There was an easy and high success free unlock tutorial in the ATT S3 General section and for it to work on US Cellular, I recommend checking gsmarena.com and conparing the AT&T model (SGH-I747) to the US Cellular version side by side. Hope this helps!

Isn't US Cellular CDMA network?
Just call your provider and tell them you are traveling to Europe, and want to use your phone there. They will ( should) provide the information to unlock your phone within a day or two.
I just purchased a used Samsung Galaxy SII for my girlfriend on Swappa. This is the T-Mobile version of the phone. According to the description, the phone is not unlocked. She uses Wal-Mart's Family Mobile powered by T-Mobile. I am wondering if I will need to unlock this phone for use on that network and if so, how do I go about doing it? I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can provide. Thank you very much.

I don't think you need to unlock to use it on Family Mobile. Just put the SIM in and you should be good to go.

U don't need to unlock because any T-Mobile based service will work on a T-Mobile phone without unlocking. APN might need to be changed that's all. I have used T-Mobile straight Sim on this phone and work great with no unlock

I was told that I cant use an at&t gnote 2 in Australia but from what I've read a i317 will use the same band and the lte standard. Does anyone know of issues with using an at&t gnote downunder?
Should run fine with the proper APN settings...
The LTE bands are looking to be the same....depending on carrier and in some cases the location in Australia...
Give it a go...but have a plan B...g

Why do you need to root it? As long as it's SIM unlocked it should work on most GSM networks in the world.
