I run KFU and it tells me that the Status is online, but the boot is unknown. Would that have anything to do with the fact that it is already rooted? If not, how can I get it to 4000, so that I can install the recovery and other items?

Hi,
I have a Kindle Fire, rooted with Cynanogen Mod. I updated from CM11 to 12.1 but falls no longer works. Is there a way to fix this without wiping the device.
Thank you

Hi,
I'm afraid I don't know what the bootloader version is, but I'm using TWRP 2.7.0.0
I think I've got the gapps for CM11 instead of 12.1 so could I just reflash the newer GAPPS or do I need to wipe the device and reinstall everything?

I was using KFU 0.9.8 and i tried to install TWRP and my kindle fire got stuck on the logo. (I think it might be in fastboot or recovery). I am using windows 10 and i do have factory cables for it. When I plug it in to and out of the computer it does the little ding thing, but kfu does not recognize it and still sees waiting for device when trying to boot into regular.

Also is it still possible to install twrp, should i get FFF, TWRP Vs COTR in your opinion, and what does install google apps/go launcher ex do, and what is the dual boot option for? Sorry for so many questions, this is my first device to root!

I bought a kindle fire second hand that had Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 on it and i went to reset it back to the factory settings by downloading the newest Kindle software and following instructions online. It had TWRP as the loader on it and now when I use the KFU it will not let me change the boot mode (says it is unknown). No matter what I do the Kindle will not get out of the boot loop. Please help!!

fff is a custom bootloader
stock firmware can only be installed using twrp 2.2.2.1 or older

I loaded Amazon Kindle Update 6.3.4 using the TeamWin loader. I ordered the fastboot/factory cable today and should have it by monday. KFU is no longer supported? Is there no other way around this issue using what I have? Thanks.

installing stock is a little tricky
because it reinstalls stock recovery & bootloader, so no twrp or fff
you need to factory reset in twrp before rebooting
if doesn't boot to stock rom, you need a fastboot cable

Thanks for the help. When I get the cable on Monday I am going to try the steps you sent in the post and see if that works. Have you seen the error I am talking about? Where it will startup with the normal Kindle Fire logo and then go into a loop with "android calendar not working, force close" then it reboots and on and on?

Thank you so much for the help! I got the factory cable and was able to install the pre-rooted version. The only other question I have is how do i get Amazon Instant video to work? I have a Prime account and from what it looks like, when the rooted version is on there it knocks out the instant video. Any thoughts?
