How to replace back/rear glass of LG E975 - LG Optimus G (International)

I accidentally broke the back glass of my phone .. And ordered a new one thinking that it was the complete back cover.. But instead it was just a flat "thing" with a sticker (maybe adhesive) on it... I've no idea on how to replace it .. This is how it looks but white(pics attached)

you have to "peel" the old off and glue this one there!

Scratched my Desire

Actually it was my mom who dropped it and the Desire got it TO THE FACE!!!
I have now 3 pretty big scratches on the aluminium plate, near the power button...
Any idea how to fix that? This is the first time I dropped (actually it wasn't me) my Desire... right into concrete! Ooo how I hate my mom now...
Can't post pics, coz I don't have all my other phones with me... on holyday right now.
I've done the same thing, got a case that covers the scratch but I'm still gutted

The best way to remove sratches is with " Brasso " its for cleaning copper and metal but it is a light abrasive that buffs scratches out or plastic and metal really well.
Just be careful when using as it can get a bit messy, only us a tiny bit.
Good Luck
R
Thanks for the reply!
Will try Brasso when I get home... I hope it will fix it, but I doubt it will remove the scratches, coz they are pretty bad
I think it's plastic not aluminium
When I dropped mine the top corner of the faceplate dented inwards so I'm pretty sure it's metal... as for buffing out the scratched with Brasso, if they're on the faceplate by the buttons as you said I dont thing Brasso (or any other rubbing polish / compund) will help as all this will do is REMOVE the paint / covering. You need to be adding back not taking away - see if you can find a modeling shop they might have some similar coloured pain that you could cover the scratchs with...
Just a thought without seeing the marks...
I did the same as snear and got a plastic cover from Amazon - they were £4 for 3 (DEAL!) and will take most of the abuse in a drop situation - I hope!
If it is metal, try the wax compounds that car accessory shops sell to fill in scratches
Try some super resin polish sold by autoglym, this will fill in the scratch but it wont remove it.
Thanks for all the answers!
I will try some metal filling compound and report back as soon as I finish it
That sucks bigtime buddy... that's why i keep mine in a gel case with a screen protector applied. I would be so annoyed if my phone had marks/scratches on it, especially when the time comes to sell it

Any luck with the scratches?

oh CRAP. red tape on back = antenna?

i was pulling off the "red tape" thinking it was just tape because there was a gap on the back cover.
Well i think this is antenna... either wifi/gps/signals
Sorry...but I had to laugh, but yes...I think hat is the anntenna...though why did you oul on the RED tape?
cause there was a small gap around batter cover. I had a lg optimus and that had a bunch of bluish tape that I also pulled off, but that was just protective tape.
oh well! I can replace housing for about $12.
My first day of ownership.

5 ft away and no WIFI signal. 4G isn't looking good either.
you pulled it out so now it has only the internal connectors to barely catch signal,
take it back to the store and make sure it looks like the red tape xD is back in like normal. they should replace no prob

Does the xperia play front housing case has a glass? And how to glue it back?

Hi guys,
I just dropped my Xperia Play and the front glass cracked. I was going to buy a new housing case on ebay but now I'm confused about what I actually need and how to repair it.
This is the item I saw on ebay (Full housing case). Judging by the pics it seemed to me that the front cover comes with a glass already?, but then another search gave me the result for a touch screen digitizer (Touch Screen Digitizer).
Are there 2 different glasses on the Xperia Play? or what's the purpose of the glass appearing on the first link?
Then I found this manual (Installing-Sony-Xperia-Play-Digitizer/7593/4) where they say we need to use a heat gun to remove the glass from the frame. Is that heat gun really required and do we need to glue the glass back to the frame? Any idea which glue could I use for that?
Many thanks in advance. Looking forward to trying my 1st repair...
I think I'm right on this, the housing is just that, the housing. The "glass thats on there is only meant to protect the digitizer. which is the thing that reads where your fingers are.
I understand even less now. I've been scratching my broken glass to see if what I had broken was the glass that appears to be part of the housing in the 1st link or the digitizer, and I'd say that it's the digitizer and there's no any other kind of glass that belongs to the frame!
I'm starting to think that the 1st picture on ebay is kind of misleading and that glass that appears there doesn't really exist?
I'd like to know where I can get the glue also.

I sold a touch screen digitizer some time ago on eBay. I have seen them for around $30 and yes from what I have seen the housing is just the bordering around Tue touch screen digitizer. I would try searching eBay for that. The one I had I bought from hing Kong and it worked jsmust fine.

Ah ok, thank you. The picture of the housing is not very good then as it seems that it's got a glass that goes on top of the digitizer...
Did you replace the screen as well? Any suggestion about a good product I could use to glue it back to the frame?

Be advised the digitizer is glued to the screen bordering. I do not know what glue it is. Sorry.

HELP! Can't remove screen protector!

Hi folks!
I ran into a bit of trouble here trying to remove the screen protector that came with my Otterbox Commuter for the HTC One.
I just can't manage to get it off, tape doesn't stick to it ('cause of the coating maybe?), the edges of the screen are slightly higher level, so it's impossible to get to the edge of the screen protector.
I even tried to apply superglue with a piece of strong paper but it just won't stick Oo.
I'm really desperate right now, how the hell am I supposed to get that thing off?!
Please help me!:crying:
Try using a needle to lift the edge.

Maybe a store rep can help

Try heating up the screen protector with a hairdryer to soften the adhesive, then slowly peel it up.
I've had this happen a few times, sucks. Usually I end up heating it up with a hairdryer and putting a pin in the corner to get it to lift or something.
Yeah, heating it up with a blowdryer is def the way to go!
...needle? wtf, won't that just cause exactly what you tried to avoid when putting it on there
use your finger tail
ive had success using a razor blade

I do not recommend using a needle, because there may scratch the screen.
I get my wife to do it. Those nails help.

I just remove it by nail
I understand that this thread is old as balls but I just took off a glass screen protector that i was struggling to get off. I tried using my nails at first and I failed. I used a rigid piece of plastic and just pushed up against the corner of the screen protector really hard until it lifted and it worked.

HI,
I came across this post looking for a solution to the same problem... Finally I managed to pry it off by placing a pen knife at the camera/sensor cutoffs and gently pushing at the edge... It created a bubble and allowed me to slip a paper clip between the display and the screen-protector...

The other thing that may work is to get something else with adhesive like a bit of tape, and keep a firm grip on one end of it, and stick the other end on top of the screen protector and gently pull up. It does work in lifting the screen protector but then again I've never had anything stuck on to the point of having to seek help
Ever tried Rubbing Alcohol?

Im mad with Xiaomi ?

I didnt expext that from the premium series of Xiaomi. This happened without droping or hitting. It happens from my jeans pocket. The paint went off. Any tricks to permantly fix it-paint it?
Quite sad to see the paint chipped away. Hope the Aluminium frame is an anodised black coating on a 7000 series aluminium. Ideally it would not come off that easy . Do you have warranty? Check with Xiaomi first, if not, you need to do a delicate paint touch up.
Just use cover
You can always use cover to hide the dent..

I would suggest any good quality matt Black spray paint can, Try to cover all the phone and just let the scrapped area exposed, Try to spray it on any other metal surface before doing on the phone and check for its color match. I Can assume, how bad it could look with that patch of paint scrap, try this out, if you are not satisfied with the results, you can anytime undo it by removing the paint before it is fully dried.
