BOOTLOOP issue with bootloader unlocked! Will G4 be repaired ? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

soo I made some digging through the internet and i found Official LG statement about G4 and it says that :
"LG Electronics has been made aware of a booting issue with the LG G4 smartphone that has now been identified as resulting from a loose contact between components. Customers who are experiencing booting issues with their LG G4s should contact their local carrier from where the G4 was purchased or a nearby LG Service Center (LG Electronics) for repair under full warranty."
I have unlocked bootloader and they sent me back my G4 from service with bill for over 250$...
I focused on that sentence : " Customers who are experiencing booting issues with their LG G4s should contact their local carrier from where the G4 was purchased or a nearby LG Service Center (LG Electronics) for repair under full warranty."
Soo , what do you think about it ?
When I show that sentence to the service , will G4 get repaired ? or it will provide something else ?
(I'm sorry for my English , if it's bad ,because I am from Poland and it's not my native language )

I believe they usually regard unlocking the bootloader as voiding the warranty. Some have gotten theirs fixed while a lot of others haven't.

Depends on where you at, because I believe in Germany your warranty is not void if you unlock bootloader, cause LG HAS to treat Hardware issues differently form Software Issues, so they are not allowed here to take your warranty away from you if you tweak Software Side

But what about the warranty? Where have you bought it at? I have mine from MediaMarkt, just emailed them, they told I should bring it to them... I'm just thinking what they will tell me when they will see "Bootloader Unlocked" message

Lg hungariy say :no

Unlocked bootloader with bootloop / motherboard issue
Hello, I've face the same bootloop issue recently, I had unlocked bootloader. I've contected with LG customer support, where I described the whole situation. I've returned the device (as the customer care suggested me by knowing the situation) to a Hungarian - local - LG service. Now regardless what LG's customer care said they don't want to replace my motherboard because of the unlocked bootloader. :crying:
What you suggest me to do? Where can I check that why someone's got repaired while the other's aren't? It depends on where you live, that they fix this problem or not (even with unlocked bootloader)?
ps: I've got a H815, with T-Mobile carrier lock
Thanks forwards!

[Q] To be aware before bootloop

Hi everyone. As we know some of our phones died due to bootloop cause of defective motherboard (or something). I have already had rooted and bootloader unlocked H815. Bootloop did not happen to me but i want to know that if it happen, will i loose warranty cause of bootloader unlocked device?
That's correct. No warranty. Even though unlocking has nothing to do with faulty motherboard or faulty ota or whatever broke it. Anyway i'm thinking that its impossible that lg not knowing the certain action thats triggering the bootloop and could release a patch or something to prevent it.
I took mine to the Sprint store when mine went into boot loops and they replaced mine free of charge. They were aware of the motherboard situation, the only downside was I had to wait for them to ship mine in which was only a few days.

They are both correct.
It depends where the device was purchased.
In the US, if purchased from a carrier they will normally replace through insurance or if still in warranty. I assume this may be the same worldwide, if purchased directly from carrier (I'm sure I will be corrected, if this is not so )
If you purchase the device outright (Ex. eBay, swappa online store) you are responsible for the service charge. UNLESS the online store offers some limited warranty.
LG will NOT simply replace/repair without proof of purchase.

Is there someone here who received the phone repaired with unlock BL?

Some users from other forum (htcmania) told us that LG have repaired their defective phones (Series from 505 to 509) even when their phones were unlocked...
According to LG page, you lose your guarantee if you unlock your phone, but I think LG must repair them even after you have unlocked your Bootloaders
Why? Because this problem was when you bought the phone... and of course much before you had unlocked your phone..and its LG fault, not yours... they sold you a defective phone... According to Laws they have to repair them
(In Europe we have 2 years of guarantee of every product)
My point is that I would like to know if this case happens very often with another LG users
Were your phones with bootloop replaced when your bootloaders were unlocked?
PD: Sorry for my bad English!

Bootlooping not sure if caused by me or the hardware fault?

Model H815, bought the device at launch. From UK.
So a couple weeks ago I was messing around with rooting and all that, managed to flash a bad file and ended up in a boot loop. Fixed it using LG Bridge, flashed all the right files and was running a rooted device fine.
Then maybe a week after that whilst just using the phone normally, it freezes, the speakers make a weird buzzing noise and then the phone turns off. Ever since it has been bootlooping. I tried fixing it using LG Bridge again, using the 'Update Error Recovery' option with the device in download mode, it says it was successful but the device still bootloops.
Not sure what to do? Will LG replace the board if it is a hardware fault even though the bootloader is unlocked? I may have also taken the phone apart with the intention of baking it, but never did. Would they be able to tell that I did that and then not repair it?
How much would a repair cost if for some reason it wasn't covered? What's the best way to get it repaired? I got it on contract from O2.
Also, if anyone knows where I can buy a motherboard that would be great, as I'd rather just repair it at home instead of sending it off to LG not knowing if they are going to charge me or not.
Thanks in advance.
It is caused by hardware fail, not by you.
Some people admitted that LG repaired their phone with unlocked bootloader, no luck for me, trying to argue with them.
They'll give you a number to SBE (Their 3rd party repair service), again few people admitted that they repaired their phones for freaking free. No luck for me as well here. They've said "It's unprofitable for them to repair it". I actually think they are retarded, thats a quote of first 2 sentences from their response to me: "hank you for your email. If your handset is still in warranty we would ask that you contact LG customer services for further advice, as we only carryout non warranty repairs on behalf of LG. If your handset is out of warranty by date unfortunately we may be unable to offer a viable repair solution." - WTF is that?
Lastly there is no official place where you can buy a mobo, asked LG about 2 weeks ago - no response...

This is a common problem on our G4s, mine is currently on repair due to this problem... LG admitted that the bootloop problem is due to a hardware issue and it will be fixed under full warranty.
I recommand you contact a local carrier from which you bought the G4 or local LG service and tell them about your problem.
They have to repair it for you since they officially admitted the hardware problem.

It's a manufacturing issue. The problem was made while they were producing the LG, so whether you unlock the bootloader or not, the bootloop would still appear.
They basically sold you a device with defect and they are literally BOUND to repair it. When I first spoke to LG here they were also rejecting me but then when I spoke to the main director of something here in my country, a representative here IDK, whatever... and he said you know what, you're right, send your phone here we will repair it.
The unlocked bootloader DOES NOT affect hardware, they can't deny that statement!

Thanks for your help
I am curious to see how this plays out. I'm in the same situation and my warranty is almost expired.

I was worried too, but i didn't want to admit it is my fault, because it's not! It's their fault and they must repair it.

LG UK denied Guarantee because of Unlocked Bootloader

I had my G4 repaired last year when it suffered the Bootloop issue, It had a custom rom and unlocked bootloader back then but they still fixed it (assuming they couldn't even get it to boot fully)
Long story short, My G4's charging port began to be very temperamental, and I was getting rare bootloops so I sent it back again seeing as it was under Guarantee. After my phone sitting at the center for 2+ weeks without any updates I emailed LG to be told that because of the unlocked bootloader it was out of guarantee.
Has anyone tried to push on with LG and get it fixed after they deny the repair?
If they received your phone and IMEI was confirmed to be unlocked, then you're either getting the spare parts yourself or looking for a new one.
They actually have to repair it.
Maybe it will help if you put preassure on them.
That's not cool, how the hell unlocking bootloader could damage USB port.
Don't know the laws in UK. But lg Sweden have always repared my devices always unlocked.
One time thay couldn't repair it and sent me a store credit for a brand new device 480 usd even more then I payed for it?
Unless they can prove that unlocking bootloader caused the faulty USB (which they obviously can't) then you are entitled to it. Pressure them.
If not, get it back, relock bootloader and send back again.
