Side widget help - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Hey guys,
I have a quick question. T mobile just had a new update that give ua side bar so u can use ur side widget while in lock screen. For example the side bar can give u quick access to to frequently used apps and favorite contacts etc. My question is, let's say i put the clock or calender or calculator in the side bar. It's there anyway i can just open the app with out unlocking my phone? Or u always have to unlock ur phone to use simple apps?

I've got fingerprint security on and there's no way to access anything other than a quick glance in the side drawer without unlocking the phone.

[Q] First time ICS/Nexus user group of questions that have been asked before

I imagine many of these questions have been asked before but I didn't see a FAQ so I thought I'd compose a list of questions that I think others such as myself (inane) might ask upone their first use of the GN.
1. Can I move the google search at the top to another location or make it the size of a single app shortcut?
2. Can I move the apps shortcut at the bottom from the center to the right.
3. Is there a toggle button/shortcut/widget i can put on my desktop that easily allows you to switch from 4G to 3G (and 3G to 4G) without going through the settings? - preferrably right at the very top where the indicators are - I'd like to put an on off for wifi up there too.
4. Why does Voicemail take so long each time I open it - says Please wait- Verifying your account information this may take a minute - I have already configured my voice greeting and my personal name and a security code.
5. How do I get the configure menu in apps - I used to click on something that looked like the top half of a paper with a few lines on it - I want to customize some settings withing some apps but don't know how to get there. - Found that while asking this question - far right bottom of the screen - within an app a few dots like a : with an extra dot.
6. I want to change the way the screen lock works. I typically hold the phone in my right hand and want to unlock swipe it with my thumb. My thumb would much better swipe from bottom middle to top right corner of the screen - not directly across. Silly question I know but I don't want to have to use two hands to unlock my phone.
7. I heard there was a tweak for cranking up the volume - does that require rooting?
This is in reference to stock:
1. No
2. No
3, No
4. Dunno, I use Google Voice.
Thanks for the quick answer.
I don't see a shortcut for google voice - all I want to do is listen to my voicemails, know when I have them (e.g. number count on the icon). Is google voice something I need to install?

It's a static search bar at the top across home screens. You can definitely change this if you're rooted. But you can change this without rooting if you use a home screen replacement app such as Nova Launcher (play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher).

Again, you can't do this in stock as adrynalyne said, but you can if you use something like Nova Launcher.

There's no built in shortcut for toggling this option. If you have an app like Tasker (costs money), or some shortcut creator, you ought to be able to do this. You can always search for LTE or 4G toggle in Google Play (Android Market) if you just want this singular function.
4. Why does Voicemail take so long each time I open it - says Please wait- Verifying your account information this may take a minute - I have already configured my voice greeting and my personal name and a security code.

I'm not sure why this is happening, but if you use Google Voice, you should be able to see via notifications and/or widget whether you have a voicemail or not. It is a separate app installable from Google Play (play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.googlevoice&hl=en).
5. The menu button has been switched in ICS to a conceptual options bar. Some apps still use the menu function as you described with : and an extra dot.

Not sure how to configure the lock screen to your liking, but WidgetLocker (play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.widgetlocker) might help serve your needs.
Thanks -
I just noticed the indicator at the top - I was using the Smith Micro voicemail app, but I like it better than the default so when someone blurts out information like a different phone number I can playback just that part of the message.

Widget that can show Cellular Signal, Battery, bluetooth and wifi status?

I want to use the option to hide my notification bar at the top which will hide my mobile/bluetooth/wifi status.
I was hoping to find a way to add them back to the home screen in the form of a customizable widget.
I tried using UCCW widgets but they don't offer anything other than dates/time/weather etc.
thanks in advance

Check out Dashclock and the dashnet extension on Playstore. The Dashnet extension doesn't show Bluetooth status but there may be anouther extension that does.

[Q] Lockscreen customization

Is there any way to change the quick launch apps at the bottom of the lock screen or the clock/weather?

The quick launch apps are based on your standard app dock on the bottom. If you want to switch it, you can download a new lock app. I use Holo Locker myself and really like it.

Allow any widget to be added to the lockscreen?

I've been searching for a way to allow any widget to be added to my Galaxy Note III lockscreen. I am using TouchWiz 4.4.2. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There is an Xposed module that allows you to add most widgets to your lockscreen. It's called the "Samsung Multiple Widget" module. It also adds back the 'swipe right for camera' option. Thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2363189
Edit: The thread above is the original thread, but the Dev is no longer working on it, so another user picked up where he left off. Thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-samsungmultiplewidgets-kitkat-t2690190
Also, you might want to install the "Notification Mod" as well to get notifications on Touchwiz if you are using a secured lock screen. The way Samsung stopped allowing us to access the notifications when there is a pin/pattern is very annoying.
Let me know if you need any help getting either of those installed (but it's pretty self-explanatory).

Thanks for the reply man.
So I get all that but what i am trying to accomplish is to allow ANY widget to be allowed to be on the lock screen. For example HD widgets official lock screen widgets only has the Glass Gems packages. If I was able to "trick" the system into thinking I was just adding a widget to a home screen, not the lock screen, I would have many more options as to what I can add. Not as concerned about the number of widgets allowed. I was able to do this on the note 2 with some mod, but I don't remember what it was called.

I wish I could be more helpful. I don't use HD widgets, so I can't test it and see what works. But from looking at the cloud.tv FAQ, it looks like you should be able to get other themes/packages working on the lockscreen. This is what it says:
I can only see the Glass Gems style widgets in my Widget menu. Where are the other themes?
New themes are installed automatically and available for you to use in the app as soon as you've downloaded them from the Play Store. However, you won’t see the new theme style widgets in your Widget menu. The Glass Gems style widget that you see in your widget menu are just examples for each of the widget sizes. Once you've selected a widget size, you’ll be able to switch between themes from inside the app.
How do I change themes after I've picked a widget size?
After you've selected a widget size, tap on the theme name in the top right corner of the configure screen and to reveal the drop down menu. Then tap the theme you'd like to use.
Select new widget themes from the drop down menu (See screenshot below)
Also,
How do I add & remove lock screen widgets?
Deleting lockscreen widgets is really easy. Simply long press on the widget and drag to Remove.
How you'll add lockscreen widgets will differ slightly depending on your device.
For non HTC and Samsung devices:
When viewing your lockscreen swipe left to right starting with the clock until you see the add (+) button.
For most Samsung devices including Galaxy S3 and S4:
First enable lockscreen widgets in your device Settings. Go to Settings, then Lock Screen and check the box to enable Multiple Widgets. Then, when viewing your lock screen, swipe left to right until you see the add (+) button.
Note: Samsung have disabled lock screen widgets with pin or password. If you are using a secure lock screen setting, you won’t be able to use lock screen widgets.
The last part is true only if you don't use the Xposed mod that I posted earlier.
So, it looks like even though you will only see the glass gems widgets, you can still select the different theme/package you want after you have selected the widget size. I hope that helps. And if you already know all this stuff then I apologize.
Is there any way to automatically HIDE the PIN screen? It cut off the widgets, like DashClock. I have to swipe down, look at the widget, then swipe up to bring the pin screen back.

No, not without disabling it. And for the former try xlocky plugin for xposed, that may allow to use the widgets you want

Removing Lock Screen Icons

Hello there - I just got my Pixel 2 directly from Google and apparently there's no option to remove the camera and assistant icons from the lock screen. I was able to do this on my GS7 using Android 7, but for some reason Google decided to remove that option for this phone on Android 8. Does anyone here have a trick to remove those icons? Perhaps this feature is already being restored per request somewhere on the next build? The only thing I want people to see on the lock screen is the time and the prompt to unlock if they try to unlock the phone. I don't want anyone to be able to use the camera on the lock screen.
Thanks for the help.
The only way i know to do that is with a substratum theme called lock clean
