Remove root keep appdata - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my phone using low effort root and have used it for around half a year, this morning when I tried to login to snapchat after reinstalling the app ot gave me the infamous "Oh no!" message. I've tried everything recommended on xda and other various forums including removing xposed and reinstalling snapchat, now I'm thinking of completely removing my root, attempting to log in to snapchat and if that works re-root my phone.
Therefore I'm wondering if there is a way to remove the root for the lg g4 and keep my data for example games and apps etc.
(If you have any other tips about the snapchat issue they are also highly appreciated.)
Thanks in advance!

[Q] Dark Knight Rises issue

Hello, mates!!
I have a little problem with Dark Knight game in my unrooted Galaxy Note 8 (4.2.2)
About months ago i had version 1.1.3 installed and worked just fine, but i had to delete it because i needed internal storage space.
This week i tried to install it again, but when i start new game and tryin to play intro video, the game freezes (black screen with only skip icon showing but inactive).
Had someone the same problem? Is there a fix?
I have tried almost every version but the same things happens.
So it's probably the android version or some settings fault since i used to play this game...

Run saferoot and root your device. You can get it on the Easy way to root.. thread.
Once you root, download Ti backup and have it uninstall orphan apps. Somewhere in the system there are files that are left over from your game.
Safe root will not flash increment your counter so performing stock update will function normally. The only issue is Samsung Book Hub will not run in rooted devices. You can hide the root using substrate and Rootcloak to allow apps that do detect rooting to function.
If you are not willing to saferoot... then backup your apps and settings with Kies, and do a factory reset of your system. Then restore your apps and settings before installing your game.
If the game still does not run properly after any of the options I gave, then it is possible you are side-loading part of the app. Some apps like Samsung's Link will not side load properly without permissions and data properly transferred.
Since your not rooted at this time, doing any manual work to fix the issue will not be an option..

Wow, thanks for your advice... I don't feel like rooting this baby for a while.. but i will try factory reset when i find time to.
I'm not sure i understood what side-loading is... but i'm 100% sure that somewhere in the system there are files that are left over. I wish i could find them or perhaps a Kitkat update sometime soon maybe help. Anyway, i'm going to try new games and then come back with this...

Snapchat, Snapchat, Snapchat....help please

So, i've used Snapchat on both
Stock (5.1.1 - Oi1 Rom) and Custom Rom (Renegade)
I can't seem to get it to work on the custom rom, i've always had to use the stock rom and it would work just fine, but on the other it would say "temporarily logged out" or something different, but when i boot back to stock, its fine and doesn't hesitate to say that.
Am i missing something here?? i've already tried resetting my password 5 times to be sure.
Snapchat 9.1.17.1.0 -- Xposed Snapprefs 1.6.2
Snapchat and Root
I don't use Snapchat, but this might explain your issue:
http://www.xda-developers.com/snapchat-is-at-it-again-and-blocks-root-users-but-for-how-long/
Snapchat detects Root and stops working, XDA builds a work-around into Xposed, Snapchat puts out a new patch and repeat.
Found something new: Try updating to Snapprefs 1.6.4. And you will find more help here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-snapprefs-ultimate-snapchat-utility-t2947254
Thank you!
I've actually ended up researching and figuring it outmyself my way or work around.
Snapchat checks or scans to see if "Xposed" which leads me to not log in.
So in order to use Snapchat with Snapprefs or 3rd party, you would need to either
Install stock and root it, then log into snapchat with the latest version and then go to recovery to install xposed.
or
Install stock and root then boot to recovery to install the custom rom and do no install xposed framework.
Once done with booting up and setting up, install snapchat latest version, log into it and then install xposed.
once thats done download 'xinstaller' and check to enable downgrading and updating and then install 'snapprefs' for all the
juicyness of customizations.
Profit!
My configuration.
Snapchat -
9.17.1.0
Xposed -
75 wanam 20151008 - seems to work best for me on both roms instead of v79.
Snapprefs -
1.6.2

I found a work around for it my phone died and I signed into my sc from another device used it and logged off when I tried signing in on my phone I got temp login failure notice this is what I did to get back on:
On a second device, download latest version and sign into Snapchat
Once done, root second device and download titanium backup
Make a back up of Snapchat from second device and send the .tibkp back up or whatever to the first device
On first device download latest version of snapchat and titanium back up and restore the data only from the file you sent to the first device from the second device
Once done use sc like normal
Works fine unless you sign out from Snapchat on the second device so what I did is I froze Snapchat on the second device and erased the back up.
Why does Snapchat do this? Does anyone have any idea why?

They make a silly app with an unenforceable premise, the app sucks and they block third-party alternatives, their security is awful, their background data drain is known to go nuts, and now they are blocking root users so they can better charge you for replays??
But still they can't tame the root..

Snapchat login failed temporarily on Viper10 3.2.0

I'm currently on Viper10 3.2.0, just did a completely fresh new install, wiped everything. Snapchat keeps giving me a login error, saying "Failed to login temporarily". Does anyone know what the issue is? I've read that Snapchat doesn't work with root phones, but I can create a new account just fine. Not only that, but I don't have any root-like apps that would be disallowed for things like Snapchat. I don't have Lucky Patcher, I don't have Freedom, etc. I don't know what to do and I really want to get back on my account. Can anyone help me please? When installing Viper10 3.2.0, I chose Stock and made sure to remove AdAway and such, in case Snapchat detected that, but it's still not working.
EDIT: I looked up the solution everywhere, and people keep saying to uninstall the "Xposed Framework". Well, I don't have that installed. I don't have any root apps installed except for the default ones that come with Viper10 3.2.0, which are Venom Tweaks, Venom HUB, and SuperSU. That's all.
You can't use SnapChat on rooted phones, as far as I know of.
And that's all of your problem. Viper 3.2.0 comes prerooted with SuperSU. SnapChat will detect it, and thus won't work.
I'm not using SnapChat myself, bit heared of a root Jack. Maybe you should search XDA and Google for it, to find more information about it.

I have the exact problem that you have, and was told multiple times to uninstall the framework. the only thing that confuses me is before Viper 3.0.0 Snapchat worked perfectly.
I have the same problem, but if it comes to a choice Snapchat or root.... Well snapchat doesn't stand a chance lol I uninstalled snapchat and problem was gone lol enjoy my rooted HTC 10 with exposed and everything

Huawei Mediapad M2 A01W Rootin Help

Just bought a demo tablet from work and have had problems trying to get the retail demo app removed 'Liszt'
I have managed to disable the app, however this only works temporarily, as soon as you restart the tablet you have to go through the whole process of disabling again.
I have tried factory reset.
I have tried Kingo Root through a computer, it said it had succeeded however did not install SuperSu so obviously did not root properly. I have tried installing SuperSu through google play store however whenever you go into it it just comes up with 'SU Binary Occupied' so something obviously isn't correct.
I have installed 'System App Remover (ROOT)' an when opening the app it seems to think that it has rooting capabilities however when trying to uninstall Liszt it just says that it has failed.
I am pulling my hair out here trying to get this sorted and every tutorial or online info on this tablet is outdated and has links that just go absolutely nowhere, so please do not just send me to another thread where all the information and files are just non existent as you just cant follow it.
Anyone out there with previous experience in either rooting this tablet or removing 'Liszt' let me know what options I have.
Thanks in advance!

Phone died, then root and other things stopped working

PHONE: HTC10
ROM: LEEDROID_10_V3.0.0 BETA3-R7
SAFETY:1 NOV 2016
NOUGAT
2.28.401.8.8.0_G ...
i have been using this since 2016, i never had any problems with device apart from phone rebooting upon reaching battery level. Yesterday it reached battery level, died, rebooted, and my Sense home stopped working, fb stopped working , i needed to get permissions again for every app again . My root doesnt seem to work anymore,i get magisk tick, but for example i cant get busybox to Allow root access for apps like Lucky patcher
i tried: turning it off and on again, rebooting, quick booting. No change
what caused this?what do i do? I cant use sense since it keeps FC,im using the crappy google launcher now. I fixed FB and messenger FCing by deleting and redownlding them.
Ok small update, i fixed the apps and sense home not working. All i had to do was a tedious but simple process of uninstall and reinstalling every app. Some apps wouldn't FC, but couldn't do things like Spotify search or login.
I still need suggestions for root, how do I re-root the phone? It's been too long since I did hacks. I assume it'll be by flashing from CMW/recovery?
You can probably dirty flash the Leedroid rom and see if it helps. Better to ask in the Leedroid thread though
