Hi guys,
So I was wondering if anyone is even working on the not-so-long-ago released Project Islandwood? Let me now in the replies just so I know what to expect from it or is it dead just like Astoria. Thank you.

Hello I'm writing this behalf of the cracker.
I am pleased to announce an exciting news. I believe we have solved Motorola RSA bootloader by cracking its sign tool. Thus, custom kernel can be built. The cracker wants to work with a developer who knows kernel/rom building. Making long story short, like porting cyanogenmod is possible
Please contact me as there will be a lot of casual replies in the bottom.
Contact Information : [email protected]
Please do not send email if you are not an experienced developer.
This will also solve all motorola's smartphone and is applicable throughout its line-up.

Yipeeeee. . oh god I never thought I will be alive to see this day.
Thank you Cracker and others who made this dream come true
Agreed, more technical details would be nice.
And I'm just wondering, why wouldn't the cracker release the tool/method itself, and instead ask for collaboration with other developers?
Please, put this thread in the developpement section !
So sorry, please wait a moment.
I am really appreciate for concerning. He said he needs time little bit to arrange something. I will tell the progress ASAP
I hope it's not a fake....
He will give you guys more details. It's a lot of work for one man to handle, therefore, requires other enthusiasts who can collaborate.
I can also tell you that those of you who thinks that it is too good to be true, well, I am pretty confident that he knows what he is doing. He actually made some changes to exisiting rom for Korean users. He can't speak English well, so I will be his proxy.
We will release more details, and once I get up my post up to 10, I will officially start a new thread in the development corner.
Wow this will be great!
You've got mail....
sent from my moto defy with taptalk
seeing is believing.
WOW!!
For real????
wow good news, i have faith so thanks to the cracker( good name jeje )
FANTASTIC
OH MY GOD
Good to know. Hopefully will see something useful soon
Great ! Hope it's not a fake !!!
If I understand well you don't crack bootloader but the sign tool.. right ?
Does it mean we'll be able to sign any custom bootloader with a private key ?
Hi, this would realy cool!If this is true, you where the best , a hero for all motorola friends!
This would the greates for this community (defy and other devices) and we get oure freedom back! The think about android!
Thanks!
Can I suggest you make contact with the Cyanogen Team?
They can actually make decent use of the Kernel Signing and we can hopefully have a port of Cyanogen 6.1 or 7.
I agree the cm team would be good to contact about this. This is great news
May God bless you ^__^
Hello P930 Devs,
Thank you for the great work so far. Things seams to be pretty stagnant for our phone waiting for CM9 stable and official ICS release.
A little background. I work for a PCB assembly shop and stumbled upon the AOKPCB ROM reading through other device's forums on XDA. I would love to port this ROM to our phone however I have no knowledge or experience to do this.
I was wondering if one of you would be willing to take this up as a project? I would be very grateful and will help in any way I can. Or hold my hand while I try and do this myself (I have no idea where to start ).
I've also contacted the ROM's team for support.
Thank you in advance for anyone willing to help.
Already supported LG devices:
LG Optimus 2X (p990)
LG G2x (p999)

Thanks NO!NO!. It's good to know that some work has been done for the AOKP on our phones. However it seams that that thread/ROM hasn't had any activity in a while.
I would love to pick up where they left off. However, as I mentioned before I'm not a developer and have no idea where to start but I am willing to learn.
I have little experience with porting OSs, but I am a developer and experienced with computers. Anybody wants to join me?
I but I'm near a noob in android

Hey everyone!
Just wanted to ask a couple questions and start another discussion thread for those of us that have Oreo installed on our devices.
Questions:
With twrp on oreo, what's the status on the flashable version?
Anyone currently or thinking about creating new roms, kernels, etc for the device?
Lastly, what are some things that the nondevs here can do to help us all out?
Hope to see some good discussions
Thanks in advance!
Idk anything about the status of TWRP, so I can't help you there. Overall, I know there was an effort to get a device to a dev, and it was successful. Invisiblek now has one. Looks like he's working on lineage, which is super awesome.
The device now has a repo on the lineage github, so you can see work is being done. As for a timeframe, no clue, just have patience and know that it'll be released once it's ready. We're fortunate that Moto has already updated us to Oreo and it's a pretty stock interface. Only way they could've done better in my view would have been to update the device to support project treble, but that's an entirely different story.
That's about all I know, hope it helps somewhat.
Patience indeed. It'll move along at some point. Next to Sony, I think Moto has one of the cleanest implementations of Android, so it's definitely bearable.
Plus, with the price dropping into "steal" territory, I see more smart ppl coming this way.
Yea thank you guys! I'm being as patient as can be and I just wanted to have a thread here were any and all of us curious folks can have a place to talk about the upcoming of this device and the near future development holds for it. I didn't know it was on lineages repo so that's awesome to hear! That's a perfect example of why I created this post, just to spread the word into one forum and just have a couple chats with everyone about the moto.
Cheers guys, hope to hear more from others too!
Hey everyone,
I know the development for this phone is starting to evolve slowly which is wonderful to see, and the R8Pro is a GSI certified phone... With that said, does anyone think it would be possible to port PostmarketOS to this device?
Just wondering.
