Partition update problems are pretty tough, especially since I know of no one [personally] to recover from such an issue. I have heard of people claiming to recover though. There is a thread in the HTC Glacier forum that offers some detail in the matter. A quick search will get you there. Also if you happen to recover, or anyone else, I have a stock 816 BU [Sprint] created with TWRP. Good luck!

[Q] Big problem with htc...

I rooted my phone 6 months ago and 1 month ago it started restarting out of a sudden. Another problem was that it did not turn on the first time, so i had to get the battery out and try again to turn on the phone. When i saw that i decided to upgrade with the official Gingerbread Rom for the Desire. Now the problems started getting more and more serious. My phone remains stuck in the htc logo screen...it does not go into recovery and when i tried installing the initial ruu, to try to take it back to warranty it said that the bootloader version is not good. Any ideas how to solve this problem? I would really appreciate some help...
Maybe providing some info, like bootloader information, phone information....
Current Hboot is 1.02.0001, radio 5.17.05.23 and i wish to install RUU_Bravo_Froy2_UK_2.14.207.1_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_144166_signed. I have tried to install the ROM by puting the rom file from the ruu on the memory card and renaming it as PB99IMG.zip. Once i turn on the phone in hboot, it loads the image and after 3 minutes is says "Main Version is older! Update Fail!". I have also tried to install the ruu by connecting it to the computer and booting the phone in fastboot. It said the current image version is 3.14.405.1 and the version I will install will be 2.14.207.1. After about 5 minutes in the install process it gets stuck in "Updating Signature" and after that the process stops and the following message is shown:
"ERROR[140]:BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR
The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone.
Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again."
I am currently quite desperate..
Your HBOOT is newer than the one you want to flash.
You nned to downgrade it, which means you have to S-Off your device with revolutionary.io AFAIK.
Then flash one of the HBOOTs from alpharev.nl (downgrader) - then you can flash the RUU.

Can you please give me a more detailed instruction of how to do that? Where can i get revolutionary.io AFAIK from and how do i use it? Thanks in advance
Revolutionary (aka alpharev), from here
http://revolutionary.io/
Not sure where you would get an AFAIK, but As Far As I Know, it doesn't actually exist

Can you please tell me how to s-off the phone if the phone cannot start?i tried in fastboot but the software on the computer didn't detect the phone...
You need to be running fastboot in the CMD.exe...
You need to follow the guide for ADB first, then you can use fastboot to flash a new image!

How can I enable USB debugging if my phone gets stuck at the HTC logo? sorry for being such a pain guys but i am not very experienced in this stuff..
Did you manage to solve it ? I have the same problem , stuck with the boot loop issue after flashing Official RUU 2.3 upgrade. Only have access to fastboot, can't use adb to downgrade.

Yes, I had s-off with alpharev. The problem started with boot loop on alpharev screen. I flashed amoled RUU by mistake and had slcd brick.
Now I have installed the correct RUU but still either get stuck on boot loop or on HTC screen. Wonder if the system partitions are screwed up or if they can be restored without adb or s-off.
i did not manage to do anything. all i want to do is to put back the initial ruu so i can take the phone back to warranty. But i don't know how to downgrade hboot.
can anyone please tell me how can i downgrade my hboot? The biggest problem is that i cannot enable usb debugging because my phone is stuck with the bootloop.

Boot into Fastboot and then run RUU. Setup should see it.
I managed to reinstall the official Android 2.3 RUU but the problem is that i want to install the RUU_Bravo_Froy2_UK_2.14.207.1_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_144166_signed RUU. From what i have been told, i firstly have to downgrade hboot. Can anyone give me some detailed steps of how to do this?
If I were you, I'd S-OFF with revolutionary, flash recovery and flash a ROM.. when you're S-OFF, there is a way to downgrade... I just haven't got time to search now sorry
That's from my understanding that you re-did the 2.3 RUU and your phone now works.. right?
Unfortunately the phone doesn't start now either
but did it work before? have you tried leaving it for about half an hour and tried turning it on again? (I've seen faults like that). If not try the RUU again, then S-OFF - which makes life SOOOOOOO much easier

[Q] Need help with finding the correct stock ROM and getting back to stock

So, my problem is, I currently have ARHD 9.7.2 installed. In bootloader it says I have HBOOT 0.94.0000 and radio version 1.1204.104.14.
I think the correct RUU is this: RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_HTC_Europe_1.29.401.7_Radio_ 1.1204.104.14_release_259281_signed but I cant find it anywhere (well I found it, but download freezed because of bad mirror site). Can I use another RUU or what should I do? And if someone could post the correct steps for this reverting-to-stock procedure. First relock, then run RUU or what? Couldn't find a proper guide...

If you are sure the RUU that you need is 1.29.401.7, you can find it here at http://htcruu.com/?dir=Endeavor
But I recommend go for the latest version 2.17.401.2 because when you installed 1.29.401.7, the system will prompt you to OTA update to the latest.
So, just relock the bootloader in fastboot mode - fastboot oem lock
then again in fastboot mode, run the RUU
Thanks to both of you :good: I was a bit worried when relocking the bootloader I got a message from CMD: ... INFOLock successfully... FAILED (status read failed (Too many links)) but the RUU installed fine (fastboot said security warning under the relocked-message). I'm going to RMA my phone because of the backlight flickering and the bottom of the screen is getting loose from the body. One final question, do I now have the phone 100% ready for the RMA (I mean, is the software now fully stock)?
Yep... it is now 100% stock except the relocked status instead of originally locked. So it depends on your luck at HTC centre.
On my past experience with other htc phone, no problem for RMA.

[Q] HTC S-ON Upgrade problem

Hello guys,
I need you. I bought a used HTC One X and I can't update it. I tried a lot of stuff on this forum and on other and I'm stuck.
Here's the datail of the model :
Bootloader menu :
Unlocked
ENDEAVORU S-ON
HBOOT 0.95.0000
Radio 2.1204.137D.21
May 8 2012
mid : PJ4610000
cid : none (but if i do a fastboot oem readcid I get VODAP203)
I've got a CWM recovery 5.8.4.0
What I want is just to get the last OTA update witch is OTA_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_Vodafone_FR_2.17.163.4-1.29.163.13_release_280184trtqxlvyzym8i42x.zip if i understood well.
I can't boot anymore on the android system (it goes to the desktop screen and right away it reboots) Thanks to the 'mount usb storage i'm able to mount the SD card in the CMW. When I try to update the OTA file I have error 7. So I modified the updater-script in the zip but now it just say "installation aborted".
The android version is 4.0.3, and the OTA brings the 4.0.4. Anyway, I can't use the system cause It alwyas reboots.
So, how can I have a fresh and clean install ?
Thanks

Here's what I would do. Get the RUU (latest) for your device. I hope you find one (xda search should help out). Then, lock your bootloader, boot into fastboot and then run the RUU. You should be back to stock...do keep a back up of your apps if you need to install them again.
This is probably foolproof way to upgrade your ROM.
Thanks
I tried to search for a RUU for my CID and only find a old one. Older than the version I have now.
I don't think trying to flash with an older version work right ?
I'll try anyway...
Here's the only RUU I found :
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_Vodafone_FR_1.26.163.2_Radio_1.1204.90.13_release_251225_signed.exe
The other option would be to ask in this thread, maybe someone would have a nandroid backup they could throw you, although i couldn't see one for your CID on the list, this is however subject to change, worth an ask

[Q] desire hd not booting after unlocking bootloader

Hi all,
I have spent the last week trying to solve my problem. Basically I tried to unlock the bootloader on my HTC desire HD using the instructions supplied by HTCDEV. Something happened during the unlocking process and now I have an unlocked bootloader and a phone that doesnt boot. The unlocking process didnt go through as I didnt get to the part where I have to work with the token. However, if I boot into bootloader, it shows that it is unlocked and s-on. I can get to the fastboot menu and the phone only boots to the HTC screen.
I have followed the instructions from the many posts in this forum without any luck. I cant seem to be able to flash anything through fastboot. I keep getting errors such signature failed error 132 and error 131. I cant access recovery. It gives out errors whenever i try to access it. ADB doesnt work. The device doesnt get picked up in windows. I tried flashing recovery without any luck. The CID is HTC_612. The firmware version is 1.31.405.6.
I tried to use an RUU but I always get the error that the RUU that i am using is not the one for my rom or that the signature verification is wrong.
Any advice?
Thanks

Damn. If you had S-OFF you could have flashed a recovery and it would have been easier for you. Post in the thread linked in my signature (Ace Think Tank) and you'll hopefully get some help from someone (most likely Glevitan)

S-On, Re-Lock, Recovery doesn't work, no ROM HELP Please?!

Hey guys i've checked the similar threads for answers before posting and was wondering if someone can help me with the similar problem.
I was rooted with s-on and tried to revert back to stock, so relocked the bootloader and now i get an error message and can't unlock the booatloader again.
Error message reads this:
"Security checking failed NOT_FIND_SMART IO
FILE /mnt/media_rw/ext_sd/OPJAIMG.zip
File NOT FOUND
I've tried everything that i could think of in FASTBOOT,
I can't get into custom recovery, can't rebootRUU because just sticks at HTC splash screen, every time i try to unlock the bootloader i get as far as the yes or no part but then it fails to unlock in download mode and won't even do it in the normal fastboot mode.
I've tried on both mac and windows and nothing works apart from getvar all and fastboot devices, i have a memory card of 32gb and and a adaptor i can plug into my laptop if that helps?
If there is any more information that i am missing, can you please let me know, i really want to get this phone sorted without having to pay to get it sorted from htc.
Thanks
Travis

If adb is okay then try flashing TWRP and go from there if successful. Have a read of my post here.

Hi I've tried to flash in fastboot as the device won't boot so I could use adb. I've relocked the bootloader as I was about to go back to stock. The only process I haven't done yet that I can think of is running the ruu.exe on my computer, but I'm having trouble finding the ruu for Europe as all the links I try are either broken or they say the file doesn't exist anymore.
Is it possible to flash a ruu through fastboot while on relocked bootloader.
Also I've tried to OEM unlock the bootloader but that doesn't work either.
Thanks for your reply, much appreciated.
