Do you think if i use cyanogen mod to update it to android l or m. Would it work?
I am not a dev so I don't want to mislead you, but suggest things I would try, you could try a complete clean install I would be very shocked if that did not fix

Ok, I thought you were on a custom rom already, if you are on stock rooted, then I would try going to back to full stock unrooted. Give yourself a clean slate. Personally, I like the touchwiz actually vs the CM13, I will probably revert back at some point. FULLY CHARGE before doing anything.
Watch these videos to get familiar with Samsung flashing and ODIN
Download mode
Root
Install TWRP
You can find instructions on how to go back to stock HERE.
Here is a video describing the process, now the video is for the 12.2 model but it is almost the same except for the files downloaded, you would grab the 8.4 versions. It is not hard, so don't stress it you got this no problem. Samsung flashing is pretty forgiving and ODIN is a beast.

To start I am a newb
I Have a galaxy nexus with the 4.1 Jelly Beans ( not stock, installed via ROM from here xda). That's fine. This week a new "system" update was available for my phone. So I downloaded it and the phone reboot, when the phone starts it goes to the cwm recovery screen saying the update failed. I would like to have some HELP, I found other threads, but I really don't want to do anything worng.
My questions:
How can i get the updates to work again?
DO i need to get ICS back to update the phone?
How should i do it?
Can I do that without losing my data ( would be great, but i am ok if there is no way)
I am just afraid if i go back to ICS, and the update don't show up.

Flash your phone back to stock... then do the ota update... profit...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Everything must must be bone stock to install an ota.
Jellin' like a felon
The issue at hand here is that you have a custom recovery. I can't say that if you remove CWM that you'll be able to OTA update, but that's at least what was the problem there. Now, if you want to keep all your apps and update to the OTA jelly bean instead of the Google I/O preview build, you can flash this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737849
Follow the instructions on that post to update. This is what I did and it worked perfectly.
Camera not working after JB update!
Hi! I recently installed JB on my Dad's Galaxy Nexus, whilst everything seems to work fine, I've noticed that the camera has stopped working. The screen goes blank if i access the camera. I've tried installing 3rd party applications for camera, but none of them work! Please help me! Is it a hardware or a software fault?

But going to factory reset will not remove the cwm recovery... right? If i go to factory data reset on my phone ( remember i am using a 4.1 rom) will it go back to ics and delete all roms / root? Cause this sounds like the best way to do it, but you were the first one that said that. Bought my phone from Amazon unlocked ( do you guys think it is gonna update?)
I did that, no help! I think it's a hardware fault. Thanks anyway!

PLZ, tell me!! If I do the factory reset is it gonna remove CWM, and all stuff i have installed?
You said you downloaded your ROM from here, but you didn't say which one. There was at least one (Koush's) that was an image of the stock ROM, taken from the OTA update that went out to the phones given out at Google I/O. If you have that ROM (and the corresponding radio), you can just use CWM to install the OTA update. I know this works because I did it myself.
If you really have one of the custom ROMs, your only choice is to return to stock if you want the official OTA. And yes, this will remove CWM and wipe your entire phone (including anything in /sdcard)... so backup anything you want to keep before you try this. See efrant's excellent guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895

Sorry man, I know i am not giving a lot of information, but that's cause i really don't know. I did a random "how to update your galaxy nexus to 4.1" tutorial, and i don't even remember where...... I just know the links i download were from here.
So what i am going to do:
1: Factory data reset
2: I think it's going back to ICS
3: Just do the normal system update that should just pop up.
My only fear is if the phone does not ask for update.
If you restore to stock using efrant's guide, it will be ICS since Google has not yet posted Jelly Bean firmware images. If you don't get the OTA notification or don't want to wait for it, you can just download and apply it manually (see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419170)

No, that will just wipe data. You'll have a clean phone, but with the same ROM you currently have. The phone doesn't keep a copy of the stock firmware hidden away or anything like that. Efrant's guide is the proper way to restore everything back to stock.
I have lots of experience flashing android roms and this may be a first for me.
Flashed latest MMuzzyrom 4.3 vanilla. Originally had latest stock rooted.
Everything worked flashed full gapps for 4.3 right after it and booted right into android. Everything was previously wiped clean. rebooted soon after and it stick on "google" with "unlock"
screen for half an hour before giving up.
Tried second time and booted right into the new rom. I forgot about the previous reboot issue. spent all day getting most of my apps installed and everything setup. Went to reboot and same crap . Tried clearing cache and dalvik no help.
Wish I would have not wasted my time. I only wish their is a way to salvage this before flashing another rom or a stock image.

I have lots of experience as well and this is the first time I've run into this issue. The same **** has been happening to me on all 4.3 ROMs. I had to wipe everything, including internal storage, and reflash a 4.2.2 ROM to solve it. Wish I knew the issue here.
I decided to try flashing a different 4.3 ROM and it hung up for some reason during booting. I then decided to flash the factory image. Then tried the different ROM I downloaded. Seems to be good now. I still don't know what caused it but life is good now.

Why are you people flashing 4.3 "vanilla ROMs" through a custom recovery when we've got FACTORY IMAGES.
Is it really that hard to root a stock rom? Just follow the whole situation going on with su and you'll know!
Oh and drop the damn toolkit.

Hi,
Unsure about whether the firmware version used in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2495122 will work on samsung galaxy tab 3.10 GT-P5210 with firmware P5210XXUAMFA. Can anyone please advise? I need rooted stock rom so as to retain original apps + look & feel (it is a work tablet for my wife)
Thanks

It should be fine. But make sure you have a copy of the original in case something goes wrong.
Actually, I don't see why you don't just install cwm or twrp and the the root zip. That way you keep what you're running but gain root.
And thinking for a second you have to install cwm or twrp to install what you're asking about so it only makes sense to just install the root zip instead of the other ROM. Unless you want the few tweaks from it.

sorry for the delay... TBH, I didn't note my original build anywhere, but I would assume that it hasn't changed, as I have ONLY applied this custom recovery/root process... everything else is still stock. Right now, it reads as JDQ39.P5210XXUAMG6. I *believe* that it is good for any 52xx.. read through the thread, I am pretty sure the question came up there. IF you want to use the Sammy update when (if) an update is rolled out for our device, it will fail. The system is recognized as having been modified. There may be a way around this now, but I plan to apply any upgrade manually... if at all.
Since I have your attention, do you know of any decent custom ROMs for this thing?? I looked a bit, but there doesn't seem to be much out there:fingers-crossed:

Thanks for your response! Sorry I do not. I imagine down the road there will be more development for the tab 3 but I took one look at the development and realized I would rather pay a hundred dollars more and get the device that has a processor that people know how to work with (Note10.1). Also has front facing speakers and the s pen. Sure it hasn't had the upgrade from 4.1.2 yet but I'm okay with that... that's why I root. Best of luck!

Hi as always I come for the expert advice to you guys. I have recently UPDATED my Galaxy S4 for Tmobile to CyanogenMod. Frankly I love the speed but it is still in beta version and has a few things I did not like. Few glitches. Anyway:
I want to go back to my stock firmware which was Kit Kat 4.2.2.before I installed Cyanogenmod.
I already downloaded Odin V3 09 and am ready to do this but I still do not have the stock firmware file. I looked for it but I really don't want to screw it up.
Can someone be so kind and insert the link to the download ? And if of course possible STEP BY STEP instructions on HOW TO GO BACK ?
I understand my phone now is rooted and will stay rooted after reinstalling Kit Kat. So I still should be able to get rid of all the bloatware correct ?
Any help greatly appreciated and huge THANKS IN ADVANCE !!!
Download firmware here http://www.cheatersedge.org/android/m919/M919UVUFNB4_M919TMBFNB4_TMB_FENNY_FIXED.zip, there is a thread already on instructions on how to flash.. and just because you rooted doesn't mean your device will stay rooted forever. Once you flash the firmware you will be unrooted but you can root again.. Alternatively you can just flash a debloated stock rom in recovery

Finding the stock firmware won't be easy unless you try downloading from sammoble, but you could try Fenny's stock rooted 4.4.2 rom in development.
It's very smooth without the bloatware and it has unlimited tethering.
It works best with Philz recovery.
Just follow the directions and your good to go.
Don't forget to do a factory reset.
Pp.
Sent from my Touchwiz device that never forgets apps.
PIN lock screen does NOT work on Fenny's rom when you first boot/restart/power up the phone. So, if you are turning your phone on the lock screen will just be skipped over.
Pin lock issue could be NG if you need that type of security.

When it comes to those files " OFFICIAL TAR AND ORIGINAL TAR " do I just choose any one of them ?? I wanted to know the difference between them both. Instructions don't really specify which to choose. Or is it both ?
And also there is a suggestion to " Wipe the data in recovery " after the whole thing how do I do that ? Should I do that ?

You don't have to worry about that, just use the tar file I posted earlier
Edit: and for the wipe data, you reboot to recovery after you flashed the firmware and do a factory reset.. Yes you should, but not necessary if you don't have any issues..

Interesting. Very weird it works on stock but not on aosp. Now that you have odined back to stock have you tried to re flash a aosp rom and check the camera? What stock rom are you odin-ing?
Are you also flashing any other mods or custom kernels?
I would try cm11 with just gapps installed and see what happens.
I doubt it's a hardware issue if it works on stock. Do you use any third party camera apps?
Sorry for lots of questions just trying to narrow down the problem.

Are you also flashing any other mods or custom kernels?
I would try cm11 with just gapps installed and see what happens.
I doubt it's a hardware issue if it works on stock. Do you use any third party camera apps?
Sorry for lots of questions just trying to narrow down the problem.

well there's the TowelRoot option that would require you to download SuperSU and BusyBox from the playstore then there's using Odin to flash any Custom Recover for the D2lte then in that recovery flashing Chainfire's SuperSU zip....then the most recommended is using Odin to flash the latest Philz Recovery for the D2lte which has an option to root the current rom that your on, under Philz settings

well it's a touch based Clockwork mod recovery and you can change the colors of all the letters that are visible and there's more options in there to do cool stuff and 2 different factory resets

so i gave wicked x a shot an its way kool and the camera works. still clueless as to why aosp roms camera wont work. Let the fun begin lol. thanks for the help guys i appreciate it
I got the same problem with my GS3. Tried several different roms and different builds of those roms that people reported having no problems with and still no fix.
Going to try Wicked X see what happens.
Ive been flashin roms for about 4years. I love aosp but then i had to try wicked X. Its absolutley amazeing. Ive had no reboots, no freezin, awesome battery life, and best of all... EVERY feature on the rom an of the phone works flawless!!! Try it ull be amazed lol
camera works fine on Wicked x. Don't like the rom though. So I'm switching back to 2.37 LS it worked fine on my previous device
I used LS 3.2 on my previous phone, galaxy nexus 4. For some reason i cant get the camera to work on my s3 on LS

Same here, I never ran stock rom on the phone. First thing I did was to root and flash the room.
I'm so use to LS since I ran it pretty much entire time for past 2 years. Very disappointed with camera issues in v3.0. Hope they get it taken care of soon.
