Rooting LG G4 Beat with Linux - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i need to root muy new G4 beat but every thread i could find used the LG Flash Tool which is a windows tool. I don't want to start messing up with virtual machines running windows so i wanted to know if there's another way of rooting. Or maybe there's a flashing tool for linux i didn't find.
Thank you very much.

Possible to root Tmo G3 manually

Hey guys,
Just got my G3 yesterday after Jumping from the Nexus 5.
I was just curious, because I couldn't find anything after searching the Tmo G3 forum, is there any sort of guide to rooting the Tmo G3 manually? I understand PurpleDrake has his own root utility, which looks awesome, but I've always been one to want to see exactly what I'm doing to establish root. (I know it probably won't be as easy as rooting the Nexus 5 obviously)
If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be awesome.
Thanks guys
here follow this if you have windows.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJtz51KgxjM
and if you have mac and linux its very straightforward just follow purpledrake method
this is the easiest android phone to root ive ever encountered seriously.
i did it on my mac and no need for drivers, and few clicks on terminal and you are done
I rooted with the zedomax video method posted above. It's super easy and only takes like 5mins to do.

downgrading lg g3 vs98512b to 10b without a windows machine.

At the moment i only own and have access to a linux laptop runnig ubuntu. my ultimate goal is to wipe my phone and install Cloudy kitkat untill the 5.0 version is avalible for my device. i have not had the phone for long so im not all that worried about data loss. in every guide i have read the best option for me is to downgrade to 10b and then root and flash cloudy. not a problem, asside from every guide ive found is for windows. if you could point me in the direction of a thread or tutorial that will show me how to do this from linux i would highly appreciate it. i dont mind the research and work involved in figureing it out, im just not finding any info on the subject at all. thank you.
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum for more relevant answers.

Rooting LG G3

Hi,
I'm sorry about the noobie thread (and I hope I've put it in the right section) but I've been trying to root my LG G3 for around 2 days now and every method I've found just doesn't want to work.
I have tried:
One-Click
PurpleDrake
Razrs edge
LG G3 Root Script v1.2
This isn't all the ones I've tried, I've tried others but couldn't actually find them all due me downloading them after they've failed.
It's the D855, Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and I'm based in the UK.
the major issue I had was the ADB being out of date, tried updating drivers and all sorts but still no luck!
I had another issue with an error message popping up and closes the command prompt, somethings towards not being compatible...
I'm close to giving up but thought I'd make a post asking for any advice on how to get this sorted.
Thanks for any advice,
Walsheh
EDIT: LGD85545108b5
I got this from one of the LG G3 Root command prompts, don't know if it's decent information.
Give this method a try...

Please, next time post in the Q/A Thread.
To root under mac os x and ubuntu, you can use a virtualisation software like virtual box (free!) to install windows and use the windows apps.
You can also use Boot Camp to install windows on your machine (https://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/).
I used virtualbox with windows 10 developper preview to root my phone and it worked great!
good luck!

I got frustrated and wrote a python script to replace send_command.exe from the LG_root.zip
Its really frustrating as well how android uses a linux kernel yet still people who hack it don't use Unix methods in their tools.

tried the apk and desktop in ptp and mtp several times. all failed
From the reading I did, the 11A OTA blocks most of the previously used root methods, such as Kingroot or LG One Click Root. I'm just going to copy and paste what I wrote in another thread to save time:
Just used the method in this thread about 3 weeks ago, and it worked. It's a bit painful, especially if you're not familiar with Linux (I am not), but I made it work after several hours of tinkering. You will need a computer running Linux, or a virtual machine running Linux, unless you just want to use the stock rooted 11A OTA that the OP uploaded to the thread. Personally, I didn't want to lose all of my settings and such from my pre-root days, so I copied my system.img from my device and ran the root inject program.
Bottom line, I know very little about computers, Linux, or the "guts" of Android, but I like to tinker with things, and I was able to make this work with my very limited knowledge.
