Hey guys,
Will a COG5 custom rom be compatible on a COJ6 base or do I need to downgrade/upgrade?
I also can't seem to find out if COJ6 is newer than COG5 or vice verse.
Thanks in advance!

Thank you, that answers one question. but....
I'm looking to flash the OBAR rom. I'm currently on COJ6, will I need to downgrade to COG5 first or is it safe to flash on the newer build/baseband?

The latest official stock ROM in my country is JB 4.1.2 ..... Am i missing something ??
If you don't use custom rom. No matter just put the latest firmware.
If you enjoy custom you must put a custom kernel and another recovery like pgilz or twrp
Which 4.1.2 build are you running? Anything after dll7 I think should have the fix implemented.

If I install a stock based 4.1.2 rom such as alliance and do not install any special kernel, will I be safe?

Yes, the stock kernel/rom should include the fix.

It's the build number/version. Can't exactly remember how to check it on Samsung roms, I think you dial something like *#1234# in the dialer.

Try rooting and installing custom rom. It might solve your issue also as it resolve my random restart problems before.
Btw I used android revolution hd v17.

Thanks so it is basically old stock based custom roms and aosp/aokp that has that problem...
I am currently on CM10.1 for Galaxy Grand (Custom ROM) and right now the baseband version i have is I9082XXAMD1. The latest updates to stock ROM through Samsung, updates the baseband version to I9082XXAME4.
How can i update my baseband version while using CM10.1?
With AMD1, CM10.1 is running absolutely fine (disregarding the bugs known). If i update to AME4, can it (will it) somehow affect the functioning of phone/call feature ?
Anyone?
You get no reply because you seem to confuse "baseband" to "firmware" version. The firmware XXAMF7 has baseband XXAMC4. Baseband pertains to the modem. If you have dual sim grand it will surely enable 2 sims on XXAMF7. CM10.1 works only on 1 sim.

Now to my question, how am I supposed to get my baseband version updated while staying on CM10.1?
Rejocie001, how did u get urs updated? U flashed stock rom to update the baseband and then back to CM10.1?

No.. there is no other easier way.. If you flash only the kernel file.. U will get unknown baseband issue.. So better flash the stock firmware then revert back to cm10.1.. this is the safest method..

Maybe flashing the modem not the kernel will solve the OP problem? AFAIK kernel flashing does not change the baseband. Pull the modem.img from the stock then add it to rar using winrar for example then flash over cm10.1 using odin. Anyway I have not tried it so OP you are on your own.

Answer
Why you don't try out to install rom through official recovery already installed in Grand.
I've got the same dilemma, I've got an s4, so I flash stock rom, then have to root that rom after update and reflash cyanogenmod?

No straight way to update baseband version
I'm on an i9295 with CM11, but the baseband (modem) version is leftover from the stock Touchwiz 4.2.2 I was using ages ago. It doesn't seem to be any fast/smart way to update it. I'll have to spend some time on this. The only way I can think of is the one proposed by rejocie001. I'll have to flash a newer Touchwiz firmware, which will update the baseband version, then I'll have to push CWM via Odin, which will hopefully allow me to flash the CM11 zip again.
If anyone has a better way to do it, please speak up, it can save me a lot of trouble. Don't leave me in the dark here.
Thanx.

Now that both Android 4.3 has been released as an OTA update and official Kernel have been posted by Samsung, I am thinking about turning my T-Mobile S4 into the 9505G (until T-Mobile releases the firmware update). I have a few questions:
- Is it safe to install the stock 9505G ROM on the M919? Do I have to worry about basebands/modems? What about the kernel? Will the new stock kernel work?
- When do I find the latest and purest GPE 4.3 ROM? I've been to the 9505G forum, but most stock-based ROMs are either old (not the latest) or have been modified in one way or another? Is there a link to the source?
Thanks in advance.

Since 4.3 just officially dropped. I'm sure by tomorrow allot of the developers who have posted 4.3 leak builds will update there ROMs with the official build. I would just wait till later tomorrow. That way you won't have to worry about flashing something you are not suppose to

I wouldn't recommend using a rom with the 4.3 official build. Security settings force quits, and you can't uninstall apps. Stick with one of the leaked 4.3's; I'm personally using VirginROM by mvirginia and it works great.

Any luck with a link for the flashed OTA GE ROM for the M919? I'd also like to try making my T-Mobile S4 into a straight GE version.
I have did some searches this morning and can't find my answer. I had twrp 2.6.3.10 I could flash any aosp rom but not any TW rom on Kit kat. Went through the process of updating my bootloader by flashing stock Tmobile TW rom thru Odin. Then went to twrp 2.6.3.10-BL
Then I couldn't flash aosp rom but could flash TW on kit Kat. Now I'm on beanstalk and twrp 2.7.0.0 and when I flash a aosp rom it completes successfully but it just bootloops. Any help on flashing more aosp roms would be greatly appreciated
Attached a screen shot of my about screen.
Is that Tmobile or international rom? If international you need a tmobile kernel.

You can try this new modem to see if this improves the signal in your area. I am also using ATT Note 2 on T-Mobile and I am getting better signal with this modem. If you don't like it you can flash back MK6 modem. Remember, if you are using AT&T Note 2 on T-Mobile, then everytime you install a modem you had to re-apply AWS band MOD.
