Introduction
By mistake I set the band_ref to USA and thereby disabled my first sim card slot :crying: . I read up on it and knew that it's fixable with the right drivers, so I spent my Sunday searching for the Qualcomm Diagnostic (& more) drivers. This topic lists em. Usually, these drivers are part of the Mi PC Suite, but that thing doesn' t support Android 6 or the Mi5 right now. So it is useless to us right now!
Tested on: Windows 10 64 Bit (in Test Mode)

I did the same! And that's how I started to look for these drivers.
All you need to do is change the ban_pref* values back to the original, for the Sim-Card you changed it.
Set the following values in your phone, for the Sim-Card you disabled em. (By Clicking band mode USA)

Ask if you have questions, it's not too hard if you read the guides, but better save than sorry.
Praying for the day someone will unlock band 20, so I can already order the indian version of the mi5..

Hey guys, is this device going to have development in roms? I mean, xiaomi uses to release kernel source for snapdragon devices right? Do you think it will be the same with mi5?

Why would you buy a phone when you already know that you don't like the OS it runs on? .... So if you don't like MIUI you have to trust in a random person who will spend his free time to develop software for the Xiaomi Mi5. (Or maybe a team, let's say, 5 people).
And now you put those 5 people vs the ~750 Android developers that work for Google.

Because of the price difference....Nexus 6P is awesome but I wont pay too much for an smartphone when I can get another similar for much less money
So the only thing that would make me do the effort is software. Because about hardware...I love mi5 as much as 6P. Even I prefer mi5 because of size
And I can see that past Mi devices have had a big development, with CM official and many roms. If them are good enought, would be an option to consider

I can relate to that, but this is the android world we live in, where we get awesome phones but the software is not as good, lack of updates, and sometimes like you said thr software is not how we like it and there is too much bloatware...

Yes it's about picking the compromises you can live with.
Good thing about the Xiaomi top products is that they get updates like Nexus devices do.
The Mi3 and Mi4 get Android 6, the mi3 was released in 2013.
The Mi2 from 2012 got Android 5 and with custom Roms might get 6.
Concerning updates, is the Mi5 future proof, but if you don't like Miui... That doesn't help.

Yep I know. That´s why knowing if xiaomi is releasing kernel and sources would help...because surely many devs would take it and work on it, cause it´s a popular device. Well, I guess hahaha
Miui is regulary updated but it still having some drawbacks. Some apps/xposed dont work well, it´s many different from aosp
Anyway thanks for your opinion. Would be nice If someone has read something about this or know something else

You can use Qualcomm's own drivers, dont need any "Mi5" drivers to communicate with your phone, and no its not important which android version you have. Windows 10 might be a problem though. But in case you wanna try every driver, here you are, all Sunday you said ?

I found a lot of drivers, before finding these.
Which of your links work for the SD 820 and Windows 10 64Bit?
( you surely tried em all and must know)

The Androidbrick page is from April, I got my phone in March and found the drivers in March. So there is a slight possibility that that guy found the same drivers or well he did copy and paste from here. Now that I did not have the possibility to copy the Xiaomi Qualcomm Drivers from myself, as I did not invent time-travel and solve some paradoxes.... I could not copy and paste from myself and so had to find the drivers online. Keeping in mind that the original download page is offline, I am 100% sure that this Androidbrick guy just took the drivers from this topic!
To be sure you get this: Androidpick writes: "Create Date Nisan 11, 2016" what means, "Create Date April 11, 2016".
So that means, I did what you were supposed to do and can end it with the conclusion that you are an idiot. You don't have to respond do this.

Further, on my Mi 5 is not famous. I don't care about your Facebook link. (As it is from the 6th of April, and this topic was created on the 14th of March)
One little detail to add is: I was one of the very few people that got a Mi5 from the first flash-sale. (Very few people that live outside of China got their Mi 5 on the 7th of March. )
However. Things are as they are. It's simple. You were too lazy and too stupid to check the dates. And for this, I called you an idiot.
One other explanation for your behaviours is that you are a victim of the dunning-kruger-effect, yet I don't care about that, make a test for it and figure it out alone. I won't help you here.
Uh ... and I hope you are aware that the drivers in this topic are Qualcomm's drivers, those drivers have nothing to do with Xiaomi, it's all about Qualcomm.

1. WiFi direct is already present on the software that will launch will the phone. And it will remain present over future updates
2. The device will not come pre rooted, but if users do root it, we will provide the same terms of warranty to them.
We/Cyngn will provide a debuggable kernel from our side.
fastboot oem unlock command can unlock bootloader, you do not need a key from our website. Exactly like it is done on Nexus models.
3. There will be multiple flash sales. The units going up on sale on each iteration will be limited, but the numbers will ramp up over time.

Right now, for the first couple of sales as much as I am aware, Amazon.in can ship only to Indian cities.
As far as the company YU is considered, we definitely have global ambitions, and we are looking at how we can reach out the people outside the subcontinent.
Whether global shipping will be available on future sales of the same model, or we will start going global with future models is something that is still under works.

Double Tap2Wake is present. It ships with Cyanogen Recovery (NOT CWM). (ref: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_bootable_recovery-cm )
"Playing God", Really? YU need to produce a Real Kick Ass Device before you presume to Play God.
The YUreka is not that device. It's cheap and that's it. Nothing Original. Cyanogen did not do anything different other that new Icons all else is the same as Oneplus. Come on Men even the YU Logo was Taken From SONY's PlayStation's. YU remind me of the Amazon Fire Phone. They too talked a lot and then did not sell enough.
Come up with something original and really innovative and stop presuming to play god.

AFAIK, If you are on official cm11s build then you will get further OTA updates even after root..
but you will probably loose root.

The YU Yureka is missing most of the sensor support that is present on the Coolpad F2 including e-compass (just check youtube reviews showing sensor support for both phones). So it won't be showing any directions what so ever...

The Coolpad F2 has it, while the YU Yureka doesn't have it. So the hardware is not identical.

This phone seemed stellar in most way until Asus announced its Zenfone 2.
So just out of curiosity, can you please address these queries below:
1. As of Zenfone 2, due to 64-bit architecture 4GB RAM was possible on device and hence the advantage. Yu also has a 64-bit architecture SoC, but what is the advantage?
2. How does Snapdragon 615 perform against Intel Atom Z3580 (on the Zenfone 2)?
3. Yureka is the first model from YU, are there any other model in the works (probably another re-brand)?
4. The phone goes sale on 13th Jan, means as soon as order is kept it can ship immediately?

Enable 64bit mode for the N910C (Exynos)
Hello, I just packed our Logo up there, since the entire effort is initiated by us (SimplTeam), but we're not the only ones working on this. :angel:
This thread was created out of a thread in the General section (here) and is intended as a development thread.
Please only post if you are a developer and/or want to help out with bringing this project ahead. Please post basic questions about 64bit or similar things in the linked thread in the General subforum, so we can keep a clean discussion going.
At the present time only @Pafcholini and me work on this, we'd be happy for any help and delighted if you'd join us
The idea
Usually the Exynos 5433 runs in 32bit mode, but the sourcecode comes with an /arm64 folder inside /arch, which contains a defconfig file for a 64bit build.
Because that would be too easy, that config file has interesting settings, but isn't a standalone defconfig. Too bad..
But it did contain some evidence for being what we thought it might be:

Note the Experimental part. Merging it with the normal 5433 910C defconfig didn't yield any promising results either, so we instead moved to the Galaxy S6, which has a 64bit 7420 Exy chip aboard and looked into its sourcecode.. Bingo!
With the S6's defconfig we managed to eradicate some of the more severe compilation errors, but obviously we can't just take the config from a different phone and compile a build for a Note with it.
Also the S6 Readme file directed us to a 64bit toolchain (https://android.googlesource.com/platform/prebuilts/gcc/linux-x86/aarch64/aarch64-linux-android-4.8/) with which we managed to get the comp starting. And yes - This time it started compiling by using the /arm64 folder instead the usual ones
The problem(s)
Just had to make this reference.. Sorry. Apparently some of the drivers aren't compatible with 64bit, and we faced problems with the DMAG and GPIO. Both problems have been patched by using the S6 sourcecode as technical reference.
It also seems that the 7420 is in parts running the same hardware as the 5433, the DMAG for example is a PL330 and the same in both chips. That makes patching up problems easier.
Despite our solving attempts since a few days, only about 20% of the compilation is working as of now. Any input and idea on how to get the job done would be hugely appreciated.
The sourcecode is synced with Github, so you can download it, attempt a compilation and fix up stuff if you want. Pull Requests are always welcome. Or just join us alltogether

The idea
Usually the Exynos 5433 runs in 32bit mode, but the sourcecode comes with an /arm64 folder inside /arch, which contains a defconfig file for a 64bit build.
Because that would be too easy, that config file has interesting settings, but isn't a standalone defconfig. Too bad..
But it did contain some evidence for being what we thought it might be:

Note the Experimental part. Merging it with the normal 5433 910C defconfig didn't yield any promising results either, so we instead moved to the Galaxy S6, which has a 64bit 7420 Exy chip aboard and looked into its sourcecode.. Bingo!
With the S6's defconfig we managed to eradicate some of the more severe compilation errors, but obviously we can't just take the config from a different phone and compile a build for a Note with it.
Also the S6 Readme file directed us to a 64bit toolchain (https://android.googlesource.com/platform/prebuilts/gcc/linux-x86/aarch64/aarch64-linux-android-4.8/) with which we managed to get the comp starting. And yes - This time it started compiling by using the /arm64 folder instead the usual ones
The problem(s)
Just had to make this reference.. Sorry. Apparently some of the drivers aren't compatible with 64bit, and we faced problems with the DMAG and GPIO. Both problems have been patched by using the S6 sourcecode as technical reference.
It also seems that the 7420 is in parts running the same hardware as the 5433, the DMAG for example is a PL330 and the same in both chips. That makes patching up problems easier.
Despite our solving attempts since a few days, only about 20% of the compilation is working as of now. Any input and idea on how to get the job done would be hugely appreciated.
The sourcecode is synced with Github, so you can download it, attempt a compilation and fix up stuff if you want. Pull Requests are always welcome. Or just join us alltogether

I don't really have more time at the moment, but still wanted to try something new..
After I somehow managed to lose my own sources, I had to pull the from github again, only to notice that they lacked a little detail.. The arm64 folder with the config file I need
So I opted for a new approach: Compare the S6 config with the one from the Note4 and overhaul the Note4's config instead going the other way around.
It seems to have worked a little better, it's now compiling a little bit more and past a previous error - I believe - but the joy was too early, since this time the sound drivers said bye-bye :crying:
The reason for it seems pretty clear from the compiler error output, as far as my first quick glance has revealed, some of those drivers just don't want to work with 64bit.. Since I'm flirting with the GS6 Edge anyways at the moment, I'm going to compare them and try to patch the Note4 with stuff I learn from the S6. Both SoC software is pretty similar in many places, which raises the chances of success considerably

I remember back then when the nexus 4 didnt have LTE capability but tge modem was capable and a great dev did unlock the LTE on it. Belive me man if you get this 64 bit runnin you will make us happy and you will be remembered forever

That's correct, that's my point of view and I've been saying in other threads, this is Android Open Source, Thanks Linux and GOD lol, this is no iOS, it might be hard, or not easy, but neither impossible, I have my hopes, and im always thinking positive, and like I said before maybe with the upcoming Note 5 things could get easier with porting and developing to the Note 4, and yes, we have alottttt of amazing developers, I just wish some of them can TeamUp with @mythos234 and make this possible, cheers:fingers-crossed::highfive:

It definately possible, there is no doubt there. But I fear that at some point I might run into compatibility problems which will need a software department to rewrite them and that isn't even too unlikely to happen.
At the moment however, I'm just patching, fixing and enjoying it

I think they will work, only the Exynos 5433 can be "if someday happens" 64 bit enable, rather than the Snapdragon which is full 32 bit, but of course I guess that would be depending on the number of developers working on the N910L variant, remember to take everything with a grain of salt, god bless, cheers:fingers-crossed:

If your phone can run a C kernel, then yes it should work. Otherwise I'd need to make the build for the L from scratch. Considering how painful this is with one build, that scenario would be rather unlikely, unless I had an extenesive period of boredom Have to admit that I'm still playing with my S6 Edge at the moment, I need a break. Not forgetting this project by any means though :angel:

Let's agree, GPS and FM Radio fixing is out of our reach right now. No one has been able to fix it and chances are no one will in the distant future. We need private code of GPS and FM Radio from ASUS and Broadcom to fix this and no one here is an expert in Reverse Engineering, So, I think it's safe to say, we can't fix this on our own.
We have a very stable CM13 for our device that very few other devices have. Heck, OnePlus X got its first official nightly a few days ago. And I think we will get Android N in the future by our developers (I hope ).
Zenfone 5 is a great device, even after 2 years, I can imagine having it for another 2 years or more but I want the next 2 years bug free and stable and I think everyone wants this.
Our primary concern should be about getting this GPS and FM Radio code because we have everything in our reach other than this. GPS and FM Radio are what we need, not different cyanogenmod-based ROMs every day.
Both the companies have rights of their own to decide whether they want to share it or not but why shouldn't we try in our own means ?
We can post daily on ZenTalk once requesting the code or just sit here enjoying our bugged ROMs.
We, as a mass, can do this. We just have to be persistent about the matter and not lose interest, Enough resistance and load on ZenTalk server and we can make an impact on them, just an impact. We just need to make sure they know we want this.
I tried to contact few of the prominent developers here but they weren't willing and I understand why, this is a lost cause if there isn't enough participation from the community. So,
I hope everyone has an opinion about this matter. We can achieve this and we will.

This guy has raised a valid point. We have so many awesome ROMs coming up but only issue is GPS and FM. We should find out means to fix this and get out ROMs full usable.
As far as ASUS developers are concerned, they have not been able to provide us even a lollipop OTA with Battery Drain Fixed so i dont expect any help from them. They are busy making newer devices and ignoring ZF5 users who took the risk of buying an ASUS device when ASUS was a new player in the smartphone market.
Either our XDA developers have to find out something else we should flood ZenTalk to get their attention this !!!!!

Soo i think we unload our anger on Zen talk would not make a difference.

What @ChristopherXI said is true, ASUS is ignoring the first generation Zenfones since the release of the Zenfone 2, proof of this is that even a good and optimized Lollipop ROM didn't come to Zenfone 5, even a OTA update for Lollipop...

FM Radio is a secondary/optional thing, as most people dont use it(have offline music or services like spotify instead), but GPS is a must, the question is how to find the proper sources, if any device has a similar hardware, it could be backported, on Motorola Atrix's time, a group built a 3.10.x kernel from scratch(literally) as 2.6.32 was totally obsolete for android 4.x(motorola's drivers just didnt work), the same can be done on the zenfone, if only people find a similar hardware with open source code and time(plus lots of testers reporting issues properly/logcats).
Complain about it wont fix it, finding a workaround will.

The problem is this source code is for device with arm processor. (our device has a x86 processor)
The other way to use a reverse engineering. It have been done too. But it does not work.
It is very hard to fix it because Bluetooth.apk, bluetooth.default.so and gpsd has many dependencies.

For context, I am a software developer but my Android experience is limited to writing a few apps, so I'm hoping to learn a bit more before diving in and breaking things.
Initially, I'm wondering what would be the realistic chances of bricking a Mi 5s if I dropped a OnePlus 3T (or other SD 821 based) ROM straight on to it. I understand that, say, the camera and fingerprint reader wouldn't work out of the box, but with the same SoC I would expect the kernel to retain compatibility between the two devices. Or am I being naïve? Are there bootloader issues that I'm not even considering here?
For that matter, what failure modes are likely to prevent me from getting back to TWRP and just putting the stock ROM back if the experiment doesn't work?
Assuming I could get something bootable without my shiny new Mi 5s irrevocably bricking/imploding/catching fire/gaining sentience and instigating a robot uprising, I feel like there would be plenty to learn from tweaking parameters and generally getting towards something usable - but I'm aware that unlike a PC I don't have the worst-case fallback of pulling the hard drive and wiping it in another machine if things go too far wrong.

You would most likely be able to get back into recovery, but it will never boot this ROM, when Xiaomi release sources for this device we might be able to get CM working..

Well, yeah... I don't see what's wrong with asking questions to learn about something I'm not familiar with.
Everythings different, its a different device, different blobs, kernel, partitions and so on. It will never work. And no one will be able to port until kernel sources are released.

In my experience, it's only necessary to recompile a binary from source when changing to a different instruction set; sure, drivers on the components that differ will likely be a problem, but the core components are the same. If it won't work at all, I was hoping to learn why.

Different OEM's, different implementations, although it may be easier to port it once we have the blobs and device tree. That's one of the first things we need to build a ROM from scratch.
Is there any ETA for when the sources will be released?

Remember that the Redmi Note 7 still dont have a official version to this very day.
The current root methods described here on XDA for the RN8Pro feels like…

Exactly. And adding to that, the amount of misinformation and blatant liters around this handset is just absolutely mind-blowing. At some point you might see someone casually ranting about how it's best not to expect anything positive about this device and then you turn your head around only to see the same person claiming to be a ROM developer that almost have a fully functional ROM for it.... XIAOMI didn't even release the touchscreen driver for the phone!!! Yet some "developers" out there somehow has a "working ROM" and looking for testers.... ???

Btw sorry to say that but the source code is complete you will understand if you know some git.See i am not just blant this is the proof:
In folder
drivers/input/touchscreen/fts8719
Create path
include/firmware/
Create empty file - focal_g7_01.i
Touch driver working ?

Hey, just wondering. Is there any information about panel used? Tried 10 apps to check but none can gave me screen panel manufacturer name

Well you got me there. But i hope you know where this is coming from. There's a lot riding on this device so we can't afford to have anyone mess with its reputation.
On a side note, I'm willing to try things out, now that i know you're legit. That's if you still needa tester. Let me know. ?

But my only concern is that if Xiaomi doesn't give legit unbrick tool we can't do anything coz when we flash through some third party tool also it needs Xiaomi server permission:crying:
