Let's jot down in points everything I'm faced:
So I received two PMs yesterday. I viewed them, gave them appropriate response and done. I believe the Notification Count at the XDA main menu bar should now go from 2 to 0. It didn't. It was still registering I had 2 unread private messages. I went to Private Messages and the same messages which I had already read were being shown as unread. I read them again and again but they still remained unread. Due to this, I get an annoying pop-up (which isn't really annoying but now at the moment) saying "You have received a PM ....." and I have to close it every time to continue browsing on every link hit.
Well, I then decided to delete those messages. That should certainly solve the problem. Unfortunately, those messages won't delete. I have tried several times but to no success. A weird thing happened after deleting those messages. The pop up message (which tells you about a new incoming message") now mentioned a new incoming PM which was older than those two PM (i.e. the third PM in my PM list). I came to conclusion that I can't delete PM and if I delete one, it won't get deleted but the new PM notification would now show me a PM older than the deleted one.
Once and for all, I decided to delete all PM. As usual, the PM didn't got deleted. They are still there and I wasn't able to get to get rid of the PM pop up also. The pop us now more weird. It mentions about a new PM but the sender and the title is completely empty.

NEW BUG!!!: Now I can't even accept or reject friend requests....
What I did in an attempt to get rid of it?
Obviously, I deleted my browser's cache, cookies, saved data and everything - FAILURE
Used another browser (Microsoft Edge) - same issue as described above
Tried to log out and then log in again - same issue as described above
Used Chrome Browser in my Android Device - same issue as described above
Used XDA Labs - same issue as described above

I have already posted about this in my Google+ profile, but Twitter notifications have not been working for quite a long time on my Galaxy Nexus, across a wide variety of AOSP based ROMs. Whenever I try to change my notification settings, I get the message "there was a problem updating notification settings".
Anyone else experience this or know how to fix it? I've already tried clearing out all my partitions and stuff, and as an FYI, I always do a full wipe before installing any ROM.

Notifications have been broke for me also mate. Frustrating as hell, in addition when I tweet and go @ it does not load my full list of contacts.
Edit: btw when this became an issue someone suggested removing and adding my acct again and this did work temporarily. Maybe you can give it a try, might help you.
FYI, the solution was given to me. Turns out you have to sign out of the account, revoke access to the app through Twitter.com and sign back in.

OMG it works. Thank you for this. I can't believe I failed to come across. As I said earlier wiping acct and signing in did work.
I know its capable since the update before last but getting it to actually work is a pain.
It will set a calendar event but it doesnt seem to get any of my date and time information. What it will do is set a calendar even for the next half hour block and then put the time/date and subject in the description.
So "Create an event for Thursday at 6 PM for a Haircut" I will end up with an event in fifteen minutes titled "thursday at 6pm for a haircut."
This seems to be the only feature in Voice Actions/Google Now that I cant seem to get to work. Everything else understands what I want wonderfully.
I did some searches but all I get back are old threads about how it wasnt supported prior to the update and/or doing it through the text trick.
First say set event for Thursday, wait for day to open and
Then say the event or type it out.
This should come up

This works for me ->
"schedule a haircut for Thursday at 6pm"
Thank you! That actually worked.
Edit: Tried it a few times, works reliably.
No problem! Would appreciate it if you can press the "thanks" button for me.
Ah, was on "XDA Classic" theme and it doesn't show the thanks button. Updated and thanked.
Occasionally when I receive texts I'll get multiple quick reply popups for the same text. Usually anywhere from 2-5 duplicates.
Sometimes I can see these duplicates in the stock messaging app and sometimes they aren't there and there is only 1 text.
Is this happening to anyone else? Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks.
I guess this isn't happening to anyone else?
I'm not experiencing this. Only I've seen is old popups of unread SMS messages when a new one arrives.
Maybe you should post it in the cm thread?

I had this problem since "always". It happens randomly and for no particular reason.
Anyone has a fix for this?
I've had this happen on several occasions, and it happens when the text count hits the max allowed (CM default is 500)... for me anyway. I try to delete my threads when they get too big, and it seems to help prevent it from happening.
To resolve it (again, for me anyway), I delete all threads and clear the cache in the Messaging app. That seems to usually work for me.

In the messaging app under settings > text messaging limit.

Hey I'm having an issue with Handcent that I hope someone can help me with. This issue doesn't seem to be ROM specific, I've had it with every TW JB ROM and kernel I've tried.
At some point after booting, usually after exchanging ~30 or 40 texts, when I try to send a text it doesn't go through and my screen shows a blank conversation screen, with only the contact's name and number at the top (see first attached image). Then when I hit back, the thread list is also completely blank (see second attached image). In order to make the threads and conversations reappear I have to kill the app and go back in, but after sending another 2 or 3 texts the problem happens again. Only way to solve it for good (until sending another 30 texts) is to reboot the phone.
Has anyone else experienced this? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Handcent but that hasn't helped.

If its happening on multiple roms, it may just be a bug with the app
Have you checked the Play Store reviews to see if anyone else is having issues? Try rolling back a version as well, you can probably find an older version online
Also, clearing cache / data doesnt help? Did you restore any data between flashes, by chance?
I haven't seen anyone else mention the issue on Google Play. Haven't tried an older version of the app yet but I may have to give that a shot. Clearing data on the app didn't help, and I've wiped caches many times. I did restore some user apps with TB between flashes, but they're all games that I don't think would affect an SMS app.

I've had this problem (messaging specific, not handcent) where that eventually happens... And it's not rom or even phone specific... Its happened on my note 2 and my wife's gs3.only way to fix is to reboot the phone.

Hey everyone. Only complaint I have regarding the G4 is the fact that sometimes I don't receive messages. Could it be the fact that I have an existing MMS between these 2 people, so it causes issues when texting them directly? No idea how to solve this... I'm on TMobile

I have the same problem all the time. I'll get some of the group texts (mms) and then sporadically I'll get a separate one from a member of the group chat with that download button you pictured but I can never download it. I don't know what to do.
Adblock effs up my receiving and sending of MMS messages. If you have it, try to disable.

Are you using the stock messaging app? I just downloaded hangouts and the separate message (which didn't go through) doesn't even show up on hangouts. Wondering if there isn't even a message in the first place, but it's for some reason displaying that separate text notification when they send you an actual mms?

Adaway works fine for me. It's Adblock that gives trouble. They are two different apps.
