Noob questions of the day - Asus ZenWatch

Hi
Just received my beautiful watch, but pretty frustrated with it's lack of intuitive interface.
If you could bear with me on 2 questions, I would appreciate it.
(1) How to initiate a text message? When I say, "send a text message" in the "Ok Google" prompt, it just takes me to a screen that looks like a web page describing what text messages are.
(2) Using the App ZenWatch Manager, I can choose a watchface and customize it, but there is no prompt to send to the watch or save, etc... How do I get that watchface to my watch?
Thank you so much!
greg

I usually say something like, "Send a text to my wife, I'll be home in an hour." (I have "Wife" set as a nickname for her in my contacts.) If the person has more than one number in your contacts, I think you also have to say something like "Send a text to my wife mobile, ...."

Yeah, I do think you have to specify a contact name before it'll actually start a new text message.
For your second question, it should save your custom watch face automatically, and the ZenWatch Manager watch faces should automatically be pushed to the Android Wear app, which should then be available on the watch. When you choose that watch face, it should reflect what you customized (if not, that's how it worked by default when I first opened ZenWatch Manager).

Voice Input Commands

Soooo i JUST found out that the google search can be used to make calls when my sister tried to google something and it started calling a friend.
what other cool commands are there that the phone will act on?
for completion sake the command was
"Call <name>"
if you have multiple names or names that are similar, such as christine, christina, kristen (i just said call chris) it will bring them up as options which is pretty nifty.
The options are limited right now. I know Froyo will greatly expand on this. Allowing you to do a lot more than just call. I am assuming compose text messages and much more.
Here is what I use:
"Call <Persons name>"
"Navigate to <location, address, name or zip>"
Those are the only 2 commands I know of. Everything else will result in a search. You can get apps that will allow you to compose SMS or emails to hold you over till Froyo.
If you are using the voice dialer app you can use "Open (app name". For instance in the car I use "Open Pandora".
I don't think it works with the search button, but if you use the voice dialer it does.

[Q] Showing just the Contacts which have PHONE NUMBERS?

Hi.
New to ICS.
in previous roms, I used to chose to show only the contacts who had phone numbers.
Is there no way of doing this in ICS?
THanks

In addition to the solution in that thread (custom contact group that you then choose to display), the dialer app will automatically apply this filter (you can use the same menu path as the people app to further filter which contact group you want to use) to anything you ask it to display. The only catch being that if your intent is to send texts, not make a phone call, your only option is to tap the contact's picture (twice) and launch into the people app.
Shame that the functionality of the dialer app isn't just included as an option in the people app. I use a custom list but I find that I often forget to add people to it when I'm standing in front of them getting their number, so I just make a habit of visiting my google contacts page every so often on my computer and running down the list, looking for contacts with numbers but without my custom label.

Google Now default email or phone number for a contact? Prevent "Which One" prompt

Google Now default email or phone number for a contact? Prevent "Which One" prompt
OK, so nearly all contacts in my phone have multiple emails and phone numbers affiliated. So, whenever I ask Google to send a text to Bob or to call jane, it always prompts me with "which one" and displays a list of emails or phone numbers.
Is there any solution to this problem aside from deleting the other numbers or emails? Setting an email to "default" in contacts does not seem to solve it.
For the record, this has always been a problem with Google Now but it is worse on the watch.
Yeah, I've found setting the default doesn't always work.. but get a better success rate if I say something like 'call Fred smith mobile' all in one go
What is worse when it asks you "which one" and then only gives you a list of numbers instead of mobile, work, etc. Even if I respond "Mobile" it doesnt know what to do because it wants you to choose off the list of numbers. Like somone else said if you say it all in one sentence at the beginning it works fine.

[Q] Is there a way to default to mobile number for SMS?

When I say "OK Google, text Bob, what's up?", if Bob has multiple numbers in my phone, it will ask me "Which number?", making me look down and click on the watch. This seems very counter-intuitive, especially if the person's contact numbers are clearly labeled "work", "mobile", etc. I'd think it should automatically use the mobile number when sending SMS. It does remember my choice, but only for a short time.
Does anyone know a way to make the watch keep my choices, or better yet, automatically choose the mobile number?
Also, does anyone know how to use your voice to make that choice? I've tried saying "mobile" to no avail.

Question Is there a way to get announcement of SMS sender?

I found a way to get the caller's name to be spoken -- but I guess there is no built-in way to get this to happen for a text message? I would be nice to know who is texting without having to look at my phone.

Click to collapse
I found a way, but it's not built-in and I think you'll need root.
I installed 'text to speech' from the play store, typed in 'messge from .........' saved all the names I wanted and transfered them to system/media/audio/notifications/sound theme/calm (root needed?)
Then chose their name as the ringtone, works in whatsapp aswell.
i did something somewhat related as well. i went into a text to speech website and created both a ringtone and an sms tone for specific contacts only. so say if i'm driving and the sound comes "liam calling" or รค message tone of "sms from liam", that will be from my son which i need to address as it might be urgent. but if the generic tone "sms" or my usual ringtone comes up, i don't address it right away. i went one step further for the other notifications. i created ones for teams, messenger, office email etc.. so say when the tone "front door" sounds, this is the camera in front detecting a person.
