Has anyone gotten their April security OTA yet? I received the phone a few weeks ago and flashed the March OTA right away and relocked bootloader afterwards because I did not want to sit through several incremental updates. So I am wondering if something went wrong. Does it usually take this long after a new factory image is released for it to get pushed OTA? Sorry, this is my first Nexus since the Galaxy Nexus/Nexus S days.
I own an italian LG Nexus 5X (32 GB variant) and I have received no April update for my phone till now... still waiting

Sometimes ive gotten then within a week sometimes not for 3 weeks ish. Seems fairly random.
Just read up on sideloading the OTA update via ADB, thats what I do now rather than wait. Doesnt need any bootloader unlocking or anything.
Same here: i suggest you to read this https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/fOAWe8jMRsQ so you'll be more relaxed.
We get it when we get, that's all!
I'm on international variant of the 5x on AT&T here in US and I received the OTA already for April
I've got news!
My Nexus 5X received the OTA tonight at 8.00 PM
Got mine in UK at about 6pm tonight

I'm also waiting for the update to show up.
I'm also based in the UK and got mine already last week. One thing, though: I've noticed that after the update, the location icon will at one point start to show up permanently in the notification bar, and whenever that happens, my battery drains pretty quickly. Only solution I found was to turn off gps/location. Is anyone else also experiencing this?
got mine in ćzech at 13.april

So I just bought the GSM version of the Galaxy Nexus. It is yakju and I am using it with AT&T. No matter how many times I've tried I cannot get the phone to do an OTA update to at least 4.0.2, let alone 4.0.4. So I have a couple questions, keeping in mind that I am not particularly interested in rooting and would rather just do an OTA update.
1. Will the 4.0.2 update eventually come through if I wait? I don't mind waiting, but I don't want to wait indefinitely without making any progress.
2. If I do want to or need to do a manual update, can I go straight from 4.0.1 to 4.0.4?
Like I said, I would prefer to wait for the OTA update as I'm having no issues with 4.0.1 right now.
On a completely unrelated note, I have 14 days to return this phone. If you were me, would you return it and wait for the One X. I like the idea of having a raw android Google phone, but the One X seems attractive.
I think you should get an iphone.
iphone. helping computer illiteracy become popular since 2007.
I received my Nexus about a week ago. Within 5 minutes of turning it on I received the 4.02 OTA update. 10 minutes later I was rooted and running CM9 so I can't say if I would have received the 4.04 OTA update.

get stock images and flash to 4.0.4.
search the forums on how to do that.

There are already lots of spammy nerd bashing threads on this topic. No one can make this decision for you.
You have a few options....
1. Download Factory images for 4.0.4 from Google and use Galaxy Nexus Toolkit to flash (you will lose all your data and pictures, videos, music)
2. Root your phone (you'll still lose your data because you have to unlock your bootloader)
3. Wait for the 4.0.2 update than the 4.0.4 update
Your choice
When you get the HTC One X you gonna be saying how much you wish you had AOSP

Or when Android 5.0, "when will One X be getting Android 5.0?!"
Same Here
I guess were both on the same boat Except i am on Tmobile. As soon as i unboxed and setup my Gnex this past friday i was expecting an OTA update to 4.0.4. But appearantly that wasn't the case as i am still stuck on 4.0.1 two days later. I am really hoping i get that OTA soon...there is no way i am rooting ever again. My last phone which was a Samsung Vibrant had a custom ICS rom...everything was well until i was greeted by the deadly "Encryption Unsuccessful" screen not knowing what to do i hit reset phone. 1 min later my phones only use was as a door stop.
I know this may sound kind of silly but maybe we haven't received our updates because its the weekend . Im waiting till monday to see if i get the OTA update. Hopefully it arrives soon.

Most OTAs roll out in groups. Well at least from the last time I did a OTA .. I guess thats how they still work. Only so many users get them at a time. Not everyone who has a gnex get it at once

Now that I see other people having this problem, I think OTA updates for 100% stock Android 4.0.1 Samsung i9250 Galaxy Nexus are just not happening at all for now... (verbiage/garbiage deleted
As for my Nexus One(s)... (I'll just say I never saw this happen)
EDIT:
At about 8pm MDT (GMT-06:00) in the US, my i9250 finally updated from 4.0.2 to 4.0.4. I consider this an important validation of the integrity of my device. Earlier today I flashed 4.0.2 but still had to wait.
So clearly there was a period of days (March 30 to April 2 at least) that OTA updates where not happening for the i9250. This was alarming because I've rolled my i9250 back to 100% stock Android 4.0.1 several times after playing with different ROMs. Each time it quickly updated to 4.0.2. This time it took a few days. For a while I was worried my phone had a problem.
I just rolled back to a stock ROM 4 days ago.
But did only get 1 OTA update immediately after first boot. The one from ITL41D to ITL41F (4.0.1).
No OTA to 4.0.2 or even 4.0.4 yet. (All imgs are stock ITL41F with locked bootloader of course)
Hi, I purchased this phone about a week ago and have loved it so far. I saw that Android 7 came out a day ago but when I search for updates I get the message that my device is up to date even though it's on 6.0.1. I have not rooted my phone yet (or even unlocked my bootloader), in short I have not messed with my phone yet, it's as it was when it came from the box (except for the OTAs installed).
All I can think the reason for this may be my region since I live in Pakistan. With my previous phone, I used to get the OTAs on time but this is my first nexus phone and I'm a bit disappointed that I'm not getting the update as soon as it is rolled out if that really is the case. Also, does anyone have an idea when I'll get my update?
this is called a staged rollout. it is to ensure the stability of the update servers as well as to grant google a chance to put an update on hold and safe the majority of the trouble, should critical errors come to light during the early phase of a rollout

Oh, so how long should it take given the staged rollout goes well.

i believe up to two wrrks, but don't quote me on that. you could always make use of the beta-program to skip the line as i did. just look through some recent threads here or over at androidpolice

You will get OTA update in first 2 weeks of the month, I always get about 15th day in the month, so don't worry.
How mate said, you can use android beta program, just you will get final update and after upgrade just leave android beta program

I'm on Verizon and I'm in the same boat. I wouldn't sweat it. I'm sure it will come soon, these roll outs are staggered. On my old 6p it seemed I was always about a week or two out before getting the update.
I assume there will have to be an update to the root method before we will be able to obtain root after installing the new build?
Have you tried removing sim, rebooting, and trying to search for update again on WiFi with the sim out? My last phone was an unlocked model and it seemed like Verizon didn't want me to get updates but the above tip worked.

I believe the OTA just came out today.
On other Pure Nexus devices I may not receive the OTA for a few days.
If your not rooted then you just download the system image from the google developer site. Take out the -W command to wipe device and you will be fully updated.
because your pixel is not l33t
The update states that it could take time for the update to become available in each location...
You can side load the ota with fastboot. That's what I did and Im on Verizon.
Updates typically roll out over the course of a couple of weeks. Be patient or sideload the OTA yourself
the thing is that i got my pixel straight from google and my friend who lives in the same area got his pixel from verizon and already has his update. My father's 1 year old nexus 6p already has the update as well clearly google does not have their priorities straight.

Most likely gets rolled out by production number or something. Your buddy's phone was probably made before yours, and your father must've purchased his Nexus 6P right when it was released. Like someone else said, these things take time anyways. Be patient or take the time to sideload the OTA yourself.

Funny my Pixel C got the update yesterday.
I had a strange issue - I hit "Check for Update" and my device began downloading the 263MB update. Once finished downloading, it went to step 2, however it never moved past Step 2. A restart didn't fix the issue. Anything I can do? I'd obviously still would like the update despite whatever strange bug this is. This is a Google Store bought Pixel, on T-Mobile.
Project Fi phone on "V" image.
So yesterday I restored to stock V image.
Wiped everything.
Installed factory V.
Didn't root, kernel or install TWRP.
Nada.
Then checked every hour or so for the O update.
Nothing.
Here I am, 24 hours and still no update available.
So I tried turning off WiFi.
Rebooted.
Waited 20 minutes and then checked and found an update.
Could just be coincidence or maybe enabling data (turning off WiFi) somehow triggered the update as being available.
Just got a brand new unlocked pixel XL yesterday (uk). It's still on February security patch and 7.1.1. Contacted Google support (who aren't really helpful or knowledgeable it seems) and they say it's fine and can take a couple weeks after updates are released but it's been months since 7.1.2 and this is July security we are up to now. The rep also try to say 7.1.2 is beta?.
I just upgraded from Nexus 5x which was right up to date with 7.1.2 and July patch. Is anyone else still on old security and os or is mine not doing something right?
Thanks

We are supposed to have the July security update?? I received mine straight from Google last week on 7.1.2 and june security
Yes, the July update is out now. My pixel actually lost sound after failing to update.
Are you simply waiting for the ota, or are you physically checking? If youre waiting, got settings, phone status, and at the very top should be system updates. Click on it and check for new software.

I think the rep meant it can take up to two weeks after the phone is activated to receive a security update. If your Pixel XL is brand new then it's been sitting in a warehouse with the power off so it wouldn't be up to date when you got it. Mine kept showing that there were no available updates until I rebooted the phone--then all of a sudden the latest update popped up as being available for download. I'm on Project Fi though--if you are on Verizon or another carrier it might take a little longer for the update to hit your phone.
best to manually check, it's the only way I've ever found them, if I know the update is out, I'll normally try the check a couple of times and then the update pops up.

When I got my new Pixel XL I was on an old build of Android and checked manually on and off all day and it never showed an available update which was driving me batty. For some reason I decided to reboot my phone at 1:30 am and the reboot took a really long time which was making me concerned. But when the phone finally booted up I got a message that an update was downloaded and available to install. The update actually downloaded while the phone was rebooting.

might be different if it's already updated as I've had mine since day 1. (was surprised I got it only ordered about a week before launch due to the Note 7 mess up)
So I just received a notification about a system update for my phone. It's just very strange since I've never received one on this phone at all. I'm stock/rooted. on AT&T. It says it's about 1.2GB in size. Just wondering if anyone else had received anything like that? I really do need to update my phone, hell I think I'm still on the December patch. I'm not a noob but have been stuck on un-rootable phones for the last 3 years or so and things have changed quite a bit from what I'm used to

If you are still on December's patch then there will be more than 1 update. Although 1.2 gigs seems high for a monthly patch

Yeah, I thought the same thing. I was just going to update to the newest patch and see if the update still came up or not. I'm curious to what it is since it is such a large size. See pic.
I received it as well, with exactly the same size as yours.
And my system version is up to March...
I'm on May and just got the message.

Your first instinct was correct. Update your phone manually and ignore any OTA's.
