What happens when you try Phone Settings -> System updates (all the way at the bottom) -> Check for new system updates . That is the easiest way unless you are rooted.

From below linked thread get the 24C MM KDZ file and use LGUP PC utility linked in that thread to flash the KDZ using UPGRADE option unless you want to wipe your phone, in which case use the REFURBISH option:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g4/general/kdz-download-kdz-24c-official-lg-servers-t3317412
It is best to use the REFURBISH option and wipe your apps, so use the phone's Backup & reset option to make a backup to your external SD just in case the UPGRADE option does not boot and you need to do the REFURBISH option to get it working:

Nobody know to mankind on the planet earth has a rooted MM VS986  ...... If you value root like I do, you stay with 13B Lollipop until someone figures out how to root MM on VS986.
The good new is you can try MM unrooted, then if you don't like it, go back to L rooted .

I am on stock Lollipop and plan to revert back to KitKat. I understand that it needs to be using Flash Tool. However, I have following questions:

yes, but I need to go back to kk first. I was on v10J-SEA-XX before Iollipop was installed and so was looking for that kdz. Are you suggesting any kdz will do? Also, how do I safely go back to lollipop from KK without losing EFS/Modem.
Thanks

1) No way. You -can't- backup efs without root. And you can't obtain it without downgrading to 4.4.2.
2) Just flash any 4.4.2 kdz. You won't lose efs, that partition is not being written to in update process.

I am having the same problem and strongly advice to hang on with lollipop till a valid tutorial is available for safe downgrade.
Till now I have tried flashing Kitkat over 10 times and every time I get an unknown baseband, null imei problem. I have also tried backing up EFS from lollipop and restoring on Kitkat but that doesnt work, maybe if you have EFS backup of your Kitkat version you can safely downgrade but otherwise it is not possible.
I believe the Samsung Lollipop update came with an EFS update which makes Kitkat unable to read Lollipop EFS, and without EFS you won't be able to use the phone properly.
Hope my experience helps.

Update my rooted phone

My unlocked and rooted h815 is running v10c-xx-eu and a custom recovery (twrp)
It run xposed and some cool module
There is an update for me
V 10 d
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2V...p=docslist_api
Can I ota update, or maybe I should use the pcsuite? Will I lose any data during the update? Is it safe?
Thanks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/h815-eu-l-p-t-sea-twn-t3176195
There's a flashable zip here which contains the stagefright fix, meaning it's the latest update, even though it has a different version name. It's from the Taiwanese (?) or whichever other version of the h815. Works on our international unbranded phones.
DON'T TAKE AN OTA
No, you can't update your phone wit ota if you have root. Is there twrp available for h815?

I was in the same case. This is what I did:
I updated my rooted 10c (locked bootloader) to 10d (stock kdz image) with LG Flashtool.
After reboot, I switched off the phone BEFORE first setup.
Then I used the command tool to flash a rooted 10d.
I didin't loose any app, setting, or whatsoever...:good:

Yup!
Someone was nice enough to upload a pre-rooted 13B image.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g4/general/vs98613b-saved-image-rooted-t3258794
Complete directions to install root are in this thread.

Remember, keep your rooted image on your phones internal storage incase something happens. You can always re-flash it. But if things go really wrong and you are already on 13B software, there is now a 13b KDZ available at the following link.

13B OTA update is ONLY for Verizon users. It will brick your phone if you try installing a different firmware on your phone than what its designed/intended.
You need to wait for your phone to get its OTA update notification. Then uninstall Xposed if you have it installed. Un-root by running KDZ for the CURRENT software version you have. Then take the OTA update. Then make your own proper system image (Step 1). Then using Ubuntu to inject root into the system image you made (Step 2). Lastly, root your phone with the rooted image you made (Step 3).
Any LG G4 can be rooted as long as you know what software version you have and can follow directions. Question I have for you is what software version do you have? Is it rooted? Do you have Xposed installed?
This thread will guide you through on how to do it, especially since you might need to make your own rooted image. Just READ all of it and FOLLOW all the directions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/lg-g4-100-root-success-directives-root-t3180586
If you decide to root, remember to KEEP an image on your phone in case you get stuck on a bootloop tinkering with phone. Can then easily flash that image. Especially if a current KDZ for your software is not out.
Good luck

Why would Verizon ever send an update to non verizon users? You need to have a Verizon SIM card in your phone to be detected by verizon and receive the update I believe.

Hi Fellow XDA members. I have a stock 11A Verizon LG G4 and I am not a Verizon customer (switched from Verizon to T-Mobile pay as you go plan since I do not need the data plan). There seems to be some confusion..
Basically the question here is I have a Verizon LG G4 VS986(Running stock 11a) but using it with a different SIM card and thus stuck on 11a.
So is it possible to manually flash 13b kdz to upgrade to 13b
I know I am asking it again but just want to be sure as there are 2 opinions here in the thread.

That is good to know. Someone else posted on another forum saying they tried it, were having problems and it did not work. But glad to see it does. I think he and a few others thought it made sense that 13B KDZ is a full package that would update kernel and bootloader to latest version no matter the previous software version, but wanted to play it safe and not brick anyones phone.

i think you can try rooting with kingroot, then flashing twrp, then flash cm13. Though I have not tried this method before. From what I read kingroot only gives temporary root which lasts a reboot so you gotta download everything, root, install autorec from play store, then reboot into twrp and flash.
Don't try Autorec method on Marsmallow rom. It will hard brick your phone (it's hard to repair it for inexperienced user).
What I recommended is tot method for retrieving stock lollipop. Then you can try root and Autorec.

If you don't mind losing data, you can try this guide by hyeltonhttps://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
Make sure to use the TOT method. If you are on Marshmallow, use the .dll for lollipop(in general thread for LG G3)
Then you can easily root using Stump(google stump apk). For this you will have to enable Unknown sources. Let Stump bruteforce and it will root. Then you can install TWRP and the marshmallow zip for your device. Lastly, go into TWRP and flash your zip.

I would greatly appreciated if you can help me with this. So it seems that something got messed up. I tried to downgrade using the LGUP method and when the phone reboots, I get the android bot on its back with an exclamation mark. I can get into to download mode so I tried using the method mentioned above and I get a message to remove the battery and restart the process basically. Is there anything I can do to salvage the phone? Please let me know if you know how or if you can direct me to the right link. Thanks in advance.
