Rooted tar file available? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note5

As posted by @maheshwar, there is a rooted tar file available for $50 on this website... Anyone else see this or attempt it? It's tempting to me if it is legit..

well, looks like some people are paying for it...hopefully someone here

If I was able to risk the possible bricking of my phone I would try it but I unfortunately can't. Really curious about this though. Hoping someone can weigh in on this.

That's really interesting... I Mean he's using the N920A.. And the Samsung Tool box(I think) he's using says it granted super user rights..I just wish I knew what he was saying and how to get root since it seems, at least from the video I watched, the device was already rooted it and he was unlocking it.

Apparently this website (https://chimeratool.com/) (paid) now added support for the ATT note 5 aswell.

Yea i've seen them, many are having problems because almost everyone is on the new A0J1 firmware (OTA) samsung pushed mid september. And seems that chimera tool uses a custom boot IMG that was built on AOGG firmware the (factory default)[Theorizing], not 100% sure. But, i think downgrading and then running through the tool might resolve some problems.

It still doesn't work, I actually used Odin to downgrade to COGG and then tried to root using the tool, So it successfully "roots" but in the process I lost my IMEI and according to another person on here the tool is useless as it's not the "root" the end user is looking for. I verified this using root checker and it comes back without root. Ended up Going back to the latest firmware with ODIN.

Hello,
I write from Germany and I've read this HERE. Is this true? Is Kingo root really dangerous? Is there any alternative root for LG G Pad?

Rooting isn't the problem. This works fine. I know. But what is with grabbing/spy and other sensitive data? That's the question. I've read that personal data be spied by a china server.
Please read my link.
Two quotes from my link:
I can confirm that something unknown/suspicious is being uploaded to your PC on running the android root.exe file. The IP address (hex) corresponds to a website/location in ZH (China) (whois). My antivirus and firewall blocked it out, and the programme halted on my PC, and I couldn't root my mom's New Samsung galaxy trend duos. I uninstalled the app & thank goodness I was running the file sandboxed.....caveat emptor everyone......

Bumping this thread to clear some things up:
The tool isn't allowed on the forums right now, we're still working out some issues with them. Biggest issue being sending sensitive data unencrypted to their servers in China and grabbing the IMEI with no apparent reason. When that is solved the whole issue will be reassessed.

I would hope it is clean... You can always try the G2 root method to see if it works, they are very similar.
btw questions go in the Q&A section not the general... that is why it exists

It does work, if you look here you will see that a lot of people had success with it.
Although the exe seems clear, the problem is that it requires permission from my firewall to connect to internet and download additional drivers(?). This is definitely suspicious as they could had been included in the exe. And as a user said it tries to connect to some ip that is chinese. I wanted to root my lg g pad using kingo but i had seen the thread you mention and as xda doesnt support this app i ll wait till they find a way to unlock bootloader and install a custom recovery.
I will wait too. That's for me also too suspicious.

Nope , no one has tested it and i dont have my g pad yet. The G2 and G Pad are very similar as far as OS
But if you are worried about kingo even though no one has had any issues with their g pad then dont root. I will take my chances when i get mine if there are not alternative methoda.

I updated the root thread with a little warning. I would recommend restoring to stock and then try rooting that way you have nothing in your data to be stolen (besides the IMEI). I hope someone will be brave enough to try the other root method from the G2 so we don't risk anything... anyone try it yet? (from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448887)
If someone can confirm it to work I will update the root thread with that root method. I would try but I do not have the G pad yet

[ROOT] Very Simple E980 root after E98010p update

This is so awesome but I can't post links so....
...wait for it!!!
I can post it on my own web site tho: free-press dot us
I copied this from your site.
How To ROOT the Optimus G Pro E-980
after installing the latest update to E98010p
1. Install the drivers if you have not done so yet from http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-E980 (under Software Update tab)
2. Install this program (Kingo Android Root) from download.com: http://download.cnet.com/Kingo-Android-Root/3000-2094_4-75996768.html
Notes: You get a download.com installer initially. I was offered two programs I would never use so I declined those and got the actual program from the installer. Nothing was forced so don't freak out. The actual program is 22.5mb.
3. Open the Kingo program after install.
4. Put your phone in USB Debugger mode and connect it to your PC.
5. Select "Install PC Software" on your phone popup and let the Kingo program do its job.
6. The program will attempt root in Odin mode at first and fail and will then automatically use the correct mode and succeed.
Once the program completes you will have rooted your LG Optimus G Pro with "SuperSU" installed. Very simple. Next step is to install a Recovery.
I tried to post this on XDA but I don't have 10 posts so I gave up there. I go there often for solutions and new information but rarely post, but people seemed to be struggling with this and I thought I should give something back. Someone with link posting power can repost this to the forum if you want but please give me some credit for finding this on YouTube. Thanks!!!
Sent from my LG-E980 using xda app-developers app

I just installed it and the program worked as promised, thanks man

I'm gonna take a stab at this and say Freegee will still be required for installing recovery(CWM)?

FreeGee will put the lokified version of the recovery on your phone, which is needed since the bootloader is still locked
Can you tell me, or anyone can tell me, why Rom Manager doesn't work? It says it has Loki support but when I try to use it I get the android with the red symbol denoting it can't boot into recovery. I'm just curious.

Not sure....
I've read that Kingo and vroot are malicious root programs that might be sending IMEI info to Chinese servers. Then, supposedly other phones can be set up with your credentials. I don't have any way to verify if the aforementioned is true, but I'm just passing it along...
Maybe a web search of vroot and Kingo are in order.....
If that is true, and I'm not saying it is or isn't, I'm sure a web search on the matter could tell you what to look for. Such as hidden malicious apps installed, etc. It would be a prudent move to check into it but nothing to panic over until and/or unless there is some truth to it. Just my 2 cents on the matter....lol
---------- Post added at 02:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:02 PM ----------
Just because you brought it up Andy, I went into all my settings and apps. This method DOES install an app in your phone. I probably should have wrote down the app info before I removed it but I forgot to. it's not rocket science to figure it out on your own though. You see a blue icon with some Chinese writing on it. I went ahead and removed it from my phone just to be safe. But chances are IF this app is sending ANY data to a foreign server, it has done so already because it's been in my phone for a few hours already before I noticed it.
I did read online about the uploading of IMEI numbers but ONLY to build a database from but that feature has since been removed because of the concerns it raised.
Worked fine for my LG Optimus G Pro E980. I also ran Malware Bytes afterwards and found no malware, then I ran CM Security and the only thing I found was an sms fake phishing vulnerability which I am almost sure didn't come from the root process.
So just want to verify on this software is working for E980 10p update? Has anyone else found 10p root method to work without reflashing.? I am almost tempt to hold out on 4.4 OTA update coming for my phone.

I've never worried about the 'warranty voided' stories. If software could physically damage a device then the device is poorly made. I had three different rooted Samsung that failed due to the 'sudden death syndrome'. They were all fixed under warranty. Never heard of anyone having problems with warranty on a rooted device - only urban myths!

Not with my rooted phones - any that died or had faults have always been fixed under warranty - going right back to the 'Hero'. If I buy a brand name Windows PC, wipe the hard disk and install Linux, the manufacturer still has to honour their hardware warranty under EU law. Same with mobiles/phones/tablets.
Maybe North American consumer protection laws are not as good as those here in Europe.
For instance, in the EU we can return anything we buy via mail order for a full refund within 14 days for any reason under the 'distance selling' regulations. Goods bought in shops or via mail order also have to be of 'merchantable quality'. As it currently stands, EU customers could obtain a full refund for the LG G3 as it does not work reliably with the Google Chromecast. This is probably why Samsung fixed a similar problem with a software patch when some of their devices had the same problem.

We can't get it until samsung releases firmware. There are quite a few threads on this already. I am waiting for it also. Just keep checking back we will get it sooner or later.

Have you found the firmware for this device or has it still not been posted yet? Also, where can I look for it at? I'm assuming it is a website that has all of the firmwares listed for every Samsung device. Unfortunately, i cant remember the name at the moment and Ill kick myself when you say it or if someone else posts it, for not remembering something so often i used to go to. However, I was in the hospital for a couple months for M.R.S.A. and that sucked. Im finally out of there but 2 months out of the loop with this field is like several years missing information in the technology world! So, what site was this posted on again?

so where is it? lol idk where it is bc i haven't yet seen it on SamMobiles site. when i enter the nomenclature it doesn't come up with any files for SM-T807P ! for the love of god please someone tell me so i can extract the file needed so we can get moving on this wonderful 4G LTE Sprint Samsung Tab S 10.5" Tablet i need a root for! Must have RooT...
so, does this mean that since this hasn't even been posted yet anywhere, completed, or done yet that considering this is the first step to development and achieving root, im also guessing people need this file to even start to begin making/developing the ROMs right? which probably means then there isnt/arent any even available as of yet and/or let alone a stock Rom/Custom ROMs for this particular device either is there? yes? no? if the answer is yes, then awsome cool where can i find any of them! if the answer is no, there arent any stock or custom ROMs available yet then my response is BoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooFREAAAAKKKKKIN Hisssssssssssssss 2 thisss maaaaaaaan! Bc this device has been out almost a year now and how can we begin development already on this thing! Is there anyway i can do it on my own? does someone have directions or a link to manually rooting IE the first way where we make the ADB command lines then type the next command to manually root the old fashioned way or what?! bc ill do it on my own if i have to!!!!! someone lead the way to the right direction(s) and im on it! might take some time but thats how i rooted my first smart phone the HTC EVO supersonic 31600. i know we use odin for samsung but what are the steps to get this ball moving?! if no one else is going to do it id like to try at least. anyone send me a link pls ? where do i start?

Right here. samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-T807P now can you upload the latest one to mega upload or mediafire? Then I can perhaps extract whats needed but still may take a while as beans or chainfire hasnt been porting cfautoroot to some devices. I could try to preroot it, but it may not work.
Root for SM-T807P
I got tired of waiting around for CF-Auto-Root to come out with a package so I made my own. It's all based off the CF-Auto-Root that I modified using another device that uses the same chip as the T807P.
I am in the process of testing it. So far I've come up with one bug which causes the DHCP wifi loop, but it was an easy fix. Once you have root access just change the permissions on the /system/etc/dhcpcd/dhcpcd-run-hooks file to "execute" by "user" "group" and "others" by using a root file explorer. It fixes the "obtaining ip address loop" for wifi.
All the standard legal stuff like - I am not responsible if you brick your device or if the root doesn't work.
Here is the link to the file I used with Odin to flash the CF-Auto-Root for my T807P.

How did you modify the stuff/exactly what did you do in cfautoroot? I tried myself but didn't know what else to do. I would love to learn! (I dont own a 807p so but I have always wondered how) Thanks!

CF-Auto-Root

S6 CF-Auto-Roots are available from the repository at http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/ !
Nice, looking forward for it
Will test as soon as my device arrives.
I am afraid of this statement:
Before actually rooting though, consider that KNOX will likely be tripped, and there's a good chance untripped KNOX will be required for phone based payments.

As samsung pay is a feature I could use frequently. At the same time, I can't live without apps that requires root access to run.

Can someone that has a T-Mobile S6 please test this?! If so, then I honestly might not root my S6 -_- unless someone comes up with a way to not trip Knox.
The s6 is out now?
No, but there are enough engineers at service centers, distributors, inside Samsung itself, who already have one, leak the necessary files, and test the roots, for this to be available already.
thank you chainfire you do the best for all users

Hiya CF.
Awesome work!
Me=Big Fan.
Silly question. I just per-ordered a T-Mobile GS6 Edge (128). I would very much like to root it. If you could, would you link the correct download from your repository for this particular Phone/Model?
Thanks,
-NJ
Does this require wipe? Bootloader unlock?
What is the model number of the S6 (Tmobile) if any one knows?

Can confirm the model number. Guess root isn't available yet. Not used to using browser without adblock
Not working here either. I just received my T-Mobile GS6 today and I can't get it to apply the root. Odin just keeps failing.
Could it be the out-of-the-box OTA we received? Or was this ever actually working?

It's the ota we received. The build id of the software we have doesn't match what chain fire has posted on his site. Wait for him to update

Ya I tried it before then went ahead and took the update. l remembered much people saying samsung/tmobile usual sends a update at launch that improves things so wanted to get that out the way.
