Xposed framework without custom recovery? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. (At the first I want to apologise about my bad english...)
I'm just rooted my Galaxy Tab S (SM-T700) With KingRoot. I have replaced Kinguser app with lastes SuperSu. Now I want to Flash zip for xposed framework but I don't have a custom recovery (I don't want to trip KNOX flag)... So my question is - should i Flash a zip for xposed in a Flashfire? If yes - can someone tell me how to Flash it? (With one package I need to chose and how to Flash it)

Flash with flashfire. Plenty of info here and google how to use it.

Can I flash it on pure stock?

No, in order to run xposed you need a rom which is deodexed. The stock rom is odexed.
You can flash a deodex rom with flashfire, tho. it won't trip knox. just be careful with kernels, if you flash another kernel than stock , knox will be tripped to 1.

[Q] Can't Root? What are my options?

I have an i747M, from Fido (rogers) running the stock 4.3 firmware. yesterday i tried to root it using odin to install CWM, and then CWM to install supersu.
after successfully installing supersu, i restarted the phone, and got knox blocking the app. i updated it from Play, but then i couldn't open it, and it said it can't install the binary. when my phone asked to update the security certificates, i (stupidly) agreed.
i downloaded the .zip for supersu 1.89, and tried installing that, with the same result, but this time i also can't uninstall supersu.
i've bumped my binary counter, but i'm back to basically stock now.
my goal is to install aokp. is there a way to do it without gaining root first?
if i install CWM through odin, can i flash the aokp rom from CWM?
will the phone reset the recovery?
is this risky?
You could try installing a pre-rooted Rogers rom from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
I was not able to find a pre-rooted 4.3 for Fido and, since you intend to install a custom rom and recovery, the pre-rooted Rogers ROM might be a good place to start.
It's there a reason to install a rooted rom before aokp? As far as I can tell, I can install aokp without rooting at all.
or am I missing something?

Yes, you can just install a custom ROM without rooting first.
I mentioned the prerooted ROM because you post said you wanted to install su.
Ok, please confirm i have this procedure correct:
1. i use Odin to install CWM
2. boot straight into CWM
3. from inside CWM, i flash the AOKP zip file, and then the gapps zip file
my understanding is that this will keep cwm as my recovery and install aokp with gapps.
am i missing anything?

Just make sure you flash a tar version of CWM that is meant for your phone.
I can't really speak about 4.3 because I'm on 4.1.2 but the method you described is the same method I used.

If you want to kill Konx to enable root you can flash this knox removal script: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2507931
If you are just going to flash AOKP via CWM, this may not be necessary, but this is the answer to your Knox problem.

[Q] Flashed Stock 4.4.2. How to Root?

Hello All,
I recently flashed KitKat 4.4.2 successfully but now I need to re-root. I see dodgy posts about rooting certain ways. Can someone please point me to the right direction in the easiest and safest way to root on KitKat? Thanks!

You can use CF Auto Root to re-root the phone. The only problem is this method will trip the Knox warranty void counter which can't be reset at this time. You flash it through odin and after it roots, you need to disable Knox. To do that, download (or update) SuperSU and when you run it for the first time, it will give you an option to disable Knox for the root to fully work. Finally, you can install the custom recovery. While this is optional, this is strongly recommended. You can use CWM or TWRP by downloading from either ROM Manager or Goo Manager depending on what recovery you want. After doing that, you should have a fully working root
Download CF Auto Root: http://download.chainfire.eu/233/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-d2spr-d2spr-sphl710.zip
You can also flash the SuperSU zip after using Odin to flash a custom recovery (I recommend philz)

Is it safe to flash a rom now?

Was on a stock T-Moible T999 on 4.3 NC2
I rooted using the towel root method and updated the Super SU binarys and it said it would disable KNOX and i pressed YES.
Installed Rom manager from the play store so I could flash CWM Recovery v6.0.4.5
Made a backup of the system image.
Can i flash a custom rom now or will I run into any issues due to being NC2 rom or having KNOX?
Having NC2 or Knox was never an issue, so yes you can flash a custom ROM

Yes, however if you still on warranty it will probably get void.

Will XPosed Framework trigger knox?

Will the xposed framework trip knox 0x1 from the app itself? As long as you don't flash a custom rom/recovery/bootloader anyways.
I've read conflicting things and can't seem to find a direct answer.
Just recently rooted and am on the latest firmware FOL1 Lollipop 5.0 with root and knox 0x0.
Wanted to use a couple modules like AdAway and play youtube in the background. Possibly more assuming knox will stay 0x0.
For now edited the hosts file!
Xposed won't run on Stock Lollipop. A deodexed ROM must be used. So, if you want lollipop and the Xposed Framework, you'll have to trip knox to install a custom ROM, even if it is stock deodexed.

I actually had flashed a stock deodexed OB6 using FlashFire without tripping knox. When I flashed the unofficial framework v 75 with flashfire, it did not seem to work though... I believe I may have needed v71 according to reading a post with a similar issue. Requires another attempt, but for now I've decided to stick with my current setup.

Wow. I wasn't aware it was possible to flash a stock deodexed ROM without tripping Knox.
Wish I had known that before I installed twrp...

Please Help - SM-910P 5.1.1 OK1

I have read, watched many Videos on rooting my Sprint Note 4 5.1.1 on N910PVPS4COK1 , most are from few years past. All I want to do is to Root my Phone, I did flash TWRP 3.1.1-0. I do not want to Upgrade, downgrade or Flash another ROM.
I am confused since some mention that a new Kernel must be flashed and some Just mention to Flash CF Auto Root. Please Help.
Thank you all in Advance.
Most just flash a zip in TWRP recovery to root.
SuperSU is in Google Play but honestly I've not rooted stock from there to day that works but used the recovery zip instead. This link may get you started; read the OP and follow the link to get stable release or read notes. The title will change with latest beta test version but here is a good place to start for SuperSU.

If you're looking to pass safety net, Google search Magisk. SuperSU doesn't support hiding root from Google's safety net but doing so may be dodgy and require frequent updates.
Older methods you find may mention older methods and kernel requirements. I'm not sure if CF Auto Root gets updated with latest SuperSU but it's intended to be a shortcut to root and for those not looking to not Odin TWRP to use a custom recovery.
You've gone the common route, starting with Odin to flash TWRP. You're next step would likely to root with one of the methods above or flash a custom kernel first. There are a few but stock kernel can also be used. I use Beastmode for permissive mode to flash sound modes that include ViPER4Android; permissive kernel is recommended for that one.

Thank you for Quick response, Basically I need to flash a custom Kernel before I flash SuperSu Root. Which Stock Kernel can I use that will allow me to do that. Thank you again

The stock kernel you have would work with SuperSU or Magisk root. Stock kernel is enforcing selinux so it may not fully work as expected with ViPER4Android and maybe some other apps too. The need for permissive kernel impacted lollipop 5.1 and I've used it since then so I'm not having to know which apps are impacted.
If you're interested, Beastmode kernel is in the development forum for Sprint Note 4. Beastmode is very close to stock feel right out of the box without having to tune it; it may improve your battery stats too. The kernels with "r" are Samsung Marshmallow kernels do you'd use the numeric-only ones for Samsung lollipop.

I agree it was a bit of a search to find and not where I recalled it being.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347789588
Flash kernel then SuperSU zip. That should give you root on stock 5.1
I actually have a newer version but it's only had limited testing with a custom 5.1.1 ROM; original links were removed. Other updates were incorporated in custom ROMs. Since this is the only one readily available, try that one if you like. Recommend flashing over stock kernel only and make a full TWRP backup before flashing in case you prefer stock kernel.
If wishing to root stock with stock kernel, flash latest SuperSU.
