This is killing me.
I have the LG D852 v20j from Koodo/Telus in Canada stock 5.0.1
I bumped and rooted and installed TWRP 3.0.1 (unofficial)
I then backed up everything via TWRP (including EFS)
I also followed the manual method here to generate two .img files for EFS backup:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/efs-lg-g3-efs-backup-restore-t2907329
I upgraded to a stock based MM ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/canadian-d852-stock-bumped-rooted-rom-t3056843
IMEI was still there
I flashed the MM Videotron Modem he provided and I lost my IMEI number
Flashing the TELUS MM Modem doesn't work either
To restore it I have tried:
1- Restoring from TWRP the EFS alone
2- Reflashing the Dene ROM
3- Restoring EFS via manual method (works sucessfully but still "Unknown" IMEI)
4- Completely restoring via TWRP and even then trying the manual method
So, I have two backups (manual method and TWRP) and I still cannot restore my IMEI and get on any network.
I thought backups were foolproof.
What do I do?
I just had to flash an old LP BELL modem on the MM ROM and it worked. No need to restore efs partition.
see here for solution:

try flashing the MM stock rom you flashed and check if the IMEI is there. if it is, your best bet is to - from within that rom - go back to stock kdz/tot method and hopefully you get it back, you can then restore your backup with IMEI intact. this is what fixed my "unknown" IMEI from this exact situation except different model. another thing you can try before the kdz/tot method is to flash the MM rom and then restore your backup but do not reboot your device, after you restore your backup, flash the appropriate bootstack then you can reboot.
Ok, so the issue is resolved.
I just had to flash a working LP (BELL in this case worked) modem
Solution thanks to Dene here:

Some questions here...
I have just rooted my stock DMF2 rom and got efs backup. Then i flashed the latest perseus kernel.
I wanna flash the latest omega rom but i read somewhere that if i flash a non DMF2/ME6 based rom, i will get a imei error.
Is there anyway i can flash omega rom without getting an imei error?
Thanks for helping and sorry for my english.

well try it yourself since you have a backup.
Make sure that also have a backup of your Modem and Build, (found in settings under Baseband (modem) and Build Number).
because your EFS backup would work 100% if both of these were the same when you're restoring.
If things didn't go on well, then you can reflash the ROM.
in case the backup wouldn't work (works once then no signal on next restart), then what you have to do is as follows:
1-Flash the ROM that has the same build number as the one you had when you backed up your EFS
2-Restore your EFS and restart
3-Restart again, if there's no signal, then restore your EFS again and restart once.
4-Downgrade your Baseband to any version (I prefer DME4).
5-Perform an OTA update (OTA works if you had status normal and an IMEI and phone signal, so you need your EFS to be restored and the signal working, for the status normal you need 0 flash counts and Full Wipe of data through VolUp+Home+Power).
6-If you have ROOT, then don't touch Install or Install all! click on later.
7-Get Odin Mobile Pro (you need the Pro Version). and run it.
8-Click on "OTA/ update.zip". point it to "/Cache/Fota(might find random numbers here)/update.zip". In case you can't find the file, just use Root Explorer, and copy the update.zip to anywhere on the SdCard0 or extSdCard, and Point Odin to it.
9-Check the EveRoot Option and Odin Pro.
10-Flash the ROM.
now you'll have the same build number, but your baseband is now updated correctly. Just restore the EFS one more time and restart and it should work.
Note: If you may tell me your current baseband and buildnumber, I could save you time by giving you my files if I have the same as you.

Bump, I'd like to know this also.
Hi guys!
A few days ago I bought the notes 2. He installed the rom DME6 with the modem DMF1.
I would like to know how to install a custom ROM safely without corrupting the IMEI!
Thanks!
You can safely use this tool to backup/restore your EFS (which contains your IMEI) before flashing anything. You should have a rooted phone if doing so.
You can also use this APK form the Play Store to backup your EFS partition.
After backing up your EFS, you can proceed with the custom ROM installation as usual. If you get your EFS corrupted, you can easily restore it now.
To find out more about rooting, EFS and flashing, read this.
I hope this helps!
Hi.
I have flashed my ROM to Ml4 4.3 and flashed Phliz recovery and after my ROM did not work with some apps I decided to flash to custom ROM though recovery. Unfortunately after installing ROM my Imei and my baseband turned to unknown. I don't have any backup of efs folder too. I flashed all the ROMs and modems but no use. What should I do?
custom rom 4.1.2
I had the same issue when I first got my Note 2, and resolved it using EFS Professional:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1308546
i have not backup efs folder
Any help or guidance will be appreciated.
I just got a replacement phone from Verizon with 46A and these are the steps i followed to try and restore a stock rooted lollipop rom from my old phone.
-flashed to 10B by TOT method
-rooted with Stump
-downloaded TWRP from play store
-flashed and got to TWRP recovery successfully
-created a new backup with just the boot.img
-placed the old nandroid backup in that folder
-wiped cache and dalvik/art
-flashed XDABBEB's VS985 24B bootstack
-restored my nandroid backup
...and then i kept getting a "secure boot error" at startup. Boot verification error. I could only get onto TWRP and download mode. I don't know what i did wrong. I looked through this forum for solutions but couldn't find any. So long story short, i ended up flashing back to 10B via TOT method. Any solutions to restore my old backup?
also another strange thing was when i moved my old backup to the new folder, it wouldn't show the checkboxes for boot, data, system etc to restore. i had to place the old backup in the same folder with the boot.img and i had to copy and replace it with the old backup for it to show when trying to restore it.
That used to happen to me when the boot image wasn't bumped. Can you try flashing the sharpening mod so boot can be bumped, and see if it solves your problem?

Thanks for your help. Where can i locate the sharpening mod? Also before i do this again, should i backup my 10b rom i'm on now?
Hi guys!
I'm sorry if it's been asked before.
I did clean install from CB 3.5.3 to 3.2.7 and flashed official twrp everything works except LTE which is not turning on.
I flashed 3.2.6 but same problem.
I did LTE only by using USSD code but it doesn't work also, now I'm stuck to 3g only can anyone help me in this regard?
Which TWRP are you using? There's a modified version to deal with this problem-not completely flashing ROMs. My suggestion is to dirty flash just the modem and firmware for 3.2.7 separately. If that doesn't work, you will have to clean install (wipe dalvik/art/system/cache) then flash the 3.2.7 firmware/modem, re-wipe, then re-flash 3.2.7.
Flash modified twrp 3.0.2-19 and then flash 3.2.7 Firmware + Modem. Wipe. Then flash the ROM.
VoLTE work around on stock / CB
Clean Flash Stock / CB rom using twrp .
You first have to extract 4 files contained in the zip file attached .
Now make a efs backup from twrp
Now go in twrp>backups>device serial number folder>the most recent backup you made folder
And paste the 4 files and replace them with your efs files Then restore EFS back up only using twrp.
That worked for my friend on 3.2.6 stock who completely lost VoLTE , tried every thing found this solution by hit and trail hope it works for you as well.

Anyone tried this method?
Make sure you have chosen "Preferred SIM for data" as your LTE SIM and not your other sim. Otherwise LTE won't come on.
