Hi
I have a 125GB Samsung Evo SD Card installed on my G4 Android 6.0 MM Stock no enhancements and my SD Card shows 120GB used.
I have checked in properties on my PC and it shows the same figure. I have not downloaded or transferred any files to the card.
Anyone know what gives and how to reclaim all this space that I have not used.
If I open the card and click on the Android entry and open properties it shows 36bytes 3 Files and 170 Folders all of which contain
nothing.

Hello,
I´m on a stock ROM, that I have only rooted. Nothing else is done to the phone.
I have been using Android´s built in encryption for both internal and external memory cards, without any issues, since a few months.
When I woke up this morning and started my phone (the battery had died) I couldn´t mount the encrypted external microSD card. I got an error stating that the memory card couldn´t be mounted because it needs at least 1 MB of free storage.
Before I went to bed I started a torrent download on the phone to the external memory card. Apparently that must have filled the whole memory card (I had only 2GB left of free space) and then the battery must have died.
So, the error message says I need to remove some files to "encrypt" (mount) the memory card How do I remove files from the memory card if I can´t mount it? Can I mount the encrypted memory card on a PC with a card reader?
I´m NOT interested in formatting the card since I have invaluable material on the memory card. The most important issue for me is to not loose my data.
Please help me if you have any insight into this problem.

Re: [Q] Unable to mount encrypted external microSD
You rooted?
If yes then try aroma file manager or twrp.
If not try card reader option as well.

Hi,
I am rooted yes. But I have the stock recovery manager as far as I know.
I couldn't find any "Aroma file manager" and don't know what TWRP is. I searched the play store for twrp and found different recovery managers.
Could you be more specific? My problem is that the card won't mount since the system states that it requires at least 1MB free memory on the card. The same card I cannot mount. So as I see it I'm in a catch 22.
Has anyone any knowledge of how to mount a encrypted memory card on a PC? What OS should I use, any particular software?
Thanks...
Ok, I tried using a memory card reader on a windows PC.
The files didn´t look encrypted at all. This is VERY weird. Either the files are individually encrypted or something or they weren´t encrypted at all
I could see all files, their names and the file sizes I removed about a GigaByte of crap and inserted it into my phone again
The phone mounted the memory card without any problems.
So this was actually a non-issue.
Problem solved!

My experience is that files are individually encrypted. You can navidate the directory structure and see all files but cannot open them.
I am using a new SanDisk 32GB card and software version V20H. I downloaded some MP3 files using uTorrent. However, if I select to save the files to the SD card directly, uTorrent gives an error "cannot write to disk" after downloading 10-15%. But when I choose to save to the internal memory, everything downloads fine. So I downloaded them to the internal storage and used the File Manager app to transfer the files from the internal storage to the SD card. However, even that fails after 10-15%. What's going wrong? The card is 100% fine as I can install apps and save pics/videos to it.
I had a similar problem with a Samsung 32GB card - transferring a large file (~1GB) directly to the card using wifi file sharing would fail at some random point, but the same transfer to the internal memory always worked. Copying the file from internal to external SD card also worked. When I switched to another card (Samsung 64GB) the direct file transfer problem disappeared.

In my case even internal -> external is failing. The files are a collection of small mp3 music files. I don't even have a clue to what's going wrong!
Hello,
I just bought a 64 GB Sandisk Micros SD card. I plugged my phone into my computer and copied over all of the SD card contents, i then removed my 32 GB SD card and put in my 64 GB card into my phone reconnected it via USB then transferred everything to the 64 gb card. All other items show up ( music, photos, etc.) , however app will not show up. It just shows the missing app icon. If i use the file explorer on the phone i can see the app. I tried restarting the phone, unmounting and remounting. Can someone please help with why the apps are not showing up or if i missed a step. I am running a ATT Note 4 on 4.4.2.
Thank you in advance i have searched all over the internet for an answer for this.

Did you copy all of the HIDDEN files too??? Look here for the solution http://www.tomsguide.com/forum/id-2545604/move-data-card-samsung-galaxy.html
I recently updated my AT&T LG G4 to 6.0 Marshmallow, and noticed that I could no longer save pictures to my SD card. Upon further inspection, I realized that I couldn't write files nor folders to my SD card, through both apps and manually on my computer. However, I could still read the contents of my SD card. When I then went to format my SD card, I found that I was given an error that /storage/aaaa-aaaa (where aaaa-aaaa is my SD card) could not be found.
Is there anything that I can do to fix this?
Android 6.0.1. Stock ROM. Rooted
For various reasons, I restored, using TWRP, a backup. Everything loaded just fine, but I discovered that my external SD card, with my precious Titanium backups, has disappeared. When I go under settings, Storage, I get shown the Device storage with a listing of how much storage is used, but, under the Portable storage I get shown the SD card as Corrupted, and the USB card, both 128 GB, as corrupted. I previously used the SD card just fine for at least 2 years
So, when click on the Corrupted notice, and get a popup saying "The data on this SD card is corrupt. To use it it must be set up".
When I click on the "SETUP" button, I get an offer to Format as portable storage. I click on the "FORMAT" button, it goes through the motions, and then I get a screen that says "SD card set up Your SD card is ready to be used"
I click on the the "DONE" button, and I get back to the first "STORAGE" screen with exactly the same messages, that the card/drive is corrupted.
I've checked both cards on a PC, and they show up as fine, formated.
I used the program SD Insight directly on the phone, and it shows the one card as Samsung (as labelled), with a model number of 00000, size 129 GB with a manufacture date of Oct 2016. The other card is also read, showing Origin as UNKNOWN, no model number, but the correct size (128 GB) and a manufacture date of Jan 2015. The card is labelled as Lexar 633x
Given that I've used two different connections (ext USB and the internal microUSB slot), I figure it can't be a connectivity issue.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks
