Problem with latest flashfire - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I tried to flash the latest xposed version (version 80) with the latest flashfire version (update from the 2 February) but the screen just goes black and the device reboots after like 3 minutes. Nothing is flashed. Was anybody able to solve this or can someone upload a flashfire version that is older than 20 January?

With flashfire some some things take a looonnnggggg time to flash. So a flashfire flash will take longer when flashing xposed. Put it in a cool place and let it flash for about 10 minutes (so the device doesnt get hot)if that does nothing then someone else might have to give you advice.

Dude.....the device reboots itself and I can't do anything about it.
I found out what wrong though and apparently chainfire, the developer, changed something in the error handling and now our device just reboots instead of flashing. Use version 0.24 and everything will work again.
I did contact him and asked him if he can do something about it.

Post Chainfire Root Issues 5.1.1

I attempted to root my phone using the Chainfire Auto-root method today and somehow managed to use the 925p edge MD5 file instead of 920p. This caused a few issues, the X-axis was inverted, no service, and a continual automatic reboot after about 30-60 seconds of the phone being on. In an attempt to fix it, I have tried a few things. in many combinations. I have reflashed the stock tar file, cleared cache, factory reset, and flashed the PIT file found in post 12 of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s6/help/operating-smg920p-t3263325/page3. Unfortunately all attempts have been for fruitless. Obviously the first issue to be tackled is the constant rebooting. Any help would be appreciated.
Maybe flashing unikernel will help, it can be found here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24269982087012055
Just flash it in Odin, if that does not work you may want to try bringing it to where you bought it for warranty.
No luck, unfortunately.

The firmware posted above is OJ7, which seems to be an earlier version than the OL1 firmware. I have no idea why OJ7 would work for you when OL1 wouldn't. (Unless you got a bad download of OL1, which is why I recommend checking MD5.)
If you are still on OJ7, can you try system update and see if that takes you to OL1?

Ok i left the phone at home but i did look at the log cat about the first ten lines all had emmc in them im not quite sure. Well I cant read it lol. when i get home il flash twrp and restore a back up let reboot a few times get a log cat and post it will twrps log cat work? If im lucky i might get a app installed to do it. I no longer got adb and fastboot on my computer but will download if needed.
im waiting for a replacement to get to the sprint store. i flashed stock and took it in rebooting sprint guy tried factory resetting it and clearing cache which got it stuck in the pre load starting or optimizing apps before itd finish it it would reboot and if i kept going id beable get to start up settings thats it. now i can flash twrp still it does restores my back ups and after that itl boot the system i can uninstall or install something or what not maybe 1 min after im able to get into it it reboot. only wifi connects though.
Again i had about all roms we got on sprint forum on that phone worked awesome loved it til the time i restored the efs on 6.0.1 with a twrp thats a unofficial build modded to work on 920p.

Sounds good thanks man.
Seems as maybe a somewhat common issue unfortunately thats happening for s6 as well as sprint note 5 as there are a few threads regarding the same issue. Theres a thread for s6 on this issue and on 2nd page appears as if someone found a fix having something to do with letting it die completely etc.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s6/help/constant-rebooting-t3287213
I figured my rebooting issue was corrupted data becausr i was transferring from phone to pc to phone and no md5 check. Though now i will use it. Good luck

LG G4 H818P - help w. Flashfire and Xtrememusic Mod

Hi guys,
while trying to flash Xtrememusic on my LG G4 dual sim H818P Lollipop (firmware v10k), I'm stuck into a bootloop. As I've read in some other threads that indeed this mod can be successfully flashed on LG phones, I think I must have done something wrong during the flashing process. Can anyone please help me identifying that?
This is the exact procedure I've followed :
- removed the SIM and ext sd card
- enabled debug mode USB
- flashed the rooted image from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64518905&postcount=1805, gaining root access
- installed busybox and flashfire apk
- downloaded Xtrememusic 7.0.3 zip mod from http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/mod-beatsaudio-e-xloud-installer-t3029951/page334
- put Xtrememusic in the root of SD folder (NOT external SD card)
- renamed the Xtrememusic filename to delete the "tm" symbol.
In Flashfire, I've selected these options:
- "install as zip or OTA" ("Auto-Mount Option" is unchecked)
- in the EverRoot section, "inject supersu" and "preserve recovery"
- "Reboot action" is set to Normal.
Right after clicking on "Flash", a message saying "slide to unlock screen" appear, then the phone reboots.
Flashfire seems to work correctly: after a few minutes of black screen, I see that it extracts the Xtrememusic zip. Then, black screen again for some minutes . After that, bootloop.
Please help if you can!
Thanks in advance
EDIT: following the advice from Hishan here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64730419&postcount=2 , I tried to get the battery out and then rebooted. No more bootloop, but now Android is stuck at the "Starting Application" message...

I think that you have misunderstood the question about this "XtremeMusic" MOD. It is possible to install it in G4 but NOT the version 7.0.3, as far as I know nobody has installed it.
Only version 6.2 or below is working.
please does anyone have any answer? I have been trying to install this mod for the past 72 hours, bricked my phone twice (LG G4 H812) because of it, now i tried this method including renaming the mod to remove "TM" and ticking the options he ticked.....
i didnt get stuck in bootloop or any issues, but the problem i have been having for 3 days still persists: there is nothing in my app drawer, no sign that i flashed Xtreme Music....even as the flashing process in Flashfire went well...everything flashed, no error or missing files...nothing.....
PLEASE HELP, anybody on XDA using LG G4 (H812) and Xtreme Music very well and working.

This MOD here is a very old version, which MOD are you trying to install?
You have also to give more details, first your G4 variant is different than mine (H815).
What ROM do you have? LG MM stock? CM? Other?
You need to always backup your ROM
What steps are you following? I always flash using recovery....
I was trying the old version because it seems like the new ones don't work, according to some xda posts i have read from people that tried to use them.
my G4 variant is (H812)Stock Rom, had to downgrade to LL so I can root and install Xposed.
i cant flash with recovery because TWRP is not supported on my version yet....I use Flashfire, installed Xposed with Flashfire, even busybox
but this mod and other alternatives like ARISE, they flash well but no sign of them in the phone.
and the steps i follow are the steps in the OP.....i do nothing different...
I hope these info help...i really need a breakthrough

Sorry but I can't help much...
You still don't tell the version that you are trying to install...
I remember that I was only able to install ExtremeMusic 6.1 version.
I'm not sure if TRWP is mandatory, because of the system mounting... but probably you need at have a permissive selinux.
Arise mod have a lollipop version, have you tried?
You also can try to copy the files manually.

I tried to install version 7.2...no show...then tried older versions after i read version 7 wasnt working for some users....tried version 6.2 that appeared to be the best...still nothing, . mind you, both version 7 and 6.2 installed flawlessly but no sign of them in the phone, thats where the problem is...i wasnt getting erorr install or missing files or the usual when you are flashing...Flashfire did everything well....
i cant use TWRP, not compatible with my model...
please instructions on how to copy files manually..., maybe thats the only option i have...although someone suggested i try Flashfire version 0.24...older version, what do you think?

So your problem was probably with flasfire.
Is it working?
Maybe you try arise mod for LL, it's a recent sound MOD with much better sound quality..

yea..maybe its Flashfire...it took a while to get to that loading screen, compared to when i was using v0.32.
Viper driver installed, tinkered with settings but no effects, almost like it wasn't on.
but Xtreme Music app didnt work...launches to a white screen then closes by itself...
i uninstalled it, flashed the remover,
installed Arise and the aural maximizer...
got stuck on "starting android apps"..
about to restore my backup and try to install Arise again, this time without the aural maximizer

I can't install the TWRP recovery for HydraRom

Hey!
I have a little problem: the last update, the one that blocks the battery at 30%, has been installed on my phone(SM-N930F). I thought it was not serious and I will install HydraRom. I'm not really an expert in this field, but I have already installed several ROM on different Android phone.
But since few days, I just try to install the TWRP and I can't. Really, I don't understand why...
I downloaded the TWRP file, and when I want to flash it with Odin, it puts me a mistake : "FAIL! DeviceInfo".
And with an older version of Odin, it tells me "Get PIT for mapping..." and "There is no PIT partition" :crying:
I tried maybe 10, or even 50 times, and I don't understand why it doesn't work...
I did a lot of search but I found no case similar to mine.
Can someone help me please? :crying: I just want to back to 100% charging (Or even 60... ), because 30%, it's impossible.
I thank you in advance :fingers-crossed:
And I'm sorry if my english is not perfect, I try to do my best
Perhaps last update don't let you install custom recovery (?), you had a lot of time to install it before 30% limit update - why did you wait and worst, installed update?

Maybe because I'm an idiot?
No, the truth is because the 60% bridle didn't bother me. But when I saw that the bridle would go down to 30% I thought I was going to do it, but the day before the update I didn't have time, and when I woke up in the morning my phone was 30%, the update installed itself. But I didn't pay attention because I thought I could fix it.
But I think there is still a solution? There is always a solution, no?
And I don't know if Samsung really lock something. Because I heard of someone who installed a ROM even after the update...

Im thinking same, the last 30% update doesn't work with twrp now.
I know that on the snapdragon devcies after that last OTA people cannot flash back to the previous firmware so this would make sense about twrp.
That said since he has exynos its worth trying to flash back to the previous firmware...I don't think its going to work either but worth a try.

Well, that rabbit went into quite the hole... hehe
However, at the other end was a person who restored an old backup to revert this problem... And I -MAYBE- have an old backup on my external hdd, but won't that wipe all data that has been written to my phone since that "MAYBE" backup?
The other suggestion was wiping my MISC-partition using commands through ADB - something I have no clue how to setup and/or execute.
Still, thank you so much for your effort!
Reading all of this made me remember that one time I spaced out and tried to install an official firmware update upon release and prompt, which lead to the same issue. I could then just reinstall an older raw firmware version, which left all my files and data intact. Hopefully this will work here too.
BUT... It still feels very risky. If anyone out there has any sure-fire solution to this update Magisk Manager through the built-in updater no-boot issue, then please feel free to let me know - I would be forever in your debt
The best surefire solution is just don't. And BTW always backup before you flash anything in twrp.

No, just restore the boot partition (16MB).
I learnt the hard way about backup, when years ago I didn't make one for my Galaxy S2 and lost everything (pictures, etc). Now after installing TWRP I always do a backup...
You should be able to reflash your boot partition with a fastboot command like "fastboot flash boot boot.img" (people with more knowledge than me can help you)
EDIT: the problem is that our Zenfone2 needs a signature for the boot partition, this is why we have a special Magisk installer that just add the signature to the image. The automatic update installer of Magisk has no clue about this, me and a few others here made the same mistake as you when Magisk popup "I have an update!" and we clicked "Install"...
All your data and app are still there, do not worry, no need to wipe anything, just reflash a signed boot.

Look... I am sorry if I "snapped" as you put it... But let's make one thing clear - I snapped at YOU; there is no "us" in this case, as you tried to skew it. Don't lump yourself together with these other helpful people, because so far you have nothing in common to me. If I were looking for someone to go "Hey, I got a solution - you know that thing you did? - Don't do it again!" I'd just go stand on the street corner with a sign asking for someone to slap my face.
As for your principal of don't do things if your not sure of how they work, I am totally behind that. But it has NOTHING to offer here as we are past that point. A broad comparison would be like "a solution to world hunger = eat food" ("but we don't have any food!" "you should have thought of that before you started starving now shouldn't you...?!").
In your defense, I guess you really believe you are trying to help. But compare your comment to the other ones posted and it is quickly clear that you are not. However, YOU ARE RIGHT, I should've known better and shouldn't do it again. And obviously I am enerved at this situation, but equally obvious (now) is that what you wrote is NOT "the best sure-fire solution" as what was posted afterward seems at least 100% (would have been more if possible) more applicable to my issue.
Anyway, I'll do the right thing here in the end, after having said so many things, and admit, once again, that I was wrong, you were right, I snapped for no good reason and you were just trying to help.
And I sincerely apologize for my rude behaviour. Hopefully now you can at least understand my reaction.
Also, fair is fair - Maybe TWRP flashes the update before it even enters into it. It would be the first I've EVER heard of something like that. But I am out of my element a bit here, so I will withdraw that comment and once again apologize for snapping at you because of it.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Basically, you are saying that I would, in theory, just have to use fastboot and flash boot.img (extracted from any firmware?) again, which I am very familiar with how to do, and presto - boot partition restored and working (once again, in theory)?
Sounds amazing!:good:

Yes, if you have a Z00A for instance with MM version 223, take the Z00A.zip file from https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/bl-unlock-ze551ml-toolkit-t3546293 and use the file stock\z00a\223\boot.img
This is stock unsigned boot.img file for M .223

Is there any way to check from TWRP or using fastboot, or otherwise find out what version of the rom I have (had)?
I am definitely still on LolliPo... I think I am one or two official updates from the switch to MarshMallow... But how can I be sure?
WW_ZE551ML_2.20.40.139_sal358-amtech.vn
Last year sometime I ran into a similar problem, where I had to flash raw firmware in order to unbrick the phone... This is the firmware that I downloaded and flashed then.
However, within this .raw-file there is no boot.img ...? There are a couple of .img-files, but none named boot.
On a side-note: When I bricked it last year and had to flash this raw firmware, which I did with Asus Flash Tool, if I am not mistaken... However, whichever way I did it, I managed to flash and then boot as usual. The phone then updated all apps, and I was just blessed with this wonderful sight of "my phone" with all the apps, files and data still intact.
And this problem, which resulted in the same boot issue, came from trying to apply an official OTA update, just after rooting and unlocking the bootloader (forgot myself for just a moment there), which to me seems like a way more serious screw-up than what I just managed to do today...?
@dustylambo
You still boot to TWRP ?
Simple questions
check date of back ups , course you won't be able to restore but title will have builds.
What twrp build ?
Then....
Select reboot in twrp then power off in twrp .
Wait 15 seconds...
Power plus vol+ , you can now boot to bootloader.
What IFWI version ?
0094.0177 or .0173 is LP
0094.0183 is M
Flash relevant raw , without ticking wipe data in AFT.
Check my unbrick thread in my signature for AFT and links to raws
Enjoy

You still boot to TWRP ?
Simple questions
check date of back ups , course you won't be able to restore but title will have builds.
What twrp build ?
Then....
Select reboot in twrp then power off in twrp .
Wait 15 seconds...
Power plus vol+ , you can now boot to bootloader.

Yes, I still boot into TWRP.
I can't find my old backup for some reason, but after flashing the previously mentioned raw firmware I never up- or downgraded the ROM, so it MUST be that version. It's the only one I've ever downloaded and flashed.
IFWI version is 0094.0183
But so you are saying I could basically just flash [correct version FW].raw via AFT, without wiping data, and all should be good?
I am on your unbrick thread aws.
I will def bookmark it.
But I already have AFT and the same FW... so I could just go-go-go, right? Or is the IFWI version being M an issue?
Also, I downloaded the official Asus FW from their ZF2 website. In that .zip is in fact a "boot.img" - can I flash this via fastboot you think?
Thanks again for all your help!
You are unbelievable!
@dustylambo
0094.0183 is M
So flash a M raw.
You must've upgraded bootloader since flashing the last raw .139 which is LP to get to M bootloader .0183
In bootloader .0183
You flash raw for M, these have just been added by realyoti
drop him a thanks .
Flash without ticking wipe data in AFT
Damnit! I don't like where this is going... But it's late and I'm dumb
I never upgraded to M because I read that there were several apps that would lose support, MUSIC in particular, but there were others as well.
Will an M raw-file flash and still boot with all my old apps?
@dustylambo
It's simple really , what is the twrp build number ?
You never said
0094.0177
Is locked 5 LP bootloader.
.0173 is 5 unlocked bootloader
.0183 is M
What twrp build is yours ?
Ps , I don't think it matters which version raw you flash , only that it may fail and might have to wipe data to succeed which is better than what you have and are struggling with right now
gnite , enjoy

Pls , remember the reason you installed twrp initially ?
For backing up
Sounds like you didn't only update Magisk Manager, you update Magisk itself. A non-signed Magisk update will always result in bootloop.

To be corrected: Not the Magisk, but the repacked boot.img. ?

Oneplus 3 Problem after unbrick

Hello, Good Day to all! I wont take too much of your time but please help me!
My Oneplus 3 suddenly bricked itself, I dont know how or why but it just powered off and then when I tried to boot it up it was hard bricked. Now I've managed to fix it by following the Mega Unbrick guide for Oneplus 3 and it boots up, but the problem is it crashes during boot, and it randomly crashes after a few minutes which then leads to the boot logo crash, I have to "let it rest" so to speak for a few minutes so that it would bypass the boot crashes. Once it got past the crashes some apps are not responding like Twitter, Messenger and so on. Stock apps are fine it's the newly downloaded ones that are not responding, I tried numerous factory resets using the stock recovery and TWRP but no luck.
I am on Nougat 7.1.1 on the latest OxygenOS version, Unlocked bootloader with systemless root. I haven't tried flashing a custom rom the only thing I tried to flash was the Stock Rom. I also noticed that the WiFi and the Data/Signal was particularly weaker since the messages would not load, I need to actually check the app for it to sync. When I got Messenger somehow working, the messages would not even load up.
Any ideas what the problem is? Any help is deeply appreciated, Thanks in Advance!

This sounds like an hardware issue, have you tried method 2 of the unbrick tool, perhaps you could try to re-download it, have you unzipped it? If it boots let it boot and then upgrade to a new OOS version and then you can do whatever you want. If it doesn't work after you followed my suggestions you might wanna contact Oneplus, don't worry even though your bootloader is unlocked you still have full warranty..

I did the method 2 of the unbrick tool, I've done it like twice or thrice now. I have the latest version of OOS, I am afraid to flash a custom rom because after it flashes in TWRP it immediately crashes, it does not even give me a chance to clear the dalvik or reboot. It crashes no reboot or anything.
But thank you I didn't expect anyone would reply well I regained my faith in humanity in forums
Sidenote: What custom rom would you suggest? or is the stock rom better?

I would suggest VertexOS. It's simple and really fast, EAS and Voxpopuli takes peformance per watt to the next level, if you like feature you might try Zenixx RR.
