Have someone tried this ?

If I understand correctly this would be useful if you add this as secondary ROM and use it with keyboard mouse and monitor like normal OS.
Unfortunately I can't test it now, because my nexus is not here :\ at the moment..

Can somebody make a TWRP backup and upload it, so that I can flash in multirom. A similar thing has been done for the 2012 Nexus 7 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7/general/phoenix-os-nexus-7-grouper-t3299266

Hello, does nobody have a working Phoenix OS? Just make a TWRP backup and upload it. It will help everyone without a working USB port.
I would do it but it takes me 24 hours to download
I'm trying to download it. But it is downloading at 6kb/sec. Says it will take 19 hours. But constantly fails. I wish someone mirrored it. I am curious anyone else who downloaded, was it slow for you?
Slow speed magically got fixed

It was slow for me for a few hours. Then all of us sudden as I reached about 35%, the speed boosted to 2MB/s and it just finished downloading. Now I gotta upload a twrp backup right? I'm not sure how though

Yeah I got it slowly using 'wget' which does resume downloads. But I tried the x86/PC not arm/flo. The OS is not open-sourced and the English version still has components in Chinese. I prefer the original http://www.android-x86.org/ for PCs.

After installing the ROM, go to TWRP. Select backup, and choose system, boot and data. The backup file will be located at TWRP/BACKUPS. Upload this file. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any doubt.

But you could dual boot the way I did. First I install Phoenix. Then I install multirom. Then I install Pure Nexus as secondary ROM. The problem is, if I upload backup, I signed up with Google and other accounts on it
Just don't select data while backing up

If you don't select "Data" in TWRP backup, your backup will only have the clean os (without any of your accounts, settings or files)

I had a backup of stock before root but when i tried to back up to it today it gave me a md5 mismatch so i couldnt back up to it. From what I seen in beaups thread that I need to be on a stock rom and stock kernal for his s-off method to work. Is there a stock rom that I could flash to use the s-off method?
I'd like this answered as well. I think andy's stock rom near the bottom of the page works, but I haven't had a confirmation yet. Also wondering if odex versus deodexed versions matter.
Same boat im in just waiting for somebody to say which one we can use when we are already rooted and unlocked. I dont know how my md5's mismatched on my stock before root backup but I can't go back to it so Im kinda stuck here until we get a answer.

Just heard andy's bonestock works trying it myself to confirm.
EDIT: Downloading the 1.1 download not the newest. Under old downloads. I would think the more stock the better.

SUPER MEGA ULTIMATE DISCLAIMER: IIRC = IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF THIS DOESN'T WORK/SCREWS UP YOUR DEVICE/BRICKS/ETC. YOU ARE WARNED. THIS WORKED FOR ME IN THE PAST WITH MY GALAXY NEXUS BACKUPS USING CWMTOUCH 6.0.3.6 AND 6.0.4.3.

I HAVE NEVER USED TWRP FOR BACKUPS. IT IS A MERE SUGGESTION THAT THIS METHOD WILL WORK WITH SIMILAR RESULTS. I HAVE NEVER BROWSED A BACKUP FOR TWRP. ANY ATTEMPT YOU MAKE USING A TWRP BACKUP IS OF YOUR OWN COGNIZANCE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

IIRC: If you have an md5 mismatch while trying to restore in a recovery, try this process:
IF YOU HAVE A BACKUP I HIGHLY SUGGEST STORING THE BACKUP FILE ON YOUR DESKTOP JUST IN CASE!!!!
Boot into whatever ROM you're on ATM.
Browse to your ClockworkMod (or TWRP backup must have an accessible folder for it's backups) using a Root file explorer, which I happen to use "Root Explorer" and open the backup file you just made.
Inside of that will be a nandroid.md5.
Delete that file and reboot into recovery, and try restoring again.

Ok i found it it was under /data/media/clockworkmod/backup but i dont see any files inside of that that are a md5 file im going to look in the data.ext4.tar file and the system.ext4.tar.a. Does any of those ring a bell? i see the boot.img, data.ext4.tar.a, recovery.img, system.ext4.tar.a, and system.ext4.tar.b. Thats all the files inside the backup i made before i rooted.
As many of you must know, Ubuntu has been officially released today, and now i was wondering how can i flash it on my Gnex with TWRP? Anyone knows? I really want make a test drive.

So does this mean I can just backup my current ROM, wipe and then flash all zips except for the recovery and then I have Ubuntu? Can I go back to my current ROM with TWRP exclusively?
I'm a bit worried about, like, everything.
Sure, no problem.
Just be sure to get rid of /data/ubuntu before your next nandroid. On my device I always fail to restore when it's in.

Depends on your needs. So that you know, the Aroma package is full package Gapps with an option to choose what app you want to install using scripts, still the same using recovery, but with graphical chooser.
Other package can do the same, but you need to make a file of list which app you don't want to install. But nano is good to go if only need the basic Gapps.
Personally, I like to leave /system with lesser app, lighter mean faster/smoother I believe. So nano it is.

I didn't try it yet. I downloaded it.
I'm on x-rom now. I wanted to so I could compare them. But I get a little flash happy sometimes and just got done flashing and testing different Roms over last 2 days. Ive been experimenting with these non Sprint Roms cause I don't use Sprint. Had to take a break and get some work done though.
I really love AOSP for its not bloated and emotion runs the best to me. But I always end up missing TouchWiz features.
I might go back to dtux though. I'm one of those guys that's always tinkering.
PS. I seen the op of that ROM said he's getting ready to release another version with some fixes.

data doesn't connect on sprint network upon reboot
I know that I'm pretty late to the party here but I decided to pull out my old fire that I haven't used in god only knows how long and wanted to see if I could make it into something actually useful. I have already rooted it and have firefirefire and twrp installed but I cannot find a non otter-x rom to download and install. Does anyone know if there are any still around? All the links I've tried in the index thread appear to be dead.
Thanks

You are the man shadow! Btw, thanks, your videos are the only reason I got as far as I did. They were super helpful.
If I could ask one more favor, is there a particular build I should use from the list? Worse comes to worse, I'll try a couple and if I don't like them or they don't work I'll just restore back.
Also, do you know if the gapps are included in the builds?
Thanks again

Gapps are not included should be some working links in http://goo.gl/VrNwpV

So it looks like all the cyanogenmod download links are dead, "wayback machine has not archived that URL" on all of them.
Same thing with all the links on your Gapps page. I could be doing something wrong but I doubt it.
Thanks anyway.
I was able to find and download cm-11 ((android 4.4-4.4.4 (kitkat)) on cyanogenmodroms.com but when I try to install it using twrp, I get error flashing zip. I've attached a screen shot. Any idea if I'm doing something wrong?
Thanks

Does it matter if the file is "zip-otterx-twrp-2.7.0.1-recovery-f2fs.zip" if I'm not going to change to otter-x?

Well, I saw your reply about 5 minutes too late and I installed the otter-x twrp...
So after probably coming super close to bricking the fire and going in completely the wrong order, I somehow managed to get the otter-x bootloader, cm11 otter-x rom and gapps installed and the thing actually works! It seems to be a bit slow but I guess that's because it's a 10 year old tablet...
Anyway, thanks for all your help. All of your posts and videos are the only reason I was able to give this old fire a new life. I really appreciate all you've done.
Got fed up with how slow and laggy cm11 was so I switched over to slimkat and basically the same result. Did I do something wrong or is this normal? Is there any way to improve the speed and functionality because as it is right now, I can't really use it for anything.
Thanks
