help not sure what to do - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So ive successfully installed twrp,Supersu and rooted my m9, i then flashed android revolution rom and no longer have an imei or service its all unknown. Although in my bootloader it does show the correct imei and info. Please help, my phone is a tbaytel/rogers canadian phone. My download mode reads
Unlocked
Htc_himaulatt PVT S-ON
LK-1.0.0.0000
Radio-01.01_U11440801_96.01.51207G_F
Opendsp-15.6.1.00522.8994_1026
OS-3.38.631.2

Anyone have any ideas it boots into os fine, bootloader and recovery all work too. Have the original case with the original imei on it. Phone new never been out of the otterbox. Have a lg g3 with the same network and everything if that helps with dumping radio info. Im sort of familair with adb and fastboot. I didnt have any issues rooting it or flashing twp.

Which firmware was it on when you rooted it?
Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk

Havent changed the firmware as far as i know i just rooted flashed twp and flashed the rom over. Forgive me if im wrong im not an expert. But that os on my bootloader when i googled the version comes up as stock rogers canadian. So i assume maybe it didnt flash correctly or fully? Im not sure what you mean by firmware entirley off to work but ill google and try to find out for you tonight thank you soo much for your help. Also my phone is S-ON havent messed with that just was trying to do the minimal to get android revo working for the gpu tweaks.

If your device was on 6.0 when you rooted it you can only use roms that are 6.0 based.
If it was 5.1 then you can only use 5.1 based roms..
Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk

I had the most recent update pushed to canadian htc m9s that rogers had. Pretty sure it would be 6.0

Anyway i can find out

I also did a twrp backup but the system image dump failed to write to my sd but all the other files did. If theres a way to extract that info.

So i just tried my twrp backup restore it failed because of the system image thing but now im back to my old stock rom and my imei and everything is in there and it says android 6.0. It now reads i dont have a sim card in it unlike before in going to try and put it in and see what happens will update soon.

So everything works now. But no Android revolution any ideas what could have happened? I'm not sure if LTE works not going to be in that coverage area for a few more days but 4g works good and phone is running normally.

There's no harm in rooting the device if you need root but when it comes to flashing roms you're best investing in s-off.
It would seem to me that you probably had a firmware mismatch. You can only flash mm based roms over mm stock rom, Lollipop roms over Lollipop stock rom.

Well everything works now from my understanding I was flashing Android revolutions 6.0 version which matches my firmware of 6.0. Also is sunshine the only way to obtain s-off

My Android version is 6.0
HTC Sense Version 7.0
Software Number 3.38.631.2

Yes sunshine and $25/£18 is the only way to s-off. Sunshine works great but be sure to read twice, act once.

Sweet thanks would you mind detailing the correct way to flash a Rom onto my M9 I've read a bunch of guides step by step and ended up with that issue I described to you so. Lol

Follow the guide that comes with the rom or the guide will be on the support thread. I don't support rom flashing as there is no need to fix what isn't broke. Stock roms are better for me.

Is this downgradable yet to root ? I ****in hate standard roms
Please help..
Thanks
i think versions above 2.37 can't be downgraded yet.
i am waiting for downgrade of 2.42 as well. just wait
I to have 2.50.405.2 after repair.
I found rooted this version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1155634&highlight=2.50.405.2
But dont know will it help to change ROM.
If some one will find some solution please share it.
gingerbreak 1.2 not working with 2.50
Well, u need clockworkmod to flash it which u need rom manager for. And for rom manager u need root
I think we'll have to wait.. But the 2.37+ downgrade has been in development for about 2 months now.. Taking way to long
Probably waiting to see which bootloaders are unlocked, as promised.
Due out in September.

If u are S-OFF then u can downgrade to 2.36 by using the RUU version then root ur device,
edit:- i´ve done it more than 3times after updating from 2.36 to 2.50 "OTA" (believe me u can)
U can get the 2.36 ruu here:-

So,if i'm novice and i don't have s-off with 2.50 only thing i can do is wait for downgrade?is that right?

I was waiting for this too, and now it seems like we can downgrade and root our devices. What could worst case scenario be, if something went wrong?
Have you ever rooted a device before?
Nn,im freshmani didn't do anything about this..so i need some simple manual how to do it?this link seems complicated for me nowi dont have,root,s-off etc..

I successfully downgraded and rooted my desire hd 2.42.415 at last. Thanks a million JSLEnterprises. You are awesome
Trivial Question
I have a trivial question, I am very interested in rooting using this method, however I have recently encountered an issue with my stock rom ever since I did the OTA update to 2.43.611.1 The issue is HTC Sence has stopped unexpectedly window pops up quite often & in talking to telus my provider & HTC them selves, they both say the phone needs to be repaired,
My question since I encountered the problem immediatly upon doing the OTA update should I get it repaired first or just try rooting to see if that fixes it.
Also if possible can I be pointed in the direction of how to return to stock Telus if I end up rooting & the probelm still persists?
My thanks to thoes who have diligently be working & involved in helping others & myself reach root status on higher Build numbers.
Great Work!

The reason you're getting the error after the ota update is the same reason why people get issues after installing custom roms and not wiping their device... the old cache and user data conflicts with the update.
Downgrading and then flashing a custom rom along with flashing an updated radio will remedy the problem. I dont believe you'll want to use the initial radio release, I highly recommend flashing the radio from the 2.52 korean release to your Telus DHD, along with the ril's from that release and replacing the ones in the rom you will flash via cwm recovery. ENG S-OFF is required to flash a new radio or recovery img.
Once you downgrade, you can always return to the stock 2.43.661.1 rom. There is a thread in the Desire HD/Inspire 4G Forum on Driphter.com where I've placed the RUU's of common builds (especially for Telus and AT&T). If returning the device for warranty purposes, you must Radio S-On prior to Installing the stock rom via the RUU. The RUU Itself will set ENG to SHIP, and unroot.
Excellent, Greatly appreciated.
Might try rooting as soon as tonight. Kind of excited to have a functional device again!
I am glad that it worked, i thought OH **** the other day, when i found out that i shouldn't have updated to 2.50, if i was about to root..
Big thanks to you JSL, nice work, and easy tuturial!!
I can see that in /HTC ACE TOOLKIT
is a splash screen changer, and a boot animation changer.. how do i use them?
Cheers guys I will try that downgrade guide. Just a note though. The file fize of the version of HTC Sync for the Desire HD I'm downloading is 66.6MB. I hope that isn't an omen for this to go horrendously wrong

(WANTED) Official 2.3 latest firmware nanodroid backup file

Hey guys i just got an HTC desire online for my dad..
Its running MIUI..
its rooted has recovery etc..
Im not familar with HTC phones so i dont want to go through the trouble of searching for a rom downloading flasher etc..
So if anyone has the Latest GSM Official 2.3 update can you please link it to me?
Cheers
First item on this link. Be reminded that this will unroot and flash a locked bootloader. You need to use Revolutionary to s-off and be able to flash superuser.

On a similar note to this chap, I've also bought my dad a Desire off eBay which is running CM7.1 stable. Problem is, Bluetooth won't release audio back to device speakers (without rebooting the device at least) so I want to reflash stock. My dad's a bit of a brick when it comes to technology, so I don't need the device rooted.
Would you guys recommend just running the official HTC 2.3 RUU?
I'm running the above ROM after trying a few customs which were bloated, buggy and unreliable. It's just the stock 2.3 ROM with root and performance is great!
Sense is a bit of a mess for beginners (e.g. MIUI is a lot cleaner) but it's a very reliable ROM.
Looking through the Desire forums, a lot - possibly most - cases of bricking the phone arise from people trying to s-on their phone, and/or running an RUU.
Yes, you only hear about the problem cases but even so, personally, I wouldn't try to s-on unless you really need to.

Agreed, go with a pre-rooted stock rom.
Plus with stock 2.3 you'll run out of memory for apps pretty quickly, so a rom that uses sd-ext would be best

[Q] Incredible 2 Sim unlocked, custom rom install help

Hi,
I have a Droid Incredible 2. It was given to me with a custom rom but chinese and a lot of chinese softwares but it was working fine and it's sim unlocked and was able to use it here in the Philippines with my carrier. so I decided to flash a stock rom and I reaalized that the stock rom would of course only work with Verizon. My mistake is I was not able to back up the previous rom. So I'm wondering if there's a rom that I can flash that will enable me to use it again with my network here in the Philippines? And also, I have been wondering how this phone got rooted. At first when I checked the Bootloader was locked but it has S-OFF. So I decided to unlock it. Now I wanted to try some other roms, but roms I liked is requiring blackrose hboot. This phone has hboot 0.98.0000, I want to know if I will be able to upgrade it to blackrose with this Hboot version.
I'm really confused now. I need this phone working again, I don't know what to do,
Attached is a picture of the HBOOT screen
...err you can only flash ROMs for this device and from my knowledge correct me if I'm wrong ..we don't use black rose ...if you used the search thingy it wouldn't come up here...(now it will) but yea high rant over.....find the latest radio update your recovery make a back up flash my ROMs :+D j/p there are a bunch of great ROMs out there for this phone its your preference

[Q] Unroot GPE M8

I know there is multiple threads that I have read through regarding the unroot process but it seems like I have not found a definitive thread for someone looking to unroot an original GPE M8 that has a GPE ROM installed. Im not talking about anything being converted over the Sense, im talking everything still all GPE..I have mine running Sinless ROM (GPE version) and I am wanting to unroot and bring back to 100% stock. Has anyone done this yet and if so could you please show me the process of how it was done? Been trying to figure this out for awhile now and I would greatly appreciate it!
It looks like you've since moved on from the GPE M8, but did you ever find a solution? I'm looking for the same rom. I've been hoping that the lollipop release would provide stock roms but that got delayed!

you may need s-off
Hi, I attempted flashing the RUU both ways but neither worked. The ADB method resulted in error 99, an error not listed in the guide. I suspect this may be due to have s-on. Unfortunately there isn't any method as far as I am aware of to turn s-off. Both firewater and sunshine do not work with the GPE M8. I may just attempt to build a ROM from source.

You need to update your firmware, as discussed on many different threads.
And by updating your firmware, he means the "baseband", not the rom itself. You will most likely need to S-Off.

Firmware is not the ROM itself, that is true (and a common source of confusion). But it includes a variety of partitions/modules not contained in the ROM, only one of which is the radio baseband:
hboot
radio
WiFi (and its this one that is causing the issue)
Bluetooth
Media
Stock recovery
boot.img
Others
Updating firmware is possible with s-on by returning to stock ROM and stock recovery, and updating via OTA to the current Lollipop software and firmware. After that, the OP can flash custom recovery again, and the custom ROM of choice.
Could you possibly show the right direction in doing that, im having trouble finding stuff for this specific model

Did you try to flash the stock Lollipop ROM for your version (CID)?
What you probably need to do is flash the 2.16.654 stock ROM, corresponding stock recovery, than OTA up to Lollipop to update the firmware. Finding the stock 2.16.654 ROM may be the challenge here.
You didn't happen to make a nandroid (TWRP backup) of your stock ROM before flashing any other ROMs?

With s-off, you can flash a firmware package without having to jump through the hoops of returning to stock and OTA updates.
But if its not the Lollipop firmware for your CID (for instance, you can't find it), you'll need to make sure its one that has a radio baseband that plays well with your local carrier.
The one hitch, is that you may need to restore to stock in order to run sunshine s-off. Sunshine may or may not work with LeeDroid. It might be "stockish" enough for sunshine to work.

I'm not talking about your ROM preference. I'm referring to the fact that stock ROM (and also stock recovery) is the best configuration for sunshine s-off to work. But you are in kind of a Catch-22, in that you are trying to get back to stock. And by the time you return to stock ROM and stock recovery, you are pretty close to just updating the firmware by OTA, anyway (and in that case, s-off isn't needed).
Some folks have had success doing s-off with certain custom Sense ROMs (while other ROMs will interfere with sunshine). I think InsertCoin and Maximus are the ones I've seen mentioned, and LeeDroid might be close enough to stock for sunshine to work, also. Its worth trying, anyway (if s-off is indeed what you want). The sunshine app will tell you whether your phone is compatible or not (and if not, then you can try a different ROM), and you won't be charged any money unless it works.

Any way to s-off besides sunshine? NO.
If you are asking if there is a way to update firmware without paying (therefore with s-on), I've already described that process in Post #6 above. But as I already mentioned there, you might have trouble finding the 2.16.654 stock nandroid. You may need to ask for it to be posted, or look around.

Ah, yes. I don't think it even occurred to me that your version was Sprint, and that it had RUUs. While I'm in the US (AT&T) I'm so used to helping folks outside the US (and most variants outside the US don't have RUUs).
If you used the RUU to update to version 4.25 firmware, that is already up to date, and there won't be an OTA at this time.
