wifi is always on in background marshmallow - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guyz Im on Viper One 5.0.2 rom marshmallow I have download gsam battery monitor and it says my wifi is always and it keeps ticking up, I already wifi during sleep change it to only when plug in and there is no option that always scan for google location i think? I only check the wifi optimization so now I dont know why it keeps always on although I already turned it off

Mine does the same as well. I'm thinking it's kernel related tbh. But I'm sure someone can chime in with more knowledge than me.

Allshare cast hub. Anyone get it working?

There's one of these threads in every carrier specific Note 2 forum. I've looked at all the other ones and followed the instructions to a T. Anyone get this working?

Yep just gave it a try all is good.
Hopefully someone can figure out how to make it work on rooted device with custom flashed rom.
App reads flash count before starting , if flash value reads 1 Allshare becomes Noshare
You got it working? Man, I seriously tried for an hour to get it working. I must be doing something wrong =/

Yep.
Try it again but this time select help tab on allshare screen follow directions to the T.
Oh and also make sure wifi on device is disabled before getting started.

Turned the wifi off and it actually worked! Thanks sling!
No problem.
With Sprints version there was no need to turn off wifi first so I'm thinking its a bug that Samsung needs to address on are build.
When connected and you try youtube - anything data related a pop up will display letting you know wifi will be enabled allshare needs to restart.
Let it do its thing connection will re-establish .
Wow, this thing really does not work well. Wifi turns on by itself randomly and when it's on, i can't reconnect.

Ha I figured it out.
Simply Start Allshare app using pulldown Toggle.
Doing it that way will allow for app start when wifis already enabled no more crash will be had
Hmm it works intermittently for me. Hopefully the next software update will change that
Hmm I was never able to get it to work. Not with my note2 or s3. I'm starting to think maybe I have a bad dongle.
One question when you press the reset button on the dongle and the indicator light turns blue does it stay blue or does it turn back to red pretty quickly?

Wi-Fi Not shutting off and keeping phone awake?

Despite checking off Never, my phone is keeping Wi-Fi active and the phone isn't sleeping. Is there a way to fix this glitch? Also despite having an airave at home, my device shows constantly under the battery setting that i have no mobile signal. This is possibly making the phone search for signal, and explains why it often find a weird roaming signal. Anyone know any fixes?

U might have that sprint optimization enable disable it should be under mobile network settings

Yep, what this guy said.
It was bugging me for a while too, not sure if its a feature of 4.1.x Android, but my understanding is if the device senses a Wi-Fi connection it turns on the radio and might ask you to try to configure. At the office, while driving, etc etc.

Ive disabled it countless times... it turns itself back on. There are other tiny little hickups Im having. The first device was flawless until an App Installation went corrupt and ruined it... Now I actually have a minor dud. Gotta try for "third times a charm"...

I just noticed that too. It does, or seems to want to turn itself back on. Pretty lame of Sprint to do this if you ask me.

It is a feature of the OTA Samung update that put your device to LJC .. After you installed the update whether it was Automatic over the air or even manually once you device said Update installation successful then a box was up that you had to hit "Ok" and it was the box that read about the new Sprint Optimization option.
So, if you have the wifi on in the house it still causes a problem? Or is this an issue when you are out and have the wifi off, and it still searches for wifi location no matter what killing the battery?

[Q] MOAR wifi question

Benn running MOAR v2.2 for a few days and love it. But I've noticed something when wifi is turned on. If I'm on the wifi settings screen, I can see it scanning about every 5-6 seconds for new wifi signals, even though I'm signed into my home router with a good signal.
Network notification is turned off. I'm running the stock kernel.
Couldn't find anything in the moar thread about this.
Wondering if it's just me or if others also have this happening but just haven't noticed? Because you wouldn't know unless you're on the wifi settings screen with wifi turned on.
Can anyone verify this?
Any ideas on how to make it stop constantly scanning?

Well, this has nothing to do with your rom or kernel...thats just how the wifi is implemented. And you cant turn it off, unless you want to use wifi at all that is, this is to make sure you still have wifi access and to update the wifi networks that show up listed
You can make the scan interval longer by setting the "wifi_supplicant_scan_interval" (or something along those lines) to a higher value in your build.prop (located at /system/build.prop)

Thanks for the reply.
I also eventually found the answer by searching (of course), and the moment I found it, I had a horrible thought. OMG did I get a furry little animal killed?

I've been doing tons of reading here and I've seen some devs saying, "every time someone asks a question that could have been answered by searching, a cute furry animal dies." lol
Reminded me of an old National Lampoon cover with a picture of a dog with a gun to it's head. Next to the picture it said "If you don't buy this magazine, we'll kill this dog!" One of the best covers of any magazine EVER. I cant post pics yet but google that phrase and you can see it.

problem with app wifi tether router

OK so here's what's going on the app works great but when I turn it off everything on the phone that it's installed on says it's off the app says it's disabled the process is gone from running processes but somehow it's still broadcasting because even with it off all my other devices still see it and they try to connect but fail
Now if I reboot after turning the app off everything is fine see the problem is if I don't reboot after turning the app off I get a massive battery drain. I was wondering if anyone else had this app installed and are having the same issue here is a link to a video that I made showing what's going on its on a zip file just so I could upload it faster please take a look and tell me what you think could be going on
I've emailed the developer but he doesn't know what's happening and why anyway here's the link

Hello Rob
I am also having the same issue with D855 international version with 10e Europe firmware and Wifi Tether Router app.
The turnaround action I am using is to go to the "recent apps" (button in the botton of home screen) and close the Wifi tether app window. Doing that, the wifi signal is gone. So I do not need to reboot.
Hope this "solution" can help you a little. But of course it would be better if the dev fis that in the app.
regards,
Cabtouch

Nope that doesn't work for me funny thing is I even uninstalled the app and it was still broadcasting until I rebooted I'm at a loss with this and the developer has no clue as to why it's doing it either

I had the same problem with my lg g3 and my Samsung PM 900. I decided to uninstall the app until there is a new update hoping it might be better...
I've emailed the developer and he can't find a problem I emailed him a video showing exactly what it was doing
I think I found the problem if you have the hacked hotspot apk installed this app won't stop broadcasting so far by putting the original hotspot apk back on has fixed the problem but I'm still doing some further testing to make sure

Whatsapp Web not connecting when phone is locked

Hey guys,
Trying on this more active forum...
I just bought the S21+, overall great phone except couple of issue with Android Auto and Whatsapp.
I was able to fix the Android Auto issue (wouldn't connect, had to remove the latest Google Chrome updates) but the whatsapp issue is above my paygrade.
I scanned the QR code and everything works but as soon as the phone screen goes black, whatsapp is slow and disconnects often. Not completely disconnected as after I send a message perhaps 10/15 seconds later it gets set but still not responsive as before (S8+)
Any idea?
you can try other software to watch network connection status, if no problem, maybe that's compitability issue on s21+

Not sure if you managed to fix this but in case you haven't.
You need to make WhatsApp a non-optimized app in the battery settings. That way WA will consume as much battery as needed to stay alive and to connect to WA Web.

How about disabling Wi-fi power saving mode?
Phone is not connected to wifi, would that matter?

No, it shouldn't matter. I was just trying to provide an option.
I really don't have any problem when its on mobile data but I do have problems with Wifi from time to time cause WhatsApp Web is poorly implemented with the app.
Sorry I couldnt provide any help.
