My screen got cracked and its hard to find someone who is willing to fix it (besides I dont have too much disposable income anyway). I have never took anything electronic apart before. How hard would it be to fix my screen? Considering my lack of experience would you recommend I dont try to?
I found it quite easy to replace the screen on mine. Im not the most experienced person in the world when it comes to tech, but the G4 is by far one of the simplest phones to take apart.
If your going to buy a new screen, I would strongly advise you go with one with the silver frame/bezel around the screen pre attached. It may cost a couple extra bucks but it is definitely worth it. I bought mine from here: http://www.etradesupply.com/lg-g4-h815-lcd-assembly-with-front-housing-no-small-parts-black.html
I can link you the video I watched if you want, it explains it very well.

That would be cool, Thanks! That way I can see if it seem complicated. Would you happen to know if that website you linked me to will ship to Canada?
--edit--
Also it says its compatible with the H815, I have the H812. Would it still work for me?
Here's the video that i watched: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rX45jAzco_0
Its pretty straight forward really. There's only a dozen screws to take out, then you take off the plastic shroud, undo the ribbon connectors for the camera, screen and front camera, then remove the mother board, CAREFULLY remove all the components (there is a option for the new screen to have new components already on it, but its like 2x as much $$), then reassemble in reverse order. They tell you that you need a heat gun and double sided tape, but i didn't use either.

Yea, they ship worldwide. I'm in Australia and it took probably 1 week to arrive (was over 3 months ago now).

I have the H815T (which is different to the H815 btw) and it works flawlessly. Nice colour, no visible differences from the original (apart from the obvious shattered screen of the original) and it fit straight in.
Any other questions, feel free to ask

It's a new record for me... I had my new Aria/Liberty/Intruder all set up and inside of three days dropped and T-boned the screen
Anyone have ideas on where to find parts for a Aria? I understand HTC is notoriously slow about releasing aftermarket parts. The repair guy I took my phone to encouraged me to help him find the part.
Many thanks-

I used to order all my blackberry parts from here. Very good reveiws. There across the seas but shipping is usually quick and even faster if you bump it up.http://cnn.cn/shop/htc-aria-c-277_1068.html
Thanks Kudvu002! You saved the day!
I found one on ebay, but the shipping's not as quick.
Have you tried taking it apart yet? I'm trying to get a little insight on the disassembly. It seems like you can pop off the top yellow cover but I wasn't able to get it off and didn't want to force it.
anyone knows where to buy the digitizer for the Aria? cnn.cn shows the digitizer in stock,, but when you go to checkout it says it is not....
Ordered mine about a week ago but it says it was shipped, now I just gotta get it apart!

digitizer replaced
So I followed the tutorial found on android forums, it was relatively easy, i forgot to take pictures of the steps but i can write a tutorial if anyone wants it, because the tutorial on A.F. is a little vague. But I have found a solution to the cracked screen problem, I went to Best Buy to see if they had the Zagg shield (which they do, it's for the Intruder/Aria/Liberty) but they also had a new case which looks a little more resilient against dropping. The case is made by Superior Communications (BB item number 35307BBR) and is pretty rugged looking, anyways let me know if you want a tutorial written up, i will try to get some pics to do it with.
so I'm about to replace mine.. any tutorial with pics available?
for those of you that have ordered and recieved their replacement digitizers, are they AT&T branded still?

Yes they are.. and they are not original part... there are some differences... and after the installation you will have the light that turns on the -home- menu-back-search buttons to filter into the screen. I finished up adding the insurance and getting a brand new for $50.00 and sold the old one for 200

I can have a tutorial up by tomorrow, unfortunately with pics of the full install but close enough to get you there. The screen I bought was an HTC oem screen and ATT branded, there aren't any that aren't branded so far. Lemme get the tutorial together and ill post it tomorrow.

I've seen this phone shown off a few times withut the AT&T branding and with just the HTC logo at the top/middle and would prefer that digitizer.
(and no I wasn't mistaking the HD Mini for the Aria lol) Wonder how long before those are available. Probably will have to wait until another carrier gets the phone IF anyone else decides to even pick it up.
The button light issue is quite a drag tho. Sucks. You could try to add some sort of tiny strip above the capacitive buttons area to shield the light from leaking into the viewable screen area.
here is a good video showing a Disassembly of the phone, it might help.

doing this now...it is a HUGE pain in the ass
ok, to anyone who tries this BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU PULL THE RIBBON OUT
I pulled too hard and like an asshole I broke the "plug" piece off of the ribbon and it's stuck in the "socket"
looks like it's time to try and scam AT&T again
so to make a long story short, i managed to shatter the screen on my att branded lg g4. Its so bad that NOTHING displays on the screen when powered on (but the notification led still works lol)
But i need to know if theres anywhere online i could order a new screen (that wont charge me an arm and a leg)....
ANDDDD will an h815 screen work with my h810? (I dont see why it wouldnt)
You want the digitizer WITH frame in one.makes it easier. You don't want those two separate. Prolly do it yourself. Watch this.
Another, strip and put together inside ten minutes. This is how phones should be engineered.
This should give you an idea of price.

I watched the video and i cant believe how simple that is!!! And it looks like im better off getting the whole digitizer WITH FRAME assembly (would make the whole thing way easier lol). But ive got three questions.
First, Is repairsuniverse a reputable site? Id rather not get jipped for almost $100....
Second, are they US based? I live on the east coast of the US so I'm kinda hoping i could get it sooner then later (because for now I'm stuck using my old iphone 5c and the tiny screen is killing me!!!!!! Hahaha)
And third, are there any other REPUTABLE places i could order from that wouldn't be AS expensive? Because with me being an unemployed single father, i don't have much money to throw around, so id like to try and save as much money as possible....
Thank you very much for your responses and such.
How did you break the screen anyway. what kind of back did it have and were you using any sort of case.

they have a youtube channel with a guy who speaks in an american accent, they dont have any grammatical or spelling errors on their site. They look legit. Credit card means you're protected.
In my market LG offers a free screen replacement within the first six months from sale, worth around the $100 mark. That is the limit of their liability.
Just ask at the service centre closest to you then decide.

Sorry for the lack of reply lol. I will answer all the questions to the best that I can. First off I need to thank ONE TWELVE because I DID order the screen with frame from that site and it actually came in 2-3 days before it was supposed to. It only took 3 days to get from nv to nj.
The only few issues I had with the new screen is FIRST, pulling the headset speaker out was a pita!! Everything came out fine. I think I spent more time just pulling the headset out then I did pulling the ENTIRE phone apart lol. SECOND issue (was kinda my fault) I had forgotten to take the bracket for the proximity sensor out of the old screen and put it into the new one (duhhh, guess I was so excited to actually have a working phone again that I missed that super tiny peice) and the THIRD issue which I haven't assessed yet; the notification LED IS NOWHERE near as bright as it used to be, but I think there may be a piece of film or something that I may have forgotten to remove from the new screen..
As for how the screen broke..... The phone was naked at the time (no case, no screen protector) and it has the black leather back (which I got because it felt like the plastic one would be to slippery cuz theses no grip to it). Me and my son were getting ready to walk out of the amusment park and someone bumped into me as I was texting for my ride (with only one hand, Because the other was holding my son's hand obviously) and being bumped had caught me off guard and the phone fell face down onto the STONE gravel walkway and shattered it right at the bottem of the screen. I'll find the box that has the OLD screen in it and upload a picture.
Mind you, this is the FIRST screen I have ever shattered. And I've owned every iPhone sinch the 3g hahahah

You did not drop your iphones because they're smaller. One hand use when the other hand is busy is why people get phones with smaller screens. But the reason (amongst others) that you got a bigger screen is because those small screens no longer cut it.
Leather means no case so the only thing left is a tempered glass protector. it will protect against a face down drop but not a corner drop, either putting it into or taking it out of a pocket, this too with just one hand.
Look for amfilm. Generic with good reviews on amazon.

Accually I find a case on Amazon that actually fits the leather back (after MUCH searching lol) it's a SPIGEN branded one. Its got a rubber back that slips into the phone and then a hard plastic bumper that clips around it (it's kinda hard to explane, I'll post the Amazon link)... But after a week or so of using the case I'm really not a fan of it. I might try and find something else that doesn't feel so cheap.
(sorry for the crazy long Amazon link lol)

Its called the neo hybrid and i have two of them. Good grip. rather than cheap i'd have thought you may have found them bulky.
other options are verus verge, uag, caseology if you don't mind the size.
Anyone else have luck w/ a reliable source for the screen / digitizer AND housing for a sprint variant? ereplacementparts.com said theirs does NOT work w/ the sprint variant. Anyone try the ones on Amazon?
Thanks.
Why don't you try the one already mentioned earlier ?
am surprised to hear there is even a difference between sprint and others when it comes to the screen.

Screen incompatibility?
Hello.
Has anyone encountered or does anyone know of incompatibilities with screen and G4 model? I recently bought a screen replacement but it doesn't seem to light up. The LED indicator and other components attached to the screen work fine though.
Actually the long story is I got hold of 3 replacement screens. The 1st one lit up but had problems recognizing touch and the display was fuzzy so I asked for another replacement. The 2nd one behaves as described in the paragraph above. The same goes for the 3rd one.
I noticed my original screen and the 1st replacement screen's ribbon were different from the 2nd and 3rd in that the 2nd and 3rd had a metal sheet which was not present on the 1st and my original one.
This is what the 2nd and 3rd replacement screens' ribbons look like: s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/usetsfiles/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/r/e/replacement_part_for_lg_g4_f500_lcd_screen_and_digitizer_assembly_-_black_-_lg_logo_-_a_grade_3__1.jpg
(sorry, I'm not yet allowed to post links)
I haven't tried removing the metal sheet as I haven't seen a tutorial video that does that.
The image isn't showing when i entered it into the browser. Says something about an xml file
Reduce the size of the filename and host it again.

Recently, my Nexus 5X LCD broke from the inside of the phone. The outside is flawless.
On ebay I came across this thing here, wich is the LCD+Digitizer+Frame. Basiclly, it's the whole front part withouth the motherboard and other back parts.
Do you think this is legit OEM screen and should I order it and just switch my parts with this since the only thing that is broken on mine is the LCD screen?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-LG-Go...847502?hash=item51dab812ce:g:U34AAOSwUV9WnMRe
Anyone tried doing something similar?
I don't want to use a certified LG repeair service since in my country, they charge you 4x as much for something like LCD display.
50$ and self-repair seems legit to me.
Im scared of getting a hoax screen and stuff

http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Full-LC...037834?hash=item41ab227aca:g:RU8AAOSwEa5XPtRO
I think you can't find oem parts on ebay because I read that oem parts are available only on LG repair service. Probably on ebay you can find only copies of the oem product but the most of the times they work well as an original part.
Have anyone personally tried any of this parts?
I need to replace LCD+Digitizer+Frame too, but I would like to buy a part that has a good feedback by someone...
I'm going to try that OEM later this month and report here. Fingers crossed for it to be good. I dont care if its OEM or not as long as it works as an OEM.
I found out that many sellers claim to sell the original LG part. Just search around for "ACQ88485501".
Do you think it is true or is it just a trick to sell the same part with an higher price...?

I ordered the part two weeks ago. It should get here tomorrow or the day after. I will post resulta when I switch the display.
Just an update; It arrived later than I anticipated, but that was not the companies fault. Anyway, the display is top grade, top notch, whatever you want to call it. It arrived in excellent condition, it works just like an original one and looks the same. The coating is properly applied and it just looks so damn gorgeous. I think it's even better than what I originaly had, but that might be due to a defective screen altogether. In summary, it worked out great for me, and I switched the whole front part of the device. So yea, my Nexus 5x is awasome again, can't wait to try 7.1.1. I ordered it from fixez.com
Ok, very good, thanks for your feedback.
Can you confirm that this is the part? https://www.fixez.com/store/lg/lg-google-nexus-5x/lg-nexus-5x-display-assembly-with-frame

Yes, that is the part. I live in Croatia. The shipping was arround 30 USD for me, it cost me arround 70 USD and I bought the 16 piece precision tool pack for 9.99 USD also. If I had gone to a shop for repairs here in Croatia, it would cost me arround 140 USD, I checked, so this is a realyl cheap alternative. The parts are easy to replace. There are numerous youtube videos about it, just be gentle Good luck:laugh:
You convinced me, I just bought the part from fixez, I spent 70$ too!
Does it already contains adhesives for the camera, battery and so on? Or do I need to buy them, like the 3m red tape...?
Thanks!
Soo here it goes....a few days ago I dropped my phone vertically ie headphone jack side straight to the ground while I was using it(Thanks to my slippery hands) and now the screen has shattered a little on the bottom around the fingerprint area but everything is fine touch works display works its just the glass above it cracked, I went to a local shop nearby (I dont think going to a lenovo service center with a shattered screen will help as it can only shatter my pocket) and they reckoned it to be around 2400rs or 37$ for a 99% copy I guess and 800rs extra or around 50$ for a original one so I did a little research online and found I can get one display with lcd for as low as 19.60$ on alixpress,I'm confused between these three ones this one's 19$ but no customer or seller reviews but with slight fast shipping in just 15-25 days(https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32856511836.html), other two are about 24$(One's 23.16$ another is 24.20$)with good rating and orders and normal 30 days shipping (https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32796869178.html)(https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32825740296.html) if you have any other suggestions or experience buying one its most welcome, now coming to the tutorial part this one seems legit the best one I found (https://youtu.be/-osJu7OMxVk)this chinese forum post had one guy do it and posted about 100+ pics while replacing it but now I can't seem to open it anymore :crying: (http://bbs.lenovomobile.cn/z2/t260432/) here too if you get any better ones please suggest also there are a tons of teardown videos too if someone can make me understand lol,I'm a noob when it comes to replacements, teardown things and my first time and I have to make sure not to **** up as I can't buy another phone for at least a year, the post I made is lengthy with every details is because some day someone else will be in the same spot and I hope this post comes to their help too...
Now I need answers to these-
1)Can I do it myself or should I get it done for almost the double price considering this will be my first time doing this.
2)The best choice among the lcd+digitalizer according to you
3)A suitable tutorial to do it myself at home
Thanks a lot

Get only the glass replaced by a professional, no need to change the display. It'll cost less than ₹1,000
IF its possible change only digitizer
But that operation cannot be done without special tools for heating etc, putting back can be tricky
As for buying new screen, see if you can find on your local advertising sites some Z2 with dead motherboard
Original is always best
If you buy from Ali, buy the most expensive one because those cheaper can destroy your experience with the phone...
Read feedback always on Ali

I haven't tried to even dissemble any mobile yet so replacing just the digitalizer as said by many is too hard without the required tools and I have none of them I'll try asking any professional once again if not I have to go for aliexpress for the lcd and digitalizer as it can done at home

Also be aware of the fingerprint scanner. I think that should he also disassembled, or ask seller does it have fingerprint scanner with lcd... Read about that
If you don't have experience, I would say go with the service center. Opening this phone can be tricky.
I ordered a new camera. When replacing it, there is copper foil on the back of the existing camera. It is very hard to keep in one piece. The new camera does not have it. Nobody sells it either. Is there an electronics copper foil ape that can be substituted? What is recommended? See step 23 for reference here: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Google+Pixel+6+Pro+Rear+Camera+Replacement/148964
Been best to salvage the OEM one... a small amount of anhydrous isopropyl alcohol could have been used to remove it.
Use Bertech Copper Foil Tape or equivalent.
Available on Amazon. Cut to size.
Probably a heat sink and maybe a rf Sheild.
Thank you! I have the foil, but there is no adhesive left on it, and it tore in two. I was thinking it has to be a solid piece. Same with that darn graphite tape they use. I fixit only sells some of the graphite, not the big one over the camera.
That said, my ebay, used camera was not recognized by the phone. It gave an error. Does the camera need to be paired with the logic board or something? The old/cracked camera works fine.

Better if one solid piece for thermal conductivity but it may prove not be an issue. Make sure it can't move and potentially short out anything.

That's a bigger issue. Try clearing cam app, force stopping it and try physically disconnecting the battery if you haven't already.
Not sure what to do if that fails, sorry. Google search it.
One more question, the OEM camera is about $160, found only at Ifixit. I see an aftermarket one for about 50 at esource parts. DO you think the knockoff will take just as good pics?? Probably not, but wondering what a pro thinks.

Yeah, I tried all that. Back to the ebay garbage dump it goes. See my other question above. I did google ONE source that says the camera HAS to be paired with proprietary software, but I find it hard to believe as there isnt one other hit on google and how could Ifixit sell it if replacements can't work? See below
Google Pixel 6 Pro camera repair manual and new benchmarks tip good and bad news
Google may be doing per-unit camera kit calibration for the Pixel 6 series, and that's not all good news.

Ugh, not looking good.
Yeah that's bs. Same garbage on Dodge cars/trucks.
Maybe have an authorized vendor program it.
Might be cheaper to let them do the repair. Gookill sucks.

Stick with OEM. Even that's not gonna be a fun ride it seems
Really appreciate it. Maybe I can bribe someone at assurion/ubreakifix. I was quoted about $250 to change the camera. EVEN if I have them do the screen for $278 at the same time. I can't believe they charge the same labor as if they were separate repairs.
I love cell phones, but I HATE them also.

Not sure it worth spending >$500 on. The mobo may have been damaged.
Not the same animal or specs but you can get a used Note 10+ for around $350. New ones can be still be had for $650 factory loaded with Q.
Supports up to a 1tb V-30 rated micro SD card. The spen is useful and the display is gorgeous.
It's a running machine and the pre-scoped storage OS is great. Security isn't an issue even with Pie.
Looks like it is confirmed, you cannot change the camera. I would like to post a new thread asking if someone has cracked this feature, maybe in a root?? I am sure one of you guys can do it!
If ever someone is looking for copper tape it can be had in stores that sell stained glass supplies (tiffany lamps, windows etc) It comes in several widths - I'm sure you can get a few inches for free.

It may not be wide enough... it should be one solid piece.

Apart from the usual 3/16 - 1/4 I've see 6" and 12" wide rolls.
