Hi,
I am using rooted, deodexed stock rom on my Note 8.0. (Android 4.1.2)
I just want to flash stock 4.2.2 rom on the device using Odin.
But it fails with this message:
Code:
<ID:0/006> Added!!
<ID:0/006> Odin v.3 engine (ID:6)..
<ID:0/006> File analysis..
<ID:0/006> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/006> Initialzation..
<ID:0/006> Erase...
<ID:0/006> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/006> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/006> sboot.bin
<ID:0/006> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/006> FAIL!
What could be wrong with my setup ?
Btw, my Note 8.0 is N5105 (a version of N5100 without phone app) , but the current ROM on the device is rooted, deodexed N5100 rom.

Hi,
I guess I've accidentally deleted my partition table. Can anyone help me with a pit file ?
...
Hi,
I'm sorry to ear that, but could you be more specific about your Note 8 ? Is it the LTE Canadien Version from Bell/Telus/Rogers?
no. I have the 3G version (N5100) with 16GB internal sd.
I believe the LTE version pit file could solve this as long as it has 16GB internal memory.
Ok; the problem is solved.
I installed the stock recovery and then made a factory data reset through stock recovery.
That option resets the partition table.
Good to know...
so, now that the partition problem is solved, can anyone give me an idea about why I am unable to flash stock 4.2.2 through Odin ?
Thanks.

Bad download? Check the md5. Happens sometimes.
You may consider to change the ROM file name from tar.md5 to tar. Then, remove tz, sboot and modem from the tar file and flash it. The idea is not to flash the bootloader and the modem. Not sure if this is applicable to your case.

good idea. I will try this.
if sboot is bootloader and modem is modem what is tz.img ?
and which tool should I use to remove files from tar file ?
winrar does not delete.
I would also like to try changing bootloader so that it is totally N5100 from now on.
isn't that possible ? (any other methods ?)

Tz.img is Trusted Zone. I dunno what it is for. Normally, there is not such file for stock rom from Samsung if bootloader is not updated.
Changing bootloader not for your device is very risky and might hard brick you device.

How about 7zip?

tried 7zip just now.
when opening the file it says "There is no correct record at the end of archive"
is that because of the md5 ?
and it doesn't also remove files...

I also use ALZip. It should work.

Alzip is successful to remove the files.
I will try flashing this crippled tar file later tonight.
but I seriously would like to try updating bootloader.
isn't tehre any safe way to do it ?
is the bootloader integrated with download mode ? I mean does the download mode remain if bootloader is corrupted ?
thx.
Hi again,
I've tried installing the stock rom without tz, sboot and modem files. It was successful.
But there was no app to call "settings" in the app drawer. Also, the settings button on the menu did nothing.
So this stock 4.2.2 for Germany does not have settings app. Is that possible ?
once you are rooted, why arent you flashing roms in recovery, insted of using Odin?

It seems abnormal. Anyway, you may try to install another launcher, said Apex, and see if it can call the setting app.

Hello
It looks like I've bricked my Tab S 8.4 (no carrier), so I downloaded Heimdall 1.3 (I'm a Mac user) and the appropriate stock ROM in the tar.md5 format. My problem is now that Heimdall can't pull off the necessary pit file from my tab, meaning I can't flash the ROM... Seems that I need a pit file for the SM-T700... Is there any way to get out of this problem? Has someone the pit file for this device?
Many thanks for helping me I'd really appreciate it as I'm stuck here
I have a working tab s 10.5 inch. I would like to know how to get a pit file from a device also in case if something fails. Anyway I do believe you need a pit file so odin or heimdall can flash the rom correctly.

I think there's a thread where someone posted the pit for the 10.5.
Seems like I need one for the 8.4 (Wifi only).
I think it's best if I post a second thread for the request of a pit for the 8.4.
I tried flashing a stock firmware downloaded from sammobile and the flash was successful. Auto re-boot was selected so the phone rebooted but it booted into download mode. I flashed the same firmware again and this time odin stays stuck at NAND write start. I googled the problem and found out that problem can be fixed by flashing a pit file. I can't find the pit file anywhere online. How do I solve the issue? Can anyone provide the pit file? Will flashing the pit file fix the problem?
Check which firmware you are flashing and confirm that it matches your phones firmware, then first try without PIT File but make sure Modem and CSC are select, else brick the phone completely and then install Stock ROM but make sure you select it according to your country
N750 pit file
pit file SM N750 (Samsung note 3 neo 3g variant)
Hi guys,
I need the pit of the N7100 with the new knox enabled bootloader (came with kitkat I think). I only found one from 2012, where I think there was another pit structure.
Can someone use Heimdall -> Utilities -> download pit for me? I can't do it on my bricked Note.
Thanks.
Hi guys, newbie here,
I have a p5200 32gb white model tablet, but was running cm12.1 without problems. Then i decided to revert to stock 4.2, and did a nandroid-backup to a external SD-Card, EFS was also part of the nandroid-backup. but i forgot to obtain the PIT file from the device. The flashing of the stock ROM works, but bootloops. i need that PIT file please... Can anyone here help me?? I scoured the web for a PIT file, but bears no fruit.
Thanks in advance.
