I flashed the new 20d on my 815H yesterday, coming from Genisys. Wiped everything except external storage. No im having problem with the phone not saving charges i make in g4 tweakbox. Not even when i shut down insted of rebooting. Same issue when trying to edit build.prop with build prop editor. Had to edit build prop manually thru es file explorer to get it to stick.
Feels like something is stopping my commands or something.
Anyone have any ideas? Do i need to reflash and reroot!?
Ok here's a related question. When I go to apps->configure apps->modify system settings. I can't change permissions for any apps. Shouldn't I be able to do that when rooted? Neither Tweakbox or Gravitybox och Xposed have permission to write to system settings in this menu. But shouldn't they??

I have the files to install the app itself, but when I try it says that it's already installed and asks me to uninstall it. Is there something that I need to do in order to make this work? I really hate google voice and other alternatives to the stock app. This is literally the only thing that I don't really like about cyanogenmod, and it's probably not worth using a different rom just because of this, so if anyone knows a fix please let me know, thanks!

Same issue: no VZW VVM on CM 6.1 RC2 / Incredible
I agree, I would really like to have the stock visual voicemail app on my CM installation. Does anybody have any ideas about how to get this to work?
I tried copying the VVM.apk from the original system image and installing it, but I get a DEXOPT error, and I don't really know what that means. Is there anyway to recompile/repackage the APK to make it work on the CM ROM?
I'm familiar with basic Android software development and tools, I just need help finding what direction to go in.
Use file manager and go to "/system"
Mount the folder R/W(Read/Write
open build.prop in Text Editor
look for "ro.horizontalVvvm = True" and chenge it to False
look for "ro.horizontalBUA = True" and change it to False
save your edit, and back out to thr "/system" folder. Once again switch the directory back to R/O, exit your apps and reboot.
You shoulkd now be able to install your Vvm.apk without it telling you to uninstall it because one is already installed.
Note I am using Virtuous rom however it should work for most roms I would imagine.
If you do not have a Vvm.apk here is one from the Droid X but it works great on my incredible. Looks almost like the stock incredible version.

Hope this helped.
I can't edit the file. It errors when I try to save.
Here are a couple of simple questions for BYUsinger84 to help me figure it out.
Is your phone rooted ? If not this will not work.
If thats not the problem are you making sure to mount the "/system" folder R/W(Read/Write) before modifying the "build.prop" file, and then back to R/O(Read/Only) once editing is done and saved.
You say it errors when you try to save. Sounds like you probably didnt mount the "/system" folder to be R/W not allowing the modified file to be written to the phone.
If you did do all of that corrrectly and it still dosen't work, try to write down or get a screen capture of the exact error as it is written on your screen.
Hope this helps.
Yes. this fix works on the Incredibly ReEngineered rom as well. Thanks for the ups.
THANKS!
I lost the visual voicemail app when I flash the OMGB V7 rom
Why not use Google voice? Sets up the same thing.

FYI i know this is an older post, but maybe, like me, someone will search for how to make vvm work - this is for my tbolt, but looks like it works on andriods in general, just gotta have hookup to big red.
Im running synergy rc2 and these switches are already true. i used root explorer to browse to the system/build.prop file and viewed it (didnt have to edit, but if i did, root explorer already opens r/w defalut and if you select and hold, the menu that comes up has the 'edit in text editor' selection available)
the titanium backup of vvm.apk wouldnt install, but when i downloaded the one above (THANKS FOR IT), i installed it and my messages started coming in. i installed it right from the SD card - not sure if that will bite me in the butt later, but oh well.
for those who ask why vvm - i am new to android and never set up gvoice account before jumping into the root game. oops on my part, but its kinda nice cuz it makes me dig in and look at the way things work. to retreive my vms, both past (like my 4year old son calling and telling me that when we went through texas, thats where t-rexes lived long ago) and present/new. now that it is working again, NOW i can migrate to gvoice and drop the 2.99 fees!
i suspect there are others in a similar boat...
Hello guys,
I've just flashed the Paranoid Android ROM by WOH (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1912187&page=111) and I really like it.
However, I'm having some kind of issue with the PA engine settings.
The problem goes like this:
1. When I set the global UI settings, I'm asked to reboot, but the settings are back to defaults after the reboot.
2. When I edit the preferences for a particular app, I'm only able to make it work by setting and applying the needed values followed by using the launch button, which finally makes the changes effective. These changes are, however, also reset after rebooting the phone.
I did some searching and found this hint (http://www.paranoid-rom.com/forum/guides-references/256-hint-pa-prefs-does-not-save-changes) which seems to deal with this problem, but haven't had any luck with it. In the terminal, when trying to run the commands, I get an error saying my file system is mounted read only. So I tried modifying the file perimissions in the ES file manager (which also didn't work on some occasions, but sometimes it did), then running the terminal commands successfully, but without any effect on the PA preferences bahaviour after rebooting.
I ended up editing those files manually and removing the backup file (which, I thought, was overwriting the preferences file, reverting the settings to defaults). The ES file manager also behaved very oddly when trying to manipulate those files, once I was not allowed to delete those files, than they disappeared on their own, same goes for renaming.
Finally, I think, the problem is being caused by the properties file being overwritten with the defaults on every boot. So far I've been unable to determine the cause of this behaviour, so I hope perhaps some of you have come across this problem and know the solution. Thanks in advance for that.
I am running the latest CM nightly. The system states that I am out of memory. When I go into Settings > Storage and refresh, it shows several GB available. I can't install any more apps. I deleted all of the apps I know longer use. I had about 600 pictures in my gallery. Since I sync with Dropbox and Google+, I deleted all of those as well. I changed my email retention from 7 days to 3. I cleared the app data of all apps.
Still getting this strange problem. I looked and there were a ton of strange log files in /data/system. They were RS_01.log, RS_02.log, etc, all the way to RS_90.log. Each log file was about 910 bytes. I deleted all of them in root explorer and rebooted. Same problem.
I can factory reset and reinstall CM, but want to see if there is a fix first. Found online people saying to dial *#9900# and deleting a log file, but dialing that number does not open a menu. Might be due to the fact that I have a later bootloader (M2), or that I am running CM.
Ideas?
Give lucky patcher a try. There's an option to odex system files which frees up int storage

I can't install any apps. Android is throwing an error, not enough system space to install whenever I try to install anything. This has to be some sort of runaway log. I found references to dumpstate logs causing this problem, but they are all in /data/log. I don't have that directory on CM11. Not sure where to look.
I found solution..
Go into your time tool box and set apps to sd to auto. having it set on ext sd messed ours up too. Easy fix for us. Hope it helps.
Anybody having trouble mounting /System in 5.0.1? es explorer can't write to it and when I use terminal emulator to mount it's still no go. ?
I use ScriptManager. It has the auto mount system partition as needed feature working for Samsung SELinux but it occasionally has an issue mounting as ro after writing. Just reboot. The prompt will keep popping up with "Not recommended" and something else like continue or default or recommended, can't recall. But with stock kernel, the only choice is "Not recommended" and reboot when done. No problem writing. Can't even use advanced mode to mount system as ro when it fails. Just reboot.
I just sent an update to the developer yesterday. He had sent me a development apk last Christmas to get the icon sizing issue corrected; mismatched to text on the Note 4, resizing the text makes the icons tiny. He fixed that in development but hasn't released it yet.
Are you talking about mounting system in a root file browser app? If so, use root explorer. It never fails.

Yes. Got file Explorer going but still can't get any of the reboot menu apps to go with your stock L roms. Stock tar yes... I dunno.

Do u want me to upload the 4 way reboot mod for my deodexed rom? I have that done already.
Edit: Here you go. Pushh this android.policy.jar to system/framework. You might get a freeze & reboot but once you hot swap it if the system freezes then recovers, just copy & paste it one more time then set permissions & reboot again.

Thanks tx, your my hero! Still scratching my head tho... Running your rom completely from scratch... Total wipe of everything. Thanks again.
Edit: Awesome menu. Took one reboot and went through the "android is upgrading" for 15 minutes but it's working great.
Thanks again!

May be off topic but I wanted to update the status of this app. The developer is focusing on lollipop issues and updated the application a couple of times recently. I appreciate the fact he's responded to the issues that were present with Samsung stock kernel and icon to text proportionality with Note 4. It keeps getting better; squashing bugs and adding features. I have the pro version so long term support is a wonderful thing regarding a purchase.
Repost from Sprint forum area, since this main area is much more active...
I have some weirdness going on with my LS990, still running the original ZV4 with Xposed and TWRP. I've never had any problems, until now, with anything on this phone, it's been fantastic and that's why I leave it on Kit Kat.
Starting yesterday, whenever I try to open the stock File Manager, I get the following error dialog:
------------
Note
Cannot read files. File Manager will be closed. Please check Media Storage enable settings and try again.
OK <--button
------------
Sometimes the dialog is in the foreground and I can close it with OK, but File Manager never opens. Sometimes the dialog appears behind my launcher icons and everything is unresponsive until I kill the running process using my nav bar shortcut from G3 Tweaksbox.
Also, I was trying to take a screenshot to include with this post, but it gives an error (Cannot take screenshot. Try again.) when trying to save it, plus the notification just stays on "Saving Screenshot" and is unable to be swiped away. [UPDATE: Noticed the screenshots do get saved in the proper Pictures/Screenshots folder, but the notification remains "stuck"]
I have also noticed my gallery is now empty, yet I can still access all of my pics from third-party file managers. Plus, when I open the camera and take a picture, it doesn't show in the little Gallery bubble at the bottom of the screen - in fact, the bubble doesn't even work, but yet the picture is saved properly.
Has anyone seen behavior like this before? The only thing I have changed on the phone is flashing the new TWRP 3.0.0.0 yesterday, using the image feature in my previously installed TWRP 2.8.7.0. I've updated TWRP plenty of times and there has never been an issue, but one difference I did notice this time was it asked if I wanted to keep System read-only or the default swipe to make read-write, which is what I did since I have Xposed and it modifies the System anyways.
Hopefully someone out there has an idea how to fix this, I really don't want to start all over, at least not until Sprint releases MM for the G3. The strange thing is, everything else is working just fine. My phone is fully functional except for the quirks mentioned above, root is still there and Xposed is functioning properly. I did do a Safe Mode boot to see if I could eliminate any root apps, but the issues were still there even after a safe boot.
Try sd card write fix on the market just for kicks u mighta lost permissions to the ext sd try switching save point to internal and see if they save
Unfortunately, I'm not using a microSD card, everything is saved to the internal memory. I thought it might be something with permissions, was thinking about trying the "fix permissions" option in TWRP but I'm not sure if that would make things worse. I've already tried a cache and Dalvik wipe, but that didn't fix anything. Even in Safe Mode, nothing changes.
I've searched online and haven't seen anyone else with this issue, it's very strange. I wish Sprint would hurry up and drop the MM update so I would have the perfect excuse to flash back to stock.
