Hi,
My galaxy note 2 (N7105) had a lot of crash since a couple of months so I decided to flash a custom rom.
So, first step I rooted my phone with odin & CF-Auto-Root. Then, I installed CWM & download some ROM to try.
First, with MIUI V5 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2597096
On boot, ask me for my pin then load again & again, non stop. Can't change language & it was Japanese...
Second, CM : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-2/development-n7105/rom-unofficial-build-t3067695
Boot correctly but don't know why, after one or two reboot, I got a bootloop...
Third, to fix bootloop, I flashed Stock rom deodexed : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2761937
Using Odin (can't access to recovery). Boot correctly but my sim card is not recognized, so for a phone... not perfect
Finally, I tried to install again CM 12.1 but got infinity boot & then tried to flash Resurection rom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...om-resurrectionremix-lp-v5-5-2-t0lte-t3170529
But got a infinity boot again so I flashed again Stock rom deodexed & my sim card is not recognized like before.
So, what's the problem ? Why can't i flash cm or other rom without infinity boot ? & Why stock rom can't recognize my SIM card ?
Please, help me cause I don't have other phone currently...
Thanks in advance !

did you do a factory reset in recovery?
you can try twrp
Mmh I tried with twrp but it's the same (with factory reset)
Hello forum,
I have a HTC Desire 816 dual SIM and I would like to install Cyanogenmod.
Surprisingly, the recovery is not the HTC stock recovery, instead it is "Android.system recovery <3e>"
like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-816/help/how-to-restore-backup-file-t3026014
This recovery behaves quite different, so I can not follow the standard procedure to flash a custom rom on HTC 816g dual SIM.
What works:
I was able to root the phone (using Kingo Root)
I have a working adb root access to the device
I can boot into fastboot
Obviously Android.system recovery has access to external SD card as it can "backup user data" there
My Problems:
I am not able to install a custom recovery
I followed the instructions from https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_a5dwg and I tried all 3 ways mentioned at https://twrp.me/devices/htcdesire816.html but the devise still keeps on booting into "Android.system recovery" (Vol. down. button).
My questions:
Is it possible to flash a custom ROM using this "Android.system recovery"?
How can i perform a backup of the stock ROM before flashing (this is essential)?
How can I restore the stock ROM from the backup using this "Android.system recovery"?
Thanks for your support

alternative strategie
Hello forum,
As working with the Android.system recovery seems to be difficult, I consider another way:
Is it possible to flash a custom ROM without using this recovery?
I read some articles mentioning MTK Droid Tools and SP Flashtools (eg. hxxps://forum.hovatek.com/thread-159.html).
Should I investigate this further?
Main points:
performing a backup of the current stock ROM
be confident, that the backup of the stock ROM can be restored, just in case...
flashing of custom ROM (hxxps://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=a5dwg)
Does anybody have suggestions or experiences with this idea?
Thanks for your feedback.

i have the exactly same problem
any heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp
Cyanogenmod does not fit
Hello Forum,
I got some steps further and managed to install TWRP recovery by doing this:
I performed a backup of stock ROM with SP Flashtool and MTK Droid Tool.
hxxps://forum.hovatek.com/thread-526.html
I rooted the device using Kingo Root (2 attempts)
hxxps://root-apk.kingoapp.com/kingoroot-download.htm
TWRP recovery installed using this Magic Tool:
hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2798257
performed another backup of the stock ROM using TWRP
Then I copied some different versions of official and unofficial Cyangenmod 12 and 13 ROMs on my sd card and tried to install it via TWRP.
But none of them worked [TWRP message]:
"This package is for device: a5, a5tl, a5dug, a5dwg, a5chl, a5ul;
this device is htc_a5mpg_dug.
Error executing updater binary...."
Any suggestions what to do?
What I have learned so far:
My device is a HTC Desire 816 G with MT6592 chipset. This is different from 816 (without G)!
816 G is not supported by Cyangenmod (and never will). For experienced porters (not me) there is some stuff for Mediatec devices at mtkroms.com
I have definitely reached my limits. After hours of searching I could not find a custom rom for my device which is ready to flash (without porting).
Is there anybody out there who could provide me and other readers of this thread a link to a working custom rom?
Hi everybody, I've encountered a strange problem and i come to see if anybody can help me.
Symptom: can't boot into primary ROM. Fine booting into secondary.
I'm using OnePlus 3 with H2OS 3.0 stable v2 as my primary ROM, and official Resurrection Remix as my secondary (installed to data partition).
Today I wanted to update my RR to the newest version so I downloaded the zip and by the way updated Dual Boot Patcher to 9.2.0_r106.
When I turned to ROM tab, it asked me to set kernel (which i did not know why), I didn't care much and pressed 'Yes' (in my Resurrection Remix), then i rebooted to recovery in order to install the patched zip file.
Somehow it failed to install, so I decided to boot into primary and flash with Dual Boot Patcher in primary ROM. But here it happened...It turned black out after I've chosen to boot into primary in the boot screen.
I tried flashing the boot-before-updating-ramdisk.img but it only led to boot loop in boot animation of primary ROM.
ps. Today I found my magisk root in RR is lost. Are these things related?
Can anybody help me with this......
is it because I set kernel while not in primary rom? How do i solve it?
And I'd also like to know what exactly does 'set kernel' do? What files does it modify?
Hello, i'm new in custom recovery etc. My problem is. I have Alcatel OT4027D(pixi 3 4.5 3g) with TWRT and installed cyanogenmod 12.1 . This version for my phone has too much bugs so i decided to get new custom rom (this https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65298270&postcount=629). But the problem is, this rom needs to be flashed by CWM and i get TWRM installed. How can i change TWRP to CWM. Can this video helps to work? Should i got softbricked with this video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDah3BWrK0o Best manual for change TWRP to CWM please? Thanks for helping, have a nice day
I can't get my GT-N7100 to boot any Android 7.1 custom rom.
I used to install lots of roms earlier like Android 5,6 custom roms, then I went back to rooted stock again a few months ago.
Recently I tried to install Android 7.1 with the traditional steps: wiping everything (system/data/cache/dalvik/internal storage) then I install the rom and gapps, but I couldn't get any rom to boot. They all stuck on the rom boot logo playing without proceeding to the rom itself. Yet, when I restore my twrp backup of the stock rom it works fine.
I even tried to install android 6 yet it didn't boot as it used to do before, the same logo stuck thing happens without any progress.
Any idea how to fix that ? what could be the reason behind that ?
Should I reinstall a stock rom and re-root it again?
I can't find a good reason for what I have regarding that problem.
I have: GT-N7100 with the following:
OS: wesam.othman ROM 4.4.2 stock rooted rom.
Recovery: twrp 3.0.2
Kernel: AGNi pureSTOCK N7100
Boot loader version: N7100XXUEMJ5
SD Card: 32 GB
I'm using a script that swaps storage so I have nothing on my device internal storage.
Thanks in advance.
Fixed by doing the following:
Installing an original 4.1.2 stock unrooted rom.
re-rooting again using cf auto root.
installing custom recovery
installing a 4.4.2 modem
then finally installing the 7.1 rom
