Hi everyone,
does anyone can offer a guidance how to root and unlock the bootloader of a zenfone 2 (ZE551ML) with linux (and not windows virtual machine or wine as alternative)?
Does anyone know how to get a fastboot version for linux on ubuntu which can connect to a intel x86 based smartphone like the ZE551ML? The old and active ubuntu fastboot version 4.2.2 cannot do this.
I hope what I have requested is possible.

Hi good people. Now I know we have pretty much covered how to root the K00z Asus Fonepad 7 ME175CG, both dual and single sim version, but because it took a lot of time and responses, I kinda go lost somewhere along the way.
Now I got my Asus Fonepad 7 ME175CG (Dual Sim Version) two days ago and immediately upgraded to 4.4.2 Kitkat (It came with Jellybean). Now my new build number is KVT49L_WW_Fonepad-V5.3.4-20140626..., Kernel: 3.10.20.
From this point, I need help on:
How to back up my original ROM and setting so that I can revert to it in case of anything.
How to root my device and the tools I need to achieve that.
How to re-install the Android 4.4.2 on my device (or what next after rooting).
What I need to do to ensure that in case of an update, my device does not get bricked.
Any other relevant information on this
Please help me, good people. I am new here, new to Android, but from the little I've learned, in order to maximize on the full potential of my device, rooting is the way to go. THANK YOU!!

I read that it should be possible to sync the band with a computer running VirtualBox and the x86 Version of Android: http://decuro.de/forum/index.php/Thread/950-FAQ-MiBand/
Unfortunately this not works for me. Has anybody achieved this yet?
I have moved all of our devices to A520F and TAB A (2016) runing LineageOS 14.1 and I am very happy with it. The bad side is one of the A520F, which aleady costs me 2 days because wether heimdall nor odin (i setup a windows machine to test it under windows too) replied with an valuable error when trying to flash nougat, except failed. I finally found out the at some version (i think August) it is not possible to downgrade the bootloader. Now I have one device running with an unsupported LineageOS 15.1 and had to hand it out to our Boss, because all other device had their new owners. She is kinda unhappy, that hers is different from others , but we cannot buy more A5's just to maybe receive one with an downgradeable Oreo version and trash all others.
My question is now is there any possibility to work around this and downgrade her phone to Nougat to be able to run 14.1 on it too. Any crack, special keys or whatever.
Thank you very much for any hint.

Not at the moment, but 15.1 won't be too far away.
My experience: Downgrad is possible, but you can't downgrade all parts. Not 100% sure, but just don't downgrade BL.
