I Sim Race on my PC and use my phone as a secondary display for timing, gauges, etc...
Trying a new android app that just won't work. After a lot of research and testing, I've found that my Verizon LG G4 will transmit via UDP no problem, however, when my PC (or my wife's phone) sends UDP traffic to the G4 between ports 32000-36999, the packets get blocked.
I have searched far and wide for some possible answers, to no avail. Force stopped or uninstalled any apps that I think would use UDP (like spotify)... still no joy. Can't find any android apps that use that port range, how else can I free up a port in that range or figure out what's using/blocking it?
Thank you
It's gotta be either android specific (5.1) or software related, because my wife's S6 blocks the same port range.
No ideas?
And this happens even in airplane mode with WiFi on, so it's not VZ blocking them.

I recently bought an HTC Evo and had it flashed to Metropcs. I tried to connect to some of the remote desktop clients you can download from the droid market and none of them allow me to connect to it.
Has anyone been able to connect to a Remote Desktop Connection with Metro's mobile internet(not the wifi) or does it just have to slow of a connection?
I've been trying to do this too, it appears only some of the ports are allowed through. I'm really happy with MetroPCS (full signal, $40/month flat can't be beat) but not being able to use RDP and some of my favorite apps sucks. I've been searching online for a solution to this for weeks, but the farthest I've gotten is that it looks like it's proxy related. I think we have to find a way to bypass MetroPCS's proxy.
BTW, I noticed recently that the market will now allow us to download apps over 3G whereas it didn't before.
Is there anything that can be accomplished to allow the native USB tether to work as designed. Or is there any 3rd party app that accomplishes this without an additional app on the PC. my router does support my friends T-Mobile g3 and connects to the router, but mine refused to connect.
Figured it out... Took a lot of back and forth, but finally managed to get it working and it holds even after reboot and PRL update. Mine is the Sprint variant...
I want to start out by stating this may be a general Verizon issue, but was hoping to get some input here first on the issue I'm facing.
My situation is that I want to replace my home cable internet with my LG G4 via tethering. I installed a wireless card on a desktop computer, connected it to VZW network via wifi tethering from the G4, enabled connection sharing on the desktop computer, then plugged an Ethernet cord from the desktop into the WAN port of my home firewall/router. This worked perfectly, giving the rest of my home devices internet via my 4G connection!
However I have some externally facing services, such as VPN and RD Gateway that don't seem to work over the 4G connection. I've done some troubleshooting and have a suspicion inbound communication on these ports is possible blocked by Verizon.
Sidenote - these services are configured with a Dynamic DNS provider - the external IP address does change correctly when I cutover to 4G service.
I reverted my home network back to the way it was and started focusing on the G4. I played with iptables (I'm rooted) with no luck. I attempted to open ftp connection to the G4 on port 2221 with no luck (using FTPServer & FTP Server Plus apps), still nothing. I changed the port a few times to something random > 1032, still nothing.
Does anyone know if Verizon is blocking external inbound communication, or possibly if there is something on the G4 I'm overlooking?
Any information is appreciated! If I can get through this issue, I can cut my ties to Comcast!!
Everything I've read in the past says that Verizon does not allow inbound TCP connections to your device via LTE. I'm guessing that the same applies to other wireless providers.
Neither are rooted. I saw the feature on my phone and turned it on. I was able to pass my WiFi through to the tablet. I mistakenly thought it worked.
Yesterday I was at a restaurant and tried but when I tried the check Internet Access in the pairing dialog, it would immediately uncheck the box.
Is Sprint putting out a signal to not allow this?
I have not rooted these last two devices because I need the security. I run much of my company through these devices and can't risk it. But being able to tether, even just Bluetooth or USB would help these aging peepers.

OK, so I've got a VERY strange one for y'all.
First off, I had this problem on Nougat. That's what prompted me to follow instruction on here and upgrade to Oreo and try. Yeah, that failed too.
So right now I have no problems at all connecting to any Wi-Fi router at home, my friends, in-laws, etc. Even when we go to restaurants and connect, like Bob Evans, Denny's, etc. where it asks you to accept the terms of service.. no problems.. at all!!
The problem I have is on the plane. I fly 4-6 planes a week and the free Wi-Fi I have with T-Mobile has been a godsend in keeping up with work while in the air. Obviously, it's happening on every plane I fly. I can connect to the SSID, but do not get an IP address. I even bothered the guy sitting next to me once to disable his iPhone and let me connect using the IP addressing that his phone had to try. Nothing. I can ping the gateway, but not the DNS server. SO I resolved the URL for the login page to an IP and threw that in Chrome to try to pull it up. Still nothing. It's so infuriating!! I can open plenty of apps that shows the IP address that whatever router I'm connected to gives me, but for some reason I do not get one when connecting to GoGo. I've tried a different browser (firefox, opera and the Samsung browser). I've tried an incognito window to remove and possible cashed issues. I've tried forcing Google's DNS and OpenDNS, still nothing.
So, the next step.. try a different phone. Yup, works great. It's not an account issue. It's almost like my MAC address is blocked by all the routers on every plane?! That can't be. I carry this Moto Z2 Force and also my iPhone. Problem is, I wanted to try to connect my laptop via Bluetooth to my Z2 Force once it's connected to the GoGo Wi-Fi to get my laptop online, but I can't even get an IP to be able to connect to the router. You can't do that with an iPhone. If you can... a penny for your thoughts
What's worse, is I've contacted GoGo Wi-Fi's tech support chat. They are determined to tell me there's something wrong with the phone.
Can someone please help me figure this out? I used to work in an IT department for the state government, and I should be able to keep up with whatever you ask.
Thanks a TON in advance!!
