My phone goes silent by itself
And by silent I mean the volume is all the way up, but the bell sign has a cross on it...
So I don't hear incoming calls or messages.
I don't understand how this option even works because there is no way of manually doing It that I figured out.
Need help.
It happens in two nexus 5x i have and on the old nexus 5
System in 6.0.1

The widget on the lower right corner is something I just installed a few days ago trying to fix the problem, but it didn't and it is not the cause of the problem of course.

I have Google Apps and am trying to ring my device remotely while its set to vibrate. It rings once at full volume then stops (its supposed to ring for five minutes at full volume). If I call my phone it makes a quick chirp and then goes into silent mode from vibrate (its supposed to stay at full volume). Can someone please test theirs?

Works fine for me.
In working with Google, the resolution was:
Paid Google Apps should use: https://www.google.com/apps/mydevices
Regular Android Consumers: https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager
Using the Google Apps link all the functionality works great.
It did the same thing for me. One ring at full volume, then fell back to silent.
The Google ID i have tied to this phone is my personal one, so I can only use the "Regular Android Customers"
Working fine here.
My wife uses the HTC One on T-Mobile, and we see this behavior on her phone as well. I don't remember my One on Verizon having this issue, but in fairness I never tried it until after I flashed CM 10.2. Anyway, it's not specific to the Verizon edition. Whether that's comforting or not, I can't say.

Same here. Rings once, then unable to trigger again. Not sure what the retry threshold is supposed to be.
Just tested it with my Note3 and it does the same, rings only once no matter if the phone is set to vibrate or not. Although it seems to track it fine even though I'm indoors.
But I already had the chance to put this to good use a few weeks ago to find my father's S3. He called one evening upset and said he thinks he lost his phone on the golf course somewhere. I started to get mad at myself for not having installed one of the tracker apps on his phone. It was already near dark and we have heavy dew that would have ruined the phone overnight. So I called Verizon and asked if there was anything we could do. The rep asked if he had a Google account setup on the phone and whether or not GPS was on. I said yes to both and he instructed me how to login at Google.com and track the phone with Android Device Manager. It worked perfect. It pin-pointed the phone of the golf course and my father and I went to retrieve it. It was really dark by then and I was using my phone, signed into his Google account, to see the map. We went to where the map indicated the phone was but still didn't see it even with flashlights. So I clicked the ring option and we heard his ringtone clearly in the quiet darkness. It was less than 10 feet from where we were looking and it was lying face down it thick grass. Had it not been for the ringer, we may have overlooked it and just assumed the mapped location wasn't very accurate.
So that story had a happy ending and at least the ring option worked on the S3, but it still only rings once on my Note3. And when I immediately click the ring option a second time it doesn't ring at all. If I wait 30secs to a minute and try it again, it will ring but only once. My father had a song ringtone on his S3 and I just have one of the default ringtones on my Note3. Wonder if that makes a difference? Will have to test it sometime.
Also I'm curious to see if the device tracker will work well with GPS turned off? The rep asked me if GPS was turned on, and I knew my father gets good battery life and just leaves his GPS, Bluetooth, and WiFi on. I was so excited to see it track the phone that I forgot to ask if it would work with the GPS turned off. The battery on the Note3 also lasts about 2 days even with GPS and Wifi on, so I'm planning on leaving GPS on just in case.
So, with a Galaxy Note 5, just updated to Marshmallow 6.0.1, I can't get it to ring at all (didn't try with 5.1.1).

Yes it is.
One thing I've noticed with this phone, that I don't remember experiencing on previous Nexus/Android experiences, is an annoying "Boop!" tone that happens right as you hit the red button to end a call. I've been digging around in settings and can't find a way to get rid of this tone.
Any of you know a way to turn this off?
I haven't noticed the beep yet (takes on the phone less than an hour ago too).
Anyway, it's probably audio_end.ogg located in
/system/media/audio
Once you have located it, delete or rename it then reboot.

You brilliant, brilliant human! That did it. Thanks!
Isn't that noise the other party hanging up before you do? I believe that's the only time it happens? Now I can't remember.... Either way you have fixed it

Nope. It even happens if you call someone and then hang up before they answer. It drove me nuts but now it's fixed.
Hi,
From time to time, my friends inform me that they have called me and I haven't call them back!
No incoming phone calls, no missed calls, no nothing!!! It happens some times. I was not sure what the problem was until I lost my phone at home. I called it once... I was hearing the tone on the phone, but my phone was not ringing!!! After finding it... there was no missed call !!
My phone is on the latest 6.0.1 update, it is unrooted and bootloader is locked! I rarely use data so it is off all the time I am not using the phone. WiFi is always off. When not using it, I put it in power saving mode. I don't know if the power saving mode is the culprit or not.
I have seen that this has happened to other phones like Nexus 5. I have read that a quick fix for this is to change the preferences from LTE to 3g but I don't know if this works on Nexus 5x or not!
Does anyone else have this problem?
I have the same issue - randomly some calls go straight to voicemail. This is very difficult to test as there doesn't seem to be any consistent rule to it.
Which network carrier do you have? Fi?

Hi, i had the same problem yesterday, after flashing a new rom and gapps, i think beacuse the android dialer goes in conflict whit google dialer...try reflashing stock rom if you are on custom or do a factory reset and try other rom.
This sounds really stupid but anyone else having a problem with the ringtone you select staying? I select a ringtone and then verify but every time I get my first call after it goes to dumb Verizon airwaves ringtone. My notification tones stick like normal. Just really getting annoying.
Thanks
Never had that problem ....

Yeahp i had it...seemed to have stopped tho.
I'm still having the problem with the ringtone not staying. Still reverts the VZW Airwaves after first call. I checked to see if I disabled an app to cause this and struck out there. I'm wondering if its do not disturb. I keep it on always and only let contacts call.

Hopefully someone will chime in with why it's happening. Ive run out of ideas.
I saw that someone did a factory reset that solved the issue
Any news?

Mine is still happening. I've been busy working but I may try a factory reset. My phone started bootlooping this morning when I got home from work and put it on the charger. Restarted like 6 times. Lots of bugs
I'm still not having any issues, well except this

I had this issue at first. Do you have ES File explorer? Mine was borked because of that. So i had to disable that from being default. Then it still wasn't working for my SMS only text tone so I switched from Hangouts to Google Messenger, changed the tone then switched back to Hangouts.
When I was doing that Hangouts had the right text tone selected but that wasn't what played. So i used "SMS" as default SMS account vs my Gmail then switched it back the be more organized and it worked. Haven't tried changing tone since so idk if thats needed each time

I'd again verify your not going through a file explorer menu and thats its not the default app. Instead system explorer

Okay good to hear. I'm just going to wait and deal with it since I will be exchanging for a new device. Thanks again for letting me know.
No problem
Been having this same issue on my replacement Note 7, (ringtone never switched to default on my original Note 7). I used Samsung cloud to restore some settings on my replacement Note 7 and that could be the culprit.
I really do not want to do a factory reset as I just spent a ton of time setting my phone back up this week.
I moved the ringtone from SD card to internal to see if that would fix it from reverting. Will see...
I had the issue on my original defective Note 7. Not having it on my new one.

Maybe unrelated, but are you using any kind of audio volume manager? Some of them (like AudioManager Pro) will store ringtone information, so when you toggle modes, the ringtone comes along for the ride (reverting one that you may have manually selected).
I put a brand new ringtone on my internal drive Ringtone folder yesterday and when I turned on my phone this morning, it had reverted back to the Verizon default ringtone again. Any ideas how to get the ringtone to stick other than a factory reset?
i noticed that when i receive or do a call, in the status bar it displays the do not disturb icon, it never occurred with MM and I'm not sure with 7.0 but i dont remember, I'm the only one? and what that means?

No clue. I don't see why the change was mandatory. I only know of this due to Android Police writing this up earlier today:

It's not a problem if it's an intended feature. The idea is that you don't have alerts, notifications, etc. going off in your ear, speakerphone, car stereo while on a phone call.

Aaaa ok.
clever google
When I initially experienced this feature I thought it was a neat idea. Then it started having problems turning off automatically. Now I find that 25% of the time it just doesn't turn off automatically and I miss notifications as a result. This issue persists though restarts, resets, and two devices so far. Using the 128gb Pixel. I have tried to adjust the DND rules so that I don't miss them. As a result of those changes I made, I can get phone calls but at least Google Voice messages through Hangouts still don't work until I manually turn it off. I don't remember the phone buzzing in my ear on any of the recent phones I have owned.... Even if this was an intended feature, the fact it can't be turned off is causing me to have pay an unusual amount of attention to my phone coming in and out of calls to make sure I'll continue to be reachable.
