Rooting phone clarification - Verizon LG G4

I just want to make sure I am rooting my phone correctly because the last time I tried I hard bricked my phone. My phone is on android 6.0 and Security Software version is MDF v2.
So I would have to first use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g4/general/downgrade-mm-to-ll-lgup-t3322616 to downgrade to LL and then use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g4/general/vs986-rooteddebloated-t3256814 to root my phone? Can I just use the second one to downgrade and root my phone at the same time with LGUP?

before you go on, make sure that you are on VS98624C, if you are on 25A or any other version then there is no hope.
if you are on 24C here is my video i make to downgrade. you are on the right post for downgrade
https://youtu.be/Z0_8bYJqjrc
once on 13B here is my root video to help
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDnfyWhSEEo
on my video if you are on 13B you dont need to worry about the KDZ method so got to 9:50
hope this helps and good luck on the root

Thanks for the help! Successfully got root!

[Q] V10j, Any hope?

So my dad just got an LG Nitro HD for work, and I'm not totally sure, but I'm suspecting he updated it to V10j without knowing it would keep us from rooting it. I've tried every root method under the sun for this phone, and yet no root. So do you guys know if there is any hope to root this phone after being updated?
Build: GRJ90
Software Version: LG-P930-V10j-FEB-26-2012
I have V11a...is this rootable also?
edit: Yes, it is...superoneclick
Can't you follow the unbricking guide and flash the phone to an older firmware? That way you can root, get CWM, and flash whatever version of android you want to try out!

I've heard of that, but I was must wondering if there was an easier way, like a oneclick. I could even settle for a manual root method. It's just that downgrading seems to be my worst enemy.
i am running V11a, using my maths skill i think it's a newer version, try to update...V11a is rootable by superoneclick
You could try to get V11a that dillonr suggested and try to root that. You would have nothing to lose really, since you cant root V10j. If it doesnt work then you're stuck on having to use the unbrick method, its a bit of a pain and time consumer, but its what i had to do. If you are thinking about going to CM9, the unbrick method is totally worth it.

I've tried updating the phone, and it says there's no update. Should I wait for an update or just go for the unbrick?
I would unbrick..would be quicker

Do you know if the next version up is rootable with one click? And if so, how would I force the update?
i have V11a, it IS rootable (my phone as proof)
i am not sure how to force the updates, but if you can wait until tomorrow i will have the .img files uploaded for V11a...
i have no idea how to get them running on your device though, i'm just learning, myself
How do I go about updating my lg nitro? I downloaded the v11a files
you can follow the unbricking method, that should work...
Unbrick the phone

I would go through the unbricking process if you plan to flash any custom ROMs. The unbricking method seems to do something to the phone that's require to flash HO!NO!'s CWM ROM for the LG ICS leak.
It would make the phone a little more future proof for any ROMs released that may have the same requirement

i called bell canada today, and they said they will be releasing ICS for our phones June 16
you have to wait a few more days, but you should be able to update then

[Q] Towellroot safe?

Greetings,
Is this a safe method to root my G3 international version (32Gb)? Is it temporarly or permantly?
Also, will I still be able to receive OTA updates with this root?
Thanks!

You will most likely need to unroot to take an OTA. I updated with root on my F460S (it shouldn't have let me do it) but that was a fluke. If you need to take an OTA then you will have to use SU to unroot and then update-> root again. Just make sure the new OTA is still rootable. Rooting it's safe if you know what you are doing. I have used IORoot, and StumpRoot without issues.
hmm
Ok and won't my root dissapear if I reboot the device? (with the towellroot method?)
Because, I heard an youtube video, that said you don't need to reboot ur device once you run the apk to root...
It means you dont have to reboot after installing towel root.
It does mean you cant OTA after root generally any method period.
It doesnt mean you cant reboot after towelroot. Root will be there after reboot.
Confusing? Your post too.
please hit thanks if i helped in any way. send from my g3 d852 beast

Lg G4 VS986 (Verizon) Marshmallow Root (running 24C)

Is there any possible root method yet for the verizon LG G4 VS986, running the newest update of 24C?
Its the most current update.
Or is there a way to downgrade and THEN root it?
You can't root 6.0 without unlocking the bootloader since it requires a modified boot img. You can modify it on this phone but at best of won't boot, or worst you brick it.
If also appears the upgrade to 6.0 with a locked bootloader is a one way transaction. It won't allow a downgrade back to Lollipop.

There is a way to downgrade to 13B and then root the system. But there is no way to unlock the bootloader.
Please search the XDA for the same. I just successfully downgraded and have rooted 5.1 on G4.
If you downgrade to 13b and root, can you use Flashify to keep root and OTA to 29A (or latest MM)?

no
Downgrade from MM has been possible for some time. Every question you asked has been asked and answered several times.
You should do a little searching before posting redundant questions.
Here's the link for downgrading.

I went back to Lollipop after being on 28A. It's easy. Download 13B from Codefire. Use LGUP to go back to Lollipop.

Rooting MM?

Sooo, I want to root my LG G4 (H815). It's on 6.0 V20d-EUR-XX. My SN starts with 505 and I read that it will probably have a boot loop problem. Thats why I don't want to unlock the bootloader(avoid voiding warranty). Is there a method without unlocking it?

am the same as you but mine its 601.. i just updated it to MM.. seems like its impossible without twrp and mod kernel..
ive seen a page that says its possible i just dont get it
i feel mortal without root :crying::crying:
http://www.androidinfotech.com/2016/04/root-lg-g4-60-marshmallow.html
My device: LG G4(H815) on V20d-EUR-XX Android 6.0, SN starts with 505, antirollback: 0, bootloader locked, not rooted, no recovery installed.
I did some research and this is my plan.
Can some tell me if the following steps will successfully root my device without any problems?
Or did I get something wrong somewhere?
1. Backup data
2. Downgrade to "Europe General H81510B_00.kdz" (or should I use Europe OPEN H81510D.kdz? Whats the difference?) with help of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60718499&postcount=2
3. Inject root with this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/lg-g4-100-root-success-directives-root-t3180586
(4. Install SuperSU, Flashify and then TWRP)
After that can I upgrade to 6.0 while keeping root?
Will I void the warranty by doing this? I mean the bootloader would still be locked, right? Or did I get something wrong?
If it will void the warranty, can I get it back by unrooting my phone? If so, how can I unroot it?
I just want to be extremly careful, because if I get the bootloop (or some other **** happens), I want to send my phone in for repair.
Thanks in advance.

can you inject on MM?? it will void warranty if they found out root... to unroot it i think you must flash KDZ stock firmware while in bootloop it will flash it and root will be gone.... i think thats how it works not so sure.. i know that rooted system then flashing stock will remove root if refurbished is selected... also if you have bootloop people downgrade to lollipop and then flash modded TOT that disables big cores. so even with bootloop flashing stock will reset everything when refurbished its used... i think thats how it works.... i want to root MM to..
not so sure you can keep root .. you mean to go to lollipop use rooted system and update to 6.0? and keep root.. i beleive youll loose root.. but not 100% sure i might be wrong..

Thanks for the info about unrooting. That made me a little bit more secure about rooting my device
And by the way I don't want to inject on MM. I will downgrade to Android 5.1 and then I will inject root.
That way I will have root access, but I guess I will have to stay on 5.1 until there is a better way to root 6.0.

i like MM seems smoother. but battery sucks. and so doze.. what ere they thinking not activating doze while phone in movement..
U should nt root or unlock bootloader just make sure ur phone bootloops within ur warranty timeperiod...cuz im 100% sure it will mine did also after 1 year n one month usage...taiwan h815

V30e firmware: Any way to root without downgrade?

Just got a new D851 with v30e firmware. Am I correct that the only way to do this is to downgrade the firmware? And is the only way to do this using LGUP or LG Flash tool with a windows computer? I was able to root my last d851 on my linux box, but the method I used last time isn't working this time around...

I think you can't root MM or its complicated. I was in the same situation few weeks back I end up downgrade it to LP/KK root and install TWRP and flash custom rom. I post it here the guide how to do it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73314882&postcount=7
Pretty simple to do it but need a computer.

Well, simple to do if you have a windows computer. I was able to use a similar method using a windows box, but I don't think that it's possible with linux anymore (would love to hearif someone had some success though).
