Hi all, i have tried to find similar thread with "search" before opening this one, but this function is not working right now to me.
The problem: usually my Artemis integrated GPS works very very well, for weeks (cold fix in not more than 2', also without downlaod of efemeridi, and hot fix very very fast, with 7-10 satellites hooked). But in some days/weeks/periods the gps doesn't work well. In particular the cold fix (first fix) needs some minutes (5'-10'), and once the fix happened, the signal of each satellite hooked is really poor, or the number of satellites hooked is low and instable; for eg the gps hook not more than 3-4 satellites, and loose and find the signal continuously. And also other fixes during the day ar slow if made just after few hours from first one.
The strange thing, as said before, is that usually the gps works very very well, for weeks. But expecially during the winter it happens that it works bad for days/weeks. And without any operation after some days/weeks it turn working very well again.
The issue don't seems to be linked with bad weather days. Can it be related with seasons and relative different position of satellites in the sky?
Untill now i never found other guys with a similar problem on their Artemis device. So now i ask here for support.
Which could be the problem? And which is the solution?

PS i use WM5 original. The issue happened since first year of life untill now (i just did an hard reset). And the issue happened both with TT6 and TT7 (just installed).

I have the Desire HD for 2 weeks now but I've only yesterday noted the gps doesn't seem to work... It's a complete stock model, no custom roms or radio's. I'ts just never able to get a fix! Are there other people with problems like this? Could my device be broken?
I have installed a app from the market that tests the gps and it finds no satelites most of the time except one time I checked it found 4 with a very bad signal... Even then in Google Maps or the HTC Locations it didn't get a fix.
Any ideas?

i HAD this problem, but then i left the GPS on for an entire journey. 45 minutes later it had a fix and ive never had any problems getting a fix within a minute since.
i dont think the phone knows what side of the globe its on the first time, so maybe it just needs a loooong time the first time.
Most GPS devices need to download a file known as an almanac. This determines where satellites will be at specified times.
This file can take a while to download as GPS is purely passive. I'm not sure if the DHD is A-GPS (Assisted). This will download the almanac via mobile or wifi data.
This is why sometimes the first GPS lock can take a while.
Try these two programs:

First one is great for diagnostic so it should tell you what is wrong.

1st gps-fix is a pain, after it will all get better....search for my posts, you'll see that this has been asked several times (don't want to be a b**ch but, please use the search button as well) and in general, 1st fix takes some time, 2nd is fast (like <2 min).
At this moment, while I thought my gps fix was very bad (and as I own one, if not the, of the 1st DHD batches, it was not abnormal to think that it also had gps probs) it now fixes within 1 minute....
Problematic piece of device for me for GPS.
Got mine a cpl of days ago , downloaded the apps above but still nothing i will give it one more try.

I tried both GPS apps. And immediately after that, I was able to get GPS satellite lock on within 20s.
Guys regarding the GPS, all of us we face an issue. It can not lock the satellites quickly. Especially for the people like me who are HTC HD2 owners as well. I was waiting only few seconds. (cooked rom). We MUST forget that now. It's an issue for all of the android devices. Even with the device of the Nexus. So we must live with that. Sometimes it will lock the satellites in 1 min or 30 secs, some other time in 2-3 mins. I searched also in the internet and i found so many complains regarding the GPS and hopefully not only from DHD users

Yep, I had also that problem but then red at forums that only way to lock as fast as you can satellite is to use first one for locking over internet and after that it's much easier to find satellite. Whenever you have problem with locking or need gps asap first program should provide you with fast satellite find.
Btw gps on dhd is so good that I have sold my old garmin - simply it's obsolete and now I have only to purchase official car holder.
Most of the times is more difficult to get a fix in a speeding car.
In the opposite case is generally faster to get a sat fix.
So I've been using my DHD for 3 weeks now (stock model as well, no root) and here are two issues with GPS that I noticed and have no idea what to do with it.
1. The same problem as described in first post. Every once in a while my GPS just cannot get a fix. I installed GPS Test app. Normally it finds around 6-7 satellites, they are all in use, the yellow indicator in GPS status bar goes green and my location appears on mini-map.
However there are situations when GPS Test says that there is 1 to 5 satelites in view, later on they also apper to be in use, but GPS status doesn't change to green and my actual location doesn't show. It's not a problem of visibility or my location - the GPS can get a fix today and not work tomorrow at the very same place.
I have no idea if this can be fixed, so any help appreciated.
2. This is not really an issue, just something that I find quite disturbing. I'm using this traffic app (Yandex Maps for those of you in Russia). It shows current traffic condition on the map + your current location if you have GPS. So each time I lock my DHD (press the button on the top) the GPS is immedietly switched off. So when I unlock the screen to see the map again it takes from few seconds to a minute or even more to update my current position. Sometimes it doesn't happen at all (see problem #1). I understand it's probably done to save battery but I would prefer continuously working GPS than saving battery. Is there any way to set GPS to always working mode?

I read all you guys said and after trying both the apps and refreshing my agps data manually I now get 6-7 satellites which is good I think?
So for all of you with the same problem, just stay outside for a moment and make sure you have a data-connection. Then use the GPS Status app and refresh your agps data manually. It should work... It did for me!
Ps. I think my Desire, not the HD, used to see 11 satellites? Is that possible? Does this mean 6-7 is kind of weak?

Just to make it clear - to manually refresh AGPS using GPS Status - you need to go to Menu->Tools->Manage A-GPS state->Download?
I'm not outside now, but will try it once I have problems getting a fix.
And yes, 11 sats is possible. 6-7 is more than enough though.
Stand still to get a fix? Harder when you are speedy, I think.

Your movement speed has no impact on how quickly you get a lock. Remember, these satellites are in orbit traveling alot faster than your 30 - 70mph.
I've tried everything, but nothing seems to make Waze and Google Maps works. I've always used Waze in my car, but since the KK update I can't manage to make it work. When I use GPS Test I can find many satellites and even get a lock. The only thing I find odd is the accuracy of 200ft, witch I think is too big. Now comes the curious part: When I open the GPS Test app, keeping Waze in background, Waze gets a lock and I get all the voice directions. When I bring Waze back on screen, it looses the GPS signal again. I’ve tried everything from Stock Rom, Bobcat Rom, Hyperdrive Rom, X-Note Rom, and nothing. Always wiping cache, Dalvik, etc. I’ve tried many apps like GPS Status, TopTnp, GPS Test, Faster GPS, etc. Nothing changes. The last thing I did is a procedure on the system (*#0011#, reseting the NV), but again nothing. I live in São Paulo, Brazil, and God knows the caos of traffic here, so I really need Waze. It’s been a month now, and I don’t know what to do. You guys are my last hope. :fingers-crossed:

Man I'm pretty much getting the same issue.. I'm on the Heisenberg rom.. And never had any issues with Google Maps and I use it almost everyday.. But every since the update that put the voice control mic on the screen... Google maps been sending me all over the place..
I've tried the "solution 1" in this link, and this time it worked. The only thing I did different is enter MENU>END before rebooting. Now Waze is OK!

I tried all the codes and apps and even tightening the screws, but nothing was working. It was when I took the phones back off and looked inside that I found the answer.
Now that my Waze GPS is working again after being out of action for over 3 months, I thought I would share my Waze GPS fix with everyone by making a quick youtube video,

My GPS lock failed all the time
I fixed my note 3 failure to lock at all (No Fix) by removing the back cover, battery, sim, and sd cards, I checked and found several of the screws loose,tightenied them snug, reassembled, booted, and got a fix within 3 seconds. I got the idea from your video... Thanks very much!

Since upgrading to OOS 4.5.0, my GPS has been having issues locking in. When I start navigation, the GPS does not seem to lock a location and it navigates as if the GPS is turned off (every few minutes it moves my location but not to my exact location). If I reboot and start navigation again, it starts working sometimes. Lots of GPS threads but none that I saw depicting an issue similar to mine. Anyone else have this issue?

I have the same issue on latest beta, and I think it already started some beta versions ago. Sometimes going into airplane mode, waiting a minute, and switching all back on helps, sometimes a reboot is needed. If I'm stuck in "GPS not working"-state, I can see with GPS helper apps that satellites are detected, just never locked onto, regardless of signal strength. I just started rebooting my mobile each morning, this has at least mitigated the problem a bit. Nevertheless, I had situations where I was in a hurry and just needed navigation or my present position, and it was very annoying that Google Maps thought I was 250m away (positioning me without GPS) and never locked onto my position.

I forgot to mention that rebooting resolves the issue. That said, if I reboot and get the GPS to work and navigate somewhere, when I use the GPS again, say 20 minutes later, it has the same issue and has to be rebooted again. So for me, a single reboot per day does not seem to work.
this issue has been present for months, on both stable and beta builds, on OOS and custom ROMs
used to think OP3/T was a great phone, but now it's not even great for what you pay given GPS navigation is nonfunctional

One of my friend had this GPS issue but now it is fixed.I guess the OTA update fixed that

This is not a fix, this is a workaround and it requires an unlocked bootloader

Hi all.
I got my hands on a i9195 and had an idea to run it as a cheapo satnav. Problem is it won't get a proper GPS Fix. Get's 15-20 satellites in view but rarely get's Fix. I have already tried 3 different Stock Rom's, LOS14.1 and LOS 15. Same on all of them. I habe already checked connectors inside the phone and they all look OK. At the moment I can't even use it to navigate in Google Maps. I also tried AGPS Fixes but this is not helping. It will loose signal even when in the car.

It seems I have a similar problem right now. I'm using the lineage-14.1-20180624-nightly-serranoltexx-signed image for a long time. But last summer I noticed that GPS fix takes longer time to obtain and it's instable. Now I can't use navigation due to this problem. Have you found a way to fix it or just replaced the phone?
