Hi All,
I'm having an issue with dual sim as follows, if I switch the data connection from SIM1 to SIM2 it switches it over to SIM2 and works but SIM1 then stops working completely, e.g. no calls, text messages, no signal registered and in the status it says SIM1 is "disconnected". If I then switch back the data connection to SIM1 it works again and so does SIM2.
Is this a known issue with the version of Android 5.1.1 that Wileyfox are using?
FYI, I've raised it with Wileyfox support and they say the issue doesn't exist, even though I sent them a screencast showing it doing it!!
Thanks.
Andrew.

By chance, are you on a 3G and up contract, from the likes of three?
I know that when you switch data priorities it defaults the non data sim to 2G. So if you are on 3 that will essentially disable the sim like you are seeing as three only provide 2G signal when there is no 3G or 4G signal in that area. They lease the 2G signal from another network, used to be EE but not sure anymore.
Just a thought, have a look at Settings > Sim Cards and select the Sim that is not being used for data, if that is showing Preferred Network Type of 2G, try changing it.

Yes, I'm on 4G on both SIMs, one is on 3 and the other is on EE. I've tried all different combinations of the settings, switching the SIM cards around, etc... however no matter what I try, switching data from SIM1 to SIM2 always disables SIM1 fully. It must be a Android bug / feature.

Ok, I can replicate the issue with 3 in Sim 1 and GiffGaff in Sim2, changing data to Sim 2 sends Sim 1 to 2G only which three doesn't support where I am based and so it effectively kills the sim. Toggling the 3 sim to 3G or 4G sorts it for me.
Tried with Vodafone in Sim 1 and GiffGaff in Sim 2 and toggling between them works seamlessly as both networks have 2G fallback.

Hi, I didn't switch the sims to get it to work just the preferred network type for the three sim.
This is the setting that I mean.

It defaults to 2G for the non data sim, but changing it to 3G or 4G brings the three one back to life when it is the secondary sim.

I've tried this and it doesn't work for me, with EE in SIM1 and 3 in SIM2 both work fine when SIM2 (3) is the data connection but as soon as I switch to SIM1 (EE) for the data connection it disables SIM2 (3) completely and the setting you have mentioned is already set to 4G for both SIM's.

That is bizarre.
For me, switching the data sim also switches the preferred type to 2G for the non data sim.
Try something, change the preferences so that EE is doing the data, then reboot and clear caches from recovery (vol down and power from powered off), then reboot system.
You shouldn't need to do that but I am curious if it may clear out the gremlins.

Thanks for the suggestion, tried that, didn't work either.
Yes, I had the same issue, I think its because 3 doesn't support 2G, as soon as I make it T-Mobile is my data provider, the Three sim goes dead. Think I may just port my Three number to another network provider

Is there any workaround for this issue that anyone is aware of? I have an iD Mobile SIM which I understand runs on the Three network, and am getting just the symptoms described by others. In short is this a bug in the software for the phone or a network problem?

Seeing the exact same issue, with EE sim in 1 and Three sim in 2.
Wileyfox android version 6.0.1 Cyanogen version 13.0-ZNH0EAS2NH
With EE sims in both slots and my data connection being sim 1: the data connection seems to randomly connect to sim 2 after a reboot without me changing it
Brand new phone. Will be returning it.
Apologies for being a 'me too', but I've just had this exact same problem. BT/EE in sim2, Three in sim2. BT/EE is the main data provider, but when enabled, sim2 is completely dead.
Is this a Wileyfox issue, or a Cyanogen Mod issue?
I like the phone, and don't want to replace it unless I have to, but I need two working sims. So it's whether to go with another Wileyfox, or avoid Wileyfox or CM.

I want to buy the I9192 and i wanted to know if it supports 2 sims that work only on 3g networks?

Thanks!
Both the sim slots can be used for 3g reception.. but only one sim can be 3g at one tym.. i.e either sim 1 or sim 2 can be 3g at any given time...
by 3g you mean that i can use data only from 1 sim?
I have 2 sims from a networks that uses HSDPA 850 / 2100 - would both of the sims will work at the same time? (I don't need data on both of them, only on 1 sim, but i need reception for calls & sms on both sims)
Will it work?
Thanks!
Yes. Only one sim will be used for the data connection.

but for data, only one sim: either sim 1 or sim 2 ( whichever is choosen by you)

I made all possible tests, it will only work 3g or hsdpa data speeds on slot 1. if you switch your data service network from SIM1 to SIM2 it will only work 2G, if you go back to SIM1 you will have 3G normally again.
hope this helps. BTW, in the Manual or user guide for this phone this feature is not clearly explained.

I confirm: both sims works on 3g but only one at a same time.
You have to mannually select which sim will use mobile data on settings > my device > sim manager > data service network.
If you choose sim2 for data, sim 1 will automattically switch to 2g network and sim 2 works on 3g.
Make sure your data provider has 3g coverage on your area.
hth
check my post on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2490419 for the solution.
Well both work in 3G but only the slot 1 works on HSDPA/HSDPA+ the second slot is locked into GPRS mode and I have experienced this behaviour on 4 rom before knox samsung proctection avoid me to flash my phone as I want.
So I've read in a few reviews it's a dual sim standby (both sims are in standby for a phone call) and both of them are capable of 3g/4g at the same time?
anyone know?
reason I ask is in my country the 2g bands are closed so can't use any other dual sim phone (all of them force second sim to be on 2g)
I don't think both of them are capable of 4G for the simple reason 2 SIM from 2 different network providers = 2 IP address, and you need to know it's complex to make usable 2 IP address in the same time (MPTCP).
Then like on the OnePlus 2, you can only use one SIM for data and the other for phone calls/SMS/MMS in the same time.
The only phone that I am aware that is able to do 4g on one sim and 3g on the other is the mi5.
I am also keen to know if we can do the same on the one plus 3. I live in Singapore and 2g will be deactivated soon.
Sent from my X9009 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I'm not expecting the phone to use data on both. i'm more concerend about just being on standby for phone/msg on 3g (or 4 if possible). Like using your phone blocking data on the second sim. I don't see why it's so technologically hard. 2g is soon to be gone evrywhere
I have tested Mi5Pro and it have first sim 2G/3G/4G and the second sim 2G/3G simultaneously (dual sim stand-by).
I have read in a review than OP3 also. I will receive mine next monday, i will test ...
thanks a lot. anyone else can confirm ?
I can confirm .. i have received my op3 yesteday and it is 2G/3G/4G on sim1 and 2G/3G on sim2 simultaneously. Sim2 is only for calls and messages.
Like OP2 and other phones, it is possible to swap sims and in this case, sim2 is 2G/3G/4G with data and sim1 only 2G/3G for calls and messages.
I confirm also that op3 is dual sim stand-by and not dual sim active.

Is this by design? That seems like a very frustrating limitation. I would be okay with data services flipping over to SIM2 while on the phone there.
I also seem to have a problem of the OP3 kicking down from LTE to HSPA when I make a phone call.
Any ideas?

Yes, it is designed like this, like all dual sim except Asus ZenFone 2, Galaxy S4 Duo and few other models.
LTE networks has not "phone circuits" and call are made in 3G (phone connect in HSPA during call). This is for all LTE phones.
LTE calls are possible with VoLTE protocol witch is IP voice communications and not voice circuit.
For using VoLTE, the phone need compatible with this protocol AND operators needs to activate this functionality.

incoming call on SIM2 will ring.
Both the SIMS can receive calls no matter which of them are used for mobile data.

It is dual sim standby and both the sims are in standby for a phone call. Both of them are capable of 4G/3G/2G but NOT at the same time. 4G can be used only in one sim slot at a time. It can be set by going to settings > SIM cards> Preferred SIM for Cellular data. Whichever SIM you choose here will have 4G option. It can be changed from settings>Cellular networks > your SIM card > Preferred network type. (4G or 3G or 2G). The other SIM can have either 3G or 2G but there is no option to choose it. The only way is to click on 'Network operators' option from Cellular networks menu and choose a 2G or 3G service. Hope it helps.
I get 4g on each sim but you have to pick one for data but both are 4g
So if I have 2 sims, one for calls with 6gb 4g and one for data with 15gb 4g, when I finish the 6gb on 1st sim I can switch the data to the other sim via software? Thanks
Your right you can

This is true, but you can also add to the list of "Dual Active" phones all Huawei premium phones:
Mate 7, Mate 8, Honor 6, and probably Honor 7 and 8.
They all have DUAL ACTIVE SIM CARDS, which means that you can have a call on SIM-1 and get a waiting call on SIM-2, then you can answer the call and swap between the two active calls!! I even tried calling SIM-1 from SIM-2 and it was actually ringing!!
Also more importantly, when using data on SIM-1, you can make or receive a call on SIM-2 without interrupting data.
That's pretty amazing, but with a major drawback (at least for me, it is): 3G/4G service is only accessible on SIM-1 slot!! The SIM card in slot-2 will always be 2G and would never ever access 3G/4G networks
This is bad because I travel a lot, and I always need to be able to switch data from SIM-1 to SIM-2 and vice versa. The only option I have is to physically swap SIM cards between slots, which actually ruins the whole concept of having DUAL SIM mobile
My guess is that they are actually using two separate modems, each one is dedicated to one of the two SIM slots, and only one of them supports 3G/4G connectivity.

I have a questiĆ³n, so if a dual sim phone have 3g/4g capabilities on both sims, is there a way to make like a failover setup such as if sim1 looses data the phone switches to sim2 data automatically and viceversa?
I have problem in my one plus 3 network issues both SIM are not working properly both SIM search for network frequently when I switched data no network can anyone give solution I tried all rebooting, factory reset, searching network manually.

the reason behind this is jio doesnt have gsm or wcdma networks yet like other network operators. so it has to use lte for both data and calls. i hope u know how calls over lte work.

Thanks for your input.
When I roam around remote areas with weak Signal zone , I did experience what you are saying ... switching data and other sim signals would vanish . So I use to disable data first and later turn it on that way signals would stay . I.e.
Disable data
Switch sim data
Turn on data .
P.s. Everyone network has a fallback even if we don't use LTE ,networks fallback to device / network supported typed

Just for your info it has nothing to do with OP3 or any custom rom, It's JIO which h is an all time 4G network.
So when u chose data on any simcard apart rom the JIO the 4G band shifts to that particular sim be it idea Voda airtel, JIO will loose network as the band on that slot is 2g/3g.

no one can resolve.
ok,
faced same issue in my oneplus 3,
and it is there in every phone, and no one cant resolve it.
actually jio use its data network to make call, receive call and send sms, so if you change your network connection to any other sim, it will lose all its services.
so if you want to use both sim, your data connection must be connected with jio sim.
I have 2 sim on my OP3.
Sim 1 default for voice and messages
Sim 2 default for data. (tried with different sim).
When i place a call using sim 1, data on sim 2 drops.
When i hang up, data on sim 2 is back again.
Is that normal? LTE, WCDMA, no matter which protocol i use, but it's always the same scenario...
Thanks

Depends on network too.
On one network when I recieve a call, internet drops.
But when I place a call, internet works.
While on other sim when I place a call, network switches to 3g and back to 4g when I drop the call.
But while calling you would need one sim in 2g and other in 3g or 4g for the internet to work.

In other words, if i place a call with the sim that is NOT used for data, the other sim, drop the connection.

I can't remember the exact terminology but there are two types of dual sim phones - in effect "2 phones in one case" and "one phone with access to 2 sims". The terms may be dual active and dual standby and there are acronyms something like DSDA for dual sim and dual active. I would think the op3 has standby sims and whichever makes or receives a voice call has priority and takes over the only "transmitter"

Try turning off VoLTE in sim settings. This may help.
Carriers i use, don't support VoLTE, so... i haven't any option to disable.
So.... nobody with 2 sim here ?
I really don't know if that is a bug or is normal....
That is what i mean.

Standby
During a call on SIM 1.
(SIM 2 is for data, you can see "4g" is gone..)
Only one SIM can be active at any given time. When there is no call, the SIM are in standby and data can be used on either of the SIM. But the moment a call is active, that SIM becomes the active SIM and if that's the one being used for data, then it is available and the other is not.

Does this make the position clear ? http://gadgetguideonline.com/android/android-101/dual-sim-android-phones-dual-standby-vs-dual-active/ It references points made in this thread and has a list of dual active sim phones. I can only find specifications for the op3 and op3T that state they are "standby" sims.
Hello I am say from my experience that when I use jio sim in India which has volte calls works as well as internet side by side. But when I use airtel sim for internet and Vodafone sim for calls and SMS the same problem happens. There is something technologically called they have 4g or may be 3g for internet at the same time they are using 2g technology for calls it may be outgoing or incoming. So when I try to pit some calls 4g symbol will disappear after disconnecting it will appear again. So please check with operator what kind of technology they are providing truly 4g or combination of 4g technology.
Then you can understand it properly I think.

crystal clear
ok try this, put the data sim in slot 1 and call sim in slot 2, tell me if that works
No way. If enable data on SIM 1 end use the SIM 2 to call, data on SIM 1 drops.
If i use data on SIM 1 and use the same SIM to call, data will stay active. Same thing if i revert SIM on slot.
I think... this is the phone...
I have a Lenovo Vibe P1 Turbo device which is dual sim smartphone and i am using 2 sim
1. Jio 4g
2. Airtel
For the NOTE my device doesn't supports VoLte
Now when i set my Sim 1 Jio 4g as preferred data sim my 2nd sim i.e Airtel loses network. i dont know why? :crying: It supports 2G & 3G though
even if i search for networks to get registered to get airtel network it says "Error while Searching networks"
To get network i always have set my 2nd sim as preferred data sim then only i get network but my 1st sim Jio 4g loses network that i understand why because Jio
suports only Lte network its true 4G thats why and my phone doesn't supports 4G on both sim slots.

Vodafone as preferred data sim Airtel loses network. Whats Going ON??? PLEASE HELP ME!
This Problem started just two weeks ago before that everything was Fine with networks.
The time this problem started i was using Resurection Remix ROM 7.1.1. Rooted
After that i Changed my ROM to UNOFFICIAL AICP 7.1.2 ROM thinking that ROM has RIL Bugs. But still i was not getting network then i Flashed Stock ROM to my
