Best music player to replace CM stock music?
I use AIMP music player.
I use Spotify, but since you probably want a files player I recommend Apollo, one of my favourites
Blackplayer EX. Light without too much bloat. I use AIMP for a while. I don't think it capable of gapless and crossfade.

PowerAMP the best for me! One of the apps i've bought (i have only a few non-free apps)
I also use PowerAMP. You should grab it right now in the play store. It's a bargain now with the special deal.

I'm using Onkyo HF player with a micro SD (60GB) I got from Sainsbury's for £16, put ALL my i-tunes on it (ALAC) and it plays lovely, equaliser is amazing - you can adjust the frequency aswell as the levels! (playlists don't seem to work though, but hey who cares, if I want hours of music I use the i-pod)
why hasn't someone made one with a similar GUI to i-tunes? great look, awful program in the main.
Hello, i use Pulsar :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rhmsoft.pulsar&hl=fr
Lightweight, and easy to use...
Unboxing my new swift, Google Play Music wasn't able to recognize corectly all my albums stored onto my SD card... Launching Pulsar, all was fine... Comin' next !

100% agreed here, best purchase I've made. I've a 128GB microSD card in my Swift, 20000 songs, and it handles everything flawlessly
I would go with Shuttle Music Player.
I use Stellio as he got to me at a discount and it supports music from vk.com

I'm torn at the moment. At first I really liked Poweramp, mostly because the ability the boost the preamp helped with the low volume problems I was having when listening to it in my car. However, after purchasing Volume+ I found that I no longer need that boost.
Zimly by far has my favorite UI, but I've been getting a lot of crashes on it. I'm also considering bTunes, as the part I miss the most about my iPhone is the media player. I'd be curious to hear if anyone considers that a favorite
I also love Poweramp really much.
Bought it.
It plays my music collection at home, has a great equalizer, and now even supports Beats audio - whaddya want more?
Lol, it supports now beats?!?!?! I used to have it, but then I removed just because of the beats. Stock is good, though.
I use winamp because I'm old school I can't say it's especially different to any of the other players I've used but I stick with it anyway.
For audiobooks I use Mort Player Audiobook, now that is a very impressive app! Pity it looks so ugly but I'm sure it will improve.
I've been using PlayerPro for a while now and really like it.
I have been using Winamp since its release. So far it is a good and simple player. Besides I'm using the desktop Winamp player, which enables me to sync my music via the app wireless.
PlayerPro, because I can browse my music by folders.
I've been using Poweramp for a while and I love it! Its flawless!
Google Music. And I also using unlimited data plan
I'm using stock music app, it's good enough for me

I can't get it to download album artwork, even though the stock music app has done this and it shows in the stock app... Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong with Power amp?
Stock Player and Google Musik is good for me
Stock HTC Music player, because it is the only player that support special audio effect
I don't listen to music so much on the phone. (All the time on the PC!)
However, there are a few listed media apps here in case it helps anyone.

Im using the HTC Player too. But thers one thing, I'm not happy about. Where is the "Coverflow". It was included in older Version. Is this function deleted or am I stupid?
For me, the best one is 3 (Cube):

stock sense 3.0 music player for me. every music player ive used had a problem for me; always automatically playing, skipping, and pausing, when a headphone is jacked in. i uninstalled all other music apps. i only have stock player now. stock palyer aint so bad, the quality of the sound is almost the same as from other music apps.
what's the best music and video (PAID & FREE) application for our beloved HTC ONE X?
also what type of video can we put on our X? any frame size limit? and the format as well...
I personally am satisfied with MixZing music player(bought their premium version too). But most popular one is PowerAmp and they said It's the best but they got paid version only though they offer free trial for 1 week or so I think.
For videos, I'm using BS player lite, they got hw acceleration feature also.

I love WinAmp. I love the retro feel.
I've been using the unofficial VLC beta, it's been okay for the most part.
ubermusic. skinnable so you can make it look great - way better than poweramp.
Happy with the stock apps
I purchased PowerAMP a while ago Ehen I has the X10 and Arc, but no need for it on the HOX

stock player, free already there and does its job.
there are lot's to choose from maybe i'll try them all, but for the music player, i think it does not support the "BEATS" feature? only with the default player? is that correct?

Beats is available to every 3rd party app.
And no you don't need to convert movies, except if it results in you getting a file with smaller size and you want that to save mbs.
As for music player, poweramp is definitely the best Imo. Although it didn't look that good but it's features kept me to it. Now with the ics skin, which someone posted on xda, it's definitely the coolest music player.
You might also give Apollo player a try. It will continue to improve. Still not in market I think, but should be there shortly. Google it if you can't wait.
For videos, try mx player. That's all on can say. Try and you'll have the answer to your question.

yes... thanks for that, the reason why i'm asking is because, last month i tried a different music player, and while playing i noticed that sound is different and there is no beats option, but anyways, i'll give it another shot, will explore a bit.
with regards to videos. i have .avi movie format.. copied it in my sd card, tried to play it but is says, file not supported... well, guess i just need to keep on trying..
go here to find out how to enable beats on poweramp which i use. also regarding video player i would just use stock..sorry only videos i watch is youtube...i rather use big screen for movies instead oh and netflix only for my phone when i travel

So there are several different music streaming services out there, who in essence have the same music and pricing structure.
What I am asking is which has the best performing app (not service) on Android 4?
My vote is Deezer as I use it daily on my Desire and it is quite good but not perfect.
Rdio looks like a very well developed app, whereas Spotify has several negative reviews.
Opinions?
I love turntable.fm when it works lol.
And I like soundcloud as well.
Normally I use Sony music Unlimited because of the sheer number of albums available unfortunately it isn't available officially for the nexus and the side load crashes.
I've fallen back to Pandora, tune in and rdio

Most of the time I use Google Play Music since I've got over 1k songs already up, and they let you have a max of 20k songs. I can't imagine being able to find 20k songs that I actually like. No syncing across my computer/phone/tablet, just upload the files once into Google Play Music and then stream it anywhere.
The rest of the time I use Pandora.
So is Google Play Music the online store to rival iTunes that is only available in the US? Or is it the Android "Music" app to play local MP3s?
Pandora is interesting but also only in the US...!

Agreed. Our N7 is our first tablet, and first Android device and I immediately liked the 20,000 song storage ability.

Google Play Music lets you store songs you own, in the "Google Cloud", allowing you to play your songs from your phone/tablet/pc. You literally can upload all your mp3s into it - no questions asked.
You can also play music locally with it. And then the Google Play store also has music you can purchase which is added to your collection.

How do i store music in the cloud? I have like 10 gigs of music on my phone I wanna share at least some with my nexus 7.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I know Deezer lets you do the same as Play Music. You can upload to the "My MP3s" section of your Deezer account and stream them through the app.
It works quite well, but in Offline Mode obviously only the albums you download are available not any of the My MP3s tracks.
Also one flaw of Deezer is you cannot sync a single track for Offline playback, only full Albums.
My favorites in favorite order:
N7
Google Music
Cubed
Jango
I do own Poweramp, but like N7 better. I find Jango much nicer than Pandora. Cubed is just visually cool. I use Google Music on my PC at work 90% of the day.
edit:: sorry, I missed the "streaming" comment. Therefore GM and Jango only.
For playing music, the answer is simple - Neutron. It is amazing. What's even better is that you can get a special version for Tegra devices. Here's a link:

You want the NeutronMP_64.apk. If you are an audiophile like me, then you will be in heaven. Grab a good pair of headphones (NuForce is an amazing brand that not many people know about) and enjoy!!

i think the only way to upload is to install the music manager on your pc. you'll then select the folders you want it to upload.
NeutonMP is awesome for its sound quality , but I hate its interface. I love n7 player interface but their sound quality isnt as awesome as neutonMP.
I'd bought both Poweramp and N7 and switch between them. Using Poweramp more and more. Like the album art display much better, more sound adjustments (not that it matters much on a Nexus 7). N7 starting losing album art (or not finding it), so it's not getting used much.

What music app are you guys gals using to listen to your downloaded songs?
I'm trying most of the ones on XDA Android apps forums, Pulsar, wave, minmia.
VLC isn't working right, lagging hugely and redrawing incorrectly.
No winamp for Android?

Thank you for your suggestion, works very well, and it has the "delete" song from library option, double tap for favorite is nice.
There actually used to be a WinAmp for Android. It was nothing like the Windows app. But anyways, I've used every music player out there and there is only 1 that does everything I want it to. PowerAmp. It's only a couple of dollars for the full version but to me, it's totality worth it.

I am using the Sony one (Music was walkman), IMO one of the better, has a nice interface
I have been using Poweramp full version for years. The sound quality is superior when compared to Google Play Music. I have to use Play Music for my subscription but I use Poweramp for my side-loaded and purchased music.
Loaded Poweramp again, the delete function is too embedded.. is there a setting to make it more tap and hold to delete?
And what are the odds this would happen?!
OK has anyone else used pi music player? How can I set Poweramp to play songs as detailed and clear?
Esira with viper4android and dolby all the way !!!!
Still using the P2 Xl, but I don't want Google Play Music. I want a player that only plays files I loaded into the phone. I know Google Play music does that but I don't want any "services".

Works well for me.
Thanks, I also saw one called Black Player that's been getting good reviews
Pulsar is by far my favourite
Poweramp
For my needs, I use Vanilla Music player. It's basic and a light footprint.
Highly recommend poweramp
Poweramp all the way! - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xsoftstudio.musicplayer.pro
Been using it for years and never disappointed, especially with the new GUI changes they've rolled out.
Close 2nd for me would be : Player Pro - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tbig.playerpro
Another neat one, but kinda cluttered is N7 Player - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.n7mobile.nplayer
Hope you find what works for you. Everyone tends to lean toward the cloud services, I still like loading my own music on my phone as well
I'm a fan of Shuttle. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=another.music.player
Power amp is my Fave , plays flac files also , Highly recommend it :good:
Pulsar is my favorite player
PowerAMP, been using it for years.
Also shuttle. It's free software as well
Look, get Poweramp and enjoy forever. There is no comparison. I've been using it for more than 8 years maybe. Tried other players only a first few years, then I stopped venturing out.
