I have the same question/problem... hoping someone has an answer. It appears that it has been disabled by sammy.

Use the double drop down to show the gear icon. Then long press the gear icon. Once it converts to a gear icon with a wrench on it, SystemUI shows up on settings.

Having trouble with this. If by "double drop-down" you mean two-finger swipe down, that brings down the full notification panel (toggle switches) panel... there is no gear icon on it.
If I swipe down with a single finger, there is a gear icon above the list of notifications, but it does not change to a wrench no matter how long I hold it.
help?

That is how I did it originally on Marshmallow. I am on N Preview now, and it is still the double swipe drop-down.
Let me get the link I used on matchmaker and post here.

I think you are trying to use the brightness icon, not the gear box.
Link coming in a second.

I am sure I am not using the brightness icon. I am pressing the gear icon at the upper right of the screen (next to the one that looks like a grid).
Actually, I read the article you referenced before you posted it -- and several others. This is why I posted this here... that gear icon just doesn't do anything for me. I have read that some vendors have chosen not to use the System Tuner UI... and came to think that maybe Sprint or Samsung ditched it.
I see you are posting from a Nexus 6. Have you gotten it on a Samsung TouchWiz device?

Let me try really quickly.

Just tried it on a VZW S6. That device is on 5.1.1, and no updates are available. Sorry.

okay... thanks for the try.

I asked about the System UI Tuner in another thread and have not found a way to access it. Given that some of the things System UI Tuner offers were already in TouchWiz, I wonder if Samsung just left it out. If true, this would be unfortunate because I don't know of any other way to control which icons appear in the Notification bar.

why are you posting in a note 4 section about your nexus?
can we ban members from showing up on our accounts when we come to the forum so we have less clutter like this?

App to disable mobile data when screen off?

Is there any app that disable mobile data when screen is off that work witn android 5.1?
Thanks

I only know of an ancient app which will work once its setup correctly... TASKER
---------- Post added at 05:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:23 PM ----------
There may also be a xposssed module to get this job done but TASKER will certainly get get the job done.
The extreme power saver option on stock ROMs will do this too. Though it is a small hassle to get in & out of this mode it is good for battery and data saving.
Automateit works great and is easy to set up
Automateit doesn't seem to be able to do this. Might be because it's not rooted. Might be user error. :')

Dark mode on stock for all apps?

Since the Op 3 has an amoled screen i would like to have as much black on the screen as possible at all time. I have enabled the dark mode already, but am kinda disappointed that it doesnt affect any 3rd Party apps like the google apps.
Does anyone know a way to get all apps black on stock os?
Preferably without root.
I found a lot about layer apps, how exactly do they work?
The word layer makes me think that they just make an overlay. Wouldnt it be easier to search the code in the app that defines the color of elements and change the values there?
Or just intercept the commands for the display an switch any white and black?
So what do you think is the best way to get as much black on the screen as possible?
Thanks for any input
Use cyanogen mod and install deep darkness its all black on most apps using cm theme engine

Would this enabled me to use the deep darkness theme(which looks great btw)? As far as I understood from a quick google search it is like a hub for themes. Is that right?

Looking for AMOLED friendly ROM .

Hello.
I'm trying to find a rom which have full black theme system wide since i'm sensitive to white.
If possible, substratum-less.
Thank you.
Any AOSP oreo rom should do the work fine, just install substratum either with root or andromeda app then install swift black theme which costs around dollar or two.
---------- Post added at 09:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:16 PM ----------
Maybe off topic, but if you use desktop chrome browser, try "dark reader" extension. It is great

yeah it should work as omnirom supports OMS theme. just make sure to update your themed apps when swift black theme gets an update to avoid any issues.

Pixel XL (running Pie) dialer color changed to white

My Pixel XL (runnig Pie) dialer color use to be blue and now has changed to white by itself.
What changed it to white? How do I change back to blue?
Thanks

I'm still on Oreo and have noticed this on my XL. My girlfriend who has non XL has the old dialer in blue, she is also still on Oreo.
Mine too, ugly change, but seems Google is making this horrible design standard for all their apps. You'll notice contacts and messages also changed.
Hopefully they will allo dark mode in these apps eventually (they do in messages now or at least it's rolling out).

Mine too! Very annoying...
[/COLOR]I noticed mine change about 3 or 4 days ago. I didn't have time to look into it then, but I thought I just installed an app that changed settings or something. I'm glad to hear it wasn't just my phone, but I'm frustrated that this change was made. Now I don't recognize when a call is coming in as easily. We should definitely be able to customize this. (I'm on Android P)
Mine also changed to white. I blame Apple for starting this trend. I hate it. Cant be that hard to include a dark theme.
Good news... you'll no longer need the flashlight on your phone or an AMOLED screen.
So just go to phone app in google play and uninstall the latest update?
Worked for me, although the blue sucks too.
White is a lot better than the 90' dos or windows 95 blue screen....... however, we should be able to choose the color......
Arrogant bastards
You can't.
I just made a HUGE MISTAKE and upgraded my google pixel 2........now I have android v9 which SUCKS.
Only way is to make it dark is to click on the 3 buttons at top right in phone and pick dark theme
You can do the same on messages....pick dark mode top right
You can't save your stuff and reload it either......if you revert back to v8.......cause v8 can't read v9 backups.....
The ARROGANCE of these bastards!.........To just totally change the look/colors/theme of what you are used to and FORCE you to use their new s..t

That does NOT WORK.........cause phone is part of system of android

Speaking of which.......now we have CIRCLES instead of the Squares.......and the colors SUCK....what with that pastel CRAP.....
