep time is similar to the night or only slightly different, then something else is keeping the phone awake and draining the battery.

General No Deep Doze unless I disable Sim-Card

Hey guys,
I always wondered, why my phone wouldnt Deep Doze (according to Gsam). Be aware: I am not talking of the Deep Sleep (the CPU state, that is happening).
I always lost between 1,5 and 2% per hour overnight with the phone just sitting on the table, connected to the home wifi.
I disabled the Sim-Card (physical one, no e-sim) before going to bed tonight and my phone deep dozed now.
Yes, I am aware that there is this Mobile Network Standby Drain Bug. But since I disabled "Always use mobile date" in developer settings and was using WIFI during mentioned times, I dont know how that appiles to me.
Anyone has ideas?
Thanks!
Put it into airplane mode overnight and see if you get the drain. At least you'll know if it's a app or radio issue.

no offense dude, but did u read my post? see above.
What the heck is deep doze?
As stated above, it is a doze state that is being entered after the light doze. Check Gsam battery for your stats regarding deep doze.
I had the same problem, dropping 2-3% per hour over night. I turned 5G off, turned off 'mobile data always active' in developer settings and turned off adaptive connectivity.
Now im only losing .2-.5% per hour overnight.

Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me. Light doze, deep doze, medium awake doze.. come on look at your cpu stats and deep sleep when screen is off. If it's not deep sleeping overnight at least 90% then something is keeping the phone awake and you need to find it. Get BBS and look at your alarms and partial wakelocks. You have a runaway program that is constantly waking up your device. Mine was Mi Fit and I tweaked it so it's not awake all night long. Went from 1.8% / hour to 0.4% - 0.7% consistently.
@Napa7m Insta and WhatsApp shouldn't be doing it. Not sure about Telegram but I do recall some issues a year ago and I deleted it from the phone.

Either something is using up power when device should be deep sleeping, or it's just defective.
So he's right, monitor app usage and go from there. The built-in battery stats work well enough. It's how I discovered that 'mobile network standby' was consuming 20-30% over night with nothing going on.
DOn't forget to expand the 'system usage' at the very bottom of 'battery usage'.

I did and it still sounds like you're looking in the wrong place for your awake status. It's a background process that can't really be tweaked or modified on it's own. But alarms and wakelocks can that's why I said look there first. If your phone is not deep sleeping err.. deep dozing then something is keeping it awake. Find it and you're home free. What kind of deep sleep are you getting overnight?

I have about the same as you, mobile network standby around 20-25% overnight. I don't turn off 5G but I am connected to wireless with a very good signal. I have mobile data always active enabled as well as adaptive connectivity enabled. What I did to was turn off every adaptive setting in battery settings. Perhaps it's the wifi I'm connected to but I'm getting average 0.5-0.6% drain overnight. Deep sleep around 92 %. As I said, I did see some partial wakelocks and alarms when I was almost 2% / hour and either deleted the apps or figured out how to stop/slow them when not in use.
@bobby janow ok my man. first of all. a read for you, what deep/light doze is: https://www.andreasschrade.com/android-battery-optimisations
and no, its not the same as deep sleep. deep sleep is the cpu frequency.
my phone is now (out of a sudden) going into deep doze overnight, so that seems fine. also wakelocks couldnt have prevented my phone from going into deep doze, cause then, it would have also not gone into deep doze when I had my cd-card disabled (since there should be still wakelocks, when my phone is connected to wifi and all, right
since mobile standby is concerningly huge in the battery stats i assume its the usual culprit, but disabling adaptive connectivity, 5g and enabling that dev option does not help.
tho i am willing to find some wakelocks (since they seem to affect the device also a bit in terms of my standby drain). according to gsam everything is fine in that department, cant really find unusual wakelocks. does bbs show more there? im not very keen in running an adb to make it work...what does that command line do exactly?
thanks!!
@xflowy BBS needs 4 adb commands and it takes about 30 seconds to complete with a copy and paste from his thread. It has two wakelocks stats, kernel and partial. The kernel ones are meaningless to me but the partial tell a lot, you'll see. Also just as important is the alarms stat. It gives you that amount of time an app is firing i.e. wakeups. Check it out see if it helps you. Thanks for the read, but it's beer day today and that looks like it will take all my concentration. Lol.
@xflowy On first read it looks like battery optimization regulates doze mode, right? I mean that's really the only way?
It also happened to me after many tests I have managed to solve it, deactivating the sim card and esim, and restart, then activate the sims and drain solved, it already goes into deep sleep.
I have the exact same issue. I thought I'm the only one. But I'm unable to resolve with this by disabling sim n reboot method. Can anyone suggest if it's hardware fault ?

Question Xiaomi.eu 13.0.9 standby battery drain

My battery drains around 1.5% per hour even after turning off AOD and wake screen for notifications setting. When those settings were on, it was draining 3-4% per hour. Has anyone else noticed the same? Any suggestions to improve the standby drain?
Are these numbers with WiFi and mobile data on? Airplane mode off?
Wifi on. Data off. Airplane mode off.
I'm using a different ROM but I've experienced similar numbers. It's obviously better with WiFi off but that's possibly not the point

Will check tonight
under the battery or 3rd party like accubattery should show you what's draining it , Im on the EU weekly and have no such problems
You could try a Custom Kernel like Nexus Kernel
NotZeetaa, the dev behind Nexus Kernel also made a Magisk Module "BatterySaverMod v1.2" that can be found in the Nexus Telegram Group, which limits performance a little bit but reduces Power-consumption for active drain.
You could check with Activity Launcher from Play Store, if the settings-page "Running Services" still exists but may just be unlinked from Settings-GUI.
For me 5g stopped work since 13.0.7
I'm also experience battery drain in 13.0.9 and occasionally network failures. Many times calls ended and receive the message "network not availabe". I've done a factory reset. Will have to do it again
Till this rom have everything work perfectly
I used better battery stats and it showed that wifi had a lot of wakelocks and was preventing the phone from entering deep sleep. I turned off wifi and standby drain went to around 0.5% per hour. I think voice over wifi is the culprit here. I will observe the drain tonight with VoWifi off.

5g is pretty much useless anyway unless youre downloading very large files. It uses a lot of battery and makes the phone warm as well. I would suggest setting the preferred network type to 4g as it is more than enough for everyday use and saves battery as well.
You guys could use "Naptime" from Play Store. It supports ADB or Root.
