Update to BOL1 and Keep Root - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm currently on BOJ1 and rooted. I want to update to the latest T800XXU1BOL1 and keep root. I have the BOL1 OTA zip. Can I just flash it with Flashfire?
Thanks in advance.

How have you rooted?

OTA update help!

I need to update to the latest OTA. I am wondering if I can simply update via a zip file or do I have to get a new ROM in order to get to the most current OTA? Thanks in advance!

The best and smartest option us to just wait > check the dev section > flash the latest stock rooted rom.

Currently, the most-up-to-date OTA that's still rooted is 4.67.651.3. Keep up to date with either the Dev forums, or on the wiki.

True, but a link in that thread will bring you to his other thread with a completely unmodified ota zip

Which, if I'm thinking of the same post, is not rooted.

I just looked and that particular OTA is NOT rooted, so rooted users, do NOT flash that, unless you're in the unrooting process.

between the linked post and his other post, he has 1 rooted, 1 unrooted, and stand alone kernel.

If the device is already S-OFF or unlocked, all that will need to be done after flashing the OTA file is to flash superuser. The OTA file won't re-lock the device or break it in any way.

[Q] Upgrade without losing root?

Is it possible to upgrade to OE2 without losing root? Is there something I can flash or use Odin with?

Possible to remove root w/o odin?

Subject says it all.. I don't own a windows computer and I want to unroot.
if your running stock with cf auto-root you can take the mm ota. Or if you have total equipment protection just delete everything through custom recovery and take it to the sprint service center. say it just wont start. theyl bring you back to stock unrooted
The SuperSU app has a "Full Unroot" function

If you update you will lose Root and also TWRT.
So don't update.(only if you are at stock)

You're likely not clear on what root means.

No. Hold the volume down for a sec when you first enter recovery and then sideliad will be active
