Hello everyone,
Today I was attempting to revert back to stock on my sprint gs3 (in order to update the modem software version to nd8) using a one-click made by rwilco12. (Unfortunately, I am unable to provide the link, but it is on this website).
Essentially, it is an all-in-one .exe file which contains odin and the stock firmware combined. I followed all of the instructions, yet after I press "start", odin fails nearly 20 seconds later, with the phone (which is on download mode) saying, "Secure check fail : aboot".
As of this time, the phone is still connected to my computer and is still in download mode. Is it safe for me to attempt to restart the phone while it's still in download mode and try again? And, if not, is there a solution to the "secure check fail : aboot" problem?
Any help would be EXTREMELY appreciated! Thanks!
Yes you can unplug and restart. Try a different port, or cable.
Also, are you sure your phone isn't a triband?
If you're sure its not a triband, then you don't have to bother with one clicks. Plus nd8 is very old. You can try nj2 or oh1. Just get a clean version of odin and the .tar you need.

Thank you for your prompt response, I am now downloading the stock nd8 odin flashable tar.
As for the one click, I tried a different cable, port and computer, but all with the same results. I'm not sure if this is helpful or not, but here is a screenshot of the error the one click is giving me.

Also, what is the "triband" version you referred to earlier? Is there a way to find out while still in download mode?
Thanks again your help.
The triband is model sph-l710t. The "t" at the end makes it triband. Different phone, different .tar.
Also, try this odin.

Alright, thank you. It is definitely not a triband model, as download mode states it as "sph-l710" only. I will try that odin with the nd8 tar I just downloaded.
Thanks again for your help.
Also, on the odin that you pointed to, which of the buttons is the equivalent to the "pda" button from the older versions of odin?

You said "some overseas" ROM, then I think root is the way as it is region locked (as all new Samsung devices).
Got it connected it was something to do with PC as I was trying it with Windows 7 and works with no issues with XP
How do I do a clean install to flash stock rom as when i try it some files and folders are still present
Do hard reset before and after flashing.

Custom kernel is better with some custom ROMs.
I am using W7 Ultimate and no problems at all.
I would suggest you to uninstall all Samsung stuff, clear PC cache and restart. Reinstall drivers connect your phone and let install drivers. Don't install KIES. Unplug phone from PC and do hard reset (either via Menu or Home+Vol Up+Power). Then turn off your phone and reboot to download mode, connect to PC wait for driver installation and when Odin shows/recognized phone proceed with flashing. It takes about 5 min.
My CSC showing TSI (???) but flashed generic UK(BTU) and generic German (DBT) ROMs without any problems.
I have used this ( I9195XXUAMH2_I9195OXXAMH4_BTU) from Sammobile.
Not sure about Samsung's region lock, but I think its just 3 regions : EMEA, Asia and Americas.
Sadly, it seems my IMEI has been set to zero.
I can still make calls and text, but my data is on Edge network only.
I've been doing some searching and reading (by some I mean a lot) and I guess I'm getting a little confused in it all.
Would using ODIN to reset my phone to stock fix the IMEI?
I have the IMEI on a sticker on the phone, could TMobile reset the IMEI for me?
Thanks in advance.
Swap it if you have insurance. If not search xda for fix.
Sent from my SM-N900T using xda app-developers app
Yes Odin will fix the Issue. Please choose correct firmware to flash via Odin.
Thanks for the response.
Trying to confirm I get the RIGHT rom for my device.
Went to sammobile.com/firmwares/
Looking at all the options for SGH-T999, do I have to made basebands to what I have now (T999UVDLJA) which is dated Oct 2012, or is that something that gets "updated" if I apply the latest rom (March 2014)?
Depends on what you had before all these problems. You must choose that same version otherwise you may hard brick the phone.
*sigh*
And I suppose there's no way to know that? I don't have a back up or anything...
Is there anyway to determine?
Thanks for your help and direction thus far!
Oh Sure. There are other ways to determine. If possible post a photo of the download screen. Otherwise type out exactly what you see when the phone is in download mode.

Yes that's what I needed. I suggest please use UVDMD5 Version of Root66 to flash via Odin.
Excellent.
So follow directions and get files from here?: http://www.androidayos.com/2013/05/...y-bean-without-binary-flash-counter-increase/
Well. Yes. I'd direct you to the Thread here under Android Development.
Yeap. The link I posted actually takes you back to the link you provided.
Both bookmarked.
I hope to do this tonight.
If I understand this correctly, this should flash my phone back to stock with my valid IMEI
Using this Route66 I will have root on the phone and should then be able to do a CM install if I choose?
Yes and yes.
If that is your desire, then while you are in Odin, flash a custom Recovery such as TWRP or CWM as well.

... I will have to research on how to do that too then.
First concern is getting the IMEI back so that I can actually USE the phone with data -- regardless if it's CM or stock OS.
As the UVDMD5 will have correct modem, hopefully that will restore IMEI. Otherwise we may have to see what happens.
hmmm sort of seems to have worked... stuck at the "SAMSUNG" screen though.
Reading other links says I should have cleared cache before doing?
Hmmm cleared cache.
Did factory reset.
Still stuck at pulsating "SAMSUNG" logo...
Ok got into phone... ugh is stock ROM just painful. Who designs these things?!?!
Sadly, IMEI is still set at 0
this doesn't seem to have worked

Can't TMobile just restore the IMEI if I take it to one of their stores?

you don't unzip it, you have to use something like odin v3.09 or whichever you choose to flash it.. for odin you can just google it, i think mods remove the download links here and be careful exactly where you get it..
I think you put the .tar file in the PDA section then click start (all the info i have is home) but you can also google a tutorial, it's actually extremely simple, my memory is shot though lol

You need to rename that file, it should end with md5, just change rar to md5, then bring the file into ODIN, ODIN is up to version 3.10 by the way.....ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
yes thank you! and sorry for the misinformation i missed the .rar portion.. you would use the "AP (PDA)" option in odin for that as well
SageChrono have you downgraded successfully and if you have, have you been able to keep 4.4.4?

Hi, I'm on a rooted i747m http://i.imgur.com/u65sAbb.png from telus, I wanna switch carrier and feel like unlocking it myself. Apparently there a working method on 4.1.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2529200 but I'm stuck in the downgrading part . I get the same message on multiples versions of ODIN (1.85, 3.04, 3.07) :
Code:
<ID:0/004> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/004> FAIL! (Auth)" : aboot
and a red SECURE CHECK FAIL in my i747m.
I tried many different 4.1.1 firmware from different carriers (also 4.1.2 stock from telus

The aboot message leads me to believe you are trying to flash a bootloader that is not compatible with your phone.
Are you able to confirm the bootloader on your phone?

Not sure how can I do that, I don't know any other way than check the phone system information

Install the Samsung Phone App from the Play store and run it. It will give you information about your phone.
If you have the terminal app on your phone, you could use that app to type in "getprop ro.bootloader".

Yes with mobile odin I downgraded to 4.1.1 (telus not att as the unlock thread says) , unlocked the phone, flashed to 4.1.2, rooted it, recoverd my nandroid backup with latest clockworkmod recovery (i had an old version that couldnt restore 2gb+ backups), updated to 4.42 and rooted again the phone.
Glad you got it all sorted out
New to the forums and everything having to do with rooting and what not, but I may have hard or soft bricked my galaxy s6 yesterday. I searched for hours to find someone with my particular problem and found nothing so I was hoping someone could help me on here. I had successfully rooted my phone and tried to flash a custom rom into the device and I guess it failed and now I can't get out of Odin or download mode. I tried to do the recovery thing where you hold the power, home, vol down then up thing without success. What it does is, it'll reboot, show the Galaxy s6 splash screen for a split second and go right back into download mode. It's android 5.1.1 and I tried downgrading and I get a fail each time. Even tried 5.1.1 firmware also with no success. If anyone can help me with this, I would be so thankful for it since I had to buy an iPhone 4s today lol.

I don't have much experience with device yet, as I have only rooted 5.0.2. With so little available and only TW, I have not made the leap. Hopefully, someone will be able to help you out.
If you have upgraded to 5.1.1, there is no going back. I would think you should be able to flash 5.1.1 stock again. How does this fail? Are you using Odin 3.10.6? Use your original USB cable and put the 5.1.1 tar in the same directory as odin.

You have to use Odin 3.10.6 with 5.1.1. It looks like you are using an older version of Odin. Also, make sure you are opening Odin as an administrator.
