Sm-T520 and Kill Shot Bravo? - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 Q&A, Help & Trouble

I've been hooked on this game called Kill Shot Bravo its plays fairly good on my phone.
Ive tried numerous attempts to play it on SM-T520 pro 10.1 with a clean install of CM 12.1 nightly and/or resurrection final. Every time it crashes at the game logo of HotHead.
I wanted to try it on a old 4.4 rom but can't find one that works..
I cannot get Grave Ds 4.4 to boot and I've tried using both kernals.
Can someone give me a suggestion possibly to another rom to try or verify if the game is working for them?
Thank you

Same thing for me. I have the sm-t520 running latest cm12.1 and the game crashes on the logo.
If you want to try out Grave rom, just flash the rom and then before you try to reboot, just flash the stock kernel for the sm-t520. So in another word flash rom, flash stock kernel, reboot system and let it sit 5 minutes. This is what I did for Grave rom to work on my tab, every other kernel didn't work on my sm-t520.

@coco1476
So in the end KSB does run on Grave 3.0?

Bychance seen that stock kernal you used ? I tried 2 different ones.
And did you go Grave via TWRP from CM
Or did you Odin stock and goto grave?

I used this stock kernel from GraveD thread https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95784891001617139
I odin stock before flashing GraveD, rooted with chainfire, installed twrp recovery. Booted in twrp recovery, flashed GaveD rom, flashed stock kernel and rebooted system and everything was running perfect.

Sorry I tried the game on cm12.1 only, i am not sure if it would play on GraveD rom but I would say it would play since GraveD was close to stock without bloat and some tweaks to it.

Appreciate your info! Thank you!

Glad to help. I have spent days on my tab a couple of months ago trying to get GraveD rom to work and the only way to get it to boot correctly was with stock kernel. Last week I flashed cm12.1 to give it a run because I was getting tired of a stock look but I might go back to GraveD for better battery

Roger…
Sadly I can't Odin back to Stock for a couple weeks out on business. Heard previously coming from cm to Grave didn't work well just trying to do it through TWRP had to start from scratch.
I really like Ressurection 12.1 final was smooth and fast. Battery life seemed good when in airplane mode w/ screen 50 to 75%… multiple hours of movies on a airplane without a charge.
Ive been playing KSB on my Note 3 with beansrom 2 and its flaky.
I put KSB on a Note 2 with CM12.1 and it runs beautiful.
Just wished it would work on my T520…
Its always something lol ?

Why don't custom kernels work on CM10 for me? Did I root wrong?

I really wanna use this kernel/custom kernels, but I give up! Constant force closing and crashes for me Now I'm wondering, did I do something wrong during the root process? I rooted my device a couple weeks ago using this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1771687 (Root without tripping flash counter), followed by flashing Team Sonic's TouchWiz Rom, and then now, recently as of a little over a week ago I started using Cyanogen Mod 10. Did I miss a step in between which is causing so many problems with installing a custom kernel on my phone? Lean kernel worked earlier around the 8/20-25 nightlies, but now everything's pretty much a bust
It's a T-Mobile GSIII
No you didn't do anything wrong. A lot of the kernels aren't updated as fast as kernel changes in CM. Have you tried the latest nightly with the latest LK?

I've tried all the latest kernels. Every kernel I've tried is compatible with the ROM I've tried it on.

if it was me, which btw am running CM10/LeanKernel, I would use odin to flash back to a rooted stock app, then install NEWEST CWM, and try again, I have had no issues EVER using the combo's that you are using. Also, I NEVER flash a kernel on a new rom until the rom has booted correctly, then reboot and flash whatever compatible kernel.
Good Luck.

Okay I'll do that, but tell me this. How did you come to CM10 exactly? What steps did you do? I want to see if you did something different from me and I may have sent wrong somewhere.
I simply rooted installed freegs3, wiped data and caches and all, then I flashed cm10. Was that the wrong way? Should I go back to stock and restart the process? Because right now for one, custom kernels are giving me strange issues. Also, a ktoonz kernel dev told me my log cat pointed towards corrupt partition or Rom, but I'm using cm10
How do I go back to stock basically? Can you link me to some guides and/or videos? I'm on the T-Mobile galaxy s3. The reason I ask is because I'm mobile and can't search for some reason but I'd like to read up on it before I do it

I started here, READ EVERY LINE in a separate window, so you can reference back in forth between the windows. And do it STEP BY STEP. Once you are rooted and using the stock rom, back that up, so you can revert back to if you crash, once you have those 2 done, get the newest copy of Clockwork, install it. (by the way, the flash counter will tick you using Odin) so make sure you wipe the tick counter before installing any custom roms. Now get CM10 from the thread, install, do not flash the kernel until you have booted the first time, then reboot to recovery and flash kernel of choice. then your set. Now these are MY DIRECTIONS ONLY! and worked for me. So anyone want to add, feel free, or if I missed something, but do NOT slam me for trying to help, again this worked for me, may not for others, but it has been flawless for me. Hope this helps good luck.

Thanks for the input! I just wiped everything properly, other than odining back to stock again because that wasn't really necessary I thought since I did everything right, maybe? Well, I don't know lol. I don't have time to go back to stock atm, so I wiped all things including external/internal sd, used superwipe and just flashed a touchwiz rom, by xquizit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1843409 UVALH2 and flashed the kernel for touchwiz by ktoonz and it is running smooth and solid. So, now, I'm going to go back and flash CM from scratch superwiping and all because I have now confirmed ktoonz's kernels work, and for some odd reason it wasn't working with my CM setup, so I'm going try it again from start and see if it works on CM, and go from there. I'll report back either ways in case anyone is having this problem. If I still have the same issue back on CM, I'll live with it or come back to touchwiz. I kinda like it Weird. Haha, but either ways, I'll keep yall updated! I'm wondering if I need to/should flash the UVALH2 radio/baseband since I"m on a UVALH2 ROM though.
Use this kernel it works perfectly on CM10

Now I am a tad confused, you have UVALH2 on the phone already, and you want to flash UVALH2? or did you typo? I am no dev, but from what I have been seeing, the radio should not matter at the moment, if I am wrong, someone please set me straight, also, I will be on the web all night and tomorrow, so I will help where ever I can, I will check here for your progress. Good luck my friend.
BTW, I do not like stock roms, so to me CM10 is for sure better. Faster also.
There is no wrong way to root. I bought my phone, didn't even set it up. Downloaded the toolkit, rooted and flashed a custom recovery, then flashed CM10. You didn't miss any steps, and you didn't do anything in the wrong order.
Your radio and ROM do NOT have to match.

Yeah, I know all this, but I wanted to ask in case I may have missed something. Even when you're pretty Android savvy when it comes to rooting and whatnot, you do miss things on occasion. In this instant I didn't, but I was hoping I did because a bunch of custom kernels won't work on my phone with CM10! Trinity worked well, so I'm waiting for those. It must be some specific chip related issue because I'm not the only one. Anyways, thanks everyone!

[Solved] Phone bricked... help?

Hello,
I just installed the CM10.2 ROM on my SGH-T989 T-Mobile Galaxy S2 after having installed the Slim Bean (I think it's called), Jedi MindTrick, and AOKP so I already have the idea on how to boot a new rom already kinda experienced but I was gonna flash Gapps after installing CM10.2 and when I was gonna go into recovery it just didn't wanna boot up! I have very, very, important stuff including pictures, videos, and school projects so i would be very grateful to anyone that would please help me! At the moment, it's looping on the Samsung logo...
Just in case this helps I'm putting it in (but u already know this stuff anyways)
* CM10.2 made it so I have my own custom start up screen
* It also implemented its own charging battery icon when it's turned off
I really don't know if any of these features have anything to do with it but if someone could hand me like an updated/custom odin for that specific rom it would be great!
I have tried following the instructions given by techfanatic9 at YouTube indicating to go to download mode via USB, launch odin, and then use a .tar file called recovery-cwm-hercule but when it's done it just passes the Samsung logo and stays black.
If you need any more info I would gladly give out any!
BTW, I did wipe data/cache before installing the ROM those are the basics anyways

Hmmmm it doesn't sound hard bricked because it wouldn't start up at all if it nor would it go into download mode, you may have to take a hit on your storage and erase your SD.. can you get into your open recovery? Also as a disclaimer 10.2 is is very early alpha as team chopsticks is still working out their kinks and have said the 10.2 early roms have a likely hood of bricking the phone and messing with partitions.. very important to read thru the thread on very early rom threads.. report back and let me know

Well, I can boot up the CWM-based Recovery. When I reboot the phone from recovery it gets stuck on the Cyanogenmod loading screen which comes like 3 minutes after the Samsung one I mentiong aboved.
EDIT: Can I flash another rom? Will that fix it? I was thinking on trying Darkside but I'm scared on trying anything...
EDIT#2: I also have Jedi MindTrick backed up as well as AOKP if that helps

Its cwm recovery I'm 99% sure.. its known for not liking our device try twrp 2.6.. I haven't used cwm in forever but basically wipe everything but your SD cards.. flash over a 4.1.2 based rom.. try rushes shadow rom and boot.. also im not sure if cwm had the capabilities but in recovery hook your computer up to a pc mount your sd and copy files from your phone to your pc.. don't be scared to flash another rom especially sense its probably the reason for you not booting up<<<<--- this reason is why I have so many roms downloaded on my extra SD.. if I get stuck on a rom I wipe everything but my SD like 4 times flash the rom and kernel twice to make sure it sticks ex(flash rom re flash rom, wipe delvic and cache, flash kernel reflash kernel) usually works eveytime

Just a word to say that my E980 got softbricked just after flashing the new [20140920]VUPMP.GPRO.sG3.Stable from datphu2811 ROM .
I did not restore stock rom before flashing. I came from CM 10.2, did wipe every cache and flashed from CWM recovery.

Good stuff! If you're in the business of stock ROMs I suggest Bountyman's G3 port, it's really nice if you can get the darn thing to deep sleep. Otherwise if you're looking at CM11 ROMs, Beanstalk, PAC, and Gummy are great choices. Along with the E980 Kernel+

Thanks for the tips. I am looking for the most stable ROM, but yet recent enough. I have been happy with CM 10.2 for 6 months or so, but now I am starting to get problems (battery "leaks", power button not always responding) so I figured that I would check on the latest. I will try the G3 ports as they may be better adapted to the hardware capabilities of the G Pro (e.g.: Quick memo button).
I have seen my error by reading the later posts with the ROM that soft bricked my phone. I needed to select Phil's recovery instead of keeping mine during installation. I'll give another try.
I flashed a couple of ROMs in the past and have become too comfortable. I had no idea that I could brick a phone and yet recover it! Thanks engineers of the world for that last line of defense!
EDIT: Even with Philz recovery and going from the stock ROM, I always soft-brick my phone with datphu2811's ROM. I'll try Bountyman now.

I managed to install TWRP instead and install the ROM (Bounty's) but got other problems with LG's logo screen stuck. Finally, I also got it solved by flashing this modem instead of this one. Both were put in the instructions.
This is by far the most difficult rom installation I have ever made, and I installed quite a few in the past!

Yeah the G3 ROM doesn't like to boot without Mack's kernel, and the modem is nice with deep sleep.
Just a question, what ROMs have you flashed in the past?

Stuck on Noterized rom and aosp. Battery life is horrible.

I was happy with it and it had great battery life but I wanted xposed so I found a tutorial for sprint note 4 lollipop. after i flashed xposed my phone got stuck in a boot loop and i didn't have a backup. i tried to Odin back to stock but that kept failing, i gave up and flashed noterized rom through TWRP. now i want to got back to stock or at least get a different rom (maybe Vision or hybrid i tried both) but i tried flashing a couple of different rom but they never work, my phone just keeps rebooting (goes to "Samsung galaxy note 4 powered by android" screen and then restarts i tried waiting 30 mins but no luck) however i am able to flash an AOSP rom but i don't like them i really like TW. what can i do to restore to stock, downgrade to 4.4.4, or flash vision rom?
for battery life i tried restarting, factory restore, clearing cache and dalvic cache, and formatting everything and re-flashing the rom but nothing seems to work.
if you have any question or need more information please ask. any help is appreciated

Youre stuck on Noterized. Enjoy.
No way out? What if somone gives me their back up?
I was stuck i tried different stock tar files from different sources. Finally found one that work the other tar files kept failing in odin. Your not stuck just go online and find the solution yourself . If it's not affecting anybody else they careless if you fix it man and that's with life too just sayin . Good help hard to come by nowadays
Might wanna go through the Q&As and rethink your post. As to avoid contradicting your post all together, could you at least provide a link to the file that got you unstuck to help in the first place.
I pm'ed the guy already

so what I did was root using odin installed twrp from the playstore and flashed the twrp recovery from the app. once I had recovery I flashed a stock rom from the forum in twrp. that booted up fine then I hooked my phone into the pc and open kies to see if it reconized my phone and it did so I hit the tools tab at the top of the program and clicked on firmware upgrade and initialization and it stared updating my phone back before the oel update

I have a update I flashed off of stock and went back then flashed cm12 and the method I used earlier didn't work I was stuck for 2 hours. I flashed a tw rom in twrp when it finished installing I pulled the battery and flashed the modem from bob firmware and bootloader before I restarted the phone I found a bootloader and modem from bob firmware on the forum flashed both and both failed but from what I cant tell it installed enough for the phone to reboot on back on tw and from there I used kies to get back on stock 2nd time bringing it back very long process just finding the right solution

So you were actually able to downgrade from OE1? What stock rom did you flash that actually booted up? Thanks.
Yeah i was on hybrid x. I saw someone needed help so i tried to mess my phone up to replicate what the guy did yes the method i used earlier works but only if your on a tw rom . So i flashed cm12 and was stuck before i got back on touchwiz yeah i see what people mean you can't flash ****. So i went to twrp flashed hybrid x didnt restart phone i pulled battery and went to odin and flashed the bob bootloader tar and modem tar i found on the forum i flashes both they both failed but one of them flashed about 75% on odin and i rebooted and tw was back then i went to kies upgraded to stock now back on stock. Unzip these and flash in odin https://www.dropbox.com/s/cvkynp4kmkw8f8c/bootloader lolipop and modem.zip?dl=0 hope this help but if you live in Rockford ,illinois i could just fix it for you

I personally havent been on OE1. A few people who havent been plagued by this horrible and unnecessary update have been trying to help those who have and are. The guy i mentioned at the bottom(of the post you quoted), those were his steps. But it seems some of the information has changed since that post. Look above this post and he explains the differences whether on TW or non TW rom.
One thing Samsung is telling us though through their actions, if theyre pushing out updates and its not over a GB, i wouldnt take it, or I'd at least wait until seeing the ramifications of the update through other users taking it, which there will always be.

I think I did can't really remember mate, I think it was the kernal I had a custom one and caused the bootloop. Flashed the stock boot image and it did work afterwards. Honesty I ditched it after 2 days running dirty unicorns now, in my opinion it's the best custom rom out there for now, I even flashed it to my N6 running perfectly fine check it out and make sure u don't have xposed install you can have some issues, just check it out and read the thread you'll be fine ????????

Im running PA with xposed and elementalx and its smooth as silk. My issue, I think, is my device was unencrypted and its been so long that I havent used a custom kernel that i forgot about it. I flashed the new AOSPA without elementalx to test out the stock kernel and i think it tried to encrypt. When it took too long for the first boot, i manually rebooted the device and that borked the data so i had to do a factory reset and lose all my data. Pain in the ass, but im diggin this rom.
