Hey Guys,
I just want to double check before i go ahead with this ota to upgrade to Marshmallow that i have been getting nag screens for.
I am on Lollipop and i got root by extracting a system image and then injecting injecting root and reflashing the image so am i correct in thinking that if i install the OTA over this i would brick the device?
Am i also correct in thinking i need to flash a KDZ file compatible with my device to unroot before i install the OTA??
Thanks in advance for any help/advice given.
Wow.. really nobody has a clue?
U can simply unroot through superSu app or make a clean flash with mm kdz and LG UP

Hi, Im stock rooted, and using recovery that I can lauch only from my PC, not bump one, I can't find this thread now, so I can't restore orginal recovery, I notice that there is new OTA update "L" one, I don't have it yet, but I want to prepare for it. What should I do? This will be enough?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-unroot-ota-using-lg-pc-suite-pc-t2802286
Also do I need to restore orginal recovery to do that? If yes, than someone can help me find this thread?
And one more thing, I downloaded kdz file for new "L" update, can I falsh it with "normal" option and I will not lose any data? If yes, do I also need to unroot and restore stock recovery?
Hi guys,
I just picked up my G3 D85110m from T-Mo. I have a notification for a System Update ( I presume Lollipop) which I have not done.
I see that I can root using PurpleDrake-Lite and stay on KK or go to an L Rom.
I can also it seems update and then get root using this new method for rooting Lollipop.
Is there an advantage or disadvantage to either route?
Thanks for any feed back you can give.

Since it's on 10m, it's a safe bet that the update is to 10r which is not the Lollipop update we are all impatiently waiting on. You can root however you want but it's easier to root 10m and install a custom recovery and then flash the files for 10r in recovery.

Thank you for the reply. I will probably then use PurpleDrake and then Flashify to install TWRP before proceeding to install 10r files or another ROM.

Hi Guys.
Today, the lollipop update for the desire 816 got released and so I want to go back to stock and install the OTA.
I rooted my phone using this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2775801
I installed some custom roms but wanted to go back to the original software with root so I put this rom backup on my phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-816/general/rom-backup-htc-desire-816-single-sim-4g-t2890824
Today , I got a message about an OTA update with version "1.60.707.3"
I wanted to install it, but get this error:
we have determined that your phone may be running a modified version of its system software.
For your protection, we cannot update your phone.
Please revert your phone to the official HTC system software to update your phone.
If you did not modify your system software or would like help reverting your system, please contact us via the support section at www.htc.com.
My question:
How do I get back to stock and be able to install the lollipo OTA update?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Vincent

I have the same issue. This is because you have the firmware for other regions. I like taiwan version and I can not find the drain firmware.
Newbie to rooting.
I'm gonna be exact with what I have.
Stock 4.4.2 (Lollipop available but I don't wanna get stuck in TWRP with an OTA)
TWRP Installed
Rooted G3.
NO, I REPEAT NO CUSTOM ROMS OR FRAMEWORKS.
I'm afraid T Mobile will force me the Lollipop update someday, and if it does, I will always boot into TWRP because TWRP doesn't work with OTA updates.
So... Here is what I want to do... In the easiest way possible.
I want to get TWRP off my phone, unroot my phone, so I can install Official 5.0
OR.... Is there a flashable OFFICIAL Lollipop G3 Zip I can flash using TWRP?
Please be patient with me, I may very well have future questions on this thread. Thanks a lot guys.

Is that not where you should be?

Follow the instructions in this thread to flash the update in TWRP. It's what I did and I dirty flashed without doing a factory reset in birh my wife's and my phone and everything works fine.

Download the kdz and do a clean flash. After that do a factory reset then root and install twrp. You can block lg updates with titanium backup
Hi my friends, I am looking for a STOCK RECOVERY for my LG G Pad F 8.0 AT&T (V495). I was trying to do an OTA upgrade to 6 but after the Download and restart the installation is giving me an error because i am ROOTED. I need to flash stock recovery to be able to install new OTA upgrade to Marshmallow 6. Is someone have a 5.0.2 STOCK Recovery or maybe another idea on how can I do and upgrade to Marshmallow 6 I will appreciate any help. Thanks
Is there a KDZ or TOT available for your variant?
I am in the same boat. I can not find the stock rom anywhere. I would like to upgrade to to 6.0. I am rooted with king root. If the stock rom is not found is there a way to unroot and delete all root files so the update does not detect the root so we can update?

In order to take OTAs (starting with Lollipop) you have to never have been rooted (since the most recent time you've flashed a KDZ or TOT).
Unrooting isn't enough.
