I have got a cracked lens cover, I have removed it awaiting New cover from eBay however without the lens cover on the camera does not focus on distance objects only close up. Could this be due to having no lens cover or is the camera broken. Any advice on what action I should take to get it repaired?
Replace the lens and all will be good. Be careful not to get any dust trapped in there.

Excellent, any advice on lens cover. Currently ordered cheap one from China via eBay
Buy a tech21 case and make sure the lens is the right way round before attempting to permanently attach it.

Is it obvious which is the right way or not

I am having lots of scratches on camera lens... Initially I ignored them but now they are affecting the image quality as I am having problems recently... Now has anyone got their camera lens replaced from HTC under warrenty? How is the new lens, is it the same one? Is the unibody design gonna be a problem here? Need some feedback guys, and let me know how much HTC charged you... Thank you in advance...

Yeah the glass not the lens actually, can you please link me...
If I'm not mistaken the outer lens was housed on the case. I afraid you have replace the uni-body casing just for lens substitution. Remember someone posted here that he managed to buy case. Yes. It is in one piece..

How much did it cost? Is it available at HTC service centre?
Not this is a help to you now, but once you get it replaced, do what I did, I bought one of the fairly inexpensive screen protectors they sell, and cut a round piece to cover the glass to avoid exactly that, and it doesnt degrade the quality of the picture at all, this way you can have one sheet for countless amounts as covers, at least this way if the screen cover gets scratched you can just replace it with another pre-cut one, I have one sheet that made about 25 covers for the lens. Just a thought. HTC should have really recessed the glass to avoid this, or like previous models be able to pop the glass out cause the camera lens is recessed from harm.
here you go with required tools, just bought from them as spare part didn't install it but looks original and good quality with the lens cover integrated with the housing

Hello Everybody
I am too in the same boat.
I have bought a used HTC One X (AT&T) mobile phone.
The previous owner of the mobile phone have clearly stated that he bumped on a table which damaged the camera lens.
I assumed the lens or lens cover be easily replaceable.
But it appears to be not the case.
Anybody shed some light on the same ?
Also please check these links

Can't i just replace the lens by purchasing the above items?

Replace the body of the phone.
i did it last week, changed my HoX Grey to a HoX White
only cost me $50,- (which is 39 euro's for me :victory: )
bought the case from e-bay with free shipping.
The cheap screenprotector film is a great idea, gonna try that as well!
Can't we just replace the lens cap alone ?
It is available in eBay as separate piece .

Looks to me as if thats just the rim around the camera
The Bezel/Lens is sold as separate pieces...and cheap!
If anyone figures out how to just change the bezel\lens, and not have to go through the trouble/expense of replacing the entire body, let me know.

Hi everyone, is there any camera protection available on the internet or someting? My One X is quite damaged because I use a cheap case and it scratches the sides of my phone But when I don't use it anymore my camera will touch all surfaces, so I was curious if there is something to fix that
Thanks so far
Probably not...?

I cut a piece from a generic screen protector and put it on the camera lens, didn't effect quality at all.
I'll let you know how the Best Skins Ever is in a few days when it arrives
That would be great if you do!
I my self is a bit forced to have my phone in a punch, hate scratches and already have one on the lens My screen protector is noisy like noise on a picture, thats why I am a bit skeptical to have a screen protector on the lens.

Just an FYI for those worried about your camera lenses; scratches will not show in pictures or effect picture quality unless they are severe. Micro scratches or even regular scratches are imperceivable unless the camera is using a very narrow aperture. Given that the One X has an F2.0 lens, that just isn't an issue.
Conversely, putting ANYTHING infront of the camera lens is going to have an effect on IQ.

That's what I did (you can also use a hole puncher) and I don't have any quality issues, as a matter of fact I have no scratches on it and had it for a while now.

My case sticks out just a bit further than the camera, so it's when i set the phone down on hard surfaces. This seems like the best protection to me if you worry about image degradation due to a layer of plastic on top of the lens.
I've been thinking about this for some time. I tried to try a bit of generic sbreen cover but it bubbled up. I love the idea of a hole punch though will try that tonight
maybe buy an otterbox defender it protects everything not only the camera
i just love it
you can even throw your phone if u want to or open beer bottles with it no problem
greets
I just removed the glass bit when I soldered the wifi connection. I've found this to be a great solution because it also helps to cool the chip that gets hot during gaming. I've had no problems in three months now.
I've been using the official htc case and haven't had any problems. The plastic on the back protrudes a bit further than the lens so it provides plenty of protection against table surfaces etc
That said, even if you do manage to severely damage the lens, it looks like a pretty simple matter to simply swap out the lens and put a new one in. Plenty of places to buy spare parts, and the lenses aren't particularly expensive. Though it would probably be safer to change the entire housing as I don't know how well the adhesive on the inside of the case would work after being removed and replaced.

Hey there fellow Z1S users, I just received my Nillkin glass screen protector for the L39U which I can confirm does indeed fit the T-Mobile Z1S
One thing to keep in mind when installing, is you only have ONE chance and it fits EXACT so do your BEST to align it CORRECTLY, thank you for viewing and good luck installing
As seen in the photo, (sorry for the blurry ness, used another z1s to take pictures and macro isn't very glamorous lol) it barely adds any thickness to the phone

Looking good, although I have to argue that I have personally taken off the glass protector around two or three times to readjust it, carefully prying it off, however, it's probably a better idea to get it right the first time, unlike me.

It may fit physically to the dimensions and shape but the holes don't line up properly for the camera lens for the front facing camera. It covers the lens and has an opening to the side for what I guess is a sensor. The L39U is a Chinese market model and not the same as the C6916 which is for T-mobile only and has only been sold in the US market.
We ordered this same one from Amazon and have requested return processing because it's not made for the Z1S
Did you just cover your camera lens with the clear plastic and ignore the hole placement?

what, i think you bought a knockoff sold for the l39h trying to be sold as a l39u version, i don't have holes at all for the front facing camera for the l39u nillkin and the cut out for the sensor is a perfect exact fit. I bought mine off ebay from either this seller http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nillkin-9H-...361?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e87e0b0c9
or i think most likely it was this guy
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NILLKIN-Ant...488?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a8e4e64f0
oh nvm.... LOL yeah there is no holes for the cameras, i didn't read your post correctly, and the camera functionality works fine, and i still have the original asf film on, though this is my second z1s because my first one was stolen without the asf, i'd recommend taking off the asf if yours is scratched up badly
This is the second Galaxy Note 4 I purchased with dust under the back camera lens cover. I gently took the second Note 4 out of the box and immediately checked the back camera with a loupe under the right light. Sure enough, the same type of skin dust is under the lens cover sitting right on top of the lens... same as the first GNote4 I bought and returned. Both of them came from AT&T as brand new devices.
Do you think these are returned items or do they come like this straight from the factory or even from the AT&T factory? This is crappy for such an expensive high-end phone.
Is there any way to fix it without making the issue worse? Otherwise I'll have to return this one too. Perhaps the third time will be a charm. This is unacceptable.
Thanks for your advice.
Just a simple question since you said you immediately looked at it after taking it our of the box:
Did you remove the protective plastic from over the lens? It is hard to see and and the phone takes great pictures even with on (not as good as when it is off but still not noticeable if you are not aware).

Thanks. That's the first thing I looked at since my last Note 4 had the same issue. Yes, I was aware of the protective plastic but I was looking through the hole. I did take it off anyway and it was still there below the glass lens cover sitting right on top of the actual lens.
I was not aware you could take great photos with the protective plastic still in place.
I was wondering if there's anything I can do to fix this? HERE in the 5th post down, this guy says he looked at 5 Note 4's and each one had dust under the lens cover.
Thanks.
Edit, I just added a photo of the lens. This is supposedly a BRAND NEW GN4 just out of the box.. You can see the dust sitting right on top of the lens and there's finer dust around the sides or bellows. This all looks like skin particles.
That photo looks like it still has the plastic on it.
See the plastic?
Thanks. I should have taken the photo with the lens protector off to avoid confusion. Like I said, I removed the plastic protector and the dust was still there below the glass and on top of the actual lens and around the bellows.
I just ordered an exchange for a new device. If the 3rd one comes with dust sitting right on top the actual lens, I will return it and buy something different. I had a Sony Ericsson K790A for about 7 years. and there still is not even one spec of dust under the lens glass.
This is a picture of my fiance camera.

That camera lens looks dust free. Although, is that a spec on the lens? I see two reflections and one spec. Could be all reflections, Thanks
Replaced it for another one.... this one is MUCH better.
Hi guys I need to replace the lens on my G4, I have found only those that are generic ones made of plastic. I guess this degrade the picture quality by a lot.. Any recommendations on where to buy one that will not degrade the quality, preferably LG genuine.
Thanks.
THIS is the one i can find. The only other way to is to replace the phone
You can check on ebay also, you can find a lot.

I bought some times for Galaxy S6 but hopefully did not break G4 lens glass yet
Thanks guys, decided to polish the lens using my dual action polisher ( the one I use to polish my car) and now my lens is like new, it was a bit hazy and with some scratches. So I will not need to change it!

I took the lens cover off mine altogether because I couldn't get it crystal clear. I couldn't tell whether it was made out of glass or plastic. I guess it's plastic which would be prone to scratching.
Watch THIS and it Might help
Basically the Lens is plastic sadly

Sorry for replying such an old post. But I'm curious, how did you do that? what's the backing plate size, foam type, and compound/polish product? I'm a bit familiar with it too and seems line my G4 lens need some "love".
