Hello
I stupidly bricked my kf2, I thought I could do it without a fastboot cable.
the guide I was following was https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_otter2
Got to step 6 no problems, kindle rebooted I missed what happened but it said something about having to wipe/format system then rebooted. now it just shows kindle logo for 5 seconds and then reboots and then again
I have ordered a cable after destroying 6 trying to make a fastboot one but going to be waiting weeks from china.
Anyways not the first device I have bricked and likely not the last, my question is what procedure should I follow when I do get it as I dont want to do more damage.
Thank you in advance
I posted in the Q&A thread but have not had any responses
Update-built a cable and tried restoring to stock but the files are scattered all over or on goo.im that has now closed. anyways I managed to install cm11 so im happy, but afterwards i found this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/kin...opment/kindle-fire-2-7-stock-restore-t2840987 that has all the files needed on dropbox and clear instructions (if only i had found it a few hours earlier)
Thanks Xda and remember search search search

Hi guys! I think I bricked my phone. I installed AuraxSenseHD and after a while I decided to revert back.Did a full wipe and everything but when I rebooted my phone I got stuck at Htc Logo so I decided to reflash.... after that I tried to get to recovery but windows is asking me for "Qualcomm CDMA Tehnologies MSM".And adb says device not found. The driver is nowhere to be found. The only thing that seems to see my phone is fastboot with S-ON.Is it possible to fix my phone with fastboot.I tried flashall but I get an no device specified error. And with update I get an signature error.. Any ideas?
P.S:If this does not work my only option is sending it to warranty(Hope they will not notice I have root) )

As for your problem, it sounds like you have the usb brick.

Thanks problem solved!
Excellent stuff. Glad you got it sorted.
Hi, let me explain my problem:
I have a desire with power button broken.
last 6 months i use it normally wiht a rooted room (but s-on). When i want to turn on the device I pull off and on the battery twice.
Recently i installed an application and after a reboot the device keeps stuck in the initial splash animation.
So, i ONLY can access to HBoot (0.93 S-on). But i can't enter to recovery to erase userdata and format all and reboot a new room (as usual) because Hboot enter key is the ****ing power button XD.
I tryed to S-OFF in linux with alpharev 1.8 or revolutinary when showing splash but they start and suddenly stop because smthg was wrong.
So the only thing i can do is send basic HBoot commands.
any idea?
You might get more response posting in the correct forum.

You can download Quick Boot (Reboot) from market. Use it to Reboot, Recovery, Bootloader or Power Off.
Anyway, you're posting this in wrong section, should be in Q&A.

Mate, his device is not even reaching the bootanimation, I wonder what kind of market you suppose him to have to use it in splashscreen or bootloader?

Haha.. I got confuse with his statement " When i want to turn on the device I pull off and on the battery twice." So I thought he can boot the phone Wrong section wrong answer
Thanks anyway
Code:
[strike]fastboot oem gencheckpt[/strike]
Good development you've got going here.
Mate flash an original wwe stock rom with its own flash utility (just run the executable) but you will loose root after that use the alpharev utility once your phone has started.

I had this same problem a while ago. Tried many apps to work around power button (mine was stuck "pressed"). Got to the point where I couldn't do anything without getting into recovery. Used a spare phone until I ordered the flex cable assembly from Ebay.. $40 or so..
Despite many years of working with electronics, it was still quite nerve racking to swap the part out... you have to re-use your camera module and a couple plastic parts stuck to the original (on back of volume buttons i think).
Read instructions and watched videos online several times before starting, and again as I did the work, and size/fit was ever so slightly off... but everything works now and I am a relieved and happy camper
I see the development is active for 4 days now.

This may sound stupid and it might have already been asked befor but idk what else to try. So I had my kindle rooted and had a coustom rom on it and I wanted to change roms. So I went to wipe the system and do factory reset/wipe data and the batery died and when I finally turned it back on I wasn't able to get into twrp at all so I tried doing fastboot and acouple other thing and now I don't know how but I'm not even able to turn it on and I've let it sit on the charger for almost a day. I'm fairly good with computers but I just can't figure out what to do.
Thank you for the help ahead of time and any reply at all would be great
Plz read this carefully: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1638452
so u need to use Kindle Fire Utilities to change to fastboot mode and use fastboot commands to copy bootloader & recovery into the device. good with computers is not enough if u dont read the manual thoroughly. I started only 4 weeks ago and faced many problems but searching & reading solved most cases.
gud luck with ur device.
I have already read through all of that so im going to try firekit in the morning

Er... if it's really a battery issue, you need to read this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1623244
Hopefully, you have FFF 1.4a installed and it can put you into the low battery charge mode. Use USB power from your computer to do this. Some members have also mentioned that plugging in a power source then forcing the device off (by pressing and holding the power button until it powers down) will charge it enough for it to boot completely. At that point, the system software should be able to charge it the rest of the way.
@dumber89 - Kudos to you for doing it right... it's good to see new blood helping themselves to the material out there. :good:
My case is that I hv to replace the bootloader and recovery with latest ones. it was bricked once or twice but I had similar experiences with Symbian so I didnt panic n read ur manual carefully. It's lucky for us that the ROM cant be malfunctioned easily.
Most important thing for newbies like me, I think, is to be patient.
Look I really need help. When I was trying to install a rom on my kindle i accidentally wiped the system. I wiped everything!!! And i'm sure of it!!! And so i looked up what to do and it said I need to Update My Kindle again so i loaded the update with twrp and I rebooted and It made it worse!!! My kindle is just stuck at the logo screen and I have no idea what to do. I've looked up unbricking tools but they always say "Device Not Found". I've alway been kind of a jailbreak/rooting person but this is new to me. Please explain as best as you can because i'm only a kid and i'm new to the whole rooting or installing android on your kindle kind of thing. I also don't know if this is the right place to post this but if it isnt please don't get mad.
Please if you can give specific instruction on what to do. If you can also please give me instructions on how to install cyanogen on my kindle so I don't mess up again.
I have the first Kindle Fire and I want to install CM11.0 on my kindle.

I could be wrong, but it sounds like you are stuck in fastboot mode after flashing twrp. I don't think you are bricked. You can confirm this by using fastboot from your pc.
FWIW, wiping system is ok when flashing a rom - but wiping internal storage before flashing will leave you without any file to flash. Simply push the rom to the sd card on kindle (google it). You may have to reboot recovery for twrp to show the newly added file.
So bottom line - change the bootmode from fastboot to normal. Boot into recovery. Push new rom/gapps using adb. Reboot recovery. Flash new rom and gapps.
I think with so many threads like this folks are just sick of directing people to all the other multiple threads that would tell you how to fix this. Next time please use the 'search' feature (not trying to be rude here, but the first rule of XDA is to search).

If you flashed update.zip sounds to me like you have a broken or missing shell. In which cases you will need a factory cable found here post 9 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392693 . This will force it into fastboot so you can reflash fff and twrp then add a running OS.
I have a bricked kindle (8.9). i have followed ALL guide but still get red screen and then fast boot screen.
i have pushed boot and recovery and still get the same . i used first aid package and kfhd, but still boot to fastboot screen.
I would appropriate any help or guidance.

Hi,
i am still down. how did you get it to boot up. ? How did you fix it ? Mine is completely blank now. Thanks,
OK..let me find the thread that should get u going..I have it bookmarked on my PC but using mobile ATM, I will try to find it
this here should get you going! just follow EXACTLY! (with the exception of using KFFirstAide) just use regular command prompt run as admin) probably will not have to go past 8 in most cases, usually after you flash that recovery image and erase cache and user data it will reboot in it's OWN recovery on next reboot, and also when erasing user data, it could take up to 45 mins maybe depending on how long you had been using it before it got corrupted so don't panic when it sits there forever after you issue erase user data command. IF it reboots back into it's own recovery it will give you two options on the Kindle screen to either boot into OS or RESET to factory, in my experience I would definitely choose to RESET TO FACTORY DEFAULTS, but thats your choice, and if you need help I will try to walk you through it on some type of IM or google hangout or something. keep me posted as im curious to here the outcome. I know this has fixed two Kindles with the same problem as yours http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37278819&postcount=193
can you still access fastboot?
my KFHD 8.9 was stuck in fastboot mode also a few days ago (http://forum.xda-developers.com/kin...lp/help-stuck-kindlefire-boot-screen-t2971768), and @11fan helped me. (Thanks a lot!). That thread that he posted was the one that helped me revive my kindle. I also tried the KFHD SRT where i tried the option to restore with the SU app. I actually didnt know if that helped but when i was finally able to get my kindle going, it was on version 8.1.4 (i was on 8.5.1 before). Then i used that thread, the thing is, it took me 37 minutes to erase the userdata (as was mentioned by @11fan), and when i rebooted to system, i didnt go the restore factory settings (probably because i erased all the userdata already).
I hope you get to fix your kindle. i know the feeling of being in that situation.
