data retrieval from broken Desire 820 - Desire 820 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a huge problem with my Desire 820. The screen is broken but phone is still working. Screen is completely black. Unfortunatelly I restarted it so I can find out whether it is on or off only by the vibration when phone is starting. Question is if there is any possibility to retrieve my photos? When I connected the phone to my laptop it can't see it...

[Q] HTC Desire G7 - unusable

I recently changed the LCD screen on my HTC Desire G7 (A1818) as it was dropped. Apart from a white line on the screen the handset appeared to work fine. Now the phone won't recognise the charger (please connect charger!) and the touchscreen doesn't work. When using the USB cable HTC Sync recognises the phone and appears to communicate with it. On hard reset I get the error Touch screen: fail.
I have changed the touch screen but it hasn't made any difference.
I have a few questions:
- If the LCD screen is faulty can that stop the touchscreen from working?
- It looks like it could be the LCD board; is there anything anybody suggest to check this board?
- Could this be a software fault?
- Could the two fault be related?
Please help as it is driving me mad and costing me loads .

[Q] My HTC Desire won't vibrate at all!

Hey guys, I have an HTC Desire (from Telus in Canada) that has been sitting around for a few months and just turned on again last night.
Everything works, but it seems to have stopped vibrating. It won't vibrate for phone calls, messages, keyboard, or any soft touches. I played with all of the settings and even did a factory reset, and it still won't vibrate.
Anyone else experience this problem before?
It must be hardware related.
Is your Desire still under warranty?

Click to collapse
I doubt it....
When did you bought and how long is your warranty?
It's likely the servo is dead. Have the same thing on my Desire, had to disassemble and replace it.
When you first start your device, it should vibrate when the screen first turns on (at least it does with my device). If it doesn't, time for a new vibrator (lol). If it does, it could be a software issue.

[Q] Desire HD Boot problem

HI guys
I've got a desire Hd, over 2 years old now so out of warranty. Not rooted, Android 2.3.5 ( I think), standard ROM on the T-mobile UK network.
When i turn it on, it a t-mobile screen shows, then the HTC screen (green HTC on white background), then another t-mobile screen.
After a minute or two, when it would normally show an android screen, the screen goes blank. The phone is still on, and the screen is still on but in a very dark grey. if you hold it on an angle the backlight appears to be on. But from that point nothing happens, the buttons no longer respond, and I have to remove the battery to turn it off.
I've booted into the recovery menu, but not sure what I am doing in there, so haven't played with much. I cleared the system cache but that did not help If i go to the fastboot menu, and connect to the usb cable, fastboot on the PC lists the phone in its devices, but ADB says nothing is connected.
I've not backed up in a while and there is data on there I would like to recover. For this reason, I've not tried a factory reset.
I guess I should also mention that the SD card slot stopped working several months ago, so any solution needing the card isn't going to help.
Not overly fussed about the device, but would definitely like to recover the data!
Thanks for your help.
Cheers
Jarrod

[Q] Broken digitizer/screen - swap motherboard chip to retrieve data?

I know similar questions have been asked before but here's my situation. Massive fight on the phone with the g/f ended up with my Desire HD screen smashed out of anger. The phone turns on, I hear the HTC intro music, the LEDs light up but the screen is black and non-responsive (based on using power key to light up screen but constant tapping of screen won't stop it going off).
The phone is not rooted nor on USB debugging mode. I can't sync it with my laptop or myphoneexplorer. From reading various threads I think its a lost cause to try to connect to it so I'm looking at the other option. Is it possible to physically take the internal memory out of the phone and have it installed onto a working phone just so I can take all the data off it? Has anyone made something like that?
Why not take it to repair shop and get new screen put in?
The option to remove memory chip is going to be hard and risky and reading data on it might be a problem too.
Like you said it turns on and works go get new screen...
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
I know, I've been quoted £80 to fix it but the phone isn't worth that much though I guess my data is!

[Help] HTC M9 Screen will not turn on

Hi all,
My One m9 is running ARHD (latest) along with the associated firmware. It has been working ok for the past few weeks - although I had noticed it getting a bit hotter than normal.
Today, now the screen will not turn on. I have force re-botted it a few times but cannt access Recovery/Bootloader either. Occasionally adb reports the device as:
000000000000 host
At other times, adb shows as if nothing is connected.
The phone makes sounds for WhatsApp messages etc being recieved. But nothing on the screen. The battery is almost flat and my plan is to let it burn out then see how it behaves when charged but looking for advice here first. Anything anyone has seen before?
Mark
