S4 jfltexx ROM variant on a jfltetmo S4? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

I have a Galaxy S4 jfltetmo, and a few days ago I decided to try and flash a ROM that was meant for S4 jfltexx, just to see if it would work. At first the flash failed, so I flashed TWRP for jfltexx onto my T-Mobile S4, then tried flashing the ROM for jfltexx and it worked! And to my surprise, I haven't noticed any major bugs yet. Has anyone else tried doing this before? If so, are there any known problems or bugs that people have experienced? What are the hardware differences between the 2 variants? Thanks!

Yes....everyones been able to run i9505 (jfltexx) roms for years now. The ROM dev for that ROM you tried didnt have our m919 included in his updater script, thats why it failed until you put a jfltexx recovery on.
Ive been using i9505 twrp v3 since it came out with no issues.
Any ROM bugs you have the i9505 will most likely have as well (look in rom thread).
Only other thing to note is that the m919 never got 5.0.1 so the LTE radio and modem are for 4.4.x and might effect performance/battery life on LP/MM.....hard to say if it does though....I'm using a 4.2.2 BL (MDL) and a 4.4.4 (OK3) modem and havent had any problems with any rom (JB/KK/LP/MM), that didnt already have an issue at the time of flashing.
Happy Flashing

Thanks for the reply and info!

I9505 aosp roms and us

so i went to the i9505 forums to find a good aosp rom and found probam. tried to flash and it failed because it checks what phone i have and will not flash if you have jfltetmo, but will flash on pretty much any other s4 variant. I asked in the roms thread why that is and was pretty much ignored. Though i was told that most i9505 aosp roms are like this.
Im just wondering why this is? our hardware is basically the same. Is it for our own good? or has our varient been forgotten about

[Q] SGH T999 and Roms.

I had recently obtained a s3 its a T-mobile, its running 4.1.2, with the T999UVDMD5 baseband. I rooted it, flashed xposed(haha the only thing XD). Well, reading about/friends have said there was trouble with the 4.3 update so I decided to stay on 4.1.2.
However, now I've decided to flash a custom rom, and I have noticed the different labels(D2lte, D2tmo, D2usa) and I had read from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736477 "As of right now, the roms for your S3 are not meant to be used on other S3 variants" .
I have a few questions:
1.There was a baseband update, should I update it? If so, how exactly?
2.Would it be wise to flash a D2lte on This T-mobile device? I was looking at Resurrectionhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2692481(originally waiting on cm11 but.. Yeah lol)
3.Looking at KitKat rooms, which ones could I flash?
4.Would it be safe, if I did flash a 4.4.2 to restore a nandroid backup of my fresh rooted stock 4.1.2.
5.Lastly, what kernel would you say use?(Sorry to ask, curiosity as to which i could flash)
I appreciate taking your time to answer my questions and have a good day!
1) custom recovery.. There are zips available to flash
2) d2lte covers all d2 devices so its safe
3)Any on the development threads
4) Yes
5) like on 3, you can flash any kernel in the development threads, experiment and see which one works the best for you!

To answer your questions:
1. You do not need to update your firmware - I'm still on MD5. Modems, however, can be flashed separately from firmware.
2. You can flash d2lte ROMs on this phone as it's all one unified build for US SGS3 variants. (I.e. T-Mobile/AT&T/Sprint/Verizon SGS3 is now all built under d2lte).
3. As far as which KK ROM to flash...just try them all out and see which ones you like the best. Each ROM has different features - see which one is right for you.
4. If you don't update your firmware, then yes. (FYI, flashing a custom KK ROM does not update your firmware. However, if you flash one of the 4.3 root66 files that has firmware included, then it will update your firmware).
5. Again, try it out. It's hard to say which ROM/kernel combination will work best. I suggest you read the forums to see what people think of them.
Hope that helps.

No problem, and i forgot to say but the only time you might need to update modem is if you flash a 4.3 touchwiz ROM, other than that its not really needed unless you want to experiment and see if one gives you better results

Oh, and one more thing: DO NOT flash a ROM that is for the international version of the SGS3 (i9300). It will, most definitely, brick your phone.
Don't know if you knew that or not...just wanted to make sure.

n900w8 Baseband Unknown

Just like the title says.
I have the n900w8 variant of the note 3 which works in canada and mexico. not sure about other countries. So I installed the hyperdrive rom that is for the n900t model.
It works awesome i had to flash some fixes now when i try to flash one of the s5 ports for the n900t or n9005 which both of them are compatible I get the unknown baseband and no imei issue. I hope someone in here can help me.
i have to mention that i made a nandroid backup and after the rom is flashed I flash the back up but only restoring Modem and Efs. still same issue.

There's a few guys that can (or rather willing to) do bling builds. But the problem with blind builds is, you cannot test them. Not too many dev's from Canada. Sorry. As I get time, i will work with Allen on W9008 buids if there's enough people to warrant the time and effort.

The only way you can solve the imei and baseband
issue is to Odin flash the original STOCK firmware.
After Odin flashing you can root the phone
and flash a custom recovery if you like.
You can also flash a custom rom which was
created for your specific phone's model.
Then just be careful of what you flash in
the future.
You can find the original STOCK ODIN (TAR) firmware
at http://sammobile.com
Good luck!
working now

Hi there,
Mind helping me? I ended up having unknown Baseband and IMEI null during lollipop upgrade. I tried flashing back to original stock rom both kitkat and lollipop but I still got same issues. I ended up rooting the phone and currently running twrp. I'm just at lost right now on what else to do. I'm thinking of putting custom ROM but I"m not sure with one will work. I have SM-N900W8 Canadian version.

Sweet ROMs in the international forum

Hadn't been over there in quite a while, but the N7105 forums have some sweet ROMs if you're looking for a change that should work fine on our phones...
Currently running "CM Remix" which has everything but the kitchen sink for an AOSP rom, and so far seems very smooth and stable

They should all be safe to flash. Same hardware on the internal LTE variant.
The build.prop and APNs may vary slightly, but many of the ROMs in this forum are exactly the same as their international versions anyway

By checking for a modem in the zip as the n7105 modem isn't compatible with AT&T or t-mobile. If modem is in the zip I usually just replace with proper modem for your carrier.

No since it's AT&T you will need an AT&T modem in the phone as any other modem will cause an unknown baseband.

Got it, thanks!
Still running the ROM I mentioned in the OP, and it has too many features and too few flaws (none!) for me to try any other!
New build made yesterday - gonna try that, though
BTW, didn't have to change anything to get it optimized for the ATT model- even the APNs were all set up (unless maybe I restored settings that I wasn't aware of)...
1st Nov 2014 (ver 3.0.5.0 STABLE Fix)
Kernel : bundled with latest agni kernel ( Boeffla Sound version with new wifi module)
Update SuperSu to ver 2.16
native support to F2FS (no need to flash any convertor, native support F2FS partition of System. Internal data and Cache partition)
Fixed ART mode * (1 st Nov 2014)

Looks like a great rom!. I'm assuming this rom is ok to flash for any LTE variant (Bell) since it doesn't include a modem?

Should be fine! Just back up as you always would with TWRP and make sure you backup the modem as well. That way you'll always have one backed up if you need it just in case...
Yep, as long a modem isn't included in the zip (which it *typically* isn't in the case of AOSP based roms), you're good to go.
I personally don't even flash t0lteatt roms when they're available and instead use their t0lte counterparts, as the t0lte versions are sometimes more likely to be updated more often (and in some cases the t0lteatt device tree has been abandoned entirely!)
And if anyone's wanting to build a rom from source, while we're on the topic of AOSP roms, the t0lte tree is the way to go as far as the Galaxy Note 2 LTE models are concerned.

What reminded me to check the international forum was when I went to deactivate my old phones in Google Play Music, I noticed most of them were listed as an N7105- and all of the ROMs were downloaded from this forum anyway...
I was wondering about trying Roms from that forum too. I kept seeing posts where someone said something about a DN4 Rom. So I looked it up and downloaded..........only to find that it is not one of the Roms that works on our phone.......as of yet. It did flash and start up, but before I could make it past the welcome screen, I got a bunch of pop-ups about various items "quit working." And they kept coming back. And then I had the unknown baseband with no signal.................basically it just doesn't work. Damn shame too, cause it looked so nice. But this did make me look at the other Roms and I will be trying a few of them. I must say though, DN4 had my mouth watering for the GN4 experience on my 2.

CyanogenMod question.

Hello guys! So I just had a quick question about the t0ltetmo ROMs from CyanogenMod. I asked on their Facebook page but some jack off that "works for CyanogenMod" was just rude as hell, and called me stupid. So does anyone know if CyanogenMod unified the t0lte ROM and is safe for flashing on other variants? The t0ltetmo, t0lteatt etc. Thanks guys! And if you could, send me a link where they announced that? I saw the post that said they were going to make a unified ROM but they never posted and said it was done. Thanks all!
From my experience if you see t0lte, t0lteatt, t0ltetmo, N7105, it should be fine to install if your device is any of those you just may happen to flash a modem afterward if the ROM includes one and it isn't your device.
In short, it's safe.

Thanks! So even if the ROM wasn't unified, it has no way of bricking my phone real bad? If it doesn't work, it can be restored with a backup? Cuz yea, I have the t-mobile version, and the ROM I'm talking about was made for the international. It MAY be unified, not sure.

I've been flashing all sorts of ROMs under the previously mentioned codenames with no issues. Stay away from other Galaxy Note II codenames though, N7100, i605, l900
Thanks for your help man! Also, which variant do you have?
t0lteatt. Wish I had the t0ltetmo since I'm on T-Mobile and this ATT one won't get LTE some reason
