Brought a second hand p8000 couple days ago thinking it had screen flickering bug that you use Nova launcher to solve but turns out the digitizer is broken or loose I think. When I switch on it work fine but when I touch home or left capacative button they don't work.
After some minutes the home and left button start to work then all of a sudden the screen goes bezel and starts opening unrelated apps and pulling down status bar without me touching
The screen itself looks as though it's coming away from frame in middle section
I took apart last night and when I touch digitizer plug at top it also starts the bezerk reaction
Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Is it just broken digitizer ribbon cable?
Thanks
In case anyone has same problem and found this through search.... I just wrapped sellotape around digitized cable as it was shorting out on frame
friend of mine has the same problem with p800. looking for some solution. just seen similar threads on official elephone forum, but no answer from elephone or some tips

Hi,
I have a problem with XDA - it is stuck at the align screen and keeps looping the cross over the screen forever.
I have reflashed rom a few time, I have disassambled the phone - cleaned the contacts, cleaned the screen, removed the schotch from the lcd 4 connectors. I even tried to glue a big piece of schotch to the screen pull the touchscreen of the lcd a bit...
nothing helps so far!!!
Do I need a new touchscreen? I really would like to fix this one, because it shouldn't be broken - it looks so nice and clean!?!!!!
Please help me!!
I found that pressure applied to the bottom left corner of the touchscreen behind the today screen button will cure touchscreen problems. When dissasembled it would be the area where the 4 leads branch off the touchscreen. I tested by slipping a doubled over piece of paper under that left corner (with the unit fully assembled). It put just enough pressure on that area that the touchscreen started working again! Try it, might work.
Thanks, but nope - stucking a paper under the casing didn't help.
I have managed to get pass align screen by deleting welcome file on PocketPC/windows/startup, but still the screen is faulty as the bottom and the top part of the screen doesn't respond to stylus!
What could this mean? Is there something wrong with the robon cable? Could reattaching the ribon cable help?!
Guess what! Just fixed the touchscreen - everybody said it's impossible - I don't know how I did it - just removed the ribon cable and soldered it back - it worked for me!!
Thanks all!!
XDA iis digitizer replacement and align screen solved
Ok to start with it is nearly impossible to solder the ribbon from a new digitizer on to a ppc lcd. I screwed up a screen trying to do that with a so called fine soldering iron but this is micro soldering, looks to be only possible by a machine. Dont glue it either as i've heard its bad too but if some one has had success then post and let us know. I just sticky taped it to the 4 metal connection lines. The ribbon is slightly see through and can easily line up.
Now when I had done this the screen align kept cycling. Yes even up to 20 times would not fix it but if you go back to the ribbon connection and make sure it is exactly on mark then you'll know the connection is ok. If the align screen responds to your taps well then it is just either the ppc getting used to the new digitizer or what I found was shuffling around the screws and making sure the insides of the ppc were snug and nothing pressing too hard on the lcd. The comment on placing a piece of cardboard was a good sujestion as when I screwed the whole thing together it suddenly aligned.
When the ppc finished installing, the alignment was a bit off by half a centimeter so i ran the align screen utility from settings again and it aligned! Now it works. Fingers crossed.
No response from a seemingly perfect touchscreen.
Hello guys it seems you guys have mastered correcting touch screen problems. If you would take a moment of time out of your day to help a dumb college kid. I have a SX66 and it has worked perfect and has remained to be a cool phone thanks to this site and the developers. I have retraced my steps a million times and here is what happened. I was surfin the web on my phone at school and the battery dropped off. I put the battery back on but the phone would not power up. 30 minutes later I tried my backup battery and bingo it powered on. But the touchscreen does not work at all. I took the phone apart and made sure connections were good and all was good. And as a last resort I reflashed my copy of wm6 to the phone. There is no cracks or blemishes on the screen. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated
I do not know if somebody faced this problems before or not:
1- The soft-keys, dial key, call drop key, and the scrolling keys; are always while pressing them for long time does not response until turning off the screen by pressing the power button then turning on again to keep working for awhile then same thing happen again.
2- The screen is sometimes fade to be completely white & brightness more, and everything hidden until turning off the screen by pressing the power button then turning on it again
If anybody knows how to fix this matter please provide me with the solution.
Thanks for all concerned
I had the same exact problem... I fixed it by getting a warranty exchange from AT&T!
I have the same problem! Unfortunately my phone is not covered by warranty. I think it's a hardware issue because I changed a number of ROMs and the problem persisted. I don't know what to do, it's driving me nuts!
Help anybody???
Good news!
Ok, as far as the key problem goes, using the PDF file about HTC TyTN where you can see how EXACTLY to disassemble and assemble the TyTN I took the courage to open up my TyTN and pull up the motherboard and clean everything up and close it tightly back. However I did not completely disassembled it as the manual shows because I did not want to remove any stuff that's glued like the rubber parts and the metal tape that holds the keyboard connector. So basically, I did not reach the part where the soft keys are, but somehow miraculously my keys are working nice again! I guess the problem was just loose connections and probably it was loosing contact somewhere because keys worked sometimes and then suddenly stopped.
Anyways, it's been 2 days now and the keys work perfectly and my TyTN is not so loose like it's going to fall apart as it was before!
P.S.
I haven't noticed the white screen problem also but it's been only 2 days and it wasn't happening so often before anyways.
This issue is known -there are threads in hermes section, search for white screen..
Its a harware issue with XILINX coolrunner(if I remember it right) on the front keypad below screen.. It propably has some bad solders under it -mine went so bad that it showed only white screen until I disassemled the unit and pressed directly the chip with my fingers
Then I bought a new circuit from cnn -at the moment it had those boards for sale, not anymore. That fixed my problem.
Among the threads someone got his/her phone to operate again by putting something between the cover and the chip..
I had the problem on my handset and managed to fix it by cutting up a piece of card..be it and old credit card or whatever to the size of the recess that the chip fits in...this pushes against it nicely and since then only had the problem reoccur once...then it was cured by just putting the handset into standby mode and back to normal again
hi all! couldn't find a similar thread here.. so here goes..
my BA has been working fine until yesterday, when i slid the keyboard out,
the screen turns reddish!
but it only happens when the keyboard is slid about 75%, beyond the top roy of keys..
when i slide it back, then screen turns back to normal!
i'm guessing there's a cable loose in there, some hardware prob?
haven't dropped it, nor installed any programs recently..
yes it is very probably flex cable malfunction
same problem here.... haven't dissambled it or anything, but when i slide the KB out like even just a bit, sometimes the screen whites out.. have to turn it off and on again for screen to return to normal (sometimes it works). and always, when the slide is moved even a few millimeters, the TS would be misaligned.
Same problem The screen turns white almost always now.. Think it will die soon. The flat cable to the screen can't be changed. I think the only way to solve this is by opening the cable and drawing broken contacts with liquid silver (used for tv remote control buttons).
Anyone got any other solution??????
same problem...in fact its growing nearing the part where i jus touch the slider to move out....im gonna be in helluva trbl wen this thing breaks....anyone help....
To be honest, I think that the only solution is to glue it when it's closed... :baby:
have the same problem here. i know its a flex problem. i just dont use the keyboard anymore so that it wont get damaged further.
hey,
I had a problem a few days ago where some parts of my touch screen (near the home, menu, etc. buttons) started to not work. and today when I woke up, the whole screen is not working. It seems to respond every now and then, but barely.
I'm assuming this to be a hardware problem, but I am not sure. Anybody had a similar problem before? disassembly would be my last resort, how should I go about fixing this? Thanks.
I have the same problem. about a half inch band across the very bottom of the screen. Weird thing is sometimes the whole screen will become unresponsive (if it stays on for too long) then turning the screen off and on and unlocking the phone makes it go away for a while. The digitizer glass in my phone seems to need replacing. I've scoped a replacement out online (don't have the link) for about 30 bucks. there are also many assembly/disassembly videos for the phone. Looks like it will take a lot to get the digitizer out.
I was having the same problem... Just replaced the digitizer and still have the same issues... anyone have an idea?
I have a similar problem but with the soft keyboard. It becomes unresponsive very often..tried many roms and diff softkeyboards but the ptoblem still there

Hey everybody,
Ive had my Zenwatch for almost a year now.
About 3 days ago my zenwatch started having touchscreen issues. The left half of the screen works perfectly, however 99% of the right side is unresponsive. I turned on "Show touches" in the developer settings and it shows all left side touches are working; only touches to the very top of the right side show. I cannot wake my watch by touching the right side of my screen.
I used the android wear app to reset the watch and nothing changed. I also cannot get into recovery mode because that requires I swipe across the right side of the screen.
I pulled the watch apart and replugged the connectors for the digitizer and LCD and rebooted - no change.
Does anyone have any ideas? Or heard of a place I can buy a new digitizer?
Thanks for any and all help.

I'm having the same issue, started not very long ago. Any info on this would be appreciated, hopefully it's a software bug.
Sorry, I ended up getting annoyed with not being able to find a parts watch to swap pieces with and the repair likely being more than the watch is worth. I picked up a Moto 360 2nd gen and am loving it

You can try to take the watch apart and re-seat the cable from the screen to the motherboard. Pretty easy to do but you will probably will lose the waterproofing o-rings on the screws though.
Hey hecksagon,
I tried to reset the cable before making the thread, unfortunately it did nothing. I ended up buying a replacement LCD + digitizer from AliExpress for 22$US and it worked perfectly.
