I was trying to avoid download whole 1.4G. People use to be more helpful.
Anyways for anyone who wants to remove carrier branding. Copy attach files in same structure with any root permission file explorer. Change permissions to rw- r-- r--.
Attaching stock boot animation files and sound.

Ashyx is one of the most helpful and knowledgeable people on the forum. He gave you a simple answer that for most of us would be more than enough given how few seconds it takes to download 1.4gb files. You asked for the file and if no one posted it I think it is kind when someone posts a response on how to get it. You might not want to be so dismissive and rude to one of the people who provides countless answers to others on here. Just my two cents...one could say people used to not be so lazy you know.

It was not pointed at Ashyx. Rest is self explanatory. Not everyone has fast connections and unlimited bandwidth.

Taken from the captivate forums:

Just to give some info on what this is:
This is the 'libwebcore.so' file taken from the Galaxy Tab, and appears to be much better optimized than the stock one on the Captivate. The I9000 libwebcore is probably the same as the Captivate one, so this fix should work just fine for us too. libwebcore.so is the main library used by the browser to render pages (not javascript, just the html itself). It's the "core" library of WebKit HTML.
So basically: it is a very good idea to do this fix!
EDIT: Woops!
The browser is aslmost the only part where I didn't notice any lag on my SGS (rooted and lagfixed). By the way if it's relatevely safe I might give it a try. Thanks for the tip and info!
I screwed up my phone doing this
dxjp1 libwebcore.so filesize is 5,182,976 bytes, slightly different from the galaxy tab libwebcore.so of 5,187,072 bytes.
For info, the website browsing of dxjp1 was pretty smooth, even when flash is set to always on.
p/s : i uploaded the libwebcore.so in case others wants to try it too.
just unzip and place it in the /system/lib/ folder.
happy comparing.
Thanks, will try it later on
Well, I've loaded this up on my phone and set file permissions per the post and it seems to work well. Not sure how much better it is than the stock one but it's always fun trying something new.!
Thanks. It works on the ZUJP2 firmware. The file is EXACTLY the same size, but are different (I did an MD5 hash to check).
Could this work on eclair?

use root explorer (available in the market) to replace the file. but before that, please make sure you backup your original .so file somewhere.
as to the setting of permission, root explorer would be able to do that, or alternatively, issue an adb command, which was found in the link posted in the first post.

I copied it in and set permissions and now my phone vibrates and internet crashes...
I copied the old one in... and it crashed also ?? strange ...

There are mods for this. You could just use Omega ROM 5.0 and it already comes with the tweak so that more than 5 contacts can be joined.

At first there was no such file. I copied over /etc/feature_default.xml and pasted as /system/csc/feature.xml and made changes to above line as well as sms to MMS convert limit. Neither worked. Its as if the app doesnt even read the files. Any ideas?

If you don't have the file, copy from ROM that have csc so you won't alter the syntaxes inside the the file that set features..
What rom that you use? I implement it in couple of rom without hassle. Maybe you should try with rom that contains csc. Open it with 7zp or winzip and edit the related file.
Sorry for my english...

Are your ROM rooted? what ROM version ?
Anyway, attached is the requested file in zipped format. Just extract and then copy to /system/csc and set permission (644, or RW R R)

Can anyone fill me in on details of how to edit java executable files? I would like to remove the GPS icon from the notification bar in the ROM I am using and the best I could come up with is this: The file I need to change is in system/framework/services.jar
Better yet, does anyone have a flashable zip with an edited services file that has no GPS icon? I would like one that works with Sense 3.0 ROMs.
If you use gimp or photoshop its pretty easy just make the GPS.png file or what ever its named in the framework-res.apk and make it transparent.
Then zip the app and sign it with a META-INF signer.

Or you could replace the picture itself with an empty picture so that when GPS is on and so are other radios, there won't be a random empty space there. Also, to explain how to edit the "java executable", let me explain how java works
So the reason that java is great is that its cross platform. But how? So when a .jar file is created, that's actually not 100% compiled itself, its more like 60/70% of the way there. And that's where the JRE comes in. When you open a .jar file, the code is compiled the rest of the way into bytecode that the specific OS its running on can interpret.
So there is really no such thing as a "java executable". The "jar" format is basically just a ZIP file with partially compiled code, so what you need to do is extract all the files from it (use 7Zip or something) and then get a .class decompiler (I recommend JD-GUI, its free and one of the best out there. It also has an option to decompile all the files into .java files and packages it into a .zip) and then just look at the source code. The problem is to find where exactly the GPS icon is set up, because when you decompile it, its going to be a huge mass of folders and folders and folders of files

Thank you very much for your reply. The information I originally found pointed me in the wrong direction. I found the images I want to edit in the data\sysapp\SystemUI.apk\res\drawable-hdpi. There are five .png files all starting with names like sym_gpsone_0_sprint.png. I've included some below.
All of the other modifications I have made to the ROM I am running involved using m10 and the fusion.apk or the Idlescreen_Base.apk. I know how to make those changes work on my phone. If I alter the .png images in the SystemUI.apk, I know how to zip it again, but I could use some instructions on how to sign it with a META-INF signer.

Thank you everyone who replied and tried to help me out. After searching around some more, I managed to make the modifications work.
Damn, ain't things easy once you know what you're doing? Anyhow, the results are below. No more GPS icon whether the GPS is on or off now.
Thanks again.

I think it is odexed (stock nordic LSD downloaded from sammobile and flashed with odin)
edit. Maybe we should forget whole thing if that file doesn't work. I can live with that lag and don't wanna bother you if my file is incompatible and can't get it work
To modify your file i would have to deodex-it/modify/odex-it back and i dont have time for that. If you want you can install a stock doedex lsd rom

I didn`t try aokp so i can`t answer you on that.

Btw this is where to put the new boot animation files in EMUI 4 roms
bootanimation.zip /system/etc/media
bootsound.ogg /system/media/audio/animationsounds
rw- r-- r-- for both and it's recommended to just rename the old ones not deleting them
UPDATE: not working. Almost tried everything and still not working. The device boots without any boot animation just black screen
