Heyo!
A few weeks ago I sent my LG G4 into the service because of faulty connector ( known issue that makes device to stay on bootloading screen ) and then for a faulty camera. After it has been returned, I saw a BIG, HUGE and SIGNIFICANT problem: charging with the original USB Data Cable ( which came with the phone ) takes more than 3 hours to get to full battery. The time was never great, but it was never like this. I also have a small USB Charging Only cable ( which came with a portable battery that I bought ) which charges the phone in about 1h 30-40m ( or something like that ) from 5% to 100%. The thing is that the small one has been damaged ( almost like the iphone chargers do, but on the other end ) and I need a new one. So can anyone suggest some cheap USB Charging Only cables?
I use the cable from my Galaxy S4 and that works fantastic!

Help you on what man? Suggest a cheap USB cable? At what part of the world?
If it's cheap then it's unbranded. If it's unbranded how can one refer to it?
You want links to cables from eshops?
The world is full of USB cables. Just try cables from your older phones, or if you don't have, from phones of friends or family.
In the end, just buy one. They' re... cheap!

Cheap sould mean cheap in most parts of the world, right? I would have said 'thanks' for a damn link that led me to some usb charge only cable for my phone. If i had any other cable that would work, from me or anyone i know, would i still be here asking for that only so i can get a frustrated answer from you? Thanks for you devine help and advice because i can now die in peace. Please close this thread. Case solved.

Me too, it used to charge fast, now it's so slow, I change the cable, it's way better... but cheap cable they gave.
Hello,
Same problem here, yesterday my usb cable shows me 4 hours to charge while he usually tells me an hour even changing decision so I took another usb cable (the one in my X98 tablet Air III) and worries disappeared. I do not know why and how, but good .. LG really starting to disappoint me (bootloader block, problems with Rom, load, heating, autonomy ..) ..

Recently bought these ones because of the QC2 specification. Well, very content as even the longest (3m) cable charges at full strength :good:

That seems to be exactly what I want. I'll try to find only one cable because 5 is too much.

Since the Verizon Nexus is out, is anyone not going to be using the supplied wall plug charger adapter because they have something else/better ? I bought mine from the UK and it came with this behemoth sized "international" adapter that makes weird noises when it rapes/charges my battery :x
if any1 has a charger they dont really want, id be willing to throw in a few bucks for it :] plus shipping of course
As far as I know (and please correct me if I'm wrong) you can use any Android charger with micro USB. In fact, I used my OG Droid car charger on the way home and have it plugged into the Droid wall charger as I type this. It's working just fine.
So if you have a charger from an old Android phone, try it out.
p.s.
I would refrain from using that euro charger. You might fry your battery. Happened to a friend of mine from Australia earlier this year when he first moved here and didn't have a US phone.

I actually don't. I sold/returned all my old phones along with their adapters. I bought a $25 charger but its not "compatible" with my phone so, instead of charging at its usual 1amp, it only does 5mAh
Here's a link to a wall charger from Amazon,
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Trave...E70I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323972023&sr=8-1
$3.12.. looks like the same charger from Galaxy S1 and Nexus S.
Comparing the USB from Nexus S & Galaxy Nexus.. the Nexus S has a longer USB cable.
I'm interested in this as well. I'd like to identify another charger that can charge at full speed so I can replace that bulky U.K. charger.

Should be .7amp, the proper voltage for this phone.

Hi,
Does anyone know how I can charge the battery without the phone?
I tried to connect a USB cable (red & black wires) tot the + and - of the battery (correct polarity, I checked on the internet).
But that doesn't make sense, battery isn't charged after several hours.
Does any1 know how I can do this?
Thx very much!
Pieter
Why not just get a charger from eBay or Amazon? Doing it your way, even if it sort of works, may do serious damage to the battery. And the last thing you want to do its smoke a lithium ion battery.

not sure if it safe/possible to it any other way then in the phone or a charger ment for it. there are universal ones and ones specific to the g2/dz that charge the batter without the phone. if you were do get it charging another way you may overcharge it, granted I believe the oem batteries should have a function to stop the charge @ a certain point but why taje the chance?

If you can afford to check on amazom.com. I bought an universal external wall charger from them and it came with 2 batteries as well.

Thx 4 your help.
I will explain why I'm asking this question:
the USB port of my Desire Z is broken.
I have ordered a completely new motherboard to fix this issue.
The board will be send to my homecountry from Hong Kong.
They will send it this week.
Until then, I have no Desire Z because the battery is empty and I can't charge anymore...
I can't remember the brand, but over at Staples there are these 7$ USB adapters for just bout any kind of battery , you just move the prongs to the contacts on the battery and slip it into a USB port (but given how our batteries have the contacts on the bottom instead of on the wide surface that may be difficult).
But yea I would say using an actual charger would be your best bet.
Where did you order your motherboard from?

Thanks.

here you go, something like this.
Hi, i'm a heavy user some days, so I need a compact charger I can put on my keyring. I thought I had the perfect one of eBay for ~$3 (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200720521235?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649)
However, after several tests using "Charger Timer" I figured out that it only chargers at 500ma-thus making it take a very long time to charge. The point in this charger is to provide me with a quick battery boost ad-hoc, but it's pointless as it takes 1hr20 for a full charger(stock at 1000ma takes 40 minutes)
The seller offered me a replacement, but I'm not sure whether to take it incase I wait weeks then find out its the same low-output charger.
This is a popular charger (dx, eBay)-does anyone else own it? Does it work for you at 1.0a?
Can anyone suggest a cheap alternative compact charger?

i dont know if this would work for you or not, but I just ordered the Anker Astro Slim 3 and it has two ports that will charge at 1 Amp each. It is slim enough that i have been able to charge my Galaxy S3 while using the phone and stacking the charger directly behind it. So far, i am very pleased with it. I am attaching a couple of pictures so that you can see it. I am charging my nexus 10 and my nexus S in the picture. Hope this is helpful
Thanks for that!
But I'm after something much more compact.
I'm really surprised this isn't a common thing-having it on my keyring (even if 0.5a) has been incredibly handy.
Any other suggestions?

Has anyone got a suggestion for me yet?
I've finally received the one I ordered, and no surprise, despite being advertised as 1a, it charges slooowly at 0.5a.
Size of it was prefect- fit nicely on my keyring and wasn't even bulky
And then after a week, it broke...
I like Anker stuff as well since I reviewed a lot of their products (in my signature link). The problem is that it sound like you are not from US, Australia from your ebay link? That is always an issue because a lot of US companies deal only with a few international amazon. You mentioned DX.com - love their products as well, reviewed a lot of their stuff, always a pleasure to deal with, and they ship to Australia without a problem.
Here is my thought about your 500mA charging. Are you sure its not a cable? Most of today's chargers are 1A-2A (all new Galaxy stuff charges at fast 2A speed) while tablets like Nexus 7 use at least 1A. So it's easy to get 1A charging speed out of most of today's chargers since they all use a common voltage/current regulator chips inside. BUT, you will LIMIT your current with usb cable. A lot of these cheap cables are designed for computers, and a common USB2.0 PC port only outputs 500mA, and cables are made out of thin wire. Thin wire will limit your current, will overheat, and will create other problems. For 2A you need to use USB cable with a thicker wires. So just look around your house for different usb cables to confirm. Usually the OEM cable that comes with your phone will be designed for max charging speed of your phone. I like buying Monoprice cables, but again not sure if they ship overseas.
At DX, look for the HTC One chargers. After lots of frustrating purchases those were the only that I could find that delivered the mentioned current.
I think you may have trouble finding one that fits your country's wall socket.
Have you tried different cables? My S3 draws anything between 0.3 and 1A from my charger depending on the cable I use.

No to anything with the name Samsung. The LG Optimus G Pro E980 charger plug I have is 5v 1.8amp. Get any correct USB cable and make sure the plug is at least 1.8amp, a 2amp plug will also work. I have trouble with generic car chargers that are only 1amp, they keep my phone alive but take hours to charge it and it will eventually burn up the USB cable but not harm the phone. Trial and error results.:good:

You can use an iPad charger, which is rated at 2.1mA if you have one of those. The charger I got with my phone was 1.2mA, should get at least 1.5mA rated charger for faster charging performance.

Look for a used iPad charger in your local market. It can be for the iPad 1st gen even. I've never used off-market chargers with expensive gadgets, a couple of my friends' phones were fried that way.
I have noticed, keep in mind I just got this phone so still learning it, when my battery wasn't fully charged the LED on the home button wasn't working quite right. It was working but very dim. Now that the battery is fully charged the LED is nice and bright and not dimming on me. Is this normal? A power saving feature maybe? Or could there be something wrong with the LED board underneath?
And most Ipad chargers are putting out [email protected] amps. Isn't that a bit too much?

Will this do the trick?.....
Maybe it's just me, but seems like my charging has slowed down. When I'm plugged in in doesn't say fast charging like my Note 4 did, it just says cable charging. Does everyone else's just say cable charging.
Disconect and conect
Same trouble here, unplugging and plugging back in fixes it, but I am returning it for a new one. I shouldn't need to do that

This seems odd.. I take your word for it but at the same time, are you sure it's actually "fast charging"?
How long does it take for your phone to go from 0-5% up to "complete charge"? And also, how long does it then take to go from 100% to dead?

It says fast charging with new cables every single time before would only say cable charging and had to mess with it a few times before it changed.I just bought a second set of cable from ebay and works every single time.
