after Chimera last night I'm gonna wait on this one a bit... fingers are crossed and hoping it's legit.
Is this working withe the A01J firmware or does it need to be downgraded to AOGG then be flashed?
because i found the same file associated with N920AUCE2APB2 firmware , which is based on mashmallow. So i guess this will be useless for devices with lollipop

It would be awesome if this works..
Instructions unclear...hoping someone gives this a try. Also hoping it's not system-less so we are able to use root apps.

try kingroot can add binary.
Can any one confirm this work on this N920AUCE2APB2 firmware?
I tried it on the firmware just prior to this one. It was not full root. It seemed more of a core root. There was no Su capability. I would not be surprised if it did not work on your current firmware as I believe it to be the security patch for this root method
Check out the about those root files. You can root with the method founds.
Took a cursory look. Seems a bit complicated, but will investigate further when time permits. Thanks for the direction.
Can you provide more directions with the methods involved tried the cmd but kept saying about (missing apk)?. Don't know what that means. Can you assist?

It should be patched in 4.4.
But some (read most) OEMs still can't manage to patch their devices up to the latest security updates on release.
Anyway, I tested this root method a week or so ago and it works nicely

It depends on if OEMs backported it, depends on which build OEMs used and depends on the bug. Four or five different zip parser bugs with similar results. This one I used was patched in 4.3, but other exist.

You don't need to root if you aren't staying on stock. There's no lock anywhere on the bootloader or anything.
Simply flash TWRP in fastboot, then flash Omni (or whatever else) through TWRP.
You should be able to just flash a SuperSU zip in TWRP as well if you want to root the stock ColorOS.

Hello everyone, so AT&T updated my phone and foxfi used to work just fine for hotspot but since Android 4.3 I can't so I need to root. I've seen a few threads in this site on some roots but don't get much info about them. How can I root my GS3 running 4.3? I've never rooted in my life so I'm making sure I do this right the first time . If anyone can please help me get the proper root for my GS3. I'm not wanting all these custom roms and stuff. - Has Anyone had an update to this yet? I am having the exact same issue where several things no longer allow me the permissions I once had. At&t sent out an update that kept popping up on my screen every five minutes for like 2 days so I Finally upgraded and I do not like the new version.
- I am especially ticked that they removed the option to hide Applications now. I use my phone for work and don't need clients and coworkers having easy access to personal apps and data since I collaborate on my phone quite a bit in meetings, plane rides etc.where my phone is passed around. So any new app I try to add also requires root access to do the trick and combined with not being able to use pdanet+ or foxfi to tether I have a big need to root now. I tried to root using GalaxyS3RootATT.zip - which did work on an earlier version of 4.2 but only ended up wiping my phone after the 4.3 update (i think this was the 2nd update for the same OS version 4.3) but it did install super user. However root test fail to show that it is properly rooted. Very Frustating and VERY nervous about Bricking my phone so I want to make sure its done right. Ive only rooted a handful of times every couple of years when I get a new phone and the process seems to change constantly due to so many codes and manufacturers and models and carriers etc.
Anyway please help ASAP. Thanks

The instructions here worked like a charm after I upgraded to 4.3. Rest assured, CF auto root is compatible with the latest firmware. Just be very careful and follow the instructions meticulously.
First time rooter
Sorry if i don't understand whats going on this is the first time rooting for me.
I am trying to root my phone to be able to run 4.4 on it and have followed the steps to root it using odin3 and CF-Auto-Root but once i get back to my home page and try to use superSU I get an error message stating "Unfortunately, SuperSU has stopped." along with "Security information An application attempted to access system on your device without authorization. This attempt has been blocked".
Sorry if this is an easy fix or i left out important information but i would just like some help getting off the gound

You need to install a custom recovery in order to flash a custom ROM. You don't necessarily need root to load a custom ROM. Are you running a stock 4.3 ROM?

The 4.3 OTA installs Knox without checking if you want it or not. Fortunately there are ways to remove it after the fact. Most suggestions I have seen recommend using CF-AutoRoot, updating SuperUser, and then going into SuperUser to disable Knox. You don't need root to install custom ROMs but as far as I know you need it to remove Knox. Removing Knox seems to be necessary in order to get the custom recovery required to flash custom ROMs.
|Guide|How-To| Root & Install Custom Recovery for 4.3 Update
[CWM][4.2.2/4.3/4.4] DE-SAMSUNGNIZER Script V5.0.0 - Clean all unneded Samsung Crap contains scripts to remove Samsung bloat and others that seem to just remove Knox.
I was about to offer no comment on the ROM to which you linked because it is in the Verizon forum, but then I noticed the d2lte in the description. My understanding is that d2lte is good for all US SGS3 variants. (Gummy says this in it's forum.) Maybe you can get around using a custom recovery with some ROMs, but the Gummy ROM comes as a recovery flashable zip. So, it looks like: root, remove knox, install custom recovery, flash rom.

From reading quite a few ROM threads I have learned that the updater scripts have code that indicates which devices they will work on and will cause the install to fail if you are trying to flash an incompatible ROM to a device. Sometimes these scripts have not been updated to reflect ROM compatibility with devices and editing the updater script will correct this. This is best verified in the ROM thread. Something to check for yourself before posting would be that you are using a compatible ROM version. The d2lte files should work with any of the US variants. If you downloaded one of the older files there is then the need to make sure it works with your device, unless you are confident about editing the script.
Other possible causes of your error:
1) it could be that the zip is on the external_sd and the installer expects it on the internal
2) you have a bad ROM download

Root problem solved
I have an AT&T S3 SGH-i747. The problems I had with rooting was all related to Knox, unfortunately I had no way to get rid of Knox.
Please follow the web link and follow all the steps in order. The short version of the steps is you install the TWRP recovery using Odin, then boot back into recovery , install SuperSU and then Knox removal script via recovery. After that enjoy whatever custom ROM you want. I'm running the KitKat 4.4 now :good:
As a note getting to the correct download link can be a pain due to the bait and switch of the "download now" button with other shareware apps but the links provided to lead you to the correct zip files.

Hello all,
I recently got my hands on a Note 2 running Android 4.3 on the MK6 bootloader. I have done a bit of research, but am still somewhat confused about how to root the phone. If I am correct, I just use Odin to flash this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2589891
Onto the phone to have root access, correct?
Next, if I want to have CWM, I flash this:

If there are any steps I am missing, please let me know. I would like to procede with as much knowledge as possible to avoid bricking the phone. I am aware that doing this will trip the Knox e-fuse, and I am ok with that.
Thanks in advance!

So, today I tried to root my phone, and as soon as I was finished flashing CF Auto Root, Knox blocked the root and said that "Unauthorized access to a secured area has been blocked."
Does that mean I cannot root my phone?

No you're fine. Go to Google Play, Download the Update for SuperSU. Update it, it will pop up a window and ask if you want to disable Knox.
SAY YES !

Thanks for the answer, but there is no option to update SuperSU from Google Play, and I can't uninstall it either.
Is there a direct link where I can download the file to update the SuperSU to disable Knox?

It should say Installed. Click the Installed button, make sure phone is listed. See if it will install from there.

It should say installed. When you click it another window pops up. It should list your phone. Just click install button.
If that does not work go to Application Manager and try and remove it.

Yeah, I clicked the "Installed," but I cannot click on the phone that I have this on, it says already installed
And I can't uninstall it from Appilcation Manager, just "Force Stop" or "Turn Off"
I am very stuck unfortunately ):

Interesting. I've never seen that before. And I really just saw it because mine is doing the same thing.....
Try flashing via ODIN

Or is that the one you did?
EDIT:
I just uninstalled my updates and flashed this. Worked for me.

Agh, still nothing - I can't uninstall SuperSU and flashing did not help; Knox still is working.
Should I just wipe from recovery first?

Whole lotta WTF. I'm now running into the same issue with the Note2_lte_e250_R7. 2 ROM I flashed.
Everything I have tried is not getting root to stick. I will kick it's a$$.
Trying a couple more things. I'll let you know when I succeed.

Superuser installation issues after installing over SuperSU
It seems SuperSU is writing a file that is confusing Superuser installation on stock builds. If you want to install Superuser over SuperSU, you will need to manually remove the /system/etc/.has_su_daemon file.
I have the /system/etc/.has_su_daemon file.l I'm creating a CWM zip to remove it.
Hopefully that's the solution.

And it wasn't ..... I created a flashable zip that deleted them and it didn't work.
But I did kick it's a$$.
Like I said earlier I running the 【ROM】【March 01】【4.3】Note2_lte_e250_R7. 2 . It's a N7105 port for the ATT.
So I knew there was something called a Multitool in the N7105 threads from Dr Ketan.
I flashed that in TWRP, it's an aroma install type flash, so I only choose Root and install Busybox.
Like all of our other flash installs it looked like it completed successfully.
Every flash or ODIN I've done or most today, I've gotten into adb shell and did
ls -l /system/xbin/su. never saw the file.
After flashing root and busybox I finally saw
[email protected]:/ $ ls -l /system/xbin/su
-rwxr-xr-x root root 100452 2008-08-01 05:00 su
Woo Hoo !
Got into phone, ran supersu, still said no binary.
Not sure why I did this really buy I typed su while in adb shell, Supersu window popped up on my phone, I clicked accept and all root stuff is working.
I have no clue why this worked. But it did, for me anyways. Hopefully it'll work for you, Luigi.

Thanks for all the info!
So, let me get this straight:
I don't need the ROM you're running on my phone. What I should do is find the Multitool, flash it via recovery, and root and Busybox. Then, connect my phone to my computer to run adb (which I don't really know how to do, so I'll have to look that up), type in su, and then from there everything should work as normal.
Also, an extra piece of information I forgot to mention earlier that you might find useful: SuperSU does NOT start at all; it just immediately closes when I click the icon, and then the Knox warning comes up. Did this happen for you?

Really have no clue. All I know is it worked for me.
For me SuperSU opened all he way. It told me I didn't have the su binary, do a manually install. Everything I did, did not work until my last post. 99% sure it will work for you.
For ADB use this....
http://four-nineteen.com/veronica/XDA Developers/Nook Tablet/DRIVERs/ADB + Fastboot + Drivers.zip
Unzip and save only the files that start with ADB. Create a directory like ADB under C:\.
Copy all the ADB files to C\ADB
Go to command prompt in windows, cd to c:\adb directory (whatever you created)
Type adb devices. Make sure it has a device listed
C:\xUltimate-v2.4.2\jar>adb devices
List of devices attached
8675309JennieJennie device
If so, type adb shell
C:\xUltimate-v2.4.2\jar>adb shell

Just found something else that works.... I've tried it also.
Flash the AGNI kernel. (Awesome addition to a ROM)
https://app.box.com/s/9wlk6y1o50gbhmhvjp2u
Credit to @mjohnson4580 for fix.
Then flash the root update.
http://download.chainfire.eu/382/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.93.zip
See what that does.
Here's info in the kernel

I tried adb shell on the phone terminal didn't work.
Must it be done on the computer?
IF this works please tell us step by step; it's really confusing.
Edit:
After this flash too I noticed my wifi doesn't act right... I have to keep putting in the password.

Hey I odin flashed back to stock because this "Systemless Root" not what we were looking for to replace true root. . . I even tried the real "Root" which after doing so you can't reboot & it got stuck in the recovery because not supposed to reboot... So I guess we just wait for a better hack to come along because this hack sucks ass.
I used this to odin back http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s6-edge-plus/general/g928a-odin-restore-files-t3214359

Your bootloader need to be unlocked and there must be enough free space in your internal sdcard.

I might be able to help. Hmmm, so whenever you get a bootloop just remove super su. There is a zip for that. Also search for XDA forums of huawei p8 lite and in the general section you might find instructions on rooting with twrp. That TWRP is different but I believe that the Super su files are identical and if that's the case then you should follow the instructions given. Keep in mind this is just an idea and it's your risk.

Here is a link. Now if you have twrp this should work. Again I just speculate and be careful. The OP there has written in what order to install those files and again your risk. Fff I just had to write this down since you were struggling.
